was running HSPL10.95.3000 and decided to flash 1.33.2005 but now im having problems.
installed new spl on sd card, renamed it to update. entered recovery mode and alt+s it and after it was done i did the reboot and now its stuck on the g1 screen.
any suggestions?
ok so i turned off the g1 and tried installing the spl again, alt+s, it was done. rebooted, now its on recovery mode and its saying :Formatting Cache:...
Haykuro's new spl
My phone is doing the exact same thing... If only I read the comments on that how to get root partition sd in the console and install the jachero 2.63 maybe I woulda known this would happen... How to restore? I used nandroid backup but it isn't working...
yeah, trying to restore but not looking good lol
hope i didn't brick my g1
did you install the radio first? Do you have a DVT or PVT device? If you have DVT or didn't flash the radio first, your phone is bricked...
If you can access recovery, then your device is not bricked, try booting into the bootloader (Camera + Power). If the SPL is the new one, try flashing a new ROM, if its the old one, try re-flashing the SPL.

<BACK> FastBoot Mode.
like i said befor i try to do a restore but it keeps looping, how can I install a new rom?
now if i hit the back key it highlites the "FASTBOOT" and says this:
<camera step2> HBoot Mode
<send> Reset Device
<action> Restart to HBoot
<menu> Power Down.
I really dont wanna "F" up my g1 lol
Go ahead and boot into recovery (Home + Power), then just flash a ROM of your choice.
how do i flash a new rom from the recovery? how do i open up my memory card?
i try to reboot my g1 from there and it loops at the g1 screen then it opens up recovery again. Do i need to get me a card reader to install the rom?
Alrite listen up. Turn off your phone (pull battery out). BOot into recovery (YOU DO!?! have cyanogen's recovery RIGHT?!?!!) and go into console. Connect your usb and type ums_enable
Now you should be able to copy a ROM onto your sdcard. Once its copied to your sdcard, type ums_disable in the recovery console to unmount your sdcard. Remove the usb cable, type reboot recovery and just wipe and flash
try adb

There r two ways u can flash without a cardreader one is to put the sd from Ur g1 into anybody fone and once the file is on the card put it back in the g1 got to recovery and flash. Or anybody option is to do a adv push it the file to Ur sd.
Easy solutions. Put rom on sdcard either thru recovery like another poster said or in a card reader then update again.
sorry for not replying after my last post but i had to fly out of the house since i was getting late for work
sucks to be without a phone for a day lol
after work i went to frys and bought me a $3 micro usb reader and just got home and installed cms rom and its loading up right now. I'll let you know how it goes.
ok a update on my situation.
went to recovery and flashed cm's newest rom and now everything seems its back to normal. gonna reflash cm's recovery and backup now. thanks for all the info guys!
no problem, if you do happen to fix your phone, could you change the title to add [SOLVED] so that others who have the same problem can come here and find the solution?
OK, to keep things short: Tried flashing a new firmware rom, wouldn't work, kept rebooting (tried multiple times and yes I did wipe and everything). Tried to flash a new recovery rom so I could try flashing the firmware again. It said everything went correctly, except it decided to delete my recovery and not flash the new one. So what I'm left with is no firmware, no recovery, and a bootloader/fastboot that wont allow my usb to be recognized. Anything I can do?

So when turn your phone on, what does the screen show? Is the screen white or does it show the triangle box and phone? If you can get into fastboot you should be able to flash from your SD card if you can get ahold of a properly signed update.zip. Need some more information to help.
If I boot the phone regularly it will keep booting the HTC screen, but yes, I can boot into fastboot but my computer won't recognize the USB.
You probably flashed an overclocked recovery and rom and your phone can't do it. Try clockwork 2501 and then your rom and gapps and a capped 691 kernel. Are you trying to get gingerbread? If you try these steps and it still won't work got to the live help link in the GB thread.

I tried to flash the clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5 and the new gingerbread aospCMod. The problem is that I cant get my phone to show up on the computer through the USB so I can't really flash anything or put anything on the sd card.

