I cant seem to find any info on the forums could someone help me out.
The Hero, hardware-wise, does not support OpenGL ES 2.0. It's not how the ROMs are assembled, but what the hardware supports. I used Google to find this:

I think all of the gingerbread roms do: Jaybob's, CM7, Aosp/CM7, Deck, Evervolv, WildHeroc, iHero, OMGB, OMFGB (and anything else that I might have missed).

Has it been done? I couldn't tell if this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532822 is compatible with the cyanogen roms or this only applies for hero roms that have been worked with thus far. Otherwise, would love to see this done if possible.
Thanks for the input.

Not gonna happen, it relies on Htc's closed-source frameworks- thus only Sense based roms can use it (and older ones at that)
p.s. Post in the correct section next time
RE:
Think it will ever be open sourced or highly doubtful?
I mean, I without a doubt love kingklick's 0.6's rom, but it has some bugs that needs tweaking out such as everyone's problem it seems... the camera and bluetooth.
p.s. - please push this thread to Dream Q&A (sorry, my mistake).

A mod will move it when they see it.
HTC wouldnt open source it unless they want it to be copied by other people which would be bad for business. The you would have hero widgets running on the liquid or droid and you get my point.
Hi,
great site........
I'm trying to get my 2.1 software upgraded HTC hero back to 2.0. My phone worked great with my in car blue tooth system before the stoopid 2.1 update and I just need it working again.
please help...
Thanks guys........

There is no 2.0. It's either the original 1.5 or the current 2.1. You can root your device and install a custom ROM of whatever you can find here if you choose. There is a really nice version of 2.2 in the Dev section if you want to go that way. If you do some searching you'll find all the info you need to accomplish this.

hummm? it must have had the 1.5 then prior..........
I wonder if the 2.2 would fix my issue.....
let me see if i can find the threads your talking about...
Thank you,

2.2 has a rc1 and nightly builds. May or may not work with your Bluetooth better, it does not have sense. I prefer that, its quick and zippy.
Otherwise I'd suggest trying the custom 2.1 roms and if they don't work and you want to go back to 1.5 I highly suggest digging up an old custom 1.5 rom rather than go stock.
You might even get some help figuring out how to get the drivers from 1.5 into a custom 2.1 or maybe 2.2 if you're patient.

I don't know if another 2.1 would help you, don't they all use the same bluetooth stack?
Do 2.2 ROMs use the same bluetooth stack?

Not positive but worth a try. If 1.5 stack worked I thought maybe it could be merged or swapped into a 2.1 if he wanted to do the work. I could be wrong

2.1 bluetooth drivers were pretty broken. I highly recommend trying 2.2, as it is much improved

Loading the xml files to Tasker
I am a new just a few weeks into Tasker and I see all of these great xml files people have created, however, I do not know how to execute them once I have loaded them into my tasker directory in my phone. I have created a few simple things and I am reading some articles called Pocketables and other things about Tasker. But I have seen all this xml files that are already built and "ready to go" but I can not load and execute them in Tasker and can not find any material where it defines "how to."
I have tried various ways unsuccessfully and if some gentle soul would like to give me a hand I would appreciate it. It would appear you would create a Task and select a category, then file, but this is where I am really hung up at this point. I have tried various different ways and so far nothing works. Gary
I'm currently running Cyanogen but I was wondering if there was a good place to see what ROMs are available and what they offer. I've found a lot of info in these forms but it's kind of hard to figure out all the details. This site has a decent list but no details as to what components each ROM has.
Just looking at maybe switching my ROM to something more slimmed down yet still capable.
well, i cant really help you on finding a main source for roms, but i can suggest a rom for you. you might try aospROM 2.2.1. i havent had a chance to try it yet, but from what i understand, CM6 is basically a ROM with lots of cool and improving mods, whereas aospROM is straight, 100% android compiled from source for the Hero. you can find the gapps elsewhere just like you did for CM6. and that basically all i can really suggest to you. so, its definitely slimmed down and more than capable from what ive heard.
CyanogenMod ROMS are the best i have tried, they are one of the few ROMS that actually work. try CM6

CM6 is Cyanogen, best rom IMHO, especially with an Impaled theme along with it
FWIW, CyanogenMOD IS AOSP, with modifications. The framework of CyanogenMOD is slightly different than AOSP, to support the new modifications to it. The performance of CyanogenMOD is almost exactly the same as AOSP, but has the potential to be better if certain settings are enabled. If you want the most customizable and fastest ROM, CyanogenMOD would be your best bet.
Hi all develoers here. Salute to you all for whatever you did for our milestone.
Just a noob question. Is by any chance, by stripping down, or by any magic, is there a possibility to port Android 3.0 for Milestone? Is it possible?
http://developer.android.com already released information and sdk about 3.0. Any expert comments about hardware requirement or any hardware comparisaon details available yet?
I have seen many chinese android tablets and devices with same or lower configuration than milestone running with higher versions like 2.3.3 and some even claiming to have 3.0. (There are already many 3.0 tablets on ebay with lower configuration than Milestone. http://cgi.ebay.in/BRAND-NEW-8GB-7-...31243148?pt=IN_PC_Laptops&hash=item4cf532848c )
Any possible luck? Any experts there?
The old HTC G1 even can run 3.0 (just for fun, nothing more) so i think MS can run 3.0 (but...just for fun, nothing more...^_^).
As sayd, maybe MM can run 3.0 with some hack/tweak/mods, but nothing farther...
Google says that 3.0 is for tablets intended, 2.3/2.4 and so on for mobile
MM can't run Honeycomb, cause we have locked bootloader.
I can't imagine Honeycomb with Froyo kernel

Then why not for fun? When other low-configured devices can run 3.0 seriously, then why not on Milestone, which actually have good confi?

Do you still believe that developers should stick to what google or anyone else said? Most of the new tablets runnung 3.0 have similar configurations and even resolution of milestone.

Do not agree. Milestone is already rooted and thousands of experimets with GB is already done. Seems you dont visit milestone rom developement section. Its always better to get some information before commenting with dead ends.
Anyways thanks all for your inputs.
Are they still trying to Bruteforce open the bootloader? Or did they give up?
It's still open at www.androinc.net, but most of us don't trust the project since the source was never released and it just seems shady.
almost a month over, but no useful information from motorola nor any developers. Seems motorola bootloader will never be cracked in future.

You are wrong. All the latest rom available for MM is over froyo kernel and no GB as you stated. Yes we now run GB on our MM but the Kernel still Froyo. I think YOU should start read the DEV section a bit more instead of saying this things.
Peace

Google has clearly stated that Android 3.0 is only meant for tablet use.
I am looking for old ROMS for the nexus one. Ideally based on Android 2.0 or 2.1. Most of the links I am finding are either for newer versions then that, or the links are broken.
Anyone have links to old Android 2.0/2.1 ROMS that are still up for DL?
Thanks!
Out of curiosity: Why would you want that?
Want to review some stuff about how much Android has changed between the versions, and test some functionality between them. Especially in the functionality of the web browser.
