I've had my phone rooted and had CM7 on my phone for about a week now and I've been scouring the vast corners of the web trying to find any mod that would allow me to make my battery in the status bar show increments as low as 1% and thus far I haven't been able to find anythin (major reason for posting).
Another question I have is what types of mods/apps/addons should I look out for as obviously I'm a huge n00b when it comes to dealing with my newly rooted device and my new rom.
Any help on either of these questions would be greatly appreciated

CM7 already has 1% battery steps incorporated. Check Settings->Cyanogenmod Extras->UI Settings->Status Bar.
You should have an option to show battery %'s.
I've seen that on a lot of posts that I've looked over, the only problem is I've done that. I've checked the box that says "show percentage" but it only shows in increments of 10% (until it hits 20% then its increments of 5%). Could it be something in a newer version of CM7? Could you, or anyone post a link to a download of the newest CM7

i think the 1% battery steps is only available in nadlabak's milestone version of cyanogen mod, rather than in the droid version off the official cyanogen mod site.
you can try checking the official cyanogenmod site, but i'm not sure its available there
What's the big difference between the milestone and the droid? They're both in this section so they have to be similar in a number of ways. Would it be safe to use the milestone version on my droid?

No, it wouldn't. The builds are completely different and flashing a Milestone ROM on your Droid would just be a bunch of trouble.
So is there any way I can flash a rom or anything to give me battery increments of 1% in my status bar?
Also, still holding out on any apps/mods/addons that I should be looking for.
Links to help on either of these would be incredibly helpful

here is how in milestone 1% was achieved. i have no idea if it will help you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097244
Well, at least that gave me hope lol. Now all I need is someone who knows what they're doing to help me write the scripts and find out if it can be done. Again, I'm a noob to this whole root thing and I have no sort of computer degree or any experience with internal programming of anything electronic.
Btw, thank you all for trying to help on this, maybe if we can figure it out I could get the fat cut out of the thread by a mod and renamed to something that resembles what I'm actually trying to do

Are there any 1GHZ overclock kernels for use with the Moto Droid CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1? I looked over the development thread and couldn't definitively tell for sure.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Not that I know of. The highest overclock I've seen for the droid 1 is 900 MHZ and I think that was with Motomizer (not 100% on this). I found it on the app store.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Sorry for the double post but the thread hasn't seen any action in 24 hours. I'm still looking around for apps and stuff, but I haven't been able to find anything I really understand or have a use for. There are still no updates on the 1% increments situation and I'm still striving hard to find it. I'm also still looking for someone to help me understand what I'm doing with the whole script writing thing.
Also, I had a problem with Go SMS Pro on CM7 (both 7 and 7.1) with not receiving messages every once in a while and I couldn't get the LED notification to work with it no matter what type of settings I went in to to change the LED. Has anyone else had this problem or know any reasons why this could be happening?
EDIT: Looked over the post for the Millestone again and noticed that there's nothing in the droid called /sys/class/power_supply/battery/charge_counter. When I tried to creat a folder for it (literally using my phone due to computer problems) I was given an error message saying it could not be created. This is probably the thing I want most for my droid beings I won't be able to upgrade to a newer phone until I get some serious money together. This seems to be a fairly popular subject on other sites and for other phones, but all I've ever seen positive about it was "(someone)'s working on it but they're too wrapped up in (project) right now." This can't be all that hard to figure out, if the Milestone could get it, we should be able to get it too.

for the gosms issue, try editing /system/build.prop
theres a line there which says sys.keep_app_1=
if you put com.jb.gosms after the equals sign, it'll force gosms to stay in memory. that fixed the problem i had with my milestone not notifying me of messages. if your just not getting sms's, rather than not getting notifications you can lock the stock sms app in memory, either through settings - cyanogenmod settings - performance - lock messaging app in memory, or through the same process as with go sms. (i dont have a droid, so it's only an assumption that these features are present in the droid version and not something nadlabak added in his milestone version)
i have managed to get the 1% battery steps working in a milestone rom that doesnt support it through some fairly dodgy hacking, and it may be possible to use the same method to get it working on the droid through the same way. i'll have a look at the source for cyanogen mod to see how different the milestone version is, and i'll get back to you on whether its possible... although it might be simpler just to pull down the droid cm7 sources and modify it that way. either way, i'll have a look and get back to you

I looked in system/build.prop, but I couldn't find any line anything similar to what you told me to look for, so I couldn't edit that. CM7 for droid does in fact have the ability to lock messaging in memory, I had no idea what that would do so I had left it unchecked.

