I am having this issue with facebook using Motorola's Social Networking. It appears there is an error with Facebook/Social Network Contacts. There are three things that lead me to this:
1.) Adding a facebook account under "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Add Account" > "Facebook" > (Enter Username/Password), the option to use facebook as the primary source for contact pictures is no longer asked.
2.) After adding a facebook account, going into the "Social Networking" app, I can see updates, but no contact pictures are being shown. For example, someone posted a status update, and where it would typically shown their default picture next to their post - instead it shows a gray shadow figure.
3.) Upon adding a facebook account and allowing it to sync itself, going into my contacts, none of my facebook contacts are shown. AND, if I go into my Contacts, press the menu button, choose "Display Options", "Facebook" is listed under Choose contacts to display. When I tap on "Facebook", "All Contacts" is checked.
I've tried battery pulls, restarts, factory resetting, and so on. No root, completely stock.
When you go to settings/accounts, is facebook listed?
Droid 1 Rooted (ChevyNo1 0.9MV Kernel, LGB2.6)
Droid 3 Rooted (Stock Kernel, Custom lite De-bloat)
I've kind of steered clear of fb sync, which sucks because it worked so good on my HTC. On this phone it gave me a whole bunch of doubled contacts vs. syncing with the ones i already had. I've also heard of some people having problems not being able to edit the contacts after syncing.

When i go to write a new message and click contacts I have multiple duplicate entries. When i go to contacts I only have phone selected/not gmail, facebook etc... and that works fine its just when i go to write a new text message and click contacts
You could deselect every display option in the contacts app, but all of your contacts will still appear in the messaging app. You should try to fix the duplicates by linking them together. Like this:
1. Open the contacts app and select someone who appears twice. (You may have to change display options since you only have phone selected)
2. Under "Linked Contacts" in their profile it should say "1 linked contact"-touch that.
3. Choose "Add link Contact" and find their duplicate entry.
4. That should work. You'll just have to clean things up a little bit.
That doesn't work fyi. You can link til you're blue, but integrated fb, sim, fb app, and google contacts show separately in the messaging app. I've never gotten around this.

A temporary solution will be presented at the end of this post.
PDA: I9000 XXJPO
PHONE: I9000 XXJPP
CSC: I9000 OXAJPO
I have two seemingly identical Factory unlocked UK-bought SIM-free models, both on official Froyo through Kies, flashed with Speedmod 341 Kernel with No-RTF Advanced lagfix applied through Kernel's in-build Sztupy's Universal Fix. Both rooted through ChainFire's tool.
If Automatic Syncing is NOT activated (saves battery and helps control traffic), then after updating the Calendar events on Samsung these updates DO NOT appear on web Google Calendar. If Automatic Syncing is ON - ALL IS FINE ON BOTH PHONES.
This needs further clarification, as two phones behave differently.
Problem No. 1: When Calendar is open and events edited WHEN BOTTOM LEFT SENSOR BUTTON PRESSED:
A. First phone gets 6 choices to choose from (Search, Create, Go to, Today, Delete, Settings).
B. Second phone gets 7 choices (Search, Create, Go to, Today, Delete, and MORE, which when pressed OPENS Choices: Settings and REFRESH).
FIRST REQUEST: Help on how to get REFRESH button among the choices on the First phone would be greatly appreciated.
Problem No. 2: When REFRESH button is pressed, nothing happens (it behaves as if something does happen, but it does not), i.e. the CALENDAR DOES NOT SYNC. Same thing happens with Calendar Widget - when Sync symbol is pressed it does not actually Sync. When similar refresh button is pressed for E-mails, they DO sync. If you follow the path of Settings -> Accounts and sync -> Choose your account from Manage Accounts -> Sync Calendar, the CALENDAR DOES SYNC.
SECOND REQUEST: Help on how to force Sync from the Calendar REFRESH button in the same manner as the "Sync Calendar" from the path above does.
On each of the phones I have more than one GMail account Synced. The one that has "Refresh" opiton has the GMail account listed at the top of the list, the one that does not - lists the Gmail account with the calendar as second in the list (not sure if that makes a difference for the , have not tested it). Also, the calendars from the two accounts on different phones are Shared (but that works ok after a bit of finetuning and tweaking).
Ideas: Clearly, the REFRESH button is not performing the same as "Sync Calendar", so the first idea was to make it do just that. However, I am not clever enough to do that (as well as not clever enough to figure out how to make the REFRESH button appear on the other phone). My first idea was to create some kind of a macro and assign it to the button. I found that "Tasker" may be able to create a macro-type sequence, however, since it is a paid app, it does not even appear on my Market choices. And even if it did, I would not have a clue as to how to assign it to that specific particular REFRESH button. Or, for that matter, how to get the REFESH button appear on the 1st phone. (See request 1).
WORKAROUND:
The only solution I have found so far is beta free app on Market called Synker. It appears as a Widget on Home Screen and allows to force sync all apps that need syncing. And it automatically picks up some of the common android apps and allows you to configure what you want syncing (e.g. contacts, e-mail, calendar etc.). That has good and not so good side effect due to one and the same reason: it syncs everything thet you've pre-set in a configuration. So, when you are checking your e-mails and updating calendar, you press Synker button before you start (to get them all updated to your phone), respond to e-mails, edit appointments etc, and press Synker button after, to get those e-mails sent from your phone and get the Calendar updated on the web. That is excellent. However, if you just looked at your Calendar to make a couple of changes, you do not want Synker to go through all of your 5 e-mail accounts, Facebook and Calendar to do the job.
Yes, it is possible to configure Synker to just update Calendar entries (which, really, should be done through Calendar's native Refresh button), but then you are deprived of the excellent functionality of this app to update all at once. And, for some reason, it is not possible to put two same Widgets with different settings, as practice shows. So, for now, for me it's the less efficient syncing of everything through Synker on any update, but, hopefully, with a little help from you, the Calendar's REFRESH button can be 1. forced to appear and 2. be fixed!
As the developer of Synker, I just wanted to note… Synker should allow for multiple widgets with different accounts/setting. I double checked this on an EVO and a Galaxy Tab after reading your post… If this isn’t working for you send me an email so we can look into it…
Thank you for the reply (and for the app!) : just re-checked, it DOES work! It is a good workaround and a great app in its own merit, which I would use for general syncing even if the problem described was fixed.
I've flashed my phone half a dozen times and it has really messed up my contacts. Contacts were randomly linked together that were suppose to. Good thing I can restore back to previous contacts from the website. However, I still have some contacts were are no longer there, it seems like they moved to the "Not assigned" group on my phone. I have 800 of those.
Is there anyway to move those contacts back and merge them with my Google contact group?
Just change Display Options
I would suggest going to the "Contacts" page in your Phonebook app, clicking "More", then clicking "Display Options." In my case, those "Not Assigned" contacts were actually just sync'ed with my phone as "All other contacts." This display option is not selected by default -- hence why these "Not assigned" contacts are not showing up in the phonebook. HTH!
So, not sure what I did, but my Facebook account has disappeared from my list of accounts on my phone. When I go to add a new account, the Motorola Facebook icon is already checked. If I select it, it says I can only have one Facebook account. So, it both does and doesn't think i have a Facebook account. The icon in the list from the Facebook app does nothing, which i think is normal behavior. I do not get profile pics from Facebook in my contacts, so it is not syncing.
Truth be told, this is only an annoyance. I do not want to reset to factory (I have way too many apps to reinstall, which would be more annoying than this problem). But, if anyone can think of how I could manually convince the system to let me re-add the account, any suggestions would be appreciated.

