[Q] PG32DIAG.nbh - HTC Incredible S

What is thi file about?
When I start the bootloader I always get a message,
[PG32DIAG.nbh].............No image or wrong image
Rest of the checks are fine.

When you enter boot loader it scans the root of your SD card looking for files that it will flash automatically if it finds them. If it doesn't find a file with that name it displays that message. If you are concerned about the "wrong image" portion of the message, then simply check the root of your SD card and make sure you don't have any files that start with PG32*.*

check the CID first

Thanks for the answers,
It`s unlocked using Revolutionary.
there`s nothing named PG32*.* in the SD Root which makes it strange.
It`s not an urgent problem as it doesnt stop anything, but I`m curious, as even google finds just few results about PG32DIAG.nbh

[tut] flash rom without pc (sd card method)

0. Make sure phone is hard-spl first
1. Make sure SD card is formatted with fat-32
2. rename the image file (ruu_signed.nbh) to rhodimg.nbh, then copy that to the ROOT OF THE MICRO SD CARD, Insert card into phone
3. Set your phone in bootloader (Hold the "volume down" and hold the power on button until you see the tri-color screen.
4. Then follow the on-screen instruction
5. (OPTIONAL) -after flash, make sure to hardreset (pull battery, insert battery then hold green and red PHONE buttons (send/end) and hold powerbutton) follow onscreen instruction.
thanks for the info
I've tried the above and somehow it won't work on my TP2, it stays at "Serial" text in the white box, I'm assuming it already went past the SD slot then? Checking for the image.
I have the Energy rom loaded on the SD card, named as explained in the first post in this topic, it is placed in the root of the SD card, no folders or other files exist on that card. I removed the SIM card from the phone just to be sure. Is there anything I am missing, or is there anyone else who actually used this method to flash his or her device?
Info:
SPL: OliNex 0.85
ROM: |RHOD|6.5|ROM|WWE| ★ EnergyROM "Warhawk" (23016) ★ | Built Aug 21 |Manila 2.5 / 2.1|
SD Card: 4GB MicroSDHC (No brand on card, supplied with the branded T-Mo TP2 (Vario V)
Formatted: fat-32
Thanks
The nbh file needs to be in capital letters! RHODIMG.nbh
And step 5 isnt to be done until the "Tap screen to set up device" screen!
Just reset when your phone says Update successful!
And done, name changed to the correct format. No luck. Reformatting the card now to see if that changes anything. Update in a few.
And that too didn't work sadly. Either someone here notices I'm doing something wrong, or I'll just wait till I get near a machine natively running Windows Running Mac OS here so can't run the executable, and read that it's not quite a good idea to flash it from a virtual OS.

You will want to partition your card so the nbh image is in a partion of at the largest 1G, anything larger makes it hard for the phone to find and read the nbh file! I have a 1G card just for flashing and it works perfect! And it also may be the mac, they never play nice with windows!
It's not the mac screwing it up in this case as I am using a virtual Windows OS to work on the card. (MacOS leaves some folders on the card that I don't want on it)
Will try partitioning the card, cheers. I'll update when I know more. ANd thanks for the help ^_^
Update:
Partioned the MicroSD card to 0.5GB, no change sadly.
thanks for information
Ok, SD update worked now, however, step 5 won't go (Oh crap...) Have the grey screen with "Update Complete" and "UPDATE SUCCESS" However, it won't do anything if I hold down Send/End/Power at the same time for over 10 seconds. How long should that take normally? What's my best option right now? Can't see any other than to unplug the phone and take out the battary, however, will this brick it?

When is says "UPDATE SUCCESS", just rest with the stylus.

Thanks for the swift reply! Done it, it's booting up as I am typing this. Didn't quite have the guts to just do that without having read I could when flashing from SD. (Was unsure how the device would react to soft reset then a first booth with the SD present etc)
Anyways, rambling. Thanks!
these post are telling me how to flash while the rom is already on the phone, but i'm missing the step on how to get the rom file on the phone in order to move it to the sd card.......... how do i get the file to the phone? do i put it onto the phone from the computer or do i go to my browser on my phone and download it from there to the phone

