[Q] htc tilt 8925 not connecting to wifi - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

hi,
I'm used to connect wifi earlier, but now I can't connect to the same wifi router. The router settings didn't changed. In Settings-connections tab-connections, the network selected is my service providers ISP name and the proxy settings tab conatains the connect to internet option checked and proxy settings unchecked. Please tell someone why wifi is not coonecting.

Try to delete setings for that network and try reconecting. ?

T-Mobile MDA WiFi vs. GPRS data plan settings

I have been reading WiFi threads on here for hours but can't seem to find the right answer.
I have a WiFi network at home that I can connect to when enabling Wi-Fi through the Comm Manager. My Wizard is running Xelencin's T-Mobile USA 2.26 Custom ROM (Wizard/MDA).
The problem is, when I'm at home and fire up Pocket IE, the phone tries to connect using GPRS rather than my WiFi connection. What I want is for Pocket IE to use WiFi when I'm connected to WiFi, and GPRS at other times.
Many posts reference going to Start > Settings >Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks, and changing the settings for "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet..." to either "My ISP" or "My Work Network".
I have 4 items listed in these drop-downs:
My ISP
T-Mobile Data
T-Mobile MMS
My Work Network
When I look at the settings for "My ISP" there is one connection defined called "T-Mobile WModem Link" that is set to use the modem "Cellular Line (GPRS) and access point name "wap.voicestream.com"
The settings for "My Work Network" don't show a connection listed at all. If I create a new one, my options for selecting a "modem" are:
Bluetooth
Cellular Line
Cellular Line (GPRS)
Generic IrDA
Hayes Compatible on COM1:
None of these seems to be right for a WiFi connection.
The settings for "T-Mobile Data" are the same as the settings for My ISP except the connection is called "T-Mobile Data"
The settings for "T-Mobile MMS" are also the same (GPRS and wap.voicestream.com).
It seems like T-Mobile is blocking me from using Wi-Fi as the default internet connection. I really like this ROM and would prefer not to change it. Can anyone help?
with my Wizard as long as i'm connected to a wifi network (and i have an IP address and gateway from that network) it will browse with it... only when i'm not on any network connected to the internet (including via USB Active sync) does it connect using gprs. The "My ISP" conenction is configured for my GPRS Network.
Somehting i can suggest is that you open Network Adapters, select your WLAN Wireless Adapter and choose "this network card connect me to The Internet"
good luck!
PS make sure the wifi network your conecting has a shared internet connection... if its not shared your phone will use GPRS even if its connected.

I have no problem browsing with Wifi. My wireless connection isnt the issue. My problem is not being able to make Wi-Fi, my default internet connection.
I think this works
I think this is the thread that solved it for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261438&highlight=internet+wifi+gprs
To be fair, I usually have to try a couple of settings to get it to work automatically, but eventually I do.
No luck for me. I think I'm just going to have to learn how to cook a custom extended rom without the "T-Mobile_Network_Customizations.cab", and then hard reset. Is there a simple way to delete that cab file from the extended rom and also make that change to the "Config.txt" file (in the extended rom)? Anytime I try making changes to the extended rom via Total Commander, all the files in the extended rom end up looking garbled.

WiFi Proxy on the TyTN 2?

Hi there,
I am new here but I am not new to forums so am a semi-n00b!! I have been searching around for an answer and there seem to be lots of people asking the question but no answers to it...
Is it possible to set up a WiFi proxy on the TyTN 2? I know it is possible to set up a proxy for gprs etc etc but there are no options for a proxy on WiFi. My school uses a proxy but I cannot find the options anywhere to allow me to configure the phone to do it!
Anyone got the answer to this annoying issue?
Thanks,
Will
Yes - in wifi settings, change the network adapter to connect to "work", then in connection settings, set "network that connects a pirvate network" to connect to work and edit work to add the proxy
I have changed the network adapter to work (settings > connections > wifi > network adapters) but when you say connection settings do you mean settings > connections > connections? as in this I do not see any options to connect it to work.. Or am I missing something obvious?
Does it make a difference that this is the Vodafone V1615?
Thanks,
Will
I have the same question. In the settings to set up the proxy, you have to choose Bluetooth, Cellular Line, Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G), or Hayes Compatible on COM1. Then it wants you to enter a phone number.
If I change the Wifi settings to connect to work it stops working.
oh, if I put cellular line it lets me put in the info. I think that might have worked. I will have to try it when I am connected at home. Now, is there any way to use the proxy just for email? I.e. I have to be connected via a VPN to my school in order to get my email on thunderbird.
Bumping up an old topic but my work LAN connects through a proxy server and I can't seem to get it to work.
I added the proxy info under "Work" for my Connection settings and in "WIFI", I chose "connects to Work" but it still doesn't allow me to access the internet.

WiFi and GPRS conflict on my Tytn II I need Help

I am no longer able to connect to the Internet via my home WiFi network. I am able to WiFi connect to the network without any problems, but when I try to use any application that accesses the Internet the phone looks for a GRPS connection. I do not have a data account attached to my sim as I live in Australia, and as far as that sort of thing go, we are a backwater…
The WiFi connection and access was previously working fine until I tried to disable the GPRS from trying to connect, as this would routinely bring up messages informing me that a GPRS connection could not be made. I do not know what settings I have changed but I cannot seem to reverse the situation.
I have soft reset a number of times, I have re-run the connection wizard, etc my current settings are as follows:
WiFi:
Wireless
Configure Wireless Networks –
.MyWirelessNetwork Connected
Configure Wireless Network-
Network Name: MyWirelessNetwork
Connects By: The Internet
This is a hidden network: unchecked
Configure Wireless Authentication-
Authentication: Open

