Is there a way to flash radio files on the bionic? I was able to do this with my tbolt. I seemed to get better 4g signal on my bolt than I do with my bionic. Any thoughts?
Bionicly speaking...

On the droid incredible forum they have figured out how to load up the EPST.apk and manually load PRL's. This has enabled many to load hybrid PRL's so that roaming on Sprints EVDO network is possible. The same instructions do not seem to work on the Droid X. Has anyone figured out how to load a manual PRL file aside from *228? Such an ability would do wonders for our signal strength.
Heres the link.
I'd like to know this too. I tried ##778 like on the eris, but sadly it was a bust. I live in an area with lots of Alltel coverage and the hybrid prl of alltel towers and vzw added a good 2 bars to my signal.
Yeah same here. I'm sure a way will be found eventually.
BTW, We don't go to Ravenholm.
Odds are if it is like any other Moto device you'd need to upload it using QPST. I haven't used QPST in a while myself so I'm not sure the setup needed for use on an Android device. I only used it back in the days of hacking all the Moto dumbphones on VZW to use other software instead of there garbage OS they use to put on devices. However I do know I've seen it posted on the web that people were using QPST with the Droid when it was released.
I know that loading an Alltel PRL might not be possible on the Droid X right now, but here's a simple work around.
If you're still on an Alltel plan, as in you were grand-fathered in, you can request to be put on hybrid PRL with Alltel preference. Basically, your phone will use Alltel's system ID in your area.
I live in the Tampa area, VZW's SID is 4192, Alltel's was 42. Being on a seldom used network does get better signal in most cases.
Use qpst.
Afternoon all,
I am running a stock D3 that is rooted only and de-bloated. One of the things I have been noticing is that there seems to be a serious lag in when my D3 is running in a 1X coverage area and takes a long time to go back to 3G. In fact I usually have to put the D3 into airplane mode and then back to data, which kicks it back in 3G.
Anyone else running into this?
Thanks,
Steve
I experience this on my xt860. Although it will do it even if I haven't been in low signal areas. Seems pretty random and annoying

Have you updated to the latest Verizon Firmware? Also have you done a *228? If you are having issues with frequent 1x instead of 3g and you know you live in a good area then you may need to call Verizon tech support and see if they can do something for you as far as reconfiguring your phone. Plus set your phone to Home Only for roaming settings because that may get in the way.

Hey guys I just got my new Raider LTE from bell yesterday, and decided to flash this rom "VJRaider ROM for HTC Raider/Vivid/Holiday"
I was just wondering if anyone else on the bell or any other network using this rom and the required kernel are having issues with connection speeds? I notice too that it jumps alot between 3g and hspa alot too, most I have gotten is 1.5 mbps on a speedtest.
Tested my Atrix and I got 14 mpbs same area and coverage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I guess the first question would be did you flash through fastboot on PC or using a different method?
Which of cache/dalvik/data did you wipe prior to installing the ROM?
Did you make sure the APN info in the Raider is consistent with the Atrix?

The 3G/H flicker thing is a know bug, even stock ROM has it, the difference is that stock ROM only shows 4G icon for every type of network, no matter if you are on a 3G, HSPA, HSPA+ or 4G network, it will always show the 4G icon.
For the speed you can check your APNs, it must be a different one from the one you are using on your Atrix. Try to delete every APN and create new ones based on the Atrix ones.
Awesome thanks guys, I had flashed back to stock to try and fix it, I also changed the apn settings and it seemed to make no difference, Bell uses some hybrid network so that could possibly have had am effect. Flashing back to custom Rom now that I know its a known issue.
Cheers
You could also try changing MTU through ifconfig, but this could cause reliability issues. So far, I've only changed MTU on the 802.11 radio for this phone.
I have a rooted Droid 3 XT862 running the new .906 rom. The problem is my signal here sucks. I sit right at 1 bar so it flips back and forth between 2g and 3g constantly. I only hope to get a few more db signal, or maybe find a way to trick it into staying in 3g. Any ideas?

The .906 update includes the latest radio. Try updating your PRL by dialing *22899. It updates the list of towers in your area, and you should do this every few weeks.
Unfortunately that didnt help
You may want to call Verizon Wireless support to report that you are having signal problems (I assume that this is where you live.) If this is your home, and you have a high-speed internet connection at your home, I have read before of people who have had Verizon send them a Network Extender for free when they have signal issues like this at home. I'm not sure if they will do this at all, but perhaps they will do something like this for you? (I would very politely ask if they know if there will be any planned network upgrades in your area - they will tell you that they have no idea or way of knowing - and then you can ask if there is anything that they can do to make the signal better at your home? I wouldn't bring up the idea of the network extender yourself; perhaps they will offer the Network Extender. Perhaps not. It will not hurt to call. Be polite. )
Hey all, I just updated to the official ICS update and found that the LTE would not turn off, so I downloaded LTE On/Off to go to 3G to save battery. I got a spare battery, so I want to use 4G now, but when I try to get back on it (selecting LTE/CDMA/EvDo), I simply lose 3G. Is there any way to fix this up? I assume flashing back to stock would fix that, but I'd rather not do that unless I really needed to. Thanks!
Are you sure you are in a 4g reception area? There isn't anything about toggling between 4g and 3g that would require flashing stock or an fdr, unless you are on a custom rom that has a problem with 4g.

I'm not sure if it's officially on the list, but I used to get 4G when I toggled it on back in gingerbread. Over break I was in Northern Virginia, which definitely has 4G coverage. I guess I can try it again when I'm home, as that has 4G coverage. Plus, wouldn't turning the toggle to LTE/CDMA/EvDo give me 3G if I'm not in 4G territory?

Yes it would give you 3g when your not in the 4g area
Have you tried dialing *#*#4636#*#* and pressing send to get into the service menu. To change the settings.
Sent from my Icarus Bionic
I've been having the same problem on my Bionic running IcarusHD, which I believe is based off of .247. I haven't had any luck using the Phone Information to toggle to LTE/CDMA/EvDo. It could be that we're not getting 3G on that setting because PRL is not being used. I had this problem back in the day on ICS ROMs before any leaks came out, and the only solution I could find was to do a factory data wipe, OR just reflash the ROM entirely. If you're on stock .246 I guess that would mean an FXZ.
Whatever you do, don't try to FXZ back to 5.9.902!!
