I was able to get slightly used bionic for my thunderbolt from verizon for free. I had four thunderbolts with bugs and the forth phone and about six hours of trouble shooting verizon sent me a bionic. Never underestimate the power of system notes.

Bionic and ice cream sandwich

Beings that the bionic and almost every other phone has built in soft keys including the vigor which will be out soon, does anyone think any current phones will be getting an ICS update. ICS has the softkeys built into the screen like honeycomb. It would look a little funny with 2 sets of menu keys. Just seeing if anyone had any input on this issue
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I fully expect the Bionic to get ICS. In fact I'd be willing to bet it's one of the first non-nexus phones to recieve it. Being under the google umbrella is a good thing, which Motorola now is. As far as the buttons go, that's a software modification and I don't expect that to be much of a road block. Button remapping takes place all the time in custom kernels so the guys at Moto and or Google should be able to sort that out simple enough.
I was hoping so. It just seems one of the main ics features is no menu keys. I was just hoping it wouldn't have both
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
ICS is being hailed as bringing tablets and phones together, so something as simple as disabling some on-screen menu buttons doesn't sound like something they would overlook.
Even if we ended up with some ****ed up version of ICS that made our phones have two rows of menu buttons, it wouldn't take longer than a day for the hackers here on XDA to figure out how to hide them.
Seems to me that our softkeys would work just fine w/ ICS... all the screengrabs I see have home, back, and multitasking buttons. Remap the menu key to be for multitasking, and you're set, with a bonus search key that duplicates whatever search function is integrated w/ ICS elsewhere.

I think it kinda sucks that Samsung and Google are waiting on officially releasing ICS due to the passing of steve jobs. Yeah it can be respectful but that didnt stop apple from making money.
I doubt the Google acquisition will affect products in the pre-merger pipeline for a year. Short of layoffs, I've never seen a change in engineers assigned priorities right off the bat.

Back on topic please folks
I'm sure they have the ability to use the four keys just like 2.3.7 and below. I believe that they also said that it was the manufacturers choice when building phones and tablets which method they use back when they were first touring honeycomb on the XOOM. I'm sure that they won't give us two sets of keys and take up screen realestate.

One thing about the DROID 3...

I have owned many, android devices across AT&T and Verizon, starting from the htc magic, samsung captivate, htc inspire, htc DROID incredible, samsung fascinate, htc tbolt, DROID 1, DROID 2, and lastly the Bionic before this DROID 3. I hold absolutely no candle when it comes to developing the android os, but when it comes to experience with hardware that's where the experience is. The droid 3 just seems to blow the bionic out of the water with absolutely no lag in screen transitions, app drawer, browser loading time, etc. Im having a hard time with this, and am wondering if Im alone here or is it a placebo type thing being that im using maverick 3.0?
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
Do you buy all these phones at full retail?
Try golauncher or adw-ex, makes your phone feel so much faster
As far as the full retail goes, no. Only one I paid full price for was the inspire which I returned 3 days later.

it means that he feels weird or difficult to believe that the dorid 3 seems faster than a Bionic, being the bionic a better hardware...
@davwman
do you have the bionic too?
does it have roms as well?
???
Had the Bionic. It has a few roms, just didn't see the need to move to the Bionic after 3 days of use with it.

Really? I have a Droid 3 and 3 others in my family have Bionics. All my Bionics are far better than Droid 3 for speed and performance. What all have you done to the Droid 3? The Bionics have double the RAM that Droid 3 has and that is a big deal actually. I am still a physical keyboard guy and I wanted an international phone as I do travel internationally once in a while. For those reasons I still like the Droid 3 but my Bionics are faster.
Technically speaking yes, the Bionic should be faster on paper. But as the saying goes the DROID 3 has that "seat of the pants" feeling of being overall alot smoother. Im not saying thus is the case for everyone, but in mine, the DROID 3 feels better.

Bionic Or Thunderbolt

Hey guys Verizon needs to replace my Thunderbolt and after so many replacements they offered me a bionic. Would it be a good choice over my Bolt? We have S-off and Unlocked bootloader.
Pros of bionic:
Dual core 1.0ghz
1gb ram
Lots of great devs
Cons:
Stock has blur
Locked bootloader
And it's moto so probably no stock ics for about a year
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
another PRO for Bionic is killer long battery life since the .901 update, .902 is killer battery life also.
I uses to have the thunderbolt. The bionic is a much better phone.

Yeah this one's a no brainer. Get the bionic.
Regarding the above cons:
• Hexec workaround was recently posted allowing for custom kernels. This was really the last issue caused by the locked bootloader. In less than a month it will be old news
• There are CM9, AOKP, AOSP, and MIUI variants of ICS available now and improving daily. Who needs stock ICS?
My buddy has a tbolt and there's no comparison in the speed, responsiveness and battery life.

