***Updated hack proceedure****

I am sure this throttle folder is like the "relay contacts" acted on by an account setting of some kind.
The hack works on my Dx2. It is like I am on wifi. My speeds have doubled at least, 4x at most.
/
I have UL data BTW.
Any one have this folder on their D3? Just fishing.
I got it. This mean I'm being throttled?
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Yes, do speed test, then the hack. The files should have a few bytes. Follow the post exactly.
Root Explorer or File Expert (free)work well.
I did it and report a 3x increase in both download and upload speeds. even though they're both still a paltry 600kbs/sec haha. But at those speeds anything is appreciated ^_^ thanks for the post
Was very skeptical about this at first, because we had things like this on the DInc that didn't do anything.
But I can confirm this actually does something.
Before this, my down was 0.25-0.40mbps and up was 0.40-0.50mbps.
After, my down is 1.30-1.50mbps and up is 0.80-1.10mbps.
Tested before 5 times with speedtest.net app, tested after 5 times with speedtest.net app.
Works! Great find.
Download speed before: 1.1 -1.5 kbs/s
Download speed after 1.5-1.7 kbs/s
So, I ran this mod, even though I was gettting 2.2mb down and 0.7 up, and now, im down to 0.6 down and 0.5 up. Also, my phones temp has dramatically increased. From a normal running temp of 29 degrees to 38 degrees.

Well, my speed is back up to what it was, not sure what's up with my data speed. But my temp is still way high.

I'm noticing an increased temperature, as well. I will keep an eye on it...
Temp is down to 32 degrees, which is in my normal operating range, but still on the warm side. It peaked at 41 degrees for a bit while completely idle.

I could be that limited data plans are treated differently from UL plans and your nearest tower may be the limiting factor.
No matter what your results are please post your data plan and location if you do not mind.

Boonies aye. You may only get 1x? Do you get 3G?
Yes. My 3g service is usually pretty prime. Like I said, usually between 1.6-2.2. Though, normally im a town over (pullman, wa) for work. Could that affect my 3g at all?
sent from my MONSTERDroid3 from the XDA app
IDK. You did a nandroid? If not , Did you use Root Explorer? It makes a BU.
Yeah, I made a nandroid and used root explorer. I can revert no problem.
sent from my MONSTERDroid3 from the XDA app
Reverted, and my data speed is back up again. Wonder why it does the opposite for me?

first gotta run the speedtest - then will give it a shot (sorry about the stupid post - need 10 to post in dev forums)

did you guys just delete the .bak files that were created after editing the relevant files?
---------- Post added at 02:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:16 AM ----------
no noticeable difference really. the average download speed was about 100k faster due to one aberrational speedtest where i got like 2.5 down
while this isn't necessarily the same throttle mod he's testing, this post is a great read in regards to testing speeds on mobile networks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987029
until i see something of a similar scale done for this mod, i still believe any differences you see are well within normal levels of fluctuation

This thread is for anybody to post the Quadrant scores they achieved using their Droid Bionic. As accounting for the future, please state if you applied any hacks or mods to alter your score. To qualify please post an accompanying screenshot.
Note: Also please keep in mind during comparison with other phones, this uses a qHD resolution for the GPU test therefore just alone with that it will naturally be slower than comparable WVGA resolution (800x480) phones like the Samsung Galaxy SII.
Top Score
terrapin01 - 2607 (Link)
Quadrant is a not a good measure of anything really. Apps and custom roms can be made to insert pre set values. my old droid 1 according to quadrant is like 8x more powerful than a dx2 or bionic. Which of course it isn't.
Quadrant scores have little to no true accuracy for real performance.
aka, scores dont mean anything.
2518 stock!!!!

Not really. Neocore is a pretty good benchmark, but it's bias towards the Snapdragons with Adreno GPUs. Linpack is also not a good indicator of performance.
The best indicator? Real-world performance. Is it fast? Then it's fast. You don't really need numbers to tell you whether something is speedy or not.
Trolling cleared...stay on topic peeps or this thread will be swimming with ze fishes

