It's been a long time since i used Fresh Rom but i need to update the prl. What recovery do i need?
Flash liquid sense and it will be under "about phone" in settings.
Vs Nexus S 4G
clockwork mod 2.5.0.7 should do the trick, to update prl and profile you can use liquid sense also.

I just purchased nexus one . I have been trying to root the phone and put Cyanogen recovery image 1.4 & Cyanogen 5.0.5 test3 rom.
So far i unlocked the bootloader (Says unlocked at top in fastboot now).get the little unlocked padlock every time the phone starts up
When attempting to flash the recovery image now i get: an error that says "Failed....(not allowed)". and if i retry the same command right after, it says its starting to flash but freezes. Same thing happens when trying the rom file too.
Attempting to unlock the bootloader again i get the error "... FAILED (unknown status code)".
What is going on and how can i get this to work? any help would be greatly appreciated.
CM Recovery is for the G1, not the N1.

yeah but what is the difference between the regular recovery and the cyanogen recovery? i first rooted with the standard recovery, then afterwards saw the cyanogen and flashed that recovery to my phone. things seem to still work the same, and previous nand backups can be restored via the cyanogen version. but what exactly is the difference?
i did notice that the cyanogen nand backup adds an extra file in there called "cache". what data is contained on that vs the regular recovery WITHOUT that cache file?

Again, the CM Recovery is not made for the N1, switch to the other one. Better options, newer and fixed scripts for the N1 and froyo.

Ok I'll go back to the standard recovery. But again, that link you posted specifically says nexus only only and has the cyanogen recovery for download right below the regular recovery. And the cyanogen one has more menu options than the regular recovery. So I'm confused what the difference is.
These recovery images go back to the very first custom one made for the G1/Dream - JF Recovery - by JesusFreke. Cyanogen started from that, made it better, and released it as CM Recovery. AmonRA took the CM recovery, and made it even better. The major difference is that the Amon recovery has more options, layered menus for easier navigation, and it uses new scripts for Nandroid and a2sd backup. For the moment, the only recovery images that work with Nexus One are Amon and the Clockwork recovery made by Koush. I've never used that so I don't know what's different there.
The Cache backup is essentially unnecessary because, as the name implies, it's just the volatile cache held on the partition while the phone is operational. Every time you turn the phone on and make changes, the cache changes. So you don't really need a backup for it because it can be remade when the phone turns on after restoring a backup.
Edit: That Cyanogen recovery link under the regular one is just a themed version of the AmonRa Recovery. The two are exactly the same, but the Cyan themed one has a different background and colour scheme. Just look at the two screenshots.
OK i understand, the cyanogen version is just the same thing as regular but has the cm "look" and feel to it.
Alternative CyanogenMOD version with Cyan colors and CM Logo

Exactly right.
Is it odd that my Nexus screen is still showing /!\ with the green android for 30 minutes?
Im trying the Clockwork Mod recovery using ROM Manager. I chose install custom ROM using the stock FRG83 from HTC then chose the wipe data and back up.
I'm hesitant to reboot it. Should I wait longer?
Go ahead and reboot if you were just flashing a rom or something. You only really need to worry about bricking if you're flashing a radio and it's interrupted.
Thanks. Seems like Clockwork Mod wasnt installed.
Hi,
This is my first attempt at installing a custom ROM.
I have the Sprint HTC Hero (CDMA) and I'm trying to install the latest SkyRaider 4.0 ROM.
I successfully rooted my phone, installed Busybox and ROM Manager.
I'm able to boot into recovery to delete everything and the two caches. I then attempt to install the SR zip file (in the root of my SD card) - it says that it was successful. I reboot, the HTC symbol briefly shows and then my phone crashes - it never boots past the HTC symbol.
I was able to successfully completely install CM 7.0 using the same directions; I'm not doing anything differently when I attempt to install SR.
Thanks for any help in advance...

Huh? Are you talking about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764787
Cause if so, that isn't for the Hero at all....
Hello everyone, I bought my hero on launch and used it until the 2.1 root was found.
I rooted the phone on 2.1 and installed Recovery ver: 1.5.2 and the rom the phone has is fresh hero 2.3.3(this was done before switching phones)
work asked for a blackberry and I had to retire the hero for a few months up until now.
What should I do with the phone in order to get the new roms installed? wipe it fully or unroot?
I was sort of a noob when I got the hero but I managed to root it and get the rom I wanted working, now that I've been gone I really don't remember much
any help is appreciated
fw ver: 2.1 update1
baseband 2.42.01.04.27
kernel: 2.6.29 bc0d2cff
buld: fresh rom 2.3.3 by flipz
First I would probably reacquaint yourself with the ins and outs of flashing and whatnot just to be safe.
Next I would update your recovery image. You can easily do this by downloading ROM Manager from the Market and select the Flash Recovery Image button. That will install ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.7 onto your phone.
Now that you have a newer recovery image, you want to download the ROM you want to install. Now that your ROM is downloaded and on your SD card, you want to backup any information and data you want saved. You can save app data with Titanium Backup from the Market. You may also want to enter recovery and do a nandroid just to be safe.
Now that you have your information backed up, enter your recovery and flash your new ROM. Enjoy!
I have an Old nandroid backup, stock 2.1 with just superuser, do I keep that one or wont it work with the new recovery image?
Thanks for the prompt reply
Forgot to ask, when flashing roms, do you still need to go into recovery and wipe before flashing a new rom? Thanks

Keep your nand. You can use it to update your profile/prl, and yes, you should wipe between rom flashes.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Ginger-on-Hero action here!
So I'm new to all this. I already have my phone rooted, and I have CWM on my phone. I want to flash the CM 9 onto my phone. When I attempt to install from CWM, it goes to the debug screen and says "installing apk files...done." if I select reinstall packages, it aborts installation due to a signature check fail. My Captivate's system version is 2.2. Halp?

It sounds like you don't have actual CWM, and you are trying to use stock recovery. Search the dev section for a froyo kernel that has CWM baked in. There's also one in my guide (found in my sig)