Oh and mastur, as far as available kernels for your droid, there are Plenty. I've seen kernels for the Droid up to 1300 mhz. I personally would never run anything That high on my phone as with the Droid, once you go past 800 the phone tends to become a hand warmer. I run chevyno1's 1000 low voltage kernel. Peter alfonso has some great kernels, and so does jdlfg. All kernels you can find on clockwork mod. Clockwork mod you can find on the market and is a GREAT tool for downloading, flashing, and even backing up ROMs or kernels. Feel free to PM me with any questions man.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
sometimes if your phone has low amounts of free ram left, it will kill off the messaging app, and you wont receive messages. by locking it in memory, it prevents this from happening.
i had a look at the source for cm7, and there was a change made on the 5th of july that will allow users to set whether they want to use charge_counter, which reports in 1% steps, or capacity, which reports in the 10% steps. I honestly have no idea why no droid devs have changed to reporting in 1% steps yet...
I assume that if you use a fairly recent build, the possibility to get 1% steps exists. Unfortunately there's no way of knowing for sure whether it's implemented in your build unless you try it. If you're using a nightly build im almost certain it'll be able to work.
in the comments in the source, it says they're using ro.product.use_charge_counter in build.prop to decide which capacity file to use.
so, to test if you can get 1% steps to work, follow these steps:
first, make sure you do a backup of your phone.
1. edit /system/build.prop and add the line ro.product.use_charge_counter=1 (if the line already exists, just make it =1)
2. replace /system/bin/battd with the one in the zip i've attached. you'll want to backup your old one as well
3. reboot
if you need further explanation of those steps, i'll be glad to explain them a bit more clearly for you.
to see if this has worked, you'll need some sort of widget which reports on how much battery you have left (eg battery monitor, batt stats etc etc). If it's worked you'll see 1% steps. if it hasn't you'll probably still see 5% steps. the reason for this is that the battery icon in you status bar doesnt have the required images to show 1% steps, so it'll keep showing the 10% steps. theres probably an explanation on how to fix this somewhere in the 1% steps thread in the milestone forum
now, as always there is a degree of risk when trying anything like this (especially as i have no way of testing it, as i have a milestone, not a droid). I just tested my phone with no battd file at all, and it was still able to boot and run fine, it just permanently said my phone was at 100%
The worst possible result from attempting this is that your phone will report your phone is at 0% and unless you have a charger connected, it will shut down immediately after you reboot. to fix this, connect your phone to a charger, and either restore your complete backup, or replace /system/bin/battd with your original one.
If your phone still reports 10% steps, you'll also want to restore your backup. the battd file i've provided is the one used in milestone roms, which comes from the droid2, and it can be a bit picky about non-genuine batteries.
Wow, thank you for that in depth run down on how to attempt to present 1% steps. The only problem is when I try to edit/save/delete/replace battd, it gives me an error report and says something about how editing/saving/deleting/replacing failed. Ill try editing it again and show an 'EDIT' at the bottom of this post with the error message
EDIT - The error message says "could not (save/delete/move) file"
I'm getting errors with no matter what I try to remove or save. Is there something I need to install or check for? Its like rooting my phone only allowed me to download and load roms

