I'm trying to edit the status_bar.xml in systemui.apk/res/layout/ to direct to an image (statusbar_background.png)
Iv'e edited lines 2 and 19:
<com.android.systemui.statusbar.StatusBarView
<com.android.systemui.statusbar.DateView
From
android:background="#ff000000"
To
android:background="@drawable/statusbar_background"
The image shows on boot but instantly force closes.
Have i missed something completely obvious
The systemui in question is taken from a Touchwiz based Rom.
Hopefully someone can shed some light.
Here are my before and after xml's

I don't like to see "smart mobility" anymore on my starting boot-screen !
Does somebody knows, how to change it ?
Perhaps it's possible to change over extraction by a kitchen to edit it.
But I don't know how to and which file has to be changed ?
Thanks in advance for an advice.

Well here is an option.
Navigate to the balckstone root page the one were all four sections are.
The under sub forum balckstone use the "search the forum"
The type in splashscreen
Please read the stickys and the anouncements before you post your first post. That way you might get more replies that views.

Sorry, I wasn't asking, how to search something.
In the existing threads there is nothing that solves this problem.
I think you don't understand my question. I don't want to change the "splashscreen" of TouchHD-Animation or WindowsMobile-Welcomehead.
I mean the first starting Boot-Splash, that is black and where is written "smart mobility".
There is already an identical 3d here

Unfortunalety no solution yet.
I'm trying the Kaiser method, but the HTCRT does not support yet the Blackstone
My HTCRT which I use but u need to modify urs is
[Info]
Magic=kateiloveyou
Version=1003
[Defaults]
DefCountryId=11111111
DefVersionId=1.00.000.0
DefLanguageId=WWE

RomSections=4, "0x200,SPL,524288,TRUE", "0x600,Splash,655360,FALSE", "0x301,Radio,20840448,TRUE", "0x400,OS,0,FALSE"
A very big thans Dutty!!!!!!
Updated the HTCRT, now I'm facing another problem...
Also the "nb_image converter" from madkat and (not sure 100%) the "SplashTool" from pof needs to be updated for the new image size (originally made for the classic QVGA 240x320)...
Waiting for some HD's cook suggestion !!!
Done!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why, but the original Splash have a size of 786432, instead of the 655360, so I changed this value and flashed the nbh.... WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!!!
Follow the guidelines of mr.POF here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405118 and then use the HTCRT to compile the *.nb file
Somebody explane more and make simple tutorial please
The guide is here: http://rapidshare.com/files/179849983/Splash_HD.rar
In the package there is also a (poor) WWE pfd with the instructions
This is an example
Thanks for the link.
Finally, I can solve the problem with the black border at the bottom.
The picture is now on the whole screen displayed.
Happy to ear some positive comments ! ! ! ! !
Thanks

Would you please mind opening a wiki page with your findings and thus help others ??
Added link to the HD-Blackstone Wiki pages
Thanks
Now I realized a very good solution !
1. Extracting original 02_MainSplash.nbh to 02_MainSplash.nb with (NBHUtil) NBH-Utility V0.9 of Olipro 2008
2. Converting 02_MainSplash.nb to 02_MainSplash.nb.bmp with nbimg-1.1win32
3. Changing 02_MainSplash.nb.bmp by painting with my creations of Intro
4. Converting 02_MainSplash.nb.bmp to Splash.nb with nbimg-1.1win32
5. Editing XML of NBHUtil with:
<device name="Touch HD" chunksize="64">
<ModelID>BLACK*****</ModelID>
<CID>11111111</CID>
<Ver>1.00.BlackStone</Ver>
<Lang>GER</Lang>
<Item value="0x200">SPL</Item>
<Item value="0x301">Radio</Item>
<Item value="0x400">OS</Item>
<Item value="0x600">Splash</Item>
</device>
6. Building Splash.nbh with NBHUtil
7. Flashing Splash.nbh with customruu.exe
Big Thanks to all, who gave the resources to solve this problem

