Sorry for the grammer, engish is not my native language
Hope You all understund it and you can help me asap.
If some one have solution for that then my email is [email protected]
Cheers.
Do you mean an external antenna? Or an app from the market or somewhere?
Have you tried a factory reset or flashing stock firmware?
Did you change any settings?
Usually your carrier has a technical department that should help with this type of thing..
Yeah, external antenna on phone back side.
I have change before that about three times different custom and original roms. Nothing helps. I havent change anything.
Is it possible that, phone changed external antenna to primari, and it do not change it back?
Or maybe some one can share rom what is made by Three.co.uk . Then i am able to send phone in warranty.
Original rom 2.2.1 for i9000
go to samfirmware.com and try find it there... the carrier options i think are at the bottom.
However as far as i am aware, 3 do not have their own specific roms, i thought they have standard, roms... I could be wrong

note: my cellphone was locked to Claro unlocked it by samsung s unlocker app.. now i'm in the Meddle East Yemen...

Go to this page--"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881"
Download the firmware for your region, the correct one, and flash through odin.
Hope you have flashing knowledge. and that will fix the modem issue.
thx my friend .. ya know how to flash with oden ... one more Q is my problem in the modem 100%?? can the problem be in the hardware?
i was in the Official GB 2.3.3.. is it the same thing or i have to try this one also?
Modem can be the main problem if you dont have signal at all.
But even after flashing the correct rom and modem for your location and you face the problem there could be chances of hardware, very rare though, or could be the area your living at, far away from the city or maybe some area that dosnt fall under a proper network coverage.
could be anything. Just flash the correct firmware rom modem whatever, check that your at an open good place, call and message your friends and check for network problems. Hope this helps.
thx friend.. there is a signal but weak and NOT about the aria i live in coz my brother has HTC with the same network nothing wrong also my sis has Nokia n8 with the same network company also nothing wrong at all clear sounds receiving and sending not as my cellphone many problems with sending and receiving sounds i hear them clearly but they barley hear me and sometimes the line goes off!
this problem is killing me.. plz help
up up up up up
you're wiping cache and dalvik cache in recovery before flashing these modems? also, don't plug your charger/usb in while doing it; it's known to cause zero signal when flashing UCKF1, even though it would work otherwise.
Also: you could try entering service mode and checking your settings there.

Oh, I linked to you the wrong post in that thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9201884&postcount=2
First one, for signal -- choose menu items by the numbers like he said.
Also find out what bands your network uses (both for calls and data) and make sure you have the right settings -- they likely should be; they'll be in that services menu.
Sorry, figuring this out will take you a lot of searching, reading and playing around. Just note down what you do so you can go back to it if you have to.
man i did what he said and there r 1.8.3 but 6 not there in my menu there r just 1.2.3.4.5 ... 6 is not there????????
up up up up plz help
:'(
what should i do?? i'm going to throw it
Please try your SIM card in any other cell phone (eg. your sister's). If it has the same weak signal then it's possibly the card that is caussing all your trouble. I heard of similar problems when people received new SIM cards from providers because of network issues. I don't have any idea what a SIM card has to do with signal strenght but that's just what I was told.
If this also doesn't work then it might be your hardware.
nothing works :'(

Try flash a stock firmware let it boot and see if the problem persist, if all is OK then flash back to your preferred rom.
@intratech has a lot of roms, modem and guide, search his thread

Hey, how is it now? Did you try zodiaxe66's suggestion?
Did you once have good reception with that same phone and sim?
Hi Team,
I have heard lot about this forum and hope to get some gud suggestions from you guys.
I bought my Samsung Galaxy ace GT-S5830 with android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS 6 months back but slowly I started facing few problems when my friends noticed and told me that your phone sometimes says switch off.
I also realized that sometimes even if the airtel network is there still i get an error message that mobile network not available I had to switch off the phone to get it normal.
Again people text me but it goes on pending and gets delivered after hours. I showed this problem to the service center they flashed my mobile but the problem persist I also tried changing my sim card but still all in vain. Now i am literally fed up with this phone.
Please assist me I dont know wat to do :crying:
Note: The phone is not rooted.
Thank you
err, are you sure this is because of the phone..? not the network..? because i never face any of the problems you mention..
may be you should try flashing stock rom with newest baseband for your region, find it on sammobile..