are you using adb or terminal emulator?
if you're using adb, get android terminal emulator from the market it's a bit easier to use.
it sounds like the system partition is still read only.
open up terminal emulator, then run these commands. (the | character can be found by pressing shift alt and comma)
Code:
su
cat /proc/mounts | grep system
mine returns this, but yours may return any mtdblock number
Code:
/dev/block/mtdblock6 /system
then run
Code:
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system
if you have the battd file in the root of your sdcard, you can then run this to copy it across:
Code:
cp -f /sdcard/battd /system/bin/
Well that was fun. Idk if I did something wrong or what, but now I can't boot into recovery, I can't do a factory reset and I can't install roms or anything I get from rom manager. If I try to boot into recovery the motorola M stays there extra long, then the phone resets and loads straight into cyanogenmod... really confused because I tried to re enter the commands and it keeps saying they're not found. Turns out I need a lot of help to fix this, I'm pretty much freaking out

I was looking around for a thread for this phone, but found nothing. I hope people start working on it, I'd like to mod it.
Is there anything I can do to help, like dumping the rom? Do any of the current tools even work on it?
I read somewhere Kyocera was going to put out an upgrade to 2.1, bit I can't find anything besides a mention of that.
EDIT: FEB 22, 2011
NEW 2.2 THREAD
YES! It is actually out! For real!
EDIT: Jan 27, 2011
It was released (somewhere around page 76) that Android 2.2 would be released Late Feb to early March.
START NEW THREADS!
If you have questions other than modding, it would help to put it in a new thread with the prefix subject "Kyocera Zio M6000 - "
I figure if lots of threads pop up like that it would be more likely that they'd notice it and actually create it's own forum. If everything is just tagged onto this thread, then it will just get huge and unnavigable, and the mods won't notice enough activity.
Update:
hotaru was awesome enough to post a full dump of the Zio for us:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8907621&postcount=287
If you look around this thread you'll find info about rooting the phone. Also in this thread a port Clockwork Recovery was released. There are some issues with it that were not resolvable. Such as if you boot to Clockwork and don't actually reset the phone, it will lose the Cricket settings and revert to Verizon. So it will work to recover a ROM and backup, but you need to also need to reset or restore when you go there.
Wasn't sure where to post this since there is no HW section for this phone, so I put it here in hacking general...
Could someone create a forum for it and move this post to it?
EDIT:
To root the phone people have had success with 1-click root for N1
And the MSL# is 000000
The debug ACCESS CODE is #777468
A copy of the 1.6 rom here
Will update here with any usefull info.
Also, this thing has absolutely no multi-touch, even though all the blogs says it does.
For Tethering. PdaNet (I can't post any links cause i'm a new user, just do a Google Search and click "I'm Feeling Lucky")
Works like a Charm.
Currently Using the Free Version and it works GREAT.
Even has an SMS client built in so you can reply to your messages while your tethered.
Just make sure USB Debugging is on and you'll have no problem.
I also put in a request for a user group for this phone. I emailed one of the admins directly and he told me if they get enough requests they may create it.
What I have really been looking for is either a hacked up upgrade Rom to either enclair or group for this phone.

I second that motion. The seems to be the first legit prepaid android phone, and it isn't really getting any attention, anywhere :-/
Which I find quite odd. I personally have the EVO and love it but I did buy this phone for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it and for a prepaid phone with a price point of 230 bucks you really cant beat it. Especially for 55 a month. I would think more people would be flocking to this. I have even considered giving up my evo for it but I do like the 4g. And the Build of the Evo is much higher quality.
Root
I think getting the thing rooted is important. All of the wifi tether apps require that. I read somewhere that someone had done it.
Do you find your girlfriend's Zio crashes when trying to watch video that you are opening from a link? Mine does every time :-(
Yup, lots of freezing, soft and hard.
I can't get rid of a "cdma: reorder" error after installing GoogleVoice. Now I can only make calls through GV or I'll get the error. I really need a better ROM, they better come out with 2.1 ASAP.
I also hope the no multitouch is only a sw issue and not a hw one.
i totally agree with you guys this phone needs some tweeking

Multitouch is something that is enabled in the kernel. I'm sure that the update to 2.1 will bring multi touch.

