Help I Think I Bricked It. - Motorola Droid Bionic

I've never rooted or anything before. Just rooted my bionic. I wanted to run unleashed. Bought and installed bootstrap bionic recovery, went to boot into recovery, but the phone turned off and now won't power on. Won't fastboot either. I'm freaking out any help?

Have you tried pulling the battery or maybe stick it on the charger and try.

No idea why this worked...but plugged it into an outlet instead of my pc and clockwork recovery finally came up...wtf

did your battery have enough juice in it?

Got a Droid with software issues for $50, Now need Help!

SEE MY NEXT POST! I Got it, but it boot-loops.
My Friend said his Droid forgets contacts, is loosing texts & was acting up after the 2.2 software update so Verizon replaced it. But only took the battery so he still has it. I could wipe, root, n install CM6 and most likely get it running good right. I'm thinking after a radio and OS reinstall it might be ok.
Is $50 worth it. Where can I get an originally battery? And will the phone still work if I call and register it on another Verizon account?
Thanks for any help.
So worth it....ebay
OK, so I got the Droid and I have it home. I got a battery cover and battery from my friend at verizon.
So, what Recovery options are there for the Droid. I don't know anything about the droid. I've always done things on my Nexus One only. I tried holding X while booting and this is the screen I get
http://twitpic.com/2lpio0
and this Droid has an endless boot-loop. I'm not sure whats wrong atm. or what verizon may have tried to do to fix it for the customer. What should be my first move. How can I boot into the stock recovery and do a factory wipe?
Update. I've loaded SPRecovery ESE81 while following the Cyan Wiki for the Droid. I've tried a Full Wipe, and Cache wipe. It still does an endless boot-loop.. I'm not sure what my next move is from here.
I was going to keep following the Cyan Wiki for the Droid and install the rooted ESE81.update file from the Wiki. But that is 2.1 and I'm pretty sure the phone has 2.2 So the radio's wouldn't match. Or would flashing the ESE81 file from the wiki also do the radio? (if so from there I'd be rooted and can flash some CM6 like I have on my Nexus One). I'm not sure what to do next. I don't know how messed up it is, or what all Verizon did. but for now it boot-loops, and it has SPRecovery ESE81 on it.. What should I do next. What steps should I take?
Thanks for any help!
*Update - I've learned Droid doesn't have Radio mis-match problems. thats only GSM phones, so from here I should just flash the rooted ESE81 and from there flash CM6 right?
double post
Well, something messed up here. I was able to load 2.1 on the phone it booted once, seemed fine and on reboot I'm back to boot loops all over again, tried wipe and reflash. Same thing. I then flashed CM6.0-Droid and now I get the CM boot animation, but it still is having a boot loop. I'm not able to get it to boot into the system other than that one time. WTH.
idea's? oh and how do I charge the Droid without it turning on, when I plug it in, it boots. (N1 doesn't do this)
Try using RSDlite to flash ese81 while in the bootloader screen. (Bootloader - power and up on d-pad)

my solution is ... charge the battery using external charger

A few questions first:
What ROM did he try to flash?
Did he try to flash it through Clockwork Recovery or ROM Manager?
When you try to turn the phone on, does the backlight come on the screen or anything? Or does it just sit there without even making an attempt to turn on?
Flashing the wrong ROM would not hard brick your phone. The install of the ROM would simply fail. If anything, it sounds like your friend tried to flash a ROM and the battery either died or was taken out during flashing. Please post back so we can all try to help.
He is talking about me
I flashed it through CWM and went to restart and now the phone is dead
No lights nothing no vibrate it simply will not turn on
flashed it with

So the ROM flashed but when you went to reboot, that's when the phone froze up?
Are you 100% sure there was enough battery life when you flashed it? You really might have hard-bricked it. I figured the ROM would just simply fail installing because that's usually what happens.

I honestly don't know what to say. If the phone is completely unresponsive then it very well could be a hard-brick. The only thing you can do then is call Verizon, tell them that you had a software update for your Revolution and the phone shut off in the middle of the update and now will not come on at all. They'll probably send you a free one (hopefully). That's really about the only thing I can think of. Have you tried just plugging it in to see if it charges at all? Plug it in and see if either the screen will come on or you at least get the LED light to come on. If not then do what I said a second ago and call Verizon.
Yeah I get nothing, they are going to send me a new one. Thanks anyway.

Yeah I've been there, it sucks really bad. The reason why it happened other than the fact that the ROM is for a different phone, is because the ROM has a boot.img that is not compatible with the Revolution. So once you changed the boot.img the phone was no longer able to boot up. At least that's what I think about it.

Clockwork Mod HTC Vivid the same as Holiday?

So this is just a question as I was browsing through the rom manager program I noticed the HTC Holiday is now listed in their devices.
As I have been researching this phone I believe the phone was referred to as the HTC Holiday
Basically my question is, Is this the device to select or is it referring to an OEM or pre release handset or is it the same as the AT&T Vivid.
I hope that made sense, if not please let me know and I will do my best to make my question more clear.

I believe it is added as of today, I personally have loved rom manager though I understand your reasons for not liking it. I just want to confirm it is comparable with the AT&T device before putting it on and flashing what ever version of clockwork recovery it has to offer.... (I bought my phone at an early upgrade price so $350 makes me quite a bit cautious with it....)
I just loaded the recovery labeled holiday and you get stuck at the HTC boot screen. Going back to the recovery from the sticky. A later update might fix it.