He said the service centre guys reflashed the rom. but agree that the sms thing could be network problem.
Faulty battery/pins (Switch offs)
Faulty hardware (Antenna?)
That's all I can identify.
Hi Guys !!!
Thanks for sharing your views
@demiorkan
The mobile automatically does not gets switched off but i need to do it manually as it keeps on prompting the error message "Mobile network not available" though I can see full network on my mobile.
I would really appreciate if I get any suggestions from your side.
Let me know if any more information is required.
If you dont mind you could try flashing another stock rom and see if that works out. If it did not, then it's probably a hardware problem OR the network (as mentioned). Try your SIM card on another phone as well, that should prove if there is problem with the network or not.
Mostly it might be a firmware problem. Service center might not have flashed a new firmware but simply wiped and gave back. (can't be sure on that). So I recommend on using ODIN and flash new firmware. Google is your best friend on this.
Secondly about the network, Turn on flight mode once and turn it off, you'll get the signal. You can even do some debugging by going to the testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and toggle the radio and the preferred connection type and stuff. But if the place where you are is such that you get low signal, then don't try any things on phone as it's ultimately the network problem. Trust Me, the place where I stay, I rarely get proper reception and Even I'm on the same network. Flight Mode trick saves the unnecessary reboot.
Before I buy another used Captivate to swap motherboards, I'd like to know if there's anything else I should look at.
Scenario: Bought used Captivate with bad USB port and running CM9 Beta. Once I finally got my SIM card, I had no network signal (couldn't even find any operators when you search for them). Redid the APNs multiple times though those seem to be for Internet and MMS rather than cell. Wifi works fine. Flashed to CM 9.1 stable. No difference. Verified phone is unlocked. Verified IMEIs match. Verified baseband was listed. Verified my phone # is listed. Flashed to CM 7.1. No difference. I wanted to flash to stock but can't because Mobile Odin won't work with CM's partition layout. Thus, it seems I am stuck with CM or MIUI.
Is there anything in efs or another system directory that could prevent me from getting a signal?

I've been with you on another thread so I know for a fact you've tried all that stuff. But I don't recall did you ever try to flash an new or different modem? If you haven't or just want to try a new one I attached the one I use. Or I can get you the link to a page with a whole lot of others to choose from.
Other than trying a new modem I'm at a loss as to what it could be besides hardware at this point. Btw were you ever able to test your sim card in another phone to make sure it's functioning? Or do you know anyone with an att sim that you could test your phone with?
Things you could try:
1. Turn the flight mode on and then turn it off and see if that helps.
2. Open the phone and see if the antenna's contact points are okay.
3. Open the nv_data.bin in efs directory and see if the value at the offset(you can search for the exact value) that stores the network lock flag is 00. If it is 01 then it is still locked. I know you checked for the lock already but it never hurts to double check. You could also take a look at nv.log and see if there is anything there at the end that might be helpful. You could also check for lock by dialing *#7465625#.

My next move was to flash some other modems actually, but I may wait until after tomorrow (see below). I tried to swap with my SIL who is on the same service but her phone takes the micro SIM. I'll try again Wed night with another choir member that has an ATT S2 I think.