Network Key: **********
Key Index: 1
Configure Network Authentication-

Enter a name for the connection: Vodafone Internet
Select a Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
* no user name or password, because I don't have the service
Proxy Settings-
The network connects to the internet: checked
This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet: unchecked
My Work Network
No connections have been set up here
Advanced
Select Networks
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: Vodafone Internet Settings
Programs that automatically connect to a Private network should connect using: My Work Network
GPRS Settings:

I do not know if this is all the info need to sort this out, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done allot of customising and I really don't want to have to a Hard Reset. I can connect through all applications, if I am connected by USB.
Thanks
First you need to make sure your connection is set to use My Work Network as first priority. Next you need to make sure that the WiFi connection connects to WORK NOT the INTERNET. probably your problem, did the same thing on my 8125

Hi there,
Can someone please help by advising me on how to overcome this problem.
If I broadcast my SSID, the device connects fine, but when I stop broadcasting, the device will show that the network is unavailable. I did check the "This is a hidden network" checkbox option, in the settings.
Configure Wireless Network-
Network Name: MyWirelessNetwork
Connects By: Work
This is a hidden network: CHECKED
Configure Wireless Authentication-
Authentication: Open
Data Encryption: WPA2-PSK
The Key is Automatically Provided: unchecked
Network Key: **********
Key Index: 1
Please help,... many thanks!
Kind regards,
JonD
My device is the HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) running Windows Mobile 6 Professional

Wifi virus?

When I turn on wifi it's starting to try connecting with the network called bilfinger. It's doing that everywhere I am.
It can't make that connection, but because of that I can't make whatever other connection.
How can I remove bilfinger as a provider / wireless network?
Thanks,
R.
It has connected to an 'ad-hoc' or 'device to device' network,
Each system in this network is a access point and a client ... so I you join such a network and save the settings you may automatically connect to it whenever you have not opted to connect to any other network.
You can connected to this network, because you are broadcasting this network.
to remedy you problem you need to remove the stored settings for the wireless network in Settings > Connections > WiFi

Connecting to ADSL Modem using WiFi

Hi,
I have ADSL modem, and I am trying to connect to the modem (via WiFi) and use internet on my HTC VIVA.
My internet connection requires authentication in order to connect. I can successfully connect to modem using Wifi connection. In order to connection to Internet, I added new VPN server from settings > Connections > Edit my VPN servers. I added all the credentials as provided by my ISP, however I am not able to connect to internet and access web pages from the Internet explorer of my device.
Please help me and let me know where I am going wrong?
Thanks,
You don't have to set your authentication data in your Viva.
All you need to do is connect to your ADSL modem using WiFi and start browsing the web. It should work correctly unless your ISP requires a proxy server.
Tell us what happens.
Hi GFX,
Thanks for replying. I connected to ADSL using WiFi, but when I open Internet explorer I get page not found.
When I was in US, I was able to access Internet as per your reply. But now I am in India and I am not able to access Internet.
Some of the differences that might help you or any other who would like to contribute
USA India
====== =======
ISP Comcast BSNL
Authentication WPA2-PSK Open
Data Encryption AES WEP
Thanks,
I'm not sure what's causing this.
Probably your ISP requires a proxy server. Can you connect to the internet using your PC??
The other thing is, your ISP has nothing to do with your ADSL modem authentication and data encryption modes! You can set these settings manually according to your personal needs. Read your ADSL modem user manual for more information.
A WPA2 authentication is recommended so you can protect your modem & internet connection from outsiders and hackers.
Check your ISP's website to see if they require a proxy server. And tell us about your ADSL modem brand and model so we can help you.
My ISP does not require proxy server, and I can connect to Internet using my PC. I am able to connect to my ADSL modem but somehow I am not able to connect to Internet.
Following are the details of my ADSL modem
Brand: Huawei
Model: WA1003A
Its an ADSL router.
Thanks,
OK, please check the following settings in your device:
1- Goto Start-> Settings -> Connections -> Connections-> Advanced tab-> tap on "Select Networks", and check that the first dropdown menu says "My ISP".
2- Goto Start-> Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi -> Network Adapters tab, and check that the first dropdown menu says "The Internet".
If you made any changes to the above settings, try to reconnect to the modem once again, it may work this time.
However, if you left the above settings unchanged then your problem lies somewhere else. Check if you can access the internet using Opera Mini, or try connecting to another router. Because we need to determine the source of the problem.
Good luck.
have you simply tried connecting via wifi with default settings?
when you switch on wifi, once the network is detected, you can feed in the values then right? sorry if this seems like a stupid answer but we often miss whats right under our noses,
Sorry for replying so late, was busy with lots of work for some time.
GFX: My connection settings are same as you mentioned. But even with these settings in place, no success.
karthiksk: I get connected to WiFi network, but after this I don't get any popup box in my device to enter the details.
Guys, however I got the solution, since my network uses PPoE, I had to configure these settings in my Modem. Earlier I was entering ISP credentials in an external PPPoE client on my PC, this way I can access Internet with only one PC at a time and WiFi was also not working.
I entered ISP credentials in my modem and configured PPoE settings. Now I can connect my PC (using Ethernet cable), my laptop using WiFi and my HTC device using WiFi at the same time.
Thank you all for helping me in trying to resolve this issue.
Good to see your problem solved.
Turns out it has nothing to do with your device!
Enjoy your Viva, it's a wonderful device.

This is a Windows Mobile and HTC VIVA forum, it is highly unlikely that you will get your solution here. and it is unsafe to post you mobile number.
I'm facing the same problem..it's not the ISP or modem..it's only & only viva...
It sucks badly...I purchased two different modem router..one of netgaer and other one of linksys...and the didn't work on both of them...wifi only works with the modem ZTE ZXDSL 531B
**** off viva...
