[Q] Factory Reset (with all Carrier Bloatware) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody!
I couldn't find an answer to my question..
I recently purchased my Galaxy Note, best phone ever. Except that I found some kind of bump or a little space between the glass of the screen and the metal RIM... It does not affect anything but I would like a replacement in case it comes up with other troubles..
The thing is that I already rooted my phone and removed my carrier bloatware...The carrier is the responsible for changing my device since I bought it from them so I would like to do a Factory reset (not just data wipe) to recover my bloatware and ask for a replacement and not have changed anything...
Is this possible?.. I come from a SonyEricsson Xperia X10 and all I needed to do was connect to a SonyEricsson Software (PC Companion) to reflash original, carrier bloated, firmware.. Is this possible with my note?
Thanks for any help or guidance.. I'm a noob with Samsung..

I think a factory reset would reload the bloatware. Its supposed to put it back to how it came out of the box. Its worth trying. You're just going to wipe it anyways, so why not see what happens? I doubt the store would even notice the apps missing anyways.

There is a factory reset code in my FAQ, give that a spin. There are a couple in there for you to try.

Thanks... I tried the default factory reset and it did something it just restored the "apps" which are just default bookmark shortcuts with carrier icons...
I think that's enough for the warranty.. Only thing that is missing and I erased is the Social Hub... Does anyone know where can I get that APK??
Thaks to you both!!

[Q] Help! Galaxy S keeps crashing!

Hi I have a Galaxy S which is about 4 months old. Over the last two months (particularly in the morning) after charging through the night ~I pick it up only to discover a blank screen! The only way to get it going is to take the battery out and even then that doesn;t always work first time. It is happeneningpretty regularly now... can anyone help me... I dont know why this is happening.
Thanks.
Hi... If you are familiar with flashing stock/custom ROM then you can try different rom.
If no, try to do factory reset, and it will reset all applications and some data.
What is flashing rom? I'm keen to learn...
If I do factory reset do I loose all the apps I have bought and will I loose Gingerbread?
If you purchased it new, take it back to the store and get a replacement.
Otherwise you can try a different rom...

[Q] All vibration stopped working and I can't fix it

Out of the blue yesterday, my AT&T Moto X stopped vibrating. I noticed it first with the soft keys (home, back etc) but it affects everything from vibrating on ringing, to enabling silent mode, to unlocking with active display, to games.
I've tried rebooting and toggling vibration in settings. I've downloaded vibration tester apps from the Play Store. I only have the same ~70 or so apps that most of us use (dropbox, weather channel etc) and I don't run any obscure apps (less than 1000's of downloads), and I hadn't downloaded anything new for hours before the problem started.
I feel I've tried all the basic stuff, except factory reset, I don't think there's anything too obvious I'm overlooking.
So that leaves me facing either a hardware or software problem. I doubt its a problem with the physical vibration motor. Factory defects are so ridiculously rare that it should never be your first course of action. However, if it's a problem with the hardware I could try my local ATT Service Center. If it's a software problem, which seems much more likely, I could try a factory reset on the device. However it seemed a wise idea to post this question to the pros before I go down that road.
Appreciate any help you guys can offer.
AT&T Moto X
4.4
Not rooted
I would try a factory reset if you done everything else. My wife's Galaxy S3 did the same thing after the update to 4.3. A factory reset fixed it.
my gf's at&t motox running 4.2 lost vibration too. after many many reboots it would randomly work, or work very weakly (so it wasn't a problem with the physical motor, maybe it was an electrical connection to the motor?).
it was covered under warranty. they gave her a code, she re-did motomaker, and returned her original broken phone in the box the new one came in.
I hate the vibration in this thing. I would love mine to stop lol

I just performed a standard factory reset on the device and the problem persists... No vibrations, anywhere.
Is there anything else I can try? or am i headed to a service center?

You can sbf back to 4.2.2. I had a connectivity problem and a factory reset didn't fix it. But going back to 4.2.2 and taking the OTA did.
All the files are in the Dev section. If the links are broken I have copies of everything I can share. Except the 4.2.2 file for att I have Verizon.

If that doesn't work then your only other option is a warranty claim. Or live with it I guess.
The final verdict:
With nothing else working (factory reset, safe mode etc) I took the device to the ATT service center. They replaced the device, attributing the problem to defective hardware. Still find it hard to believe it was actually the hardware, but I don't see any other conclusions to draw.
Thanks for everyone's help.

At least it worked out and you have a working phone again.
I am with this problem right now and i can´t fix it.
After i flashed CM13 without Gapps my Moto X 2nd (xt1097 brazil) all vibration stopped working.
I tried going back to stock rom 5.1, 6.0 and even NX 10.1 but with NX i can hear something vibrating the phone, so i eliminated the possibilite of a hardware malfunction.
I don´t know what to do...
please help

[Q] Replaced my handset

Hi All,
Sorry if this info is somewhere already but I just couldn't find it (I think my search string was too long)
I had a Z3 and the power was not working correctly so I got it replaced on the warranty (its works phone) now I had downloaded hundreds of apps and it comes pre loaded with a load of apps.
I was hoping with the replacement to have a bit of a fresh start on the phone and not install all the bull crap apps I did before... but as soon as I am out of the setup of the phone it is already downloading every stupid app I ever downloaded.
is there a way I can stop this, I don't mind factory resetting the phone.
it depends on what version of android you have but there should be an option when you are setting up the phone that says something like "restore from backup." do a factory reset and then uncheck that option.