The Zio can be rooted, download the file, email it to yourself, and open it on the phone. It is easy peasy ;-)
Paste this into the search up top: 1-click root for N1

Wifi tether works like a champ.
No problems with my girlfriends phone I played with it for at least 2 or 3 hours when I first got it and eveything appeared to work fine. The only thing that I really didnt like was the factory keyboard I heard swiftkey got a major upgrade and was thinking about using it as a replacement especially cause it has the voice to text feature. And I may root her phone as well to give that wifi tether a shot. But what I would really like to see is some kind of upgrade to 2.X I think that it what will really make this phone shine.

I second this motion.
Step 1: Download APN Backup & Restore from Market
Step 2: Open APN Backup & Restore
Step 3: Backup APNs
Step 4: Plug phone into computer with USB cable.
Step 5: Drag notification bar from the top, tap the USB connection notification, and Mount the SD card to your computer.
Step 6: Find the mounted drive on the computer (may be D:, E:, F:, G:, for example) by opening My Computer. Open it.
Step 7: Go into the APNBackup&Restore folder.
Step 8: Right click on your backed up APNs (maybe like 201009041233-apns.xml or something or whatever you named them when you did a Backup APNs)n
Step 9: Open with Notepad or Word Pad if it asks you.
Step 10: Highlight all text with your mouse, or use Ctrl + A to select all.
Step 11: After all text is highlighted, use Ctrl + C to copy the text OR go to the 'Edit' menu at the top with your mouse, and choose 'Copy'.
Step 12: Reply to this topic in this thread, right click in the text box where you type, and choose 'Paste'.
Step 13: Revel in good feelings as you provide very valuable help to the Android community.
Thank you ahead of time, if you are willing to help.
yea do that for sure! and also maybe somebody who has root can grab the mms.apk and .odex files too =\
BakaMod V1 - Froyo's Last Stand (2.2.1 KD1)
Built on the theory that LESS is MORE. This is a MINIMALIST Rom. It uses the most up to date Froyo base I could find. Why not Ginger? Well... battery.. GPS.. there are reasons to stick with Froyo IF you want reliability, speed and long life.
The battery on this rom is PHENOMENAL!
There will not be any updates to this ROM. I built it as a learning excercise, and while I think it is pretty stable, there are a couple few issues (all documented in this post) that I'm not prepared to deal with. Take it for what you will, if anybody wants to use this to do their own work and fix the issues, feel free, no credit required!
BASE: T959VUVKD1 from the SGS 4G by drhonk
FEATURES:
Removed tons of bloat. Didn't ADD my own bloat.
Accurate Battery Mod
Cianbreadish Status Bar
Simplified Boot Animation
GPS/Speed/Zipalign/Build Prop tweaks
Loopy Smoothness Tweak
No Full Battery Alert
No T-Mobile boot or shutdown sounds/animation.
6 Lockscreen/Power Menu Mod
KB1 Modem - Cuz I got great battery life.
Yes I know what Baka means. I use the term affectionately.
KERNEL: Bali-X 1.2
LAUNCHER: NemusLauncher
GPS
Should work perfectly as do all Froyo ROMs. I got a very quick lock (under 10 seconds) on first boot with this setup, with 10 satellites.
LAUNCHER
I went out on a limb including a relatively unheard of launcher. However, I find it to be a very lightweight and responsive launcher. A little different than you may be used to, it defaults to manual sorting of apps. To change this behaviour, from the app drawer, select Menu->MainMenu Style->Alphabetical, and it will go to vertical scrolling alphabetically.
KNOWN ISSUES
1. Apps2SD - KD1 assumes you want apps on the SDCard, even if the app doesn't prefer that location. Can cause issues. Only apps that explicitely block being installed to SD get installed to Phone Memory.
2. Wifi Calling - Not ported and probably won't be.
3. 4G Icon - I didn't notice it was still in the theme. Rest assured, your phone hasn't been granted magical 4G capability.
4. Locales: I won't be porting these. Looks like a nightmare, and unless this ROM becomes popular (which it won't), there's not much benefit.
5. Camera - It has the FFC button, but I'm not sure if the FFC works without additional hacking. Haven't tried it, I don't have an FFC.
INSTALL
The usual - flash from CWM. If you have issues, WIPE FIRST. Does not require any special boot loaders. Nothing to see here.
GET BLOATED
View the BLOAT on my website here: http://tsukaima.net/KD1Bloat/ and download whatever is missing that you want. Drop the missing junk into /system/app via ADB or Root Explorer, and feel re-bloated! Do note that these Bloats are for KD1 only!
Any other Google Bloat can be gotten from the market.
DOWNLOAD
http://www.multiupload.com/IW8EV3BT9X
NOTE:
I pulled the default Undervolt version. The only difference is it included the config file that you can generate using the Voltage Control app. It also crapped out some phones. I did this rather than a 1.1 release. After what appeared to be stable testing of the 1.1 release with only minor changes, it suddenly went crashy and bootloopy. Probably due to changes in the startup scripts, those things are touchy.
So... consider this the first and last release of BakaMod. Why? Well, there are some issues with KD1 that were never resolved, such as its installing apps to SD Card regardless of app preferences, as well as a few other minor issues that I'm just not prepared to address. As is, it is a usable ROM, but I plan to spend my energy elsewhere and let this release stand for what it is, which is actually a pretty usable 2.2.1.

