First of all i'd like to say hello to everyone here
Now, i'll share with you my problem and hope thats somebody here knows what's the problem.. Well i installed some games in my note (n7000, the european version) then, some of them don't work properly the graphics look pretty bad or i got some parts of te screen in black and i'm worried that this could be some problems with the graphics chip... Althogh the menu of the game works properly. This happends with games like nfs hot pursuit or shadow guardian but other games like dead space which also has great graphics works excellent.
The phone is new, i bought it yesterday xD so if is there any problem with the hardware ill get it back. Thanks for reading and every little help is appreciated

looks like a major hardware issue to me.
I would update the software to the latest available (OTA / Kies). If the problem remains, send it back for a replacement.
it says i already have the latest firmware... anyway i'm doing a back up so ill restore it after that and we will see then if the problem persists...
I just did a quick check in The Market, and it shows that NFS Hot Pursuit isn't compatible with the Note. Shadow Guardian dosen't show as being available for the Note on the Gameloft site either (unless I'm missing something as I've not bought from Gameloft).
oh i was wrong it's not called shadow guardian is shadowgun XD anyway this fors example says that it is compatible with the note but doesn't work properly neither... in the asphald 6 that i downloaded when i use the nitrous boost appears some stripes but in the one downloaded in the samsung apps seems to work good but has no sound and i think it has lower quality... you may be right and to be just a problem of compatibility... so to be sure if somebody can install the same game as i installed, i'll give the link.. to tell me if it's working fine or his phone or not would be great... thanks for reading and replying to everybody and sorry for my bad english

Today at school i talket with a classmate that owns an sgs 2 and he told me that sometimes that happens in his phone too so there os no problem with the hardware it's just the game not fully compatible or something like that... I guess the thread can be closed now, thanks to everybody for the help

Agreed.. the games you are trying are tegra powered and need chainfire 3d with the nvidia plugin to run properly

My device is not rooted yet so i couldn't try the games using it...

ShadowGun and the games he has problems with is compatible with Mali-400.
If you're playing pirated games, don't be surprised if they don't work. Simple.

I feel bad about my Note in regards of gaming. My Atrix 4G have much better graphics at least on those optimized for nVidia Tegra. ShadowGun for example, on the Atrix I can see the much better shader effects like fog, dust particles, explosions, shadows and glare. The Note simply don't show any of these effects. It looks flat and lacking :-(

That's up to the developers of Shadowgun, not the Note hardware. Apparently nvidia has bribed them to only support tegra. The Note GPU is better so there's no technical reason for those effects to not work.

I have also noticed that most of the games that have good graphics are usually optimized for for the tegra devices, anyway comparing the graphics between my note playing dead space and the ps vita with the unchertd i think there is not a huge difference...
Hi guys. I bought NFS: Most Wanted recently and I'm impressed. Graphics on Tegra 3 is very good, soundtrack also good, even car can be controlled well. In any case, I have problem - game lagging heavily some times. Did you guys experienced the same with Optimus 4X HD?
This game isn't optimised for Tegra 3 devices at all, so the gameloft games aren't neither.
Pfff i bought a Tegra 3 for games and finally it's the worst processor for games...

I love nVidia, I love nVidia Tegra (I will probably buy device with Tegra 4), but game developers sucks, really. Mine Optimus 4X HD have Tegra 3, but ShadowGun THD (for Tegra 3!) laging. Nice.
..so.. anyone tried just turning off two of the four cores? I'm pretty sure the prime candidate for the problem is dynamic thread-allocation that happens to not have pre-determined run-time graphs.

If other manufacturers throw money at the devs and say 'make it run well on our hardware so we get more customers' , they will do it.

Phone does not heat a lot when I play this. Leads me to the conclusion that is not using all cores.

Rather than just wildly trying to guess - which is never a good thing - why not cough up £1.99 and install Perfmon from the Play Store, then run the CPU monitor overlay and you will see EXACTLY what your 4X is doing while the game is playing.
Why this mobile though it's tegra3 is not listed in tegra certified devices in tegrazone site
I even tried to download Dark Meadow: The Pact game from tegrazone site
But it says This app is incompatible with your LGE LG-P880.
So the question is : is that a problem in lg configuration of tegra3 because this game would run on HTC one x without problems
Or its just the game developers problem because they didnt test my mobile device so they just postpone their support for it
The other thing is in GL Benchmark 2.5 theres onscreen FSAA Test fail on P880 and works on HTC one x
they are the same , bmif you want the game, it the game developer fault for not make incompitable fir 4X not the phone

I got the game apk and sd data from internet and the game graphics works so well but i'v some problems that seems related to lake of compatiblity
With optimus ui
First the game had no exit in main menu and return button have no effect on the game so i cant exit
Second if i started playing and tried to go to main menu i can open store sub menu which include return to main menu option i can press it but it does nothing
Last i had some program which pops up messages sometimes when it did this while playing game,the game will exit directly
I'll check the game u have mentioned in my 4x but just to help you a bit I have tried Only tegra supported games and they run just fine..only issue is heating but I have heard that even HTC One X has heat problem when with ICS, to cope with this I have underclock my cpu speed to 1.2ghz and now battery backup is better too.

