cm7 tv streaming app ? - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

hello all ,
once spb tv application doesnt work properly with the cm7 roms , is there any another app that streams tv channels and can b used with cm7 roms ?
thanks in advance

Nop, sorry
First of all, no thier isn't any other app that streams tv channels like spb, second, i don't think spb is gonna wear out because it's a successful and popular app used by all and to assure you that its gonna stay is that on the iphone and ipad, they are fixing its bugs and eye-candy so that it gets even more popular on the apple devices

Dude you obviously can't read.. Since it doesn't work with CM7 based roms, he's asking if there's another app that does the same thing. Don't get butt hurt just because you don't understand what he's saying.
Yes, there are other streaming apps, no they don't worth with CM7 based roms either

have you tried Veetle (Vee) ?? free from market

Hava player for android

I ahve a hava platinum HD it will "sling" video to like 1 internet connection and 2 locals (I think, dont hold me to these numbers) I know it takes more connections than the comperably priced slingbox, I got mine used on fleabay for like 50$ it would be nice to controll my 500+ channel 250 hours SA2 tivo hak'd to the ma'x, and Id love to serve it up to my g1 in a long line or anywhere else I get bored, which is often.
one exists for the maemo hildon nokia N800 so maybe it wouldnt be a difficult port, it would be very cool and these boxes unlike the sling are very cheap, if HD is just 50$ imagine the deals you could find on a standard def unit, Id also like to see an xbox port of the same player, but thats a whole other discussion board, as it is it streams to PC, smartphone by MS, and windows media and xbox360(i think) so the standard is there to be sniffed if that helps any...
bhang
im in the same boat. i got a hava player a few months back, streamed it great to my old dash. then i got the g1. monsoon said they wont even start to develop a player until they watch the android market for a while to gauge interest..
i hope sling is getting their app out soon.... the petition is only growing
cool Im not the only one
I looked at prices and specs of slings and havas and the hava seemed to be the hands down winner...
if hava wont do it maybe somebody will R.E. it and we will get a hava player for anything we want, thats the reason HAVA needs to do it before the demand gets big, or somebody will want to stream the hava to sumthin they have thats not supported and do it themselves...
that almost sounded like a threat, but it wasn't....
bhang
edit:
an xbox version would be nice too....
dont need it. just install orb onto your pc where you normally watch your hava, and install opera browser on your android device. Set the default stream to 3gp and you can download a stream file that is about 700mb. Works great on my droid, but unfortunately the default media player does not use the full screen. The audio and vid is still great quality and the orb interface (mycast.orb.com) has a great interface for choosing the station you want to stream. I prefer it to the virtual controller of hava actually.

Can you explain how orb changes the channel of the ricochet that's connected to the hava? Thanks

Has sold me on android for my next phone.
Now if WM7 gets Zune support...
I've had a Hava for around 2 years now, they say early next year, look for the app a year after that... They rarely hit target dates.
Unofficial Hava Player for Android: It's called Testtube

It's still a little rough around the edges, but it's great someone took it upon themselves to do this.

Thank you for this!!!! Just got my At&t Nexus and was thinking about my Hava player... I bought the app on my Iphone and loved it. This is going to be great... will install and give it a shot tonight. Assuming this works over 3G which will be a great advantage to the iphone player
TestTube Android HAVA Player
Search for TestTube on Market. I have a G1 and TestTube works great as a HAVA player on my phone. Setup was a little tricky. I had to port forward port 1778 on my router to my HAVA device. Other tricky piece of the setup was making sure I had the correct HAVA remote control code.
can not find the software anyplace....
Has anyone seen were it went to
I've been using testube for a while, using it for my titanium hd. I just heard that Monsoon Multimidea released the Vulkano app across many platforms and it's backwards compatible with the hava devices as well (not just the new vulkano devices). Its a free app, and though I havent used it yet, its seems just like what we've wanted.
Fellow iphone users have mentioned to me that the Vulkano app does infact work with the old hava devices.