I think you'd have to re-sign the zip if you did that. It might be better just to pull the existing one with adb and then push it back, or use root explorer.
The reason I didn't include the 3G tweaks from his thread, are that they are typically more or less helpful for each user depending on the local network conditions.

Phone is about to boot! Voodoo just got done activating...nice boot animation reminds me of the stock Mytouch 3g one lol I always adored that for some reason. Now I got to wait until 3:30 (midwest) to reboot ugh
I was just on JFD two days ago because I just got off of CM7 to flash DMZ and I JFD'd to flash this ROM as well time consuming, but I think its worth it...
When I boot up my phone it boots up first it boots then it has to boot over again 0.o hard to explain, but at first my phone wouldn't get signal then I had to reboot again (after the initial one) now everything is fine and I'm gonna dive into this ROM.

Odd, not sure why it would double boot... Mine hasn't done that and I've flashed this several times tweaking everything. Maybe it is due to the recent ODIN? Or are you still on GB boot loaders maybe? If it continues to act up, it could be due to undervolting... I took a risk including that by default, but I think most phones can handle the settings I included. If not, I'll update it and let people undervolt via the market app, but in my experience it's a little daunting to be setting that up yourself for most people.

Oooh, good catch. I'm not sure - and I do randomly use that feature in my car (have audio go through the car speakers)... I will let you know once I try it. If not, I'll have to investigate the issue.
Say, the Russian language there is? how much RAM?
Just to get used to the android OS dev side I am going to attempt to blend Meego/Maemo features with android. I will be using the V10k firmware as a basis.
I'm curious as to features you may wish to see in a rom. My main goals are:
Tri-screen functionality: Custom home, Apps, Running apps (Similair to Meego)
Customizable folders for the app screen
Onestop Keyboard (Swype, switch between qwerty and T9/numeric style)
3d functionality remaining
Possible Debian install
Removal of ALL spare apps. If it isn't required, it's gone.
EDIT:
Possible extra features
Option to uninstall apps from app screen via long press.
Option to hide/lock apps
EDIT (Final):
PROGRESS: Android is a surpisingly easy OS to work on and there is a LOT of devel to look at in terms of starting points for coding. I currenty have a debian distro runningwith the android OS. Apt-get works fine, however there is not enough space install any application. This Rom may either be out very soon, or depending on memory issues my be impossible without relying on an SD.
Unlocked tether and wifi hot spot
I'm most concerned with battery longevity. Don't know if you'd call that a feature, but to me it's one of the most important parts.
Wish List for new ROM on LG Thrill
I love this Thrill, for the most part, but I wish that the Phone app, where you see the
Dial, Call Log, Contact and Groups, would work same way as the Stock Android does... basicaly, take out the Groups and put Favorits.
This Group to me is very slow every time I click on it takes 5 to 10 seconds to load.. and then I have to presse the Favorits... which I use the most... so..
Yes, I have about 1700 contacts on my list, but even with just a just contacts, this buttons GROÜPs is very slow.
Also, I wish that the Flash on teh 3D camera mode would work, because right now, only in 2D mode is that the Flash works... I think it is just a setting in some internal files or on the Camera apps that blocks the Flash when in Video or still pic.
Thanks and let us know if these changes are possible or not.
Ron
WIFI Unlock and tether: I belieive its been done on other roms so it should be no problem
Battery: I will see what I can do. The ROM will just be a bare bones OS so there should be very little to eat up the battery.
Contacts to favorites and camera flsh: I'll have to look into this and let you know.