1. No help.
2. Where are the contact points? I've not found any schematic or disassembly instructions for this phone. I can see the external antennae connector, of course.
3. That was how I verified it was unlocked. All the bits in the appropriate area were 00. I'll have to look at the log file.
How would I dial any service code with no service? It tells me "mobile network not available" once I hit the Phone button.
New Info
I'm really hoping this is the answer to all my headaches the past several days trying to figure out why this phone won't get service. I just spent the past hour on the phone with my OLD carrier trying to re-activate my OLD phone with a different number to give to my son. We had to jump through a bunch of hoops because my old line was still "suspended" because of the port order. It is due to be "deleted" tomorrow. So even though my NEW carrier said activation was complete and my OLD phone stopped making and receiving calls 8 days ago, could the fact my number has been "suspended" be the reason I can't see any GSM networks?
Sadly my SIM worked in another phone but his didn't in mine.
Looks like I have a mini netbook.

I'm not getting ANY signal. It always shows -110 dbM or less and 0 or 1 asu. The seller said the GPS worked fine, but I don't get a lock on that either (but maybe you need to "fix" the GPS with each ROM flash?). I've only been concerned with cell service at this point.
I'm going to pick up another Captivate in another hour. I'd like to root and unlock it right there to make sure it works, but don't think I'm that good yet to do quickly and safely. Assuming it's running KK4, the Easy Root pgm seems simple enough to root. May also try SuperOneClick.
For unlocking, I'd hoped to use Galaxy_S Unlock, but couldn't figure out how to get it onto my micro SD card to load onto the other phone.
The "new" Captivate works. It came with KK4 and a good USB port. I'll flash something onto it soon once I learn how to properly back up everything.
glad your new one works.
re: old phone gps. i think you may need to edit gps.conf in etc folder to set gps mode to standalone, rls the gps wants a network connection. in standalone mode, expect a v long time to lock, like 15 minutes.

If you start the phone without a sim card in it, does it detect its absence and vice versa too? If that functions properly then another possibility could be that the IMEI of the phone might be blacklisted. It might have been reported as stolen. You could call your carrier to find that out.

Yes, it detected whether a SIM was in it or not. When I had signed up for the new service it had said the IMEI was OK. I guess that doesn't mean it stayed that way. I would think that would just prevent you from accessing the service, not prevent you from detecting a signal at all. When I picked up the second used Captivate, his SIM card had been deactivated, but it still showed it was getting a signal.

Once I had my efs folder deleted while flashing a rom and my IMEI defaulted to some value and it showed no signal at all. I checked IMEI and realized it was a different one and that led me to look at the efs. Once I restored the efs folder from my back up, all was fine again. Therefore I think if your IMEI is blacklisted it could happen and hence made that suggestion to call your carrier. Your carrier might also be able to tell you if your phone made any attempts to register on their network or not.
Hi, so i got this Galaxy Note from a friend, no warranty. I live in Italy and I use Telecom. When i insert my sim the phone doesn't seem to find my service, it only finds other Italian services, which i don't use. I already tried to reflash the last firmware, i tried to change modem and i tried to tear it down too to see if the antenna cable was disconnected but it wasn't. I dont really know what to do, do you have any advice?
Up! Cmon guys it s important
I have been using OP3T for the past five years. I recently moved my house and there, the cell signal strength is not that strong. My OP phone is struggling to get proper connection during calls. I tried changing the network provider, tried resetting network data, done factory reset, etc.
I got it tested by a local phone service centre and they changed the 'IC' of the device.
The service centre now suggests to try changing '4G IC' of the device. He told me there is another IC separately for LTE/4G - we could try changing that if this doesn't work. Not sure what IC he had changed in the first place or if that was the cause.
Should I proceed changing the 4G IC? What could be possible causes of this problem?
Can anyone help please.

The IC probably is jargon for the modem part or antenna.
You could proceed to change it, but before that, are you on custom rom or stock rom?

It was not antenna - I asked it. He said it's less likely to be a problem with antenna.
Not sure if it's the modem part though.
I'm on custom rom now - but it was recently flashed. The problem was there earlier (in stock) and now as well.

Yeah then it may be a hardware problem given not fixed by custom rom. You can replace more ICs
