Pm'ed you. Can't figure out how to post it but I can email it to you.
Pm'ed you back .. Thanks a lot
Got your email thanks dude.
But it didn't work .. it says Application not installed.
I don't think it's from the file that you've sent but it may be the way that I have to install it.. Shall I install it normally like what I do with other apps or should I close or consider doing something before that??
Any Ideas
not really, sorry it didnt work. i have 3.1 wifi only version.
i just copied it out of system/app with root explorer.
i would think it would install like any other app. but obviously it doesn't.
maybe check and make sure there isnt a contacts.apk already in system/app?

[Q] Help me - Replace Calendar apk

I installed the new CM7 rom + Gapps.
Everything worked fine but the CM's calculator & calendar are far from what i was used on my stock 2.3.5 GB rom.
I've asked this same question on CM forum but no one replied so i'll try to ask here.
How can i replace my calculator with my old one?
I've successfully extracted the calculator apk from my old rom and have it on my sdcard ready to be installed.
But for some reason i cant get it to install and i even tried to put it on system/apps dir replacing the old one without success.
i know this is possible because i saw someone porting the same calculator to a nexus phone
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522009)
with the apk from that post i could run and install the calculator but the resolution would not fit my screen
any help?
thank you very much, mornaistar

the calendar.apk that you got from old rom, put it in /system/app, now change its permissions using root explorer as follows
Read permission to all i.e. owner, group and others
Write permission to owner
rest unchecked..
after this reboot your phone.. this should work.. if it doesn't that means the apk is not compatible with CM7 firmware and you can search for some other calendar app that suits your needs
i've tested this and it wont work.
can someone port the apps for CM firmware? i know it's possible since xda users made it for other phones
i was able to run one of those ported apps in my galaxy s but the resolution was all wrong

[solved] Apktool not working?

This Problem solved by downloading apkmanager.
Hi guys.
I just have to make a small change in the Settings App.
I have done that before on official cm7 and even on stock.
Problem is that if i just decompile the apk using apktool, then even compile it with no change at all. Then Sign It, and copy it to system /app with permissions..It just doesn't show up in the app drawer even after a reboot..
This is surely a problem with apktool, coz i'm not even changing anything, just decompiling and compiling.
The same for cm7 themes. i try to compile cm7 themes but they just don't work when i copy them to system /app.
I copied it to sd card and tried to install from sd card. And it works, but not when it's included in system /app.

Nope not working...
Trying to make Settings.apk ICS Style for unofficial cm7. Making it work on the official cm7 was a left hand game. But I don't know what's the issue wid this one.
I tried apk manager, and it's getting errors at decompiling it.
Lemme see what else i can dig up. :/
Why is this flagged as urgent?
On: Which version of apktool do you use? The newer versions may not be compatible!

Try apk multi-tools
http://apkmultitool.com/node/14
it works without problems for me
your problem is that you're signing the apk. Stock apps, like Settings and SystemUI, cannot be signed. You need to keep the original apk (the one you've decompiled) and change files inside it.
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664292

I tried.
Then just used apk manager.
Got errors on decompiling copied the apktool 1.4.3 files to the "other" folder.
Decompiled succesfully
followed instructions.
And it worked.
It's not urgent. I'm changing the title.

[REQ] Job Manager.apk of 4.0.4 RLG Please :'(

Hi, i messed up (i guess) a mod that installed the S3 task manager following a tutorial from an Spanish forum (btw i'm latin, so i did read well the steps). One of the steps was to delete the original task manager from the ROM, so i did it. In the end, i have the s3 widget, but when I tap it, the manager gets FC'd. Also, the manager isnt in the app drawer.
So please someone with the 4.0.4 RLG Rom with Root explorer, etc. could make a copy of the apk from system/app and pass me in PM or GDrive, Dropbox, etc.
Thanks in advance, cheers!
UPDATE: After 4 reboots, It works both the S3 task manager and the widget, but no luck appearing in the app drawer, which i didnt use it anyway xD but just in case case i need the stock apk.

Do you have the ROM file ? If you have you can do it yourself. Just Extract it and go to app and copy any apk which you require and push it to your phone under System>app

Sadly you can't. This is because all CM based roms runs on CM framework just like Samsung's stock rom runs on TouchWiz framework. There is an app in Google Play called CM App Installer, though I haven't tried myself, but it requires Android 3.0 and up. So in your case you can't run it in stock rom Gingerbrerad 2.3.6.
[Root] CM App Installer
Hope I Helped