There is a reason behind the flash not working during 3D. They blocked it because the light from the flash messes with the 3D camera. Sure this could be a feature still, just saying this doesn't work for a good reason.

I was actually thinking on waiting for the Gingerbread update before starting. The update should be coming anywhere between novemeber and the end of december.
If I wait, then it will give me a bit more time to get familiar with android as an OS andcome up with various way to get the maemo/meego/android mix feel just right. Progress has been fairly fast however. I'm still having memory issues with the debian however. Also, the UI get very buggy. I might just look into utilizing some outside programs.
How would you guys feel if I outed the stock home and keyboard and replaced it with someothing like GO launcher and keyboard?
As long as the keyboard has the speak to text capability, because although mines rooted with thriller, i don't like using swype just to have that option.. it should be on the default keyboards too.

Stock android keyboard has speech to text. Its just disabled by default. I don't use the LG keyboard so I don't know about that one.

Something else that would be nice is the ability to reboot into recovery. Not a big deal but a nice feature.

Maybe Undervolting, anything to help battery life... patiently waiting for the Gingerbread update to arrive for the Thrill
The reboot option is actually a great idea Ill look into that, I probably will not have an undervolt OR even an overclock option as Im sure it will require a custom kernel. Kernel are something I rarely play with and when I do it's only a temp thing.

The reboot option is used in thriller, oops wrong reboot. I think there was a reason the reboot to recovery didn't work, I remember reading about it in thriller thread.

I am working on an application which will shut down my sons media player only captivate at a specific time. I have it working but am not particularly good at drawing or coming up with good ideas for an icon for it.
Does anybody have any ideas?
AutoShutdown.apk
FYI I built it for 2.2 but tested it on 2.3 (my captivate) and it requires root access (it essentially creates a service that at a specific time calls "reboot -p".
Update Info:
1.10 Changed to using an Alarm.
1.5 Moved the Save button to the bottom.
1.4 Revamped to use a Handler instead of a thread thus reducing the overhead because I am not checking the time every 45 seconds, I just delay the shutdown for however many milliseconds it would take to get to the requested time.
1.3 Fixed the not shutting down issue (at least under 2.3, I will test on 2.2 tonight). Added alpha channel to the icon.
1.2 Added simple icon
1.1 Added an Enabled checkbox. Setting the shown time to the last time entered. Fixed killing the old thread.
1.0 Basically worked with whatever the last time you entered
Well this worked in testing via the debugger but for some reason my sons phone isn't turning off...
1.3 fixes this problem. I was being a bit too aggressive on waiting for a thread to end.
I have found that 2.2's reboot command does not accept the -p parameter which means that this will not work. If some one has another method I would be more than happy to add it in.
Only tested to work on 2.3, primarily under Fusion XII. Its been working fine for me.
very cool idea., any idea if it'll work on ICS?
No clue since i don't have a device with ICS.
can i use in motorola milestone or other device ?

I'd suggest a power icon with clock hands on it as the icon. If you want I could make a quick one for you.

