[Q] Pissed off at myself - LG Revolution

So... I am rolling up my sleeves, brewing some coffee, and downloading ADB. After a mismatch with Md5, Mark did something dumb (maybe). So now, I am going to do some learning. Anyone wanna jump on IRC, and help a duder out? I will be on allllllll night.
Edit: And an hour later, I am stuck.

Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums and Read THIS
Moving to General

Sorry I figured my message was in regards to ADB, so I figured development was a good place to post.

jaybob or kush deck aosp

Which of these roms will make my old heroc that my gf is currently using quicker to the touch with more battery life. she is currently running aospcm 234.
Seriously how much more aosp can you get.... I used my heroc for a whole year either running cm or something by the dev aosp. now I have jaybob, evervolv, kush deck, etc.... Can someone who has used these roms individually from a non biased standpoint tell me which to use and why? (refrain from fanboy banter)
In the meantime I'm going to put kush deck with jaybobs kernel on there.

Depending on the patience level of your girlfriend, you might want to refrain from Jaybob's kernal. The camera is sometimes intermittent.
If she just wants everything to work, you should consider AOSPs froyo, everything is rock solid stable.
I'm currently trying out Deck, I've used all of them and the only quirk that bothers me is sometimes the GPS signal gets lost. I've actually lowered the max cpu settings and it hasn't happened since...but I'm sure it will.

Although I have not yet tried deck, I have tried aosp's , cm7 (not the latest rc, tho), evervolv, and jaybob's. I would say that out out those, jaybob's was the most hassle-free. Just make sure to flash the .29 kernel so to avoid camera issues (which the .35 tends to have ).

Btw, this should be posted in the q&a section.....
Gin & Salsa
I have been on both. Although I used deck longer both Jaybob's and deck were both equally smooth and hassle free. I recently moved to the most recent CM7 release (not nightly) and love it. It's my new daily driver.
Good luck!

How, would anyone in general or q&a section be able to properly answer that question? And not to mention as promptly as you all just did.
at this point my question has been
answered already thanks a lot guys the heroc community is my favorite.
Just a side note. How do I get rid of the post since its bothering a few people. I think op should be able to delete all somehow right?

Your post in the dev section didn't bother me at all, I just told you it was in the wrong section (as an afterthought...) because there had been quite a bit of hoopla going on lately over that subject (non-dev related posts in the dev section) ... Not so much in the hero c threads, but still. as for getting answered, a lot of knowledgeable people read the q&a section simply because they like helping. You would definitely get answered, maybe not quite as promptly, but definitely.
You can ask a mod to delete the post if you like.
Gin & Salsa
we are here to help thats what xda is for as long as u dont post questions in development your fine if u have a specific question about a rom post it in that roms thread and youll get help alot faster and if it has to do with a bug it helps developers fix the rom to make it better. so please just dont start new threads in development asking questions.

99% of the people in here have tried most ROMs. And on top of all those still here, many of us still check these threads that finally moved on to bigger, better phones.

"Oh my! You look even uglier in 3D"
Cool..cool.. anywho I hear ya on the bigger and badder phones. I'm on evo shift now and love it. When I was on heroc still the best rom imo was aosps froyo. Might very well be still. But gf has heroc now and I want to make sure her phone can keep up with mine. honestly the hero gets better cell service then my shift does. anyways back to the point at hand.. The heroc scene blew back up and I'm excited about it. these deck roms have one hell of a reputation from what I'm gathering. But jaybobs sort of specializing in this phone vs the mass produced roms of kush. I wish I could grab some more opinions from you guys if you have the time.

And this is why q n a section fails. There should be a 24 post option in the development section where everyone I need to talk to is currently residing. You could call it "quick question". Go ahead use that... You're welcome

What the hell are you talking about? How did the Q&A section fail? It's been most helpfull to me.
Qna fails because I originally posted in development and got like five answers in an hour... they moved it to here and I haven't gotten anything but you in days.

For your GF, I'd ruu her back to stock unless she's a techie , then let her decide.. I spend my time trying all these roms for the heroc and I've yet to find one that doesn't have one problem or the other on my particular phone.. Right now I'm on omfgb and its pretty cool, but it has its own set of problems..
did we seriously just do a full 360 on this dude just an fyi the same people that post in development look around in q/a to help out and same goes for general its the exact same comunity. and not as maney people posted afterwords because you already had answers so why would someone reapeat what someone else has already said bottom line is read the forum rules and post in the correct section!

I don't need to watch the noob video I follow xda on twitter.. I know the rules of xda and follow (mostly ^_^) them but have watched them be bent and broken. A feature where questions are temp posted and can be answered quickly would be cool. That's all I'm getting at. the qna section is very useful yes. ps did you notice that the percent of purple complaining about me posting in the wrong section was about equal to the number of thoughtful answers to my questions. Id say its not a problem half the time. No hard feelings. love xda the the users.

if we make a thread inside the dev section for answering questions it would defeat the purpose of THIS q&a section, wouldn't it.......one way to find out which rom is the most popular would be to scan the number of posts in each rom's thread. For instance, look at the amount of activity in the aospcmod gb thread. Easily the most popular rom.

