When I try and start the 3g Mobile hotspot app, it puts the green symbol up in the notification bar like its running, though the enabled checkbox unchecks itself, and it says Error. At this point you cannot make the notification that its running go away without restarting the phone. I SBF'd it, making sure it wasnt that. Still does it. Any suggestions before I take it back to big red? Running the .890, stock odexed rom. And Like I said, even after SBFing, same results.
Thanks in advanced!
Did you do the TBH wifi hack and mess it up?
Its been a problem since I got this replacement phone from Verizon. I did the tether hack successfully before, and made a nandroid backup. When I restored it on this phone, I finally tried it one day and it wouldn't work. So I sbf'd a couple times and still get the error. After you sbf you would have to redo the tether hack anyway. So in short, even with no mods it still says error. Im guessing its hardware at this point. Was just hoping there was something stupid I could look at.
You can't backup the radio portion with a nandroid backup. You have to do the radio hack on the replacement phone. A restore isn't possible.
Either way, you should be able to enable the hotspot. The phone actually says error.

Sounds like you need to return it, if you SBF'ed and it's still messed up there isn't anything you can do. Something probably went haywire in the radio itself.

This icon/notification is permanently on my phone, I believe it's something to do with my sim card (I live in New Zealand) and I desperately want to get rid of it, it's such a waste of space. Has anyone seen this before? know what it means? or best of all how to get rid of it?

I used titanium backup to uninstall an application built into my phone called Sim Toolkit, this application just had some random my vodafone crap in it. As soon as I uninstalled this the notification is gone & so far I can't really see any bad side effects...? One thing I've noticed is 3G is staying on even though my Wifi is connected which it didn't normally do. Is there anything else I should know about? Is this an important app that I should restore? Do you have it on your phones?
I don't have it on my phone but I think an app like that may have some important function. If you can still get data, make phone calls, and text then you are good to go, but generally apps involving a sim card can be touchy to deal with.

Okay well everything seems to be working well apart from my 3G stayed on white Wifi is connected... I'm thinking this is going to be a waste of battery so can anybody recommend the best way to automatically disable 3G when I am connected to a Wifi network?
Hi,
When I go to mms options, I can't seem to change mms sending limit, it's just blank and has no options to change (it should have 300K for my provider).
I'm using energy rom titanium, can anyone help me with this.
When I try to send a test message, it says "Your message of 75K exceeds the sending limit of 0K. Please remove some content and try again"
TIA
EDIT: a picture says more than a thousand words or something like that

Have you tried a reflash? It looks like you are missing three values that come pre-populated for me. I am using the ROM in my sig/signature; it is for the GSM version for TP/RAPH.
Do you mean a hard reset?
I was hoping to avoid that, since I just had my device configured as I wanted again (except for the mms obviously).
I guess hard reset would work(perhaps, in some cases) but I was actually saying to re-flash(flash again) your device. If you do a lot of flashing from other ROMS, it's possible that you have residual data left over from another ROM. Not saying that is the only way to "fix" your device but it would probably be the fastest(again, perhaps?). Not sure if you like mucking around in the registry but I do suppose that would be still, another option. You could also wait for other answers to come available...
Well, this is my third rom... so not really a lot of flashing.
Thanks for the answer, still hoping for another solution, but it's not really urgent anymore, so I'll just wait till I really need it or have to reflash anyway
I have a rooted HTC One, and I've been running Viper Rom for months. I recently tried to flash the Stable CM10.1.3. When it booted I had lost Phone/Mobile Data. I tried to restore the data, but nothing worked, so I nandroid'd back to Sense.
I still don't have data. My 4G works, but I cannot make calls or text.
Am I correct in understanding that I need to achieve S-Off and flash a radio? Ideally, I'd like to have CM10.1 running on my device with data back. How can I achieve this?

Sounds like you flashed a non Sprint version of CM
PM me I can help you fix it
or you changed your CDMA Subscription status in CM10 from NV to RUSIM
flash back to CM10 and check that. happened to me once
I fixed the signal issue. Here's what I did.
Other thread
I flashed a CM Rom and confirmed that I was on NV not SIM per that thread linked above. I was already on NV so that wasn't the problem. On the CM rom, I typed *#*#4636#*#* and I changed the network from unknown to CDMA/LTE. I tried to make a test call, and it said my phone wasn't active. Awesome sign!
At this point I restored my Sense nandroid. I ran Activate Phone from the menu, and then made another test call. Mission Accomplished.
To make a long story short, a relative bought a phone off ebay that was in Retail/Demo mode and I was tasked with trying to get it out of that state by flashing a different stock ROM onto it. I used to have absolutely no issue before with older phones, but, after a few softboots with no success, I've eventually ended up reaching this far in nuking the phone, and even the IMEI in download mode is showing a 0 (though I'm not sure if that wasn't always like that).
From what I've seen the phone is certainly the Snapdragon variant, and yet there was no way to activate OEM unlocking within the phone. I know this situation is rather insane and I could be SOL but here's to hoping someone could point me in a direction to help fix this thing. I haven't tried flashing the unofficial TWRP in fear that it's going to screw over my recovery (in which I forgot to mention it works perfectly fine at the moment). Alongside with the security error, I have the secure check fail with modem displaying as well. Is there a certain ROM version that might help? I've attached a screenshot that I took right before I fell into the abyss, so hopefully that'll help (unless you can't see it out of me being new). Thanks for any replies in advance.

I started to get this error message after flashing the boot partition. All connections stopped working. I reflashed with original boot partition, which results in wifi working again, but bluetooth is dtill refusing to work. Do I factory reset? I have a file that is important but wont come off because it keeps freezing during transfer process
Search for 'Reset options' and reset wifi/mobile/bluetooth, see if that does the trick.

I've also done that. The phone I tried to root is a Z3551S (came from QLink Wireless, running android 9 and has a ****ton of bloat), which doesn't have ramdisk, or a separate VBMeta partition. Also, the images are from some other source. And when I flashed with the rooted partition, Magisk showed the phone was rooted, and I could view files I couldn't view before, but I couldn't uninstall apps with another root application, so I don't think it was fully rooted. I'm also beginning to think that I may need to flash all of the files, because they might not be the same.

Can't do that either. I tried before flashing the before-modified boot image, but I don't think the phone was properly rooted
Here is the message that I get. Clicking `ok` just takes me to settings

An update: the wifi DOES NOT turn on, and SDCards are not being mounted either. Ima try flashing the boot.img to boot instead of boot_verified.img to boot