That would be neat. My wife made that one up pretty quickly.
I have just verified that the code still works under Android 4.2.2.
cron4phone app, free on google play, does same, and also lets you vary schedule by day, etc, and schedule many other tasks as well. you do need root for it to work.
Good to know. I had originally made it for my sons phone.
Hello kevria,
Are you still working on this project? I have a couple of suggestions.

I havent been but I still have the source code so could modify it as needed. I also havent had a reason to use this since my son's android device died.
My condolences
Well, I can't find a countdown shutdown app anywhere, was wondering if you could make do so.
Not on a specific time, but like 1 Hour or 10 minutes count down.
Hope you will be interested :fingers-crossed:
I will see if I can get the source to build and make the change. Im pretty sure I had it calculating out the amount of time from now until the shutdown time so it should be simple to modify the code.
The app isnt building due to a xml error that I will have to track down when I have time. You could use the app as is and figure out what 1.5 hours from now is...
Hello try creating a shortcut on your home screen, go to the application manager.
I have lost the source code to this app so I won't be able to make any changes.

FAQ:
[Q] Pons, why are you compiling your own? Why don't we get official CM10.1 goodness?
[A] Well, now, why don't you take a gander at this: CyanogenMod: CM 9+, N1 (and other S1 SoC)
[Q] Gee, Pons, this here looks fun. How do I compile it myself?
[A] Here ya go, lil guy. Just follow these instructions: How to Compile CM10.1 for the Inc (if you encounter any issues using this to compile, please report here so I can troubleshoot and update if need be)
[Q] Why did you disappear?
[A] Long story short, my computer broke right before I went on a business trip. Now I'm stuck on a side of mountain, but only have a 256kbps internet, which has a lot of filters on it (I actually can't download from Goo.im; I have to ssh into my profile to download.)
[Q] Well, that doesn't sound pleasant. Are you back for good?
[A] Maybe, maybe not. Some good people are allowing me to use their build box, so that's how I'm maintaining right now. I'll keep it up, till I get moved again, or they decide to revoke my access.
[Q] Oh. That's cool. Onto what really matters: how often are you going to update?
[A] Will shoot for weekly, or bi-weekly (if major changes come out). The internet is painfully slow, and I don't want to abuse the build bot access I was given. Or until I move or get revoked access.
Credits/Thanks
All credit goes to Cyanogen and the rest of the CM team, and especially our HTC Incredible maintainers, as listed by the CyanogenMod site: jistone (aka CUViper/This Guy), slayher, and of course, koush. Of course, don't forget about the Evervolv team, who have given our outdated qsd8k device a lot of love, despite being dropped by CM.
In addition, tiny4579 for his incredikernel, and for helping with my builds while I'm away.
For some reason, I have received several requests to put a donation link in my profile. You can always donate to the CyanogenMod project or the Evervolv project, but if you feel you HAVE to donate to me, I've put a link in my profile, and all donations will go towards upgrading my computer, so I can stay on top of this for CM10.2/11/and beyond.
Footnote: This thread is a WIP. I will probably restructure it and try to make it look pretty, and I might add a Q&A thread, depending on how many inane and repetitive questions I get that take away from development. I also didn't include any Launcher screen shots, since that is the easiest thing to change and theme. And I see that people have already tried the ROM, since I have 4 downloads so far, and 1 was me. Thoughts/problems?
Reserved....
Particularly let me know if there are any crippling bugs (or bugs period) that differ from what is listed as the known issues, and from tiny's.
Also, any issues with the embedded Superuser? It has had minimal testing, despite being put together by a ninja coder, Koush, and that is one reason it has not made it into CM10.1 Nightlys.
Great to have you back Pons. I'm having zero issues the new su. It seems to boot a little faster.