Hello All,
I believe my phone is either semi-bricked or completely bricked. I was in the process of wiping my system to load a custom ROM when I accidentally pressed the trackball and selected 'Reboot Recovery' in Recovery mode:
1. Wipe Data/Factory Rest
2. Format Cache
3. Format Boot
4. Format System
5. Format Cache
6. Format Data
7. Format Recovery
8. Wipe Dalvik
9. Reboot Recovery [WHOOPS!!!!!!]
Now my system is stuck when it boots up normally on the HTC screen. Attempting to go to Recovery by holding down the DOWN VOLUME provides me the menu:
- Vol Up - FastBoot Mode
- Back - Simlock
- Home - Recovery
With the following information displayed:
HERC XC SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.47.0000 (HERO200000)
MICROP-0110
TOUCHE PANEL-SYN0104
RADIO-2.42.02.10.29
Mar 1 2010, 16:02:39
HBOOT
Selecting Recovery sends me to the HTC screen with the FastBoot USB text displayed and it just sits there. I am not able to recognize the device via the ADB console nor HTC Sync.
Any ideas how to get thru this? The recovery.img is on the SDCard and all, I just can't get the phone access and load it into the system memory?
Thanks in advance,
GP
are you using CW or Amon?
well regardless what recovery youre usinghaha, you need to plug your phone in your pc (charge only) and boot into recovery and mount your sd card in recovery, i forgot what thats under, but find and and click it and should pop up on your pc with your open files option, put the rom of your choice on the sd card, unmount the sd card through recovery, reboot back to recovery, wipe again and install the rom, and that should do it.
pm me if you need more =]
Unfortunately that is the problem, I cannot get into the Recovery to see all the standard menu options to even select and mount the SD Card.
I am stuck at the menu showing only these 3 options:
> Vol Up - FastBoot Mode
> Back - Simlock
> Home - Recovery
Selecting Recovery locks up displaying FastBoot USB.

Go in to Fastboot USB mode & Re-Flash recovery using ADB. Then reboot recovery & you should get back in.
Or search for a HERCIMG.zip that has the recovery you want. Save to SD root & go in to HBOOT it should see the HERCIMG & ask you to apply the update.

Yeah what he said, only since your bootloader is s-on you can't use fastboot or hercimg.zip. You need to flash a recovery from adb. For future reference the part you messed up was when you formatted boot/system/recovery - those are unnecessary when flashing a new ROM. The reason your phone is mad is you took EVERYTHING away from it and didn't replace it with something, so in a way, yes reboot recovery is where you messed up. But it would've been the same if you rebooted the phone too, cuz well, you don't have a phone, you wiped it. It's an easy fix, and once you get a new recovery you can resume whatever, flashing a rom, restoring a nand, etc.
EDIT: just saw you can't get adb.... try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958968
off topic, but when and why would you format anything (boot, data system, cache)
besides using Firerats

Well, because phone cleanliness is important. FYI "wipe" and "format" are the same thing. Depending on what you're doing, you may want to wipe certain things individually. Cache and Dalvik Cache should be wiped every you flash a new version/release of your current ROM or a new kernel. Sometimes wiping those two can help if you're having weird issues. Data should be wiped if you're trying a new/different ROM. System and boot get wiped by a ROM flash automatically. It really depends on what you're doing, but wiping/formatting is needed.
sweet thinks for the info..\hey if you can, could you look to my other issue im having?
its in q and a and called adb shell... $?
Thanks everyone for your help! I finally gave in and did what I should have done initially...I went to the HTC website and downloaded the 2.1 RUU update and just ran that. Now I am able to get the phone operating like new!
HTC HERO (SPRINT) 2.1 SOFTWARE UPDATE | 05.19.2010
HTC Hero CDMA 2.1 RUU
I'm still curious though how come all the recovery images I was trying to load using fastboot kept failing due to data length too long or there were too many links.
Anyhow, all is fine now. Thanks again everyone and for those who have a similar issue if you spend more than a few days and can't figure how to unbrick your soft bricked phones just install the original RUU or grab the latest one from HTC and you should be able to get back on your feet again.
-GP
hey what ruu did you run? im trying to downgrade
I used the 2.1 RUU from HTC's website for Sprint Hero CDMA.
Then I ran the auto rooter from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909258
If you are trying to downgrade I believe you just grab a 1.5 recovery image and clean your system and load it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=CDMA_Hero_ROMs
If that does not work, at your own risk do all your standard backups and wipe your system then grab the 1.5 RUU (RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_1.56.651.2 signed release.exe) from geekfor.me and run it. I'm only guessing that was going to be my last resort if I hadn't been able to root my 2.1 installation.