Does anyone have a messaging apk w a 5mb limit? Is it that simple just to install one w a 5mb limit or is it more intricate than that? Thank you.
I had alimit on my evo but didn't know how much.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I have an evo currently and friends w tbolts. They are capped at 1200kb and some (most)of the pics, they send look like crap lol. My Evo has a 5mb limit and it sends large uncompressed files.
I'd love this too
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I made one, but it didn't work right.
It doesn't matter what the limit is in the mms app, if Verizon has it capped. If you can verify that Verizon has not capped it, I will test further.
My testers had a hard time sending and receiving anything sent out at that size.
Thanks for looking into this. Mad96 tried gosmspro and when he set it to anything above 1.2mb it failed. Maybe its the way the rom he is on is doing the pics. I dunno. I am just trying to help them.
On my Evo it used to be 4g only sending large files but as the roms came I have been able to set my limit and easily send large files thru 3g. The pics are very crisp.
Thanks again for all your help
I honestly think VZW has a network cap.
That maybe true. I will suggest to them to do a backup, flash a stock rom and test. If its clear then it has to be something in the rom causing it. Weird Verizon wouldn't offer more.

I've tried searching but i don't think I'm using the right search terms.
I have this sweet bionic with blazing 4g speed but I am unable to rule the air as advertised. So I take this sick hd video I'm anxious to share with the world. I go to share said 25mb video and get denied! No wifi, says the phone, no sharing. I tried to explain that my 4g is LTE, the real deal but she wouldn't have none of it!
I'm rooted and stock rim. Is there some kind of hack or workaround that will allow me to share my seed and rule the air without wifi? Seriously, what good is 8-10mbps upload if you can't even use it? What the heck do you even upload if you take out videos of your cat or neighbors wife anyway?
Thanks for the help!

I don't really understand what your problem is. You don't have a data connection? I share large videos via Bluetooth sometimes, g-mail if under 25MB, Facebook, or DropBox. You can also use youtube but I don't.
From what I gathered you want to have your phone as a hotspot? So you can connect you laptop etc and share the connection?

No I want to share a video to youtube, but because of its size or something it will only allow uploading it over wifi. I want to know if there is a way to workaround that and force the upload/share over 4g or even 3g.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
If you turn off the setting I referenced earlier, you will be able to upload files larger than 5mb.
Thank you, but data saver is not checked so it is off. I did not realize the setting was already there but i've never had that on. Weird guess I'll try it with it on.
Thanks cobra

OK, so I can upload a 10mb video no problem. But the 25mb video that I was originally trying to upload still says waiting for wifi. Thanks for your help, i guess it's just not possible.

On older versions it was a little faster.
I'm using fasty rom.

Yep I do like the older versions the new one sucks.
I believe it has a memory leak. I've seen it climb up to 44mb of ram. I emailed the dev but never got a reply.

It's an absolutely terribly coded app. It's basically the web interface with terribly memory management issues. It's hit as high as 55MB of RAM usage on my phone. I recommend just making a bookmark to the mobile sit and using that through the browser. It's essentially the same experience until we can get a decent Facebook app

Yeah the Facebook App has always been extremely slow for me. Takes upwards of 30+ seconds to sometimes refresh news feeds or to change sections. I've opted to use the mobile site version instead now... and guess I'll give friend caster a try!

It rarely notifies you, which is extremely annoying.
Facebook app is one SORRY A$$ excuse for an app...i really don't understand how they have that many people working and the updates just kept getting worse and worse...now it's just a huge battery hog and doesn't even do what it's supposed to properly...all those negative comments in the reviews and they just lie complacent as if nothing's going on....i swear it's a ruse by Zuckerberg showing favoritism to Apple probably...a-holes
Thanks for the TIP on the Friendcaster. that works very fast. now adding to my tablet as well.
One other tip I'd offer is looking into Tinfoil for Facebook. It's essentially just a cached, Sandbox'd version of the mobile site, but there's a dedicated app for it, and it does run fairly fast on my phone!
Friendcaster is lightyears faster and more efficient than the Official Facebook App.
The facebook app is utter crap. Way too slow!! Better off using the browser.

It won't let me download it from the market... even when i went through app brain once I got to the android market app it said device not compatible.
Did you guys trick it into thinking your device was compatible?
GTA III costs a few bucks but worth it ran flawless on my bolt. The game it self does a check before starting to make sure your rom and ram is ok if not black screen is all you will see. Most people have the tendency to open the app and get the black screen easy fix just close any other running service you dont need then free up some ram, go back and should work if not close out open again 3rd times the charm I always say. And for capadable device it wasnt tested for the thunderbolt after I beat the game I messaged the rockstar guys basically saying a thumbs up for the thunderbolt.
Does it control similarly to the Gameloft Modern Combat/Nova games? I just picked those up and am starting to become a believer in touchscreen FPS/action games.