That is true, there are actually 2 TV apps in the market. SPB TV and Television. Both of them are HORRIBLE. I mean seriously, who in the US is interested in Al Jazeerah TV? or the christian programming channel? C'mon. Those apps have the worst channels I've seen. with like 10 24 hour news channels in all sorts of languages. I guess if you have nothing better to do it is worth turning on, but not paying for it.
This is just an opinion from a new yorkers POV

EyeTV is an USB TV Tuner for Mac and‚ (possibly PC) that allows you to watch TV on your computer. The iphone app appears to stream data from your computer to your iphone rather than streaming directly from an internet feed. So although this is very useful, it is probably slightly different to what you're looking for.
In the UK we have a decent BBC TV app which will stream over wifi and 3G (dependent on your provider).
Hmmmmm anyone tried streaming over the web from Hulu or fancast...... both are free.
Edit
ooops both need flash to work. I guess we will have to wait for the long awaited plugin promised by Adobe

How does it work, if you don't mind me asking. Thanks
You install the Orb server software on your home PC, as well as a TV tuner card. The orb server software is able to stream the tv signal from the tuner card over the internet via .3gp to your phone. Check out their website and search for "android orb" in google. There's tons of threads about it.

Heard back from Sling today on an Android app and they basically said no way it's happening because Android is Linux based and not windows based. Here is the email I got:
As we understand, you want to know if the Slingbox will support the Android Operating System and Mobile device any time soon. We will be more than willing to assist you.
Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux Operating System, developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance. It allows developers to write managed code in a Java-like language that utilizes Google-developed Java libraries, but does not support programs developed in native code.
Most of the supported cell phones run on Windows OS. Since Android runs on Linux OS, it is not compatible with the SlingPlayer. Therefore, Slingbox will not support it.
If you require further assistance, feel free to visit http://support.slingmedia.com or contact us at 1-877-GO-SLING (877-467-5464) Monday through Sunday 7am-7pm Pacific Time.
For future reference your case number is XXXXXX.

Netflix

Ok so i know im a noob moron so maybe you guys can tell me. Do you think the nook color rooted when we get flash will be able to play netflix movies or is the hardware just to low end?
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App
Netflix does not use flash. Netflix uses Silverlight.
There is not a Netflix app out for android either.
Swyped from my Mynion using the Xda App.
Ahh i see. So there ya have it. Im a moron lol. Ok so the question is how can i make it play . Some brilliant young guy can surely make it happen if the hardware can handle it.
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App
Unless an official app is released, it just won't happen.
Orb Live
I believe Orb is working on a port of their new app for Android, I use it for Netflix and Hulu content on my iPhone that I wouldn't normally be able to watch (Hulu content that hasn't been licensed for mobile, mostly). It's possible that after they get the app going for Android that you'll be able to watch Netflix content via it's interface.
The only downside is that I believe you have to have access to your PC that has the orb caster software installed (it does the actual rendering and casting of the video to your mobile device). As it sits right now, I can't watch Hulu content without being in wireless range of my computer.
Wait, I have orb to watch TV with on my nook and iPhone, how do you set it up for Netflix?
until they square away DRM for Netflix and Android - don't expect it - it migh be awhile although i read somewhere that Netflix is working on an Android app
One of the new phones at CES had a netflix app... so, as they say in Spaceballs "When will then be now???? Soooooooooon"
Sent from my NookColour using XDA App
Playon.tv also handles Netflix, but their android client isnt out yet
There is a handset coming with Netflix preloaded, I don't know what is in the app though, I would assume playback is possible in the future. Also, there are other options such as Videos5 and a Hulu hack for when Froyo/2.3 rolls out.
you need to have the orb controller, which I believe is only available on iPhone, though I haven't checked the market lately to find out if it's available for Android yet.
The Netflix app for Android is out there. Its on the LG Revolution. Someone needs to get a copy of it.
Just need to confirm if that is a streaming app or just a scheduling app

