My non-rooted phone was having trouble with the audio. Verizon sent me a new phone. I then rooted my 'old' Motorola Droid 3 using Pete's Motorola Root Tools. Worked great. I did a full backup.
I now have the new phone. I rooted it successfully. I tried to run the "Pete's Motorola Root Tools.exe" (which I also used to root the phone). I click on the "restore my /system/app" button on the window on my computer. I get an error:
ERROR: /restore/ backup doesn't exist or is incomplete!
These files must be downloaded and saved to your computer in a /restore/ subfolder
You can download the /system/app/ files you need here:
Version 5.5.959: download here
Version 5.6.890: download here
when it says 'download here', there is no link.
How do I get past this error and successfully restore my new phone?
Im having the same problem
What did you make your backup with? Restore /system/app just restores the stock apps ie any bloat you've removed. If you're trying to backup one phone in order to restore it to the new one you need to use CWrecovery

Okay so I got a droid3 that shut off when i used the slider so I was expecting a new droid3 and thought id take a chance bricking a phone i was gonna send back via fedex anyways.
I rooted the first phone and got titanium backup (free)
I couldn't freeze anything with the free version so I wanted to see if i could delete things I wasn't usually allowed to, BYE BYE BLOCKBUSTER
my new phone is here and I already used the old phone to find what apps i like n wahtnot
before I send the 1st phone back I am trying to put the blockbuster back.
I thought I could back it up with titaniumBU on the new phone and restore it on the 1st D3.... It doesn't seem to be working.
does anyone know how I can restore the blockbuster in the system, I can't even figure out what folder it's suppose to be in or I'd just copy and paste it (if that even works)

The guy has a link to where to download the system/app folder, you can take that apk and follow the instructions he has. Should work
i got the back up so i can use the "petes motorola root" tool
it has an unroot option and i downloaded the system restore but it says i have to save it in a certain file on my computer. /restore/ subfolder
where do i have to save this restore folder and do i just name the subfolder "subfolder" im so confused.
Make a folder called restore in the folder your root tools is in, and copy the contents of the dump's system/app directory into that folder
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Wow, I knew it was something simple. I can't believe that's not the first thing I tried
Here is a Dump from the System Apps for those who accidentally deleted some of them and can't update to OTA2. I deleted some apps, you won't need for OTA2 to make the package smaller.
Remember before updating to OTA2 to protect your superuser by downloading and applying OTA root keeper.
After the update you have to download Superuser then just reactivate root by using ota root keeper.
PW for the archive is:
tptsystemappsdump
When I rooted ,I backup and delete some some flexT9 input file, then I find out I can not recive SMS after root .
So I unroot ,now I get OTA update but it's says error about I miss some flexT9 file.I can not restore file without root.
Now I can never root again ,and I can not even UPDATE OTA because system fille ar change.
What can I do NOW ?
My TPT is rooted (Titanium Backup shows it as rooted and RomManager also) but when I try to reinstall the Browser App it says could not install the app. Also Insallation via adb didn't work.
Can I somehow copy the files manually and what files need to be copied?
Thank you for this, one of our tablets unistalled the lenovo app market while trying to update itself, only want this for the notesmobile update but your dump helped greatly and meant i didn't have to faf about pulling it from my tpt
@Atom2007:
you will have to put the Browser.apk and Browser.odex into /system/apps with i.e. Root Explorer.

I used to be on stock gb rom and rooted, then i flashed to stock ics rom through pc odin. However after being on ics rom i can't install titanium backup, it says device memory low or full, but i still have about 1gb of free space. All other apps would install without a hitch except titanium backup. Can someone please help?
First you should post exactly what rom you flashed and if you followed instructions if you rooted etc etc etc.
then maybe people can help you better.
- compumasterpr already mentioned it and you’re probably aware of it, anyway, TB of course needs root permissions
- TB stores the backups in /sdcard/TitaniumBackup, so you can copy this directory manually for safety’s sake
- delete /sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup if it exists
- clear data of TB in settings-> applications
- if that still doesn’t help, have a look here:

http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb
When i flashed my Note from gb to ics i also lost root. So i think you should re root it
i already re rooted thru cmw.
update: i read somewhere here that i need to delete a file associated with TB, what i did was installed es file explorer to go thru the system files and deleted the so called file in sys/apps. that seem to did the trick as i can install TB.

Hi guys,
so I'm trying to backup and restore all my apps+data from my Defy (with root) to my Razr I JB (without root, locked BL)
Since Titanium Backup doesn't work without root, I installed Helium on both of my phones.
Now backing up works fine on my defy, also verifying it by deinstalling an app with tianium backup afterwards and restoring the app+data via helium gives me the app+data again.
Now when I try to restore my app+data on my Razr I it only restores the app, but not the data.
I also tried to use the manual way via adb backup and adb restore as posted here:
https://plus.google.com/+RichHyndman/posts/b9ejZegfw8p
but no luck, the backup works fine again, but when restored to the Razr I, no data is included.
What can I do?
I don't really care about most of the apps, but I do need some app data for certain apps that I don't want to lose..

Not possible, only if rooted.
(Only way known is using Helium, but that won't work in stock motorola roms)

or that? http://www.android-hilfe.de/android...root-durchfuehren-per-adb-ab-android-4-x.html
but no guarantee that it will work. There seems to be issus with motorola-devices. for me it didn't worked, but for other razr i owner it worked fine

thx for that link, but already tried to backup it up via adb package name....
How about, another way.
Could I pull the app data via adb pull and then push it on my Razr I via adb push? Would that work?

is it also possible to pull/push an entire folder or do I have to push every file by itself?
What I did now is that I copied the app-data from my old phone with the root explorer to my sdcard, now I want to push it to my Razr I, but I only get permission denied. I thought adb commands are always under root? Or do I have to mount anything?
This is what I tried:
adb push 1.txt /data/user/0/com.xxxxxxxxx/database/1.txt
Hey guys,
just giving an update on that issue.
So we all now that adb backup and adb restore works on all phones starting Android 4.x but not on Motorola's phone.
So I wrote couple emails with the Motorola support back and forth and sent them a detailed description of the bug.
They forwarded it to the dev team and hopefully this will be fixed in the next update.
Hi, (newbie here and would appreciate if you guys explain every step, detail)
I've recently installed titanium backup (free) and nandroid on my Xperia Z1 from play store, My phone is rooted, have unlocked bootloader. Also NDR utils from dualrecovery is installed. Now im gonna install a custom rom. Before that i want to get backups both my whole system (in case of soft bricking) and my apps+data. I did titanium backup and when i searched it from "File Manager (apk)", couldn't find it. But i was able to see that backup via "Root Explorer", it was placed in "emulated/legacy/titanium backup". Same issue with nandroid too. Then i changed the backup folder of titanium backup to "internal memory/downloads". After the backup is finished, checked the folder via Root Explorer, there was no problem. But still cant see the backup on my computer or File Manager. I want to copy my backups to pc (i have sony pc companion, google usb drivers, adb drivers installed on my pc). But cant find my backups via windows explorer (im using windows 7 ultimate).
I heard using cmd can fix this.
adb pull /sdcard/titaniumbackup c:/TitaniumBackup (the code was like that)
Although i dont know how to use cmd properly and if there is another solution that i can manually select those backup files and copy paste in my documents on pc, i'd highly prefer that one.
By the way lots of files that i can see by rootexplorer, cannot be seen from my computer. Is this normal?
Xperia Z1
4.4.4

Thanks in advance...