Everything you need to know is HERE. I really suggest you fully read the instructions so you avoid bricking your phone by mistake.
In re: making sure you're hardspl'd first, does that still apply if you're flashing an official ROM? Or just for user cooked ROMs?
I'm about to update my Verizon TP2 with the newly released official 6.5 from verizon. I'm not hard spl'd, and honestly, know very little about that particular modification.
not for official
I dont think you have to be hard SPL'd for an official ROM. I think everything is included in the ROM package. (at least for T-Mobile it is)
btw the .nbh does not have to be named in all capitals. I have personally done it both ways with no problems at all. RHODIMG.nbh works just as well as rhodimg.nbh

Thanks for the quick response!
Sadly, the way the install file is set up to work, I can't get to the nbh file. It insists on installing that via an active sync connection. I was hoping it would extract from the exe and schedule it for active sync installation, then I could hunt down the ROM, copy it to my SD card, and run it from there.

hmm.. sorry for kicking this post, but you can unpack the exe-file with winrar. just grab the biggest file you can find (RUU_signed.nbh, and rename it to rhodimg.nbh), copy it to your root-folder (fast way for accessing bootloader is to also copy the "EnterBootLoader.exe" -file to your SD-card, and to start that file after copying both the files). Now just enter the bootloader, and it works! (don't be scared when the screen goes black for a moment, and the bootloader has reloaded. It's meant to do that )
I still have a little question by the way: is it possible to flash the hardSPL this way? or should i rename it to something else?
No, Hard SPL needs to be done from the PC as it checks IMEI online and IP address. You only get 1 licence, can ask for more or purchase more licences, but it can't be done any other way...

Yeah, it's a pity this has been done (though I understand why...)
My device cannot connect to PC anymore, so cannot use HSPL anymore!

Much obliged. I've actually been scared off the official vzw 6.5 because of issues upgraders have reported, but someday I'll put that to use.

rogers dream can't load any update.zip

i went thru the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4280573#post4280573
and everything seems to work
i am using the 2gb sandisk sd micro card that came with my phone
step 22 is where things dont work
i tryed http://db.androidspin.com/android_build_information.asp and the cyanogenMOD and then several others
i always get the message ' installation aborted'
i thought maybe i was hitting extra buttons but i tried both the keyboard menu button and screen menu button (to start instillation)
i went back and tryed step 6 again and it wont load that update.zip (spl-signed.zip)
but (now i did this late lastnight and my memory isnt 100%) it did work the first time
now well i dont know what to do
from my understanding putting the update.zip on the root of the card is as simple as copying the update.zip to the card? (im using windows xp)
ok sorry if there is an answer somewhere but i tryed searching and could not find one
please help
thanks!
May be just a simple oversight, but make sure that Windows isn't inadvertantly adding the zip part to the file without you noticing. If you have the file extensions hidden (in windows explorer window under tools>folder options>view)
then the name of the file should be update. If you don't have the file extensions hidden, then the name should be update.zip
This has tripped many, many people up so just double check.
So my winxp is set to show file extensions and I as I understand the file would be update.zip.zip ? Well this is not the case but thank you
:/
no one else has had this issue ? Really ? Lucky me :/
Hey, does it just say "Installation Aborted" it shud say something before that...such as cant chown blah blah...(a reason basically)....also i had file transfer problems in xp too one quick way to solve it is get a hash verifier and make sure the update.zip on ur sd matches that of the dev's md5...
So no it doesn't have any other message if it did I would post it :/
Hey could somone try emailing me an update.zip that has worked rentoneffATgooglemail.com

any ideas?
Thanks,
Hi!
You mean the thread with the RUU's?
What exactly did you try to do?
Well,
I downloaded one of the RUU, renamed it to "update.zip".
Then I moved it to the SD card.
Started the phone, accessed recovery mode, and tried installing the update.
However I got the error message "invalid operation".
Try naming it PG32IMG.zip and boot into the bootloader

Sorry didn't read well. You can't just rename the executable. If you really wanted to do it manually you would need to extract it, find rom.zip and rename that one to pg32img.zip
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA Premium App
How do I run the executable?
Do I run it on the phone? I have tried looking in the forum to see how to install RUU.. but I don't see it anywhere.
Thanks in advance!
its an exe file... offcourse on your pc...
OK,
I execute it on the pc.. I get a black (command prompt / dos) screen and then it disappears..
An exe is a Windows executable, this software requires administrator rights, your phone have to be connected through usb. If it ain't working try to install the .net frameworks which can be found through Windows update, reboot pc, and try again to run it as administrator. It could take a little while before it starts though so be patient!
The rest is pretty obvious on what to do.

