SmartActions Battery Manager - Motorola Droid Bionic

With the RAZR announced today, one of Motorola's new software let's the user basically create profiles for the battery and processor, such as underclocking processor while on the phone, yet all with a locked bootloader. Any possible way we can see this on the BIONIC, etc?

Droid x overclocking and underclocking capiabilites?

Does anyone know what the phisical limitations are on the omap 3630 prossesor used in the Droid x and Droid 2? I would imagine that with the upgraded arm architecture we at the forum could acheive a workaround for the bootloader to find out exactly what this phone is capable of using some sort of custom kernal. I realize that most are going to say that 1ghz is plenty fast but I'm sure that's what they said about 550mhz on the original Droid. We must push the envelope for the simple reason of because where there is a will there is a way! If there are any on the forum with the skills u must not sit idle. I leave u with this challenge...

You can overclock if you're on 2.1 but not yet on 2.2
It appears that it is overclocked out of the box near limit, most anyones gotten is 1.2 I believe
I read that the 3630 is just a 3430 that is certified to run at 1ghz

Interesting my understanding was that the 3630 was built on the next evolution of arm axhitechture and therefore it uses a smaller manufacturing process alowing for higher clocks with less power at a more stable stastanible level. I heard that they found a way to change the multiplier or something but that is not the true overcloxk using custom kernals and voltages it is just a tweek on the stock kernal. I want more!

Oh look! This brainiac has decided that all forums should be disbanded and everyone should just search google for everything and hope for blog hits now.

[Q] Quadrant / Bionic / 2 core or 1 core ?

I was messing around with Quadrant yesterday and looked at the system info selection after running the app a couple of times. I noticed that Quadrant only recognizes the Droid Bionic as having a single core, does anyone know why that would be.
Cause Quadrant is dumb, and useless, and is only optimized for one core.
That being said, I still try to get higher scores each time....
H obey comb is the only android is which currently recoginizes and uses both cores.
ICS is bringing multicore and multiple thread support.
OMAP4 was chosen on nexus prime because it is the only multiple hread processor on the market.

Interested in keeping this thread alive to see if there is a benchmark program for our Dual Core machines.
smartbench is designed for multi-core

I've read Quadrant only recognizes the Xoom's dual core processor at this time. I'm not confident in the source, so feel free to investigate further.

Did you not read my last post.
Dual core implementation is a limitation of gingerbread.
Honeycomb is the only android OS that allows apps to use both cores.
ICS is sopose to bring that feature to smartphones.

Aka I have a dual core processor phone that only uses 1 core due to the OS.....awesome. Going to have to research that a bit.

What's the best rom for gaming?

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA
Hard to say since I've only used the Gummy ICS ROM, but from what I've played so far (N64oid and FPSE), it's great for gaming. Benchmarks are essentially equal to stock GingerBread though. To be honest, performance in gaming is probably going to be the same across the board, since there is no option for changing/upgrading the Bionic's kernel.
I'm on aokp axiom and it's super laggy.

Rooting without installing rom?

Would i be in the wrong if i just wanted root to remove bloat and overclock the existing rom?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I rooted my stock .902 rom and deleted bloatware without a single issue. I also installed safestrap so I have custom recovery just in case I want to use a custom rom later on. I haven't overclocked, hopefully someone who has can chime in on that aspect.

I am indeed rooted and overclocked on stock rom. I have tried a couple other roms but they use the same old launchers I had available to me on the thunderbolt. I kinda like the stock rom on this. seems plenty fast to me.
how did you overclock?

The route the worked for me was the How to overclock video tutorial thread, it's on the front Page here in the development section.
The only way I've found to root stock rom is motofail only thing out that I no of that works with. 902..however.. I am NOT on stock rom.. running th3orys .902 comparable rom.. with a installbover that..

You can download Motofail from the link in my sig below
i kind of like motoblur that's why i am choosing to stay with stock, much better over sense....and vanila isn't my thing, plus i am loving the camera. the hd looks comparible to my $60 flip and looks way better than a gopro.
of course, gopro's are designed to be mounted for sports or film angles, not really for personal home movies. (the mic sucks on them)
I liked MOTOBLUR also and was not interested in vanilla until the ICS roms came out. Now I much prefer 3x battery life over having MOTOBLUR To each their own though.

No video recording in ICS right now. Camera (back and front) works for stills, but no camcorder function. I never use it though.
I'm running stock - rooted with Launcher Pro as my launcher of choice and loving the stability and consistency of the device. I've tried various versions of Eclipse and a couple of ICS CM9 ROM's but have found my current setup to be the best of all. Waiting patiently now for the OTA ICS flash.....
I'd like to do the same to my girlfriend's Bionic, root and clean up the bloat. I have done so already on my RAZR.
At least, I want to clean up any services on her phone that could cost me extra money on my bill.

Just install the 'Onavo Count' app. You can restrict certain apps to WiFi only for data usage. It has been very enlightening for me to see my data usage breakdown per application, since Verizon does not offer that kind of granularity in the usage tracker on their website.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with stock if it works for you. If you want all the speed tweeks of a good custom rom, then get this app! It has so many init.d tweeks and really works good. Just found it a few days ago.

Looking for stock-ish ROM with better batt life

My boss is looking for better battery life since ICS. I've never used this phone before so am unexperienced with the roms available. Can anyone make a suggestion?
Phone is on Verizon.
Thanks

My old phone is the Bionic and I just loaded Synergy and it seems to be a good one. Also suggest doing the RAZR M mods....but I like those mods Cruz my new RAZR HD has the same launcher and circles widget.
Also be careful on the apps he runs, if he wants better battery make sure apps aren't syncing in the background. I've found d free apps with ads tent to keep your system awake.