hi, I have exactly the same problem, so I will aslo grateful for help in this matter
I had the same problem, and I did a trick with SQlite Editor
Install it then,
In SQLite Editor you select: Accounts Storage -> serviceaccounts.db -> accounts -> then you delete the line which have "Facebook" in the column "account_pretty_name"
After a reboot I was able to re-enter a Facebook account in the blur app.
And now it works perfectly

This is an older thread, but I'm having the same problem on my new RAZR MAXX (Verizon, unrooted, stock 2.3.6). I have 2 facebook icons under "My Accounts", one that allows me to put my log in info in and nothing else, the second that does nothing when I click it. I am not able to get my calendar or my contacts to sync with facebook and I'm at a loss.
What I've tried so far:
Rebooting
Deleting the FB account info and re-entering it within the My Accounts settings.
Uninstalling FB app (the unresponsive FB icon goes away in My Accounts), reinstalling and rebooting.
When that didn't work I ended up calling the new Google help and the person I talked too ran me through the steps I had already taken and suggested I contact FB as it appears that the issue is with the app. I am pulling the app straight from Google Play, but it would make sense as that is the culprit since it's not syncing with Calender or Contacts.
I have many events in my calendar that i can see with Calendar or Google Calendar.
But, i can not see the them on Lockscreen or Blinkfeed.
for Loscreen i selected "productivity type", with Call, e-mail, events
and i will always appears empty
in Blinkfeed i selected Agenda and Facebook, and it will only show Facebook + one blue square suggesting me to add content.
if i select only agenda, i only have the 1 big blue square.
any idea ?

I too have this issue, I cannot see my calendar (important), nor can I see any of my zoe's (not that they really matter).
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
For info, i'm on stock firmware with Telus (canada).
Right now all my calendar event are save in my Gmail account.
I tried saving the event in different calendar (tried theme all), and no one show in Blinkfeed.
Got it!

Spoke with HTC this is what they said...
"We appreciate you took the time to provide us with that information. To solve this situation w will remove the email account where the calendar was synced. To do so, please go Settings > accounts and sync > tap on the account > once it is open tap and hold on the bar where the name of the account is displayed and select remove. Now please set it up again and make sure the calendar will be filled. Now please go to Calendar > tap on the Three dots Menu > Accounts > + button > select account > fill the fields. Go to blinkfeed screen, Swap down slowly to reveal a menu > Tap on the three dots menu > Topics and services > slide to the left and select calendar.
Then you can check on the main screen of the blinkfeed and make sure all your events are being displayed there."
I did this, and rebooted and voila it was there.
One thing I should point out is that I had to add a 'Hotmail Account' (under accounts & sync) before it would work, simply adding my Sympatico account to 'mail' did not provide me with the same options. Also, you do not have to delete the 'mail' icon from your task bar/panel as it will start to grab your mail from the 'hotmail account'. Lastly, if there are no calendar events for 'today' you may not see the calendar event until it is the correct day. Hope this helps.
I am new to HTC so I can try to help you further if required but no promises. If I have broken any form rules please forgive me.
Cheers,
