Hello ... I am buying Galaxy Note in the following 2 days .. I just want to know where this device is made before buying, unboxing and seeing that under the battery.. How can I know that the device " Made in Korea by Samsung " not other Countrys like China or Vietnam before buying such pricy Handset ? . Help Plz.
Thanks
My first international SGSII was Korean made. I was happy.
Sold it, used another phone, they re-bought an international SGSII. Made in China.
Absolutely zero difference.
Back in my Symbian days, I would smile when my phone was made in Finland. So much that I would agonize over others I bought, hoping they were MIF. Some that arrived were Chinese made (N8).
Again, not a lick of difference.
With modern manufacturing worldwide, any electronic component officially manufactured (not counterfeit) will be of equal quality.
I wouldn't worry one bit.
I bought "Made in Korea by Samsung" and now having problem with AT&T data.

recall of "made in china" ATK branded battery in galaxy tab (affect non-korean too?)
About two months ago my tab died. I'm a foreigner in korea so I went down to my local samsung electronics service centre (sec.co.kr). After talking shop with the service engineer he opened up that there was a silent recall on all made in china "ATK" prefixed model number batteries which I had. The battery was tossed in the trash can showing there is NO returns / credit (RA) arrangement with the chinese manufacturing contractor or the relationship had gone sour, but this is just speculation on my part.
The replacement battery is a korean model that seems to have diminished capacity after the wear-in period (like others have reported). It is well known that samsung, hyundai and other korean conglomerates sell second class products to its own countryfolk whilst only supplying top notch components on export orders. Let's test this theory. How many of you who dared to open your galaxy tab export models have chinese made batteries?
I kept a log of battery performance under my new and former batteries.

you'll be surprise that CHINA now the only country that made the original stuff and not to forgot the FACT that its also the #1 country who made the fake stuff
1- Cheap workers ...
2- ELECTRONIC Stuff are cheap
3- Intelligent Country
China now rolling the world by ELEC
Lets all hail China the land of fake brand knockoffs. They probably mixed up the genuine and fake batches with their OEM. Halarious! Go to china and try to buy a genuine electronic replacement battery or flash memory. Odds are you are buying a ghost shift fake. If china is so good why don't they design their own products like the koreans do. Their "dragon" mips knockoff cpu is a slow start.
Seriously guys. Its big news when a major handset is affected by a faulty component, or at least it was for the iphone 4. Now to assertain if this recall is for korean inferior product for domestic consumption with easy access to service facilities or their chinese cost cutting measure didn't pay dividends globally. Anyone got ATK branded batteries in overseas tabs? That's the issue here not how the chinese socialists peg their yuan to the us dollar to undermine the us manufacturing base (aka war machine) to overtake america as a super power. Reminds me of australia selling steal and iron ore to the japanese before it came back as bombs on darwin.

Im surprised there is no feedback. Someone PM rotohammer and ask him in the tabs he opened up to get JTAG working did he see a made in China ATK model battery. I used to work tec support for the now defunct daewoo electronics and it is no secret in the industry that OEMs will not own up to a product recall publically if they can help it and clean up the mess through their affiliated (or in house in Korea) service centres.
In case you dont yet get my drift this could be as big a scandal as the iphone 4 ariel defect that samsung capitalized on in the UK giving free galaxy S es to unhappy iphone users willing to blog their complaints online.
Does your tab have a defective battery? After 3-9 months your phone could refuse to start from a cold boot if defective and have very limited capacity compared to quality lithium-ion batteries. Samsung got screwed by their chinese subcontractor and don't want to clean up the mess if they can help it by keeping the userbase in the dark until they are all out of warranty.
That's why some of you need to check your battery model - especially early adopters.

Yeah lets just ignore him. The issue here is with all galaxy tab "7 models. The issue is not chinese people (like kosh) but the products they make more inexpensive through their lower wages and low exchange rate pegged to the dollar that was even too cost compeditive for samsung to refuse. I guess samsung has to competete with the iphone that's made under contact by Foxconn who's workers are committing suacide in droves (including R&D staff) according to local news reports. Yes I once lived in china.
Surey a few xda developers have seen a galaxy tab with it's back cover removed! Does the battery's model number have "ATK" marked on it and the infamous words "MADE IN CHINA"? If so I'm telling you your battery is faulty and there is a recall on it in Korea

My new battery isn't much better. Running on stock rom for a month with minimal applications I noticed the standby time was reducing.... I have to carry a battery pack in my backpack these days to get by.
Bump.... Has anyone oversees had a battery death or heard of defective chinese batteries stuck in overseas models?