It's working for me
I have the Vivid and downloaded Rom Manager on a whim. Saw the Holiday, selected it. Tried to backup the Att rom, failed - needed cwm installed. Chose option to let RM flash CWM. The version it put on caused RM to puke when attempting to backup. Flashed CWM v5.0.2.7 from PC. Rebooted and mysteriously lost root. Had to pull the battery a few times during all this.
Rerooted using HTCSupertool, and RM has worked just fine since.
So some flakes, but when ironed out seems OK.
I did a nand backup and a restore just to be sure I could get back and both operations completed without error.
Waiting to get full charge on the phone then will flash first custom rom.

well, the battery life was pretty bad on the thing and was pissed that the 'extended battery' was only 250mAh more then the stock. on top of that, unless the phone was charging in 'ac mode', it would lose charge if you were trying to use it while in 'usb mode' charging. also i had severe reception issues with it(kept going back & forth from 3g to 4g & occasionally lost signal all together). and finally, i wanted the extra cash for something.
either way though i qualify for another upgrade this march anyway... pretty sure though that i'm just going to hold off until the quad's are out.

If you look in one of the .901 threads you can find a link to.download the update. Flash it in bootstrap. After that you can change to any of the .901 compatible ROMs. I don't think the ROMs update the radio.

yeah the how to's in the dev section aren't exactly user friendly. basically though, i was not able to get CWM to work on it's own. you have to download that "Safestrap" .apk and install it. after doing so, it will install recovery itself. once that's done, you reboot your phone and press the MENU key once prompted, then you'll go into recovery.

I may write out a few how to's with all the fixes.
I agree, out of all the phones/tabs I've rooted/ROM'd the how to's in the Bionic Dev section are a bit...lacking.
All the info is there, but it takes you 5 hours to figure it out b/c the steps, dummy guides, fixes are spread out all over the place between here and a few other forums.
Safestrap is really nice though.

Yeah, your right. I don't know exactly what safestrap is (assuming its similar to bootstrap which I use) and when I tried to research it I got confused and just decided to stick with bionic bootstrap since I can't find a reason why its needed even though everyone talks about it.
I wouldn't use rom manager, just do everything in one of the two recoveries. Here's a breakdown of the recoveries for the Bionic
Bionic Safestrap
-Allows two system partitions
-One system is non-safe system where your main stock system resides. You can make and restore backups in this partition but you cannot install custom roms.
-The other system is safe system. This is the partion that lets you install roms and what not.
-You can toggle between the two systems from within safestrap recovery. It will automatically backup the current system before switching over.
-Safestrap has a nice feature that prevents bricks. On restart if Safestrap is installed there is a boot menu that pops up. You can hit the menu button to get into recovery from there. This comes in handy if you are having a bootloop. Just pull battery, restart phone and hit menu key when safestrap animation appears.
-One downside is that webtop doesn't work in safe system and the rom may run a tad bit slower in safe system partition
Bionic Bootstrap
-This is the riskier one
-This is more like regular clockwork recovery. You boot intro recovery from the bootstrap app.
-You can make backups, install roms etc in bootstrap recovery
-If you enter a bootloop while using bootstrap recovery, your phone is pretty much bricked. Because of the encrypted bootloader there is not a way to get back into recovery if using bootstrap. You will have to use sbf/fxz from a pc computer to unbrick your phone.
*You can use bootstrap to install a custom rom as your main system, and then install safestrap after if you want. But fully know what your are doing before you do this. If you don't use webtop, I recommend safestrap recovery for everything. Here is something I wrote over at Droidforums
-I have been testing roms out in safestrap to make sure they install and load up correctly
-I then toggle back to my main system in safestrap
-I then uninstall safestrap and install bootstrap.
-Then I boot into bootstrap recovery through that app
-Make a backup in bootstrap (always have a backup of your stock unmodified system)
-Wipe data and cach
-Install the Rom that I first tested in safestrap
-After Rom loads up and your are done flashing you can install safestrap again if you want. This way you will have a rom as your safe system and you can have another rom as your non-safe system. Webtop will work with roms on your main system.

The Nexus isn't worth it. I've tested it out and wasn't too impressed. One big thing I didn't like about it was that it only had 3 buttons compared to the normal 4 (home, back, search, menu). That might not be as big of deal with newer users who aren't as used to certain things, but I've been with Android for almost 3 years so the typical 4 buttons is a must as its something I became used to.
As far or the specs, its nothing to get excited about when they have much better coming out this spring and summer.
As far as ice cream sandwich, the bionic is getting it and will have Google's help with getting it set up for our phones.

Need help going back to stock

I have a bionic that i system updated to 5.9.902 a couple days after i got it. Then i made the mistake of coming here and messing up my phone because i have no idea what I'm doing
I installed safestrap and did the whole noob step by step guide. Installed eclipse and a couple other roms. For some reason i wiped my internal and external storage. I have no backups of anything.
I've tried releasedroot, petes, rds lite with the 902 xml. I got stuck all the time with what seemed to be a driver issue.
I just want to return this thing to stock and stop messing with it
As of now when I press power i go straight to ap fast boot flash failure screen. I press power to power off and hold vol up and down to boot into recovery but just pick the normal boot option. Phone then boots into what seems to be my stock 902. I dont know if im rooted anymore.
If i could rid my phone of this flash failure and safestrap, i would be stupid happy
Anyone out there willing to help a total noob? If any more info is needed I'd be happy to provide

What error did you receive using rsdlite?
When you go into your phone settings..can you verify your on 902?
I'm at work now but it was some sort of usb failure. It got stuck on 1/22 mbm something.
Yes as of right now im on 902.
Is there a tutorial on how to completely remove usb drivers? Even though rsdlite says I'm connected, I don't see my phone drivers in device manager. That's where I think I'm going wrong but not really sure.