One question.
Will the splash screen be updated to default one when upgrading ROM?
Do I need to redo this after ROM upgrade?
TIA
Does anybody know where I can find the the XML that controls the BootScreen animation? I would like to convert back to the original glow image for a custom boot image.
Any and input on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
if it is for a hero rom i do not know where the files are, but in the cupcake builds the boot screen is located in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/assets/images/android-logo-shine.png. i do not know if there is a .xml file that controls it since all the posts and threads i have read regarding changing the animation revolve around the android-logo-mask.png and android-logo-shine.png files. sorry if this is not what you are looking for, but i figured i would share my little knowledge on the subject to see if it could at least going in the right direction.
off topic sorry
is this for the zelda theme you are working on? so far the direction i see the theme going in, it is going to look amazing. keep up the great work

I'm sorry if this question had been asked already, but I've been googling for 2 days and I'm going crazy...
I found tutorials such as this one, but I don't have a statusbar_background.png file in the drawable folder, in there I only have status_bar_background.hml. I have statusbar_background.9.png in the drawable-mdpi folder where the other requested files are also located, but I'm reluctant to use it since I don't exactly know whats the difference between .png and .9.png. Another tutorial , besides statusbar_background.png, also asks for classes.dex, extracted from services.jar, and I don't have this one either. I guess it's a Froyo thing all these little differences, but I don't want to improvise, so can anyone, please, help out with a tutorial or suggestions on how to edit the status bar for this built?
All useful help much appreciated! Thanks!
P.s. I'm uploading the framework-res.apk, extracted from my phone, in case someone needs to see what it consists of and how things are organized inside.
Do I have to deodex? If so, how?
Anybody?
Im trying to change the colour of my roms subtext i have the following files extracted from my rom
twframework-res.apk
framework-res.apk
SystemUI.apk
And i am using APK Manager
I was told i need to edit a xml file located in res/values/ and the file to edit was called subtext colour.
my rom is Checkrom NoteHD v6 its a Touchwiz,Gingerbread rom,
Here is what i did
1.put framework-res.apk in the put apk here for modding folder
2.pressed 22 then 1 then pressed 10 to decompile with dependencies
3.dragged twframework-res.apk onto the cmd window
4 edited the xml- changed the hex colour to #ff33b5e5
5.recompiled and DID NOT SIGN as i read before not to sign system apks.
6,pressed y it is a system apk pressed n on the next question and y i ended up trying both
7.put the unsigned framework-res on the phone OVERWRITING THE ORIGINAL then rebooted and bootloop
Tried this atleast 6 times now even tried dragging in the systemUI.apk just incase it needed that but no joy bootloop over and over again so i give up and im looking for help,
really 28views and not one person can help.

Haha i see my bad I also posted pretty much the same question in another thread but about doing it with ICS and got no reply there. but i decided to go back to Gingerbread so i made a new thread.
Yeeeeeeeeeees i finally figured it out Can a mod close this thread please cheers.
hi all
i dont know if it is an error or not when i recompile framework-res.apk all id="0x01xxxxxx" changed to id="0x03xxxxxx" such as :
<public type="string" name="global_action_power_off" id="0x01040193" />
changed to <public type="string" name="global_action_power_off" id="0x03040193" />
notice at RED number. So all the reference id in android.policy.jar will be different with id in framework-res.apk
that mean it will wont work
So your trying the way to properly de/recompile framework-res.apk right?
Don't delete the original public.xml, just edit it and add the new ID for the new variable you introduced.
I know exactly that error you just encountered coz I had those the first time I compiled my framework file last time.
Edit: this is actually a special case only, we're always aware that we need to delete public.xml and it will regenerate, not on this framework-res.apk(SysteUI.apk is fine), Sony f'd us too much already.

Apologies mate, I've only done reboot mod but not "reboot to recovery". On a stock Sony ROM, I haven't seen anybody have done it before ever since I had my first Sony phone since x8 , arc, P, until TX.

thanks.
i just add new id in original public.xml to recompile, and then decompile new framework-res.apk but why all id in public.xml had changed ? i'm not clearly about that.
please explain more. thanks.
and some *.png files had changed too (smaller file size) i used apktool 1.5.2
and do i need to follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321207
to avoid bootloop ?
You need to follow that guide the first time, otherwise it will only cause the phone to bootloop. Then after that you can de/recompile easily. Not sure about your question on public.xml. And it's better to post there if you got problem on recompile, more help you will get from there.