I think the skilled developers are on Motorola though. Look at what these guys are doing with a locked bootloader. We got a handful of ice cream with a locked bootloader. How much more can they do if it was unlocked.

im part of a concession line and we get upgrades every year. best buy mobile has been treating me so well that i just ended up buying the bionic. i got a tbolt for free and it was a great phone but when bionic came out like 2 months later i bought the bionic. i got it for 230 at cowboom.com. thats were we send all our phones that we get returned or serviced. its EXTREMELY cheap. spread it. i love my bionic and i plan on selling it tho. im using my tbolt because i got the infected rom on it with beats. i like it but i kind of miss my bionic. either way rezound here i come!!
Why would you NOT trade your garbage 3G tBolt for a bionic? Even if you had the data issues with the bionic, it's 100x better.

Actually now that I've had it I would have taken a bolt again is so weird all this stuff you have to do to flash anything. And it seems lime the only roms out are ics which are ok but still too many things broken for me. And there are no stock like roms with alot of features like on sense. But I like the phone. I just had more options on the bolt being I'm a themer I want something solid I can theme. But the bolt was the best phone for everything. And my data connection and speed is the same on both phones.

One thing though is the bionic screen and colors in it suck big time
And the rom selection on the bolt was crazy huge.

PM me if you're planning to sell your Revo
for me if i was gonna upgrade at this moment i would have to pick either the razr max or the lg spectrum dunno why but those 2 phones have caught my eye
I've just been on the Nexus for a day but I highly recommend it. Incredibly fast and smooth and tons of active development.

Since I've had so many issues with my phone and had to get 3 replacements they sent me a nexus instead of a new Revo free of charge without changing my contract. Ill have it Monday or Tuesday. To be honest tho I was looking thru the nexus forums and like the Revo community a whole lot more. I don't know why but it just feels more like home here

[Q] By a show of hands...

Who's still here? I know we have had a mass exodus from this device, but I'm curious how many stragglers we have left? If you're still here, are you leaving soon?

I'm sitting on the fence. I would settle for the phone being stable, regardless of what OS it runs on (which is what I'm working on). I've got my TF300 for Android play.
I'm considering whether it's worth trying to go through the hassle of packaging something, or just giving this thing the boot and buying a phone outright.
I won't be renewing my contract with Verizon EVER as I never want to lose my unlimited plan.
I have two. Might go to one soon......
Still have mine. My contract is up on Jan. 26th. which is 5 months early. I am guessing they are trying to get me off unlimited data early. I got news for them... Here at work we are part of Microsoft's Customer Assurance program. We test out software and devices for them in a live enterprise environment and report back any issues. Kind of like a closed beta tester. They give us phones for various carriers. We got iPhones, android, and windows phones to test their software on. We put in for WP8 if we get confirmation then we will get Lumia 822. I will just issue myself one of those to use till I tire of it. That way I can keep my unlimited data. Fran schammo can kiss my ass that greedy corporate douche.
That last post made me laugh. Not sure a "thanks" is appropriate, but it's as close as we have to a "rep" on this forum. Lol
But yeah, I've still got my Revo. I bought a Droid 4 on Ebay so as to not lose my unlimited data. I then discovered that the Revo was still usable for everything but cellular service, so I'm still using it a bit.
It's an easy way of getting Netflix in the living room for one thing.
I'm still here too. Been trying to work on a rom but between working 6 days a week, school, getting married 2 months ago, and now a pregnant wife things have been a little crazy...
I am stuck with this phone until October. Have gotten it to run fairly stable though, VOD about once a month and a couple screen freezes a week. If I can ever finish what I'm doing I will get it posted up here.

I'm on my 2nd Revo. Now know all the tricks (RAM is precious!). Have *all* the accessories (two car docks, home dock, regular and extended spare batteries and back, wireless charging pad, and back).
I'm having trouble finding another phone I want, once I accepted the limitations:
a. must limit widgets/running apps/total apps/certain apps, in order to keep free RAM at about 80-150MB.
b. ignore aesthetics (looks, bulk, screen). This is easy for me, and I actually like the Revo.
1. RAZR Maxx HD:
- both mostly at 4.3" screen (except RAZR Maxx HD is at 4.7" when viewing videos).
- battery life similar with extended battery (but Revo can swap batteries).
- Revo has wireless charging and dedicated car and home docks, and micro SD slot.
- RAZR Maxx HD has apt-X bluetooth codec, for great music fidelity with matching apt-X headphones.
- priced at ~ $500 used.
2. Galaxy S III:
- GS III has bigger screen at price of bigger phone.
- GS III feels less robust/more prone to screen cracks due to torquing.
- GS III has apt-X codec.
- priced at ~ $500 used.
3. LG Spectrum 2:
- see GS III above, but Spectrum 2 has no apt-X, and less accessories (no LG extended battery, even).
- comes with wireless charging back.
- priced at ~$350 used.
4. RAZR M:
- M has nice, smaller form factor, but with on-screen buttons, has only 4.0" screen most of the time.
- limited storage with no micro SD slot, limited internal storage.
- non-replaceable battery.
- has apt-X codec.
- priced at ~ $350 used.
I don't want to spend ~$350 to $500 for the privilege of giving up the capabilities of wireless charging, extended battery, home dock with separate battery charger, and car dock that starts up Revo's Car Home app when Revo is inserted.

Mainly I'm trying to keep it as stock as possible. Just adding a few new governors. But the main thing is to keep voltages at stock levels. I think that might be the cause of the vod. And I'm adding swap.