It seems to me that even when I've underclocked mine to only 1Ghz on 4 cores, the heating still occurs. Is there any other particular setting you have done on your device?

dark meadow will work on our phones just that it cannot be downloaded from the play store due to him not supporting our device for whatever reason, if you can edit your information (build prop i guess) or get device spoofer then try that way or search google for the apk and data file and as its free its not having to download cracked software, ive had and played a few times when using the first release of custonexus rom and was able to download from play store as it saw my phone as a htc one,but the build prop must of been edited for the new releases as it now sees it as the p880

Yes its their problem, our phone wont need a lot of work to get it fully compatible , there's just no exit even with return button
The menu buttons have some problem but it works, I might just need to press twice or pressing the menu row but not over menu text itself
Maybe this's the customization for specific device that sd data i got belongs too,
So i don't know if there's a way to change game files itself to overcome its few problems on our devices but its playable at the end
The problem return to nvidia too - it supports and develop these games with developers so it requested from them to support those devices listed on tegrazone site at least, so this game developers didn't care or know about other tegra3 devices, the point is why nvidia don't include P880 device in certified devices list -do lg took their chips and made phones without their support lol

the game obviously lags on the 4x . unfortunetly, no developer cares about the 4X, and i think we are gonna have big trouble with future games too. Its the same with the other games; only one core always active, from 700 (??) to 1500Mhz... a shame. One X does lag like the 4X as i've seen at youtube

Yes it also lagged for me really bad, and I was kind a sad from it, cause this was the game I was looking for. But after a small search here on the forums I managed to solve it somehow and make it playeble check this link and the first post on this page:

theres a solution. It works perfectly fine for me now. If you have a rooted phone, tweak with the cpu speed and governors. The game works perfectly fine after that. However, the phone heats up and battery drains quickly.

Doing this and changing the governor to performance makes the game much smoother.
Try LG Gearbox. Set "Active Cores" to 1.

It will run without any lags but with low graphic details (which can not be noticed really)
Be aware that, setting active cores other than 4 with LG Gearbox, sometimes makes your phone freeze or restart.

this method worked fine for me. Originaly, the game setups our device on high or mid. I changed to low and now its not lagging and the graphics are still cool.
I didn't change any detail settings.I used No frill cpu to set the cpu to performance and the game runs fine.
I also tried "No frills cpu" with the "performance" option and saw that the game can be played without any problems.

After exiting the game i set the governor to conservative.I launched the game without changing it at all , In some scenes some lag is noticable but not in game.Playing is also fine.
To be honest, I'm sick of this crap. Most Wanted lags, games designed for Tegra 3 lags (Oh yeah, I have Tegra 3 inside, as you might know), Vice City is not even accessible for normal users of 4X HD and now Real Racing 3 lags also. I will throw this piece of crap away and will buy next Samsung or Google flagship this year. I'm also upset with nVidia. I'm happy my laptop is running by AMD stuff. How you can work with bunch of noobs (question for nVidia) in mobile devices area?
And, of course, brilliant 2012 summer flagship without Jelly Bean. Why HTC One X have this? Same ****ing summer flagship. Jesus Christ.

I can understand your disapointment, since this is a high end device.
But lets hope JB improves somethng, and remember that HOX and Nexus 7 also have issues with game performance.

yes but i doesnt mean games will be better on JB. the new kernel might improve performance, bujt far away from making it a super phone.

1x1.5GHz or 4x1.4GHz
you have to be aware that the tegra 3 will give the 1.5GHz only for 1 core, the max CPU speed for 4 cores is 1.4GHz.
so if a game is optimized for 4 cores, it will run much faster on 1.4GHz.
you should keep that in mind when you lock the CPU speed at 1,5GHz

Hey guys. I am going to (probably) buy this phone as it is really good/cheap but before i do i would like to ask some questions.
1st. Does it have the new UI of lg? If not is there any news about getting it? (You know the same as LG G3) thats the main reason i want to buy it.
2nd. I like games like dead trigger 1. How does it perform? is it playable at Low-Medium-High-Very high[with GLtools].
3rd. Is this phone going to be updated to Android L? I have been searching for hours but couldn't find something except that android L is 64bit and probably wont run on our phone.

1 If you root and install cyanogenmod, you can choose a theme (like G3)

3 who knows, but with cyanogenmod (or other custom rom) there is a lot more possible!

i am sorry but i hate cyanogenmod 100% stock android look. android by default is super ugly and not even the best theme for cm can fix that
Then you have to look for an other solution (or phone)

I know ram is better on CM but what about Gpu?
The performance is way better, I don't play games on it, but I noticed when I used scr which is using gpu to render. When I recorded a test, it was smooth.

What do you consider loud? I use it to listen to music while showering and I hear everything, though I have to say that I sample all my songs 125% louder.

i can consider it loud when i have it an an other room inside my bag and i can hear it while it is ringing . For example my Sony xperia neo v is super loud.( it has Xloud by Sony).
Then it's loud enough

Sorry to bother you, but... mine lags (occasionally) even on the lowest settings. So how come CM11 fixes that ? (I mean, Adreno 305 can never outperform Adreno 320)

If you want to root and install CM11 they have a LG G3 theme (Im using it atm) and it looks great.

Hi there. I am not willing to install CM11 as it has the aosp look which is UGLY. No mater the theme you put on it. It is ugly. If i get the phone i will create my own themes and try to make this phone look like g3.
If someone needs cm11 then i believe Moto G is better.

I don't know, I just say in my case Dead Trigger 2 from madfingers (I think) played with no lag at all, needless to say I used to play it quite often on settings that were the highest possible (yes, I did see the difference in graphics after changes, but not in performance)
That's strange because, then it would mean there is no difference between the two GPUs. On my phone, there is no way to play on highest settings. (I tried it today) I can get it to run, but, the frame rate is too choppy.
I'll investigate this further as I'm not sure what settings allow 305 to perform like 320 (which would be great)

You should learn more about this because, by default, the device cannot run at highest settings without stuttering. (it's a 305)

you can give gltools a try. It may increase the fps a bit.