Also check if your downloaded file isn't corrupted. Check the filesize!
change the roms.zip to pg32img.zip
this definitely sounds like a corrupted file. Have you tried executinganother rom?
Hi there !
I'm having issues trying to RUU my Unbranded IS bought in Switzerland.
Firts thing, I saw on some forums that if the phone is Unbranded, we do not need GoldCard, but I assume, as I'm trying to install a ROM that is not for my country, I need to create that GoldCard, am I right ?
So following my thinking, I created a GoldCard on a spare SanDisk 4Gb, formatted to "slow" FAT32, getting the CID from mmc2, reversing, getting ".img", editing the sdCard with the Hex editor, with success.
But when I launch the "RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_Virgin_Mobile_AU_2.12.981.2_R_Radio_20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.12_M_release_185029_signed.exe", I'm still getting the following error :
131 - Incorrect Client ID
I thought my GoldCard is kinda corrupted, or something else, so I checked if I could open it in Windows => No problem.
I compared the 1'st sector of the ".img" file with the 1'st sector of the GoldCard => Identical.
So.... I'm getting crazy figuring out what is wrong with it.
If someone got an idea, it would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks !
EDIT: Tried with an 8Gb SanDisk Class 4, worked like a charm !
I'm fed up.

Tried using the RUU.exe from my PC

I must say, u must have messed up goldcard, otherwise it should work, just try to follow this
1. take spare sd
2. format with fat32 in pc
3. put it in device & boot up
4. download goldcard helper app from market
5. run the app, it will give you two numbers use the top mumber labelled mmc2, dont bother to reverse mumber as it gives you reversed number as well
6. put cid number in this website http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard & request for gold card
7. they will send you goldcard save it on pc
8. attach phone to pc select as disk drive
9 open goldcard tool as in here http://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/
10. select htc mmc as your card in pc, select goldcard & click patch mmc,
11. thats it you have gold card, now install ruu & important thing when u run RUU is that select charge only & make sure Debugging mode is ticked.
hope this clears up!!
Still no luck.
Followed it step by step :/
I get ERROR 130 / Model ID ERROR

[Q] HTC brick, I have bootloader

Hello. I have a Tmobile G1, though its unlocked and I use it in other country.
I got it unrooted, installed cyanogen 6 then got bored of the speed and tried to go with lazlo. Dunno what I did but I got a total brick. no response. I took it to a technical service and they managed to get it to turn on, but now I cant do anything else.
This is what I get so far
Turning it on ->shows T mobile, then blank
Power+Home ->blank
Power+Camera ->Red green blue white screen
It says
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT- 0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO - 2.22.19.26I
Sep 2 2008
Serial IO
I was told to try to install the RC29 DREAIMG.nbh trough a FAT32 formatted card
and I get
Checking...
00028002
not allow
I don't know what else to try, can anyone lend a hand?
EDIT
also, I have a nandroid backup, but no way of restoring it, maybe that helps?
i faced the same problem last month...
1st, wipe ur sd card, rename it to sdcard and format it....
then download a good version of the dreaimg.nbh file...
http://www.4shared.com/file/etbtDlz2/DREAIMGnbh.html
it is a 46 mb file, u have to extract it on ur pc, then copy the file and keep it on ur phone's sd card...not in any folder, mind you.
then turn on ur phone via camera+power...
phone will get the file, and will flash the .nbh file.
also, make it sure that u have enough power in ur battery...
takes about 15 mins only.
i went to my stock android(1.0) as a result, then rooted again and now am on 2.3.2...
hope this helps
let me explain step by step....
sdcard-fat 32 format....yes....
then download the dreaimg.nbh file from the link, extract the zip on ur pc, then copy the extracted dreaimg.nbh(almost 85-90mb file) to the root of ur sdcard, dont rename, nothing at all...
after that, put ur sdcard in the phone, turn the phone on via camera+power, into the hboot screen, phone will find the dreaimg.nbh file and then it'll ask u to start update....press the action button, and u r good to go...takes about 10 mins to finish the process... and if u r still rooted, flash any rom as per ur requirements.
-I did a low level format on my card (2gb kingston)
-format in fat32
-download the file, copy in root
-started with cam+power
Same issue, got the 00028002 error.
maybe I need to format the thing in some other way?
Thanks!
u zipped the file and then kept the .nbh file in ur sd card's root? also u renamed ur "sdcard"???
try once more, in ur sdcard keep the zip file and the .nbh image also. then try. hope it works out this once.
good luck!!!
after downloading the file, u extracted the zip?
after extraction, copy whatever is extracted into your sdcard.
luck!!!!
yes, extracted the DREAIMG.nbh to the root. Nothing else in the sdcard.
SDcard is formatted and named "sdcard"
Still 00028002 error.
www.4shared.com/file/9izdCbvo/DREAIMG.html
Yup, thats the one I used
your phone is us or uk model???
u tried both the links i gave???
nothing yet?
well, there has to be a plan B somewhere
ok i don't have the answer for you but i remember trying to help someone about a month or 2 ago with the same issue and he got it fixed some how... think some to do with orange.nbh file or something.. i forget but try to search the Q&A section of G1 forum for the same issue... you'll find it eventually hope this helps..
Its marked TMOBILE, so Im gonna guess its US model.
Im wondering if its the sd card, if its getting rejected for some reason.
I read about the goldcard, but since its bricked I cant get the CID.
maybe from my nandroid backup?
IDRIFTA: yeah, I tried that one as well Im not sure where to keep going, now.
my phone too says t-mobile but it's germany i guess u should try hanging ur sdcard and repeat the process all over, starting with formatting!!!
and heck out for other dreaimg.nbh's as well...
will try searching tomorrow..
Most likely your phone is from Singapore ... There should be a thread here in this form (I think it started around May 2009) about rooting such a phone. Not sure if it will help you, but you can probably find some links which might help you.
Sent from my Gingerbread on Dream using XDA App
Will look for the corresponding dreaimg.nbh for singapore then, thanks!
edit:
tried rc29 and rc7, to the same error. Is there any other version I should be trying?
Thanks
edit2:
I have seen many posts with the same error mentioning the goldcard, is it possible to make one with my nandroid backup?
Bumping, just in case someone that can help me sees the thread. I know its not good forum manners, but I could really use some help.