A work around
The way you can work around this is easy to do, but will run you some $$$.
First, get a Slingbox.
Second, you need a TiVo XL or something the slingbox can control. The slingbox needs to control a device using netflix. The TiVo XL has netflix built into it.
Third, get the Slingbox app for your android phone. I was watching tons of movies @ the gym.
slingbox you say...hahaha. off to shop.
save money and get it from ebay. i've seen the slingbox hd for $229 there. @bestbuy, $299 + tax. all slingbox does is redirect what your looking and shoots it over the internet (ie... your phone being on the net and for the love of god, if you have ATT with data caps, it will run you). i used my slingbox app yesterday and was watching king of the hill. i'm in the military (in GA for school) and my TiVo is in KS. Technically when i deploy, i can use my nook off a wireless internet connection in iraq and watch tv as is live and with netflix.

I am pretty sure it is streaming, I know this came out a few months ago for Verizon I believe, not positive though. I just know that I had a Netflix scheduling app for my g1 and was jealous when a streaming app was released. This all of course is based on memory so I could be very wrong.

Netflix apk

I found the Netflix apk that leaked today. I am in no way a dev, just a very thankful direction follower. The app functions beautifully, (recently watched, instant que, browse) the only thing not working is the most important streaming. It attempts then pulls error (1005) can not connect to server. Hopefully there is a work around. http://lts.cr/TY5, thanks to phandroid for the link.

i have been waiting for a dam netflix app forever.....too bad the only thing i need it to do it doesnt do...ha
anyway just wanted to say PLEASE someone get this to work....
netflix was the ONLY thing i liked more about wp7....wp7 sucks otherwise

Completely agree.

It's in the .so library file or one of the libraries not included in the dump. Without them or the ability to decompile the one in the apk, we're out of luck.
so is there any hope....its funny that its the best thing about wp7 tho haha...
Well, if this apk can't be made functional, we will just have to wait for an official android app.

But the PlayOn app requires you to pay for their services on top of having a Netflix acct. So not worth it in my opinion. Though I did download and try it for the trial period. Was very cool. But I stand by my feelings on the matter. =p

The PlayOn app, IMHO, is a much better app for now and to replace the Netflix app when and if it works for all android phones. I am using PlayOn, I can watch Netflix, HULU, all sorts of other stuff and stream whatever is on my PC at home. This is great when I record a show on my PC, it is available for me to watch. I bought the lifetime membership for $80. I think that is cheap when compared to the access and entertainment I get in return. Not to mention that your carrier will not be happy with the amount of data used to watch movies. I have an "unlimited" plan and my data rate has been limited due to the carrier feeling I use too much. So after a few movies the app is worthless as it will not stream well and always buffer if your carrier is unhappy with your usage. This happened to me on WP7 and with playon on android. Why any company would put the time and effort into developing something that can't be used is beyond me. Wifi is jot an issue however, if I am able to connect to wifi I am usually somewhere I would have my laptop. Then why would I watch a Netflix movie on my phone?
found a solution...not really
my solution is to dual boot android and wp7....ha....im only using wp7 for the netflix app and it only took like a half hr to set everything up....and it was easy to do with the videos and such......yay netflix on my hd2 and it works way faster than streaming online websites.....you could tell i really wanted netflix to work.....and now i have dual boot also....so win win i guess.....i love this phone
Downloading now

Channel surfing doesn't work anymore last time I checked or did you find a new site?
The reason why cable companies put all attention on ipad is because its where the money is. Sad but true.
Honeycomb its just one month old give it time.
When or even if Honeycomb tablets blow up out of no where and surpass the iPad in tablet marketshare (or whatever) then attention will be given to Android tablets. Until then, "Deal with it." Or.. y'know, get an iPad.
I work for comast, we will have a streaming app soon for iPad also but we are working on a honeycomb version also. Hope that helps
fwiw, dish network's streaming sling app for phones works perfectly in honeycomb.
Cablevision iO app is coming to android in the Summer apparently (along with remote control features built into the app).. I am anxiously waiting on this app too..