Hi everyone, ill be going to Korea on the 23rd for my Christmas vacation and one of my goals is be able to buy the Galaxy Note at a cheaper price(i thought that since its made in Korea, it should be cheaper). Do anyone of you know the current price of the Galaxy Note there? where can I get it the cheapest in seoul?
Dont know exactly but im pretty sure it not cheaper by any means
Also dont buy one there roms are not compatible
oh really? so I cant flash it to South East Asia Rom?
Not sure about South Korea but I was just in Hong-Kong and at Fortress they are selling them for 5998 HKD and I was also in Bangkok and found that they were cheaper in Bangcock at 22,700 Baht. In Thighland You also get a 7% VAT refund at the airport so it is cheaper in Thailand to but than Hong-Kong. Taiwan's price is currently about 22,700 NTD.
Taiwan and Hong-Kong have both Black and White while Thighland only has Black at the moment (unless you buy one that is being sold on the black market).
Oh, that means, its cheaper here in the philippines. I saw a shop selling Php 28,700.
I want to get before I leave so I can already use it when I travel there!

I like how you originally spelled it correctly and then intentionally put a malicious misspelling afterwards.. LOL
The cheapest offering in our country (PH) is 30k with official Samsung warranty with NTC seal. 26k with just the shop warranty.
Don't buy in Korea, it's like buying stuff in Japan, they have their own hardware configurations there, not just software. HK is the best place to buy gadgets (if you're not so concerned about warranty)
Where did you saw the 26t?
I'm getting mine next week and i bought it from Samsung store in Thailand
I'm From Israel, do you think i will have a problem with the Note?
I dont think that the International Roms will work with the Korean model 100% because of the different cpu and modem

In HK, if you buy in Fortress, it will be a little bit more expensive than the other small shops. But you will get a lot of free gifts. Now in Fortress, you will get a spare battery, screen protector and the original leather case.

Should be just fine. Just check language support with Demo model at counter. The Hong-Kong version only has English,Korean, and Chinese. They do not come with all the languages like the iPhones do.

I got mine at the airport so no free battery. The free battery that they give you is not the original one but should be ok. The original battery in Taiwan sells for 1580 NTD at the Samsung store. Not a cheap battery but a must have. I will be buying one. I already bought the external battery charger for around 680 NTD to charge the spare battery. With a spare battery this Note should be good to go

Hey everyone, my 1st post here in xda. I found this forum while looking up info on n7000 and every other forum mentions this one and I can see why. I know it's not a good thing to start out here asking questions but I need some advice.
Does anyone know where I can buy a brand new unsealed n7000? I read in this forum that different people buy from different places and some of those sellers aren't even selling anymore. I just tried amazon off someone called MasterDeals, I know that there might be problems trying to buy this phone but I tried buying from them because it was "fulfilled by Amazon", I just got my phone today and what do you know, There was no phone inside... just a empty galaxy note box and I can tell it was never opened because there was no security seal to begin with, and there is no left over marks of their being a seal( the side is completely clean). So there's a heads up. "Don't buy from MasterDeals."
And since there has been some issue with the screen and other function, What's a good way for me to check every aspect of the phone to make sure it is 100% new and working? Thanks in advance
Also I'm planning on buying from "FGS Trading" off amazon, has anyone here bought from them?
why didn't you buy a sgn from a authorised samsung dealer?

Good to hear, hope mines the same.
Just a question did yours have the original security seal on it?
Hello folks,
we recently used a batch of Chromecast devices for different tasks. So right now I am able to investigate some of them more closely.
What I found out was that some of the devices bare the mark "Made in China", these are the most of them. But, there are also very few which show the message "Assembled in China".
What is better? Why? Why these two different notices? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance and happy investigating!
Cheers
Means something like "made in Somalia/North Korea" and later assembled(snap the case over the pcb and put it in the box) in China, this is supposed to add a touch of quality, but a poor one.
Performing the above mentioned two production steps, you qualify in Germany even for the real "Made in Germany" label.
Yep...All that really indicates is some parts were made outside of China but then put together in China.
As for Chinese products yes or no....
Good luck finding something that is NOT made or assembled in China these days! LOL
My UK H2G2-42 model is an "Assembled in China".
@lecorbusier: So, does this make a difference at all? Isn't a "poor touch of quality" better than nothing at all? I just don't know.
@Asphyx: Well, so you don't know where the rest comes from. Strange and a little bit unsatisfying...
The first PSP was Made in Japan, btw. And also Samsung manufactures a lot in Korea, especially HDD!
@theronkinator: Mine too! That's why I asked. I recognized most of our devices where "Made in China", so I just chose one of the few "Assembled in China" for myself.
Kind regards
Simply this label implies, that all relevant production steps took place in a country with a "lesser" reputation than China, most likely Cambodia, the "Workbench of the World's (China)" workbench, where you have to spend a month's salary to afford a Chromecast. Chinese work less than a week for a CC. That is the problem.