Bootloop problem after freezing Homescreen Selector

Hi
First post here, I'm new to Android and rooting but I know my way around computer systems in general so hoping you guys can help me, haven't seen a thread about this exact problem so far.
I've semi-bricked (bootlooped) my Samsung Galaxy Ace running Gingerbread, having rooted it last month using the upd_1 package and enjoying a bloatware-free phone, happily installing apps onto my second partition on my SD card. I've not changed my ROM, just the stock is good enough for me for now. However I was getting continually prompted by Homescreen Selector nags at powering up for some reason and I thought I could disable it by applying Freeze using LInk2SD, but since doing that I continually get the Samsung logo, the orange "explosion" (I'm with Orange) then a vibration and the whole cycle repeats. My guess is the operating system can't find the selector.apk app since I froze it.
I thought the solution would be simple - use adb shell to rename back from selector.fro to selector.apk. However I'm unable to find any such file in my system/app folder. There are a load of other apk and odex files but not that one. When I type su I get "permission denied", though I definitely rooted my phone but I don't think I have my bootloader unlocked.
I don't have CWM installed or any backups unfortunately (yes, I know...), so even if I took one now prior to a factory reset, surely the same problem would come back if I were to restore from any backup I were to take now. I can get into Recovery and Download screens ok but don't want to restore the whole ROM unless I have to, since I know it's only one APK that is at fault.
So, please can anyone tell me how to locate the selector.fro file to turn it back to selector.apk? Or can't I do that without unlocking the bootloader first, or is there another solution?
Many thanks in advance,
Graham
Wouldnt it be possible to make a zip of the selector.apk and flash it? Rename the zip-file to "update" (since you're unable to browse to your specific file).

Hi, thanks for the response
Do you mean copy a zip of selector.apk to the SD card and run it from there, same as I did when I rooted? Where can I obtain a copy of that apk from? I can't find it on my computer or via Google...

You can extract it from the ROM's zip file, just locate it as you would on your phone.
But I don't have a ROM zip file. I'm not using a custom ROM, just stock. I may go down the custom ROM route one day, but for now I just want my phone to work again in the quickest way possible.
All I need is a copy of the original stock home selector APK. Can anyone help here please?
Found the file!
Never mind, got the apk from another thread. Flashing tonight...
