HEy guys,
i have a big problem.
after an update from CM7.1 release to cm7 nightly (later dated) cm7.1 mount my internal SD to EMMC and the EMMC (microSD Card) as SD-Card.
Is this normal?
So, at last, it will bei not soo a big problem, in case i can install more games, because i have more space.
but at the moment i have no gapps and no idea which filesystem i need for microSD.
Can anyone help me?
Or is it an easy way to modify the mount points?
greetz,
ravn
Happened to me once after a flash
I deleted the external_sd folder on External card through PC and things resolved after a reboot

HEy,
thx Jonny and Jose.
the last link is what i´m looking for.
the resault ist:
Setting -> CyanogenMod settings -> Applications -> Use internal storage
there u can switch it.
This will be a great feature. But at first, if u don´t know what happens, it is not sooo great ^^.
so, now i use my external SD (emmc) for programms and games .

Hi,
I just changed the mounting of the sdcard and emmc to be reversed. As far as I understand, the sdcard is "usually" the internal sd, and emmc is "usually" the external sd.
The biggest issue I faced was that everytime I reboot my phone, I'll have to remove and reinsert the sd card so that the sdcard is detected by the phone. After I swapped the mounting, everything went well. Is there a reason why the devs use the scheme?
Thanks
EDIT: I'm seeing this on CM nightly 204
haven't use nightly 204 but in stable CM7, there is an option called 'Use Internal Storage' under setting menu 'CyanogenMod Settings'->'Application', check it then internal sdcard would be mount as /sdcard.
Hmm... That's a good option.
Just wondering why the it is not checked by default.
I didn't have sd inserted at first, so *nothing* is working. Camera complains, installing apps failed, etc.
CyanogenMod reverses the sd and emmc mountain as the internal sd is rather small and external is typically larger. They do this since many apps do not offer a way to switch storage location. It is possible to switch them back and there is a tread on it but since I'm on mobile I really can't link to it right now.

I see, that made sense... Yes, option to swap it back is mentioned by hkkp.
But I still think it should default to sd as internal sd, emmc as external flash. Let user make the switch if they wishes to...

i use nightly 204, and didn't happen like you did. i prefer external sd card is default and internal to be external. because external sd is bigger then internal one and faster i use class 10

Odd... Must be some dirty data during flash. Could you check this out?
1. Go to Terminal / adb to the phone
2. type "cat /etc/vold.fstab" without the quotes
3. paste the output here
Could you also check if "Settings->Cyanogenmod Setting->Applications->Use Internal Storage" is checked by default?
Hi guys, i don't know if this are the right place to post my question so sorry for my probably mistake..
To return in topic. I have an O2X with cm7 and i recently got a 16GB sd card. The cm7 mounts the internal sd card as /sdcard and external sd card as /mnt/emmc.. when i install some apps or games the system use the internal memory and the internal sd card (for app's data).. I've searched on the forum but i'm not understand very well so my question is, what is the best choice of "management" of this memories?? is possible to mount external sd card ( mnt/emmc ) as sd card ( /sdcard ) and eventually don't use the internal sd or mount it as /data partition?? Thanks in advance guys
Ps: Sorry for my bad english
In CM7 you got a option in settings and cyanogenmod settings where u can switch this. Go through the menu and look. Don't remember where but it's there.
Hi there, I know that theres a lot of posts on this forum regarding this issue but i didn't find comprehensive answer to how to move Apps to an External SD card on the G Note.
I'm not an expert with Android as I am in the transition from the iPhone, but I'm not too much of a noob as I have a bit of knowledge due to hacking and jailbreaking with the iPhone.
Now here is my problem. I have a lot of Apps that are hogging my storage and I have come to a point where I cannot install anymore Apps. When I try to copy it to the external SD card (16gb Class 10), it is actually copying it to the internal SD card. I have tried all those Apps like App2SD and I still haven't had any luck. I even tried all the tutorials on this site and still no luck.
I know there are easy methods with Froyo, but I don't want to downgrade as I am currently on "ICS(4.0.4) Stunner Beta 5.0" and it runs like a dream on the Note! If worse case scenario that I have to downgrade to achieve this, the lowest I will go back to is a factory rooted Gingerbread.
Even when I was on factory rooted Gingerbread I still had this same problem before the upgrade.
Right now the only way is to edit vold.fstab file but that will cause bigger issues with ICS and Stunner in particular
Your best hope is wait for a new version of Stunner where the internal sd card is mounted @ /mnt/emmc and the external sd card is mounted @ /mnt/sdcard and that should solve your issues completely
I read Neo talking about it and I think he will implement this structure in the next release
Thanks for the quick reply! Thats great news.. If i have to wait for a Stunner update, is there another ICS or Gingerbread release or tweak that could fix this?

I have micromax funbook with ICS 4.0.3..in my tablet internal sd card is mounted @ /mnt/sdcard and the external sd card is mounted @ /mnt/extsd - Even I need a solution as most HD games are huge and its usable internal memory is only around 2gb.
In my friends Samsung Galaxy S external sd card was mounted as "sd card" and we were able to move installed apps to 16gb memory card need this fix.

Try searching re-partitioning your internal memory. It increases your current 2 GB Max internal memory to 4-6-8-10 GB by reducing your internal sd card. This way you can install many apps without having to move it here n there. thread is by @metalgearhathaway.
A problem
Actually, i modified the vold.fstab file and partially bricked my tablet. It gets stuck on the booting logo and recovery console seems to be useless because the wipe data/factory reset option doesn't work. It's an A23 based 7 inch tablet for which i'm unable to find a ROM to flash it with. Any help would be appreciated. Or is there any way to re-modify the vold.fstab file to the old state? Or to reset the ROM?
Hi guys, I have the following issue. I installed a SD card but when plug-in it to my computer only the internal SD would show ( I was expecting both ), then I went to Storage on the phone and it was showing there, so I chose format in case that cuold help but now it's gone from there too
Anyway, since I can't seem to fix that for now, can I copy a rom into the internal SD and flash it? I don't know if CWM will be able to search there or if a certain wipe will format my internal SD.
Help would'be much appreciated.
recent versions of CWM have an option in the zip-flashing menu for flashing from internal storage.
I created a folder named CM in th internal sd and flash everything from there. Just remember the folder and you can moce item with root broswer or directly download there. In my case /mnt/sdcard/cm

I was on stock froyo V10a, anyway after a couples of tries a notification that the sd card was corrupted popped and gave me the option to format it once again, this time it worked.
So solved, thanks guys.
More comments on my new little issue would be much appreciated
Ummm
Hello guys, I have installed CM 7.2 (stable version) (a couple of times now -_-) the bad thing is that it will not read my internal memory card and the data on it.
When I mount via cwm, it shows both my internal card and the external sd card.
I have tried going to the emmc folder, it is empty when I use file manager of cm7. But when I go to emmc via cwm, there are all the files which are in my internal card.
sorry for bad english, please help