Could be from anywhere really Taiwan, Korea, even japan...
Much of it depends on where Marvel makes it's parts since it is the key component of the unit.
Depending on price and availability it can change depending on when that particular run is made at the factory.
@Asphyx: Yes, but "Made in Japan" and/or "Made in Korea" are quality labels for me. Google is from USA, Chromecast should be "Made in USA". But that's none of my business, unfortunately.

While I agree with the sentiment the truth is American Labor has priced itself out of the Manufacturing business unless it is a high end product that costs a lot of money and only we can make.
A lot of where it is made has to do also with the natural resources of that particular country.
All of our little technological toys are highly dependent on Rare Earth Metals (emphasis on the rare) and China is the worlds main supplier of those commodities.
You know there was a time I can remember (yes I'm an old bastard) where the Made in Japan and Made in Korea wasn't any more quality than what we think Made in China is now! LOL
The only worry about Made in China is it sometimes can be a cheap knockoff of the real product and not made to the precise specs and quality of parts of the original.
In the seventies, when japanes products had achieved world standard, and consumer electronics makers in Europe and Usa were dying, ALL of the cheap, crappy stuff seemed to come from Hongkong. Hard to believe, as tiny as it is, and that's were the actual manufacturing took place.

Yep I was referring to the 60's where Japan was concerned.
... and Korean stuff was inferior until the 90s.
Finally laid my hands on a white note 4 in jarir. Sadly out of stock in less than a day. Also out of stock in extra stores. I have to say a very beautiful phone my note 3 looked ugly next to it but I dont know why samsung didnt stock up there were a lot of potential buyers looking for it. Also did not notice any gap or color shift in the screen. Looks like I will have to stop fantasizing over the edge hehe.
Any saudi owners with one?
Sold out in all stores in mall of dhahran why is samsung sending limited stocks they should know itll be a huge seller here in saudi
I got one from a shop in King Fahad street with an extra SR100. He had 3 sets at that time.
I love it, I root it to change the ugly font and bought an orignal s-view cover (perfect). Now I am happy (CHEEEERS).
hi what colors do they have? will they sell the gold too? whats the name of the shop everywhere i go they have no stocks
There is more stock in almursalat in riyadh from 2800 to 3000
all of them is vietnam made
I'v got black one for my brother priced at 2750 SAR because it's opened box
I will wait for snapdragon version as it seems to have slightly better battery life
riyadh is too far. well more time for me to wait if saudi will release the note edge here or the note 4 gold lol
Great to see thread from KSA....... It is 'OUT OF STOCK' in almost all dominant sellers in KSA (i.e. Jarir/Extra/Al-Haddad etc.) but it is available in local market with little extra price. Battery preformance is excellent on Exynos version. I hope this time Exynos version will have better Android development since it is the International one and distributed on large scale throughout the world.
do the local markets sell out fast too? gold is still not making an appearance
Yep! They are.... Even some of my local friends (Saudis) have told me that executive working in jarir are selling note 4 out in local market with high rate say 100-150 SAR extra ..... And people are buying them like flies over food..he he he.... Gold version is still far away and I believe edge will also take some time. I don't why Samsung has not allocated sufficient amount of set in this region although they have a big market out here.
i think they will sell a load of gold note 4 and note edges here in saudi if samsung did their research lol
They are leader in marketing tricks by promotions and road hoarding. But should keep KSA/Gulf region in their prority list.
Just to update u guys jarir is selling the gold notes but beware coz they sell out really fast (white ones too). Even new note 3 ' s are sold out wonder why samsung is not restocking
pink note 4 available in extra
edit: just now i checked it sold out but you know now where it will be sold lol
Lulu Supermarket Khobar
Lulu supermarket Khobar
Black, white and gold available for 2699.
Made in vietnam i bought a black one..
I got my Note 4 in Jarir, Jeddah a couple months back.
I receNtly wanted to get the new Samsung Smart Watch, but the Saudis took one of the friggin cameras off it! WTF.