It should boot a tiny bit faster, as well as su access being better/quicker. It's now an integrated part of Settings, as opposed to a separate app.
Bear in mind that Superuser is still a work in progess. Superuser and binary itself have 0 issues (that I can tell) as far as granting, prompting, denying, etc, but the app needs a little UX work. For instance, go into Settings > Superuser. Click the little icon at the very bottom, this opens up the log. Click the icon in the bottom left, and this does nothing. Koush is aware of these issues, and will correct them when he gets around to it. I'm more interested in if it (or Settings) FC, or if something is not getting root.
A user said:
there seems to be some UX inconsistency in the app. When i click on the log button it brings me into the log, which is fine. However, the button immediately becomes redundant in that said screen. It has no function whatsoever.
Also, i thought there should be a back function tied to the icon so that i can return to the main screen... no?

Is there a way someone could work on the offline voice to text ? Is this going to replace tinys cm10.1 ROM ? Nice work!
Completely wiped phone, EMMC, SD. Took the opportunity to install TWRP, and had a blast playing around with it (used your .zip from that thread). Installed this ROM and Tiny's 2/7/13 GAPPS.
I'm not sure what issues will pop up from the flash-over crowd, but clean install was a flawless process. You guys keep giving me reasons to carry this phone. Well played, by everyone involved.

If you make enough room in the system partition and copy the correct libraries into the gapps zip before flashing offline dictation should work. It does on Tiny's, at least.
Out of curiosity, is there about significant difference between this and Tiny's? Pretty much just superuser?

As far as the end user is concerned? There's that and the status bar battery mod, one of my favorite tweaks since my CM7 days. I don't know exactly what tiny throws in his, but I put in a couple of security hardening picks that most/all users won't notice or feel.

Probably not. Tiny and I generally work together to make CM10.1 better for the Inc. I opened this thread because I can compile and tweak stuff when tiny's busy, but I can't really test it myself. I don't have data, wifi, or gps on my phone where I'm at, and it takes me 3-5 hours to download each ROM. So I opened this to get a wider range of testers.

It works if you put the files into place, just like on Tiny's ROM. I modified Tiny's gapps, removed some stuff I didn't want and added in the offline files. I still have to delete some stuff from the ROM to make room for the offline files, so my gapss aren't share-worthy. But it works for me.

No issues here. I did wipe /system (due to the way I install gapps with offlinevoice to text files) and cache (for good measure) before installing, but I didn't wipe any data.

Never really used it. From what I remember, though, it's a kernel tweak that chad put in. Tiny forked his tree, so unless tiny reverted the commit (which I doubt), it should still be in there (internet is way too slow for me to go digging around randomly). As for how to verify it's working, I completely forget. I'm vaguely sure a way does exist beyond watching it charge quickly, but can't remember.

Fastcharge is definitely an option in the kernel that ships with the ROM. It's off by default but the free incredicontrol can enable it. The only thing it does is enable the full charge speed for USB connections which is risky if it comes from a PC as the PC USB ports are only designed for 500mah of current. I've done it safely and i actually have fastcharge USB on by default on my inc but I still have to throw out the warning to be careful.
As far as verifying there are a few ways:
1. Check the value of /sys/kernel/fast_charge/fast_charge_usb. It's 1 for on and 0 for off.
2. Monitor mA current on USB charging and if it's over 500 mA then fast charge USB is working.
3. Check the kernel log in terminal ater plugging the phone into a USB connection, it should report switch charger (Fast) at the bottom.
su
dmesg | grep "Switch charger"
I am a big fan of fastcharge. Although battery health could be a factor, I am suspicious that both fastcharge and DSP manager have gone the way of budweiser served in Utah. My power supply used to get scorching hot and I could get a green light from empty in about 2 hours on the 3500 battery. Now I use the stock battery and it takes at least about 3 hours or longer to get it charged. DSP Manager still works, is much more subtle. I have had to resort to using a second eq app alongside DSP Manager to get levels right.

Work is ramping up, and so is school. No time to actually do more than minor tinkering, so thread is more or less redundant of tiny's. On that note, closed. I'll still try to push out weekly builds (tiny said I could post in his thread whenever I had a build), but no promises.