For simplicity and stability, jaybob's aosp with the .29 kernel is pretty good. Very vanilla.

BootTools Native Compile

I have been trying to get these BootTools from github compiled for android cross compiled for android for around 2 weeks without success, they build but when I unpack and repack my boot.img and then cat it to the block, it hangs at the boot screen and then reboots into recovery, when I repeat the same process on my desktop with the perl scripts it works perfect so I come here to ask for help on getting these tools cross compiled to run natively on android in a manner that works, thanks Mark.

Two things...
One: You posted in the wrong section, report and get it moved.
Two: Read the rules again. This time don't ignore the rules about bumping.
well this is android development which section should I be in? also I find it a little petty that people can't post to help someone but they can to tell them they are in the wrong section, childish!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974569 are you asking a question or do you have some development you want to post?
And keep your childish comments to yourself!
Point taken that I am in the wrong place fair enough. As for the other thing all I ever see on all forums is people being passive agressive with each other, this in my mind and probably in the minds of the people who are operating in this way is not how things should be within a community of people who are supposed to be helping each other, just because somebody has senior or moderator next to there credentials does not make them any less important than anybody else, or less entitled to information or help, so you keep your snotty remarks YOUR self unless you have something construvtive to say, thanks.

Congrats that you think you are above the forum rules.
In case you forgot I've request this thread moved.
I didn't think I was above the rules read my last post, I didn't know.

Welcome to the internet man. That is all we have around here is passive aggressiveness. I have Moderator next to my name and yes it doesn't allow me to be any more entitled than anyone else. Oh wait, entitlement is one of the things that are driving Devs away. It does allow me to move threads, clean them and enforce the rules when necessary.
Maybe The Rules need to be re-read about how and where to post (#15).
Thread Moved to Q&A
wow
Give the guy a break..he got it wrong..so what..and yes he is right about people and big heads how important you are..moderate don't belittle someone for getting it wrong..And yes I wait in anticipation of your reply.. Lol

How do I flash ROMs and kernels with s-on

Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
Sorry to sound like a **** but XDA isn't a help site. It's a development site.
Do we mind helping people if they need it? Of course not, otherwise Q&A sections wouldn't exist BUT we expect users to also help themselves.
Over the last couple of days, I've noticed you've created a fair few threads asking questions which can easily be solved by searching. Believe me, searching works. It's not just there to look pretty.
You'll manage to learn and know a lot more if you actually search for the answer yourself. Plus you may get that extra good feeling inside because you've been able to answer your own questions without having to ask other people all the time.
Sorry I wont spam anymore west ion sir. Take care!!!

That went well.

New guy checking in.

Just wanted to pop in and say hey, I have been lurking around for along time and finally decided to sign up and join in.
This is my first smart phone that I have ever attempted to root/unlock (note 2) and had absolutely no idea how to go about it, so after about a week of reading I finally took the plunge, and from guidance from you guys it was all worth it. So I just want to give a big Thanks to you guys for the videos, write ups and the time you guys spend doing what you do.
And if this us posted in the wrong place sorry. Thanks again guys.

Ten post rule, and why it's needed.
Like I said above, sorry if I posted in the wrong place. I didnt see the thread to post just to say hi. I also didnt start this thread to up my post count, but to say thanks for the work that these developers put in to their work. I posted in the off topic discussion because I thought it was off topic and by all means please move it to the right thread if it offends anyone.

Downgrade firmware?

I have upgraded from 4.3 to the leaked mlg 4.4.2. I have read that our is possible to go back to mj5 from here. Is that possible? Thank you for the help.

You should try reading.
Your question has been posted and answered so many times that Hellen Keller has seen it.
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
From the mlg 4.4 leak you can downgrade to mj5. Just follow the thread in the general section that says restore mj5.
Thank you 440bro. I'm sorry graydiggy for not having time to read every thread and question posted. I have a very hectic work and home life. I will strive to be more like you.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
There is a thread specific to MLG in the general section. Discussion of downgrading has been posted multiple times there.
Also, the MJ5 revert thread mentions it multiple times. Both are on the front page of the general section.
I work 12 to 15 hours a day at multiple ship yards, 5 days a week. Then I go home to my wife and kid, yet I still manage to find the time to read and learn as well as teach people how to do stuff with their phones. How do you think I gained the title of Recognized Contributer? There is no excuse to not read and learn for yourself. If you truly do not have the time, you should not be trying to modify your phone, because if you mess up, you won't have the time to fix it. Furthermore, the time wasted by posting this thread, and reading the responses could be used to learn for yourself.
XDA is a development community first. The rules clearly state to read before posting. If you can't find the time to do that, then you should not be here.

I understand everyone is busy. I appreciate the help here. I read the thread about downgrading b4 I posted just didn't see a confirmation on it working out of the 1k+ comments. I have rechecked and still have missed the other thread you've mentioned. I work in a similar environment. I can relate to long hours at work, multiple hours driving to and from work and dealing with 3+ kids and school activities everyday. I just think it's a little childish to comment liked that. When you get older you will understand. But thank you for your time. I hope you have a splendid day.