Camera app not working at all and frozne on the questions from first run

Hello guys,
So my desperate anger on this phone reached again another level.
I simply can not use that stupid camera at all.
Here is the video what it is doing when I am trying to run it.
Sorry for the quality it was recorded with wife's xperia 5 and sometines I mpved a lot with my hand holding the phone.
But I think you will be able to see the main issue - the never ending first time run questions of the camera app I have.
https://youtu.be/D9BOdk3uGuc
So can anybody tell me what can be the issue ? I turned off the battery saver, I restarted phone several times, I cleared chace and storage in camera app several times already. But still I have this issue with camera app.
I do not want to do factory reset as I already have some data and other app settings that I do not want to lose or I do not want to manage the settings again from scratch. But if it will be the only option, looks like I will have to do it at the end.
Really thinking, screw warranty and go the unlock bootloader way, even for the price that I will lost that super enchant settings for the camera that I can not use at all at the moment...
Either contact the Sony service.
Or Upgrade to 10.0.
Or Fullwipe your phone.
Or do a combination of these.
Or try to delete the appdata of the camera software.
Oh and don't unlock the bootloader if you don't installed and booted 10.0 first.
Martin I am on the latest Android 10 from March update. Sorry do not know the number now but I updated 2nd or 3rd march. And I moved to Androdi 10 in January I think or in February. So running on Android 10 for some month now.
Contacted Sony they told me to try a few things that I tried but nothing helps.
Looks like I need to try the last option factory reset which I do not want to but well need to give it a shot.
Delete the appdata ? Like clear storage ? I deleted storage a few times. Or you mean to go via total commander directly to camera data and delete there something ?

Oh, sad to hear that you already tried everything
Except doing a factory reset or using a custom I don't know any other way.
(Mainly because I never saw this issue)
Maybe it is caused by userdata from Android 9 somewhere in the system.
Since it isn't a common problem, the fullwipe might be the solution.
I recommend Google backup and Sony backup&restore on a locked phone.
(But I also heard they close Sony backup&restore and replace it with a Google backup solution this year)

New here and with a weird problem...

Hi all !
I'm a retired recording engineer from eastern Québec, Canada, enjoying retirement and keeping busy buildingand fixing audio equipment and restoring vintage British motorcycles.
I'm having a very strange problem with my Moto G5 (not Plus) that started out of the bue earlier this week. When the phone is locked, be it after locking it manually or after exceeding the preset time, and I receive a call, I do not get the phone logo on the screen anymore. If I want to take the call, the screen remains dark and I can't simply swipe it. I need to press the "start-stop" button, then a white box appears telling me who is calling and the padlock appears at the bottom of the screen. Then I have to trace the security pattern and the phone app appears, but on the in-out call screen instead of showing the button that would allow me to take the call. Instead I have to swipe down in order to get the box that allows me to take the call or reject it. I did countless Google searches and went through all the settings but I couldn't find any mention of that problem. The weird thing is that the phone was working perfectly one night, and then the following morning I had that problem. Can anyone help ?
Welcome to XDA
Was the phone updated overnight?
Clear the system cache if possible on this model.
Try in safe mode to help rule out 3rd party app interference.
It could possibly be a virus, rootkit or the hidden users settings have been corrupted.
The rom itself may have been corrupted, not necessarily anything nefarious... maybe just a high energy particle that flipped a flash memory cell read state. Atomic particles playing god, I hate that
Worse case solutions, factory reset, if that doesn't work reflash last known good firmware.
If all that fails it's likely a hardware failure but this is probably the least likely cause.
Hi !
Thanks for your reply. As far as I can tell there is no recent update. I tried everything you suggested except the factory reset because I dread reinstalling all the apps, but I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. Hoping it's not one of those pretentious atomic particles... ;-)

Try disabling the lock screen etc. Go back to where it needed no password to use.
That's the first thing I tried, no luck... :-(

I'm not familiar with that phone.
In general, try clearing the system cache.
I don't like messing with the phone app data but... first backup your contacts then start clearing data in the associated phone apps.
If a hidden user setting has been toggled it may be very hard to find/correct unless you know how. A factory reset would do so.
If that fails the firmware has become corrupted and needs to be reflashed.
If all that fails it's likely a hardware failure, either the mobo or possibly the C port PCB.
A C port pcb failure can do strange things on a Samsung like loss of internet/phone connection. I bring up the C port pcb because they get a lot of wear and tear... and they're a lot cheaper than a mobo.