yeah you cant root 2.1 with a certain update do it, so im trying to downgrade so i can! haha
i wanted to flash from gingerbread to miui
so i read i had to wipe my cache and i did
i wiped
*Cache
*DevCache
*SD:ext
*battery status
well you guy know the wipe menu on rooted phones so yeah
after i did that i reboot my phone
plug it to my mac and try mounting it
and it dint work my nexus said unable to mount sd card
so i cant flash a diferent rom
now in addition to that ever since that my phone on boot screen where the lock icon apears it gets this green pixel like rain and then it goes away and boots up then it takes me to the welcome screen but im unable to get response from the screen only track ball and buttons work
so yeah if some can guide me trough some advice how to fix this ill apreciate ask for more info if willing to help
you could try mounting sd somewhere else like on a card reader getting a rom u know works wiping everything and then flashing that rom onto your phone
Wo this is a weird problem.
Ok well the first thing is what can you boot into (ex: hboot, fasboot, recovery, system) and does either adb or fastboot connect or are all the connections to the MAC dead?
Do you have a card reader that you can transfer a zip onto the SD card with? What custom recovery are you using.
EDIT: Do you have a nandroid?

When i was stuck in that screen the only way i found to get out of it was to remove the back cover and disconnect the battery
I have the same problem
-I have rooted my htc mini2 and after a while decided to restore the original ROM but everytime i turn on the phone i have that red warning message.
One day i decided to delete de TWRP backup files bacause it takes a lot of space on my internal memory .
Yesterday my baterry died so when i was turning my phone it gets stuck on that message screen . So i can't get through because on my internal memory i don't have the TWRP files to backup or get into recovery mode.
Is there any solution? i was thinking about putting those files on my sd card and see if the phone will read them?

No, not possible from SDCard alone, you have to flash TWRP by placing TWRP in PC ADB folder (ADB must be installed in PC and device should be able to enter bootloader and fastboot) and entering bootloader>fastboot on device, then connect device to PC, this only works on unlocked devices.
Command is :
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot erase cache

Hey, i had the same issue. After rooting my phone, when my phone died because of the low battery, the same thing happened to me.
The solution is pretty simple, actually - you have to restart the charging unit of your phone.
So what you gotta do is this:
leave it to charge a couple of minutes (so it will have enough power to boot again) and then just press all the buttons of your phone at the same time and hold it for up to 10 seconds, so power button + volume up + volume down.
This will restart your charging unit and it will get your phone to boot normally again. :fingers-crossed:
I don't know why this keeps happening, but I have to do it all the time, if my phone dies. So I try to make sure it has enough battary not to die, because it is just annoying.
i have the same problem. if you hold the power button + volume up you can reboot your phone if it is frozen.

the trick is to keep hold of power vol up & vol down for 2 mins,it will boot, reboot, boot, reboot loads of times, keep hold for at least 2 mins, once you let go it resets itself:good:
make sure you have a some means of installing Android back onto your phone placed on your SD card or internal storage
I recommend updating to the latest version of twrp before trying these (I used 3.0.2.0)
twrp>wipe>advanced wipe>select everything but: "/Micro SDCard" "/Internal Storage" "SD-EXT" and "USB-OTG
after that install Android by restoring from a recovery backup or instal a custom rom onto your device (whatever floats your boat)
