In short, yeah. Oh yeah.
What difference 2.3.6 will make over 2.3.5

Just updated to 2.3.6. My GPS was better with 2.3.5.
GPS sucks now, 100 meters off normally. Earlier with 2.3.5, it was bang on.

My gps with 2.3.6 is off the carts, 11 to 13 satellites with only 60 feet off!
GPS works better now!
And in s-memo, the back button is disabled while writing, to prevent accidental press

Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade with the recently leaked European Gingerbread 2.3.4 image to the Bell's Vibrant I9000M?
I'm currently running Froyo 2.2, firmware UGKC1. Have downloaded the official 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com and already rooted and unlocked my phone.

It is... i would suggest going this route instead of through the one from samfirmware.
I use darky's ROM. I upgraded to 10.1 (it is 2.3.3), then recently upgraded via CWM to Dark Core 2.7.3 (which has the 2.3.4 GB firmware). Beware that the core is beta at this time, and so far in 2 days i haven't had any real issues on my phone.
www.darkyrom.com, then check the forums.
We are quite in Sync. Co-incidentally I upgraded to Darky's ROM(10.1) about an hour back. I'll give a try to the Beta now. Pls do share your experience with the beta overtime.
Thanx

So far so good... other than my battery. Although i do have a momax 2700mah battery, it only lasted 30ish hours before it died... including using superpower to manage night time usage. I should be getting more than that with this battery (and i have done the reconditioning with the battery since i got it).
Even with 10.1 i got a day and a half or so... but the half day doesn't work for me as i need it for a full day.
Now that i've done one round of recondition on my battery, i'm anxious to see how good the battery will last now.
10.1 works with the JVP kernel fine (at least some of the features for it). I had to upgrade gtalk to the video talk version myself though (although i'm sure it'll be included in the next darkyrom).
Let me know what you think of it...
Hey guys i am also on the I9000M through bell and would love to get the gingerbread on here but the last time i tried i couldnt connect to my 3g for wireless and i couldnt call out or recieve calls please tell me the guide you used because man that gingerbread was fast and smooth.
Right now heres what my phone status is
Model number GT I9000M
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband version I9000UGKC1
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
[email protected] #4
Build number FROYO UGKC1
Thanks in advance for any help
ps my phone is already rooted
you can get gingerbread, but you need to take the extra step of flashing the kc1 modem, or do the 850 band tweak on a euro modem

I could say after if you using Odin.
But before starting ask yourself what do you really want....
Just the 2.3.4 stock or a custom rom (like Darky's), rooted?, Aply a new theme?

It is worth upgrading to 404 as battery life is better, transitions and window animations are smoother than 403.
I'm using CF Root 5.6 LRG kernel and stock odex rom with some bloatware removed.
Well its my personal experience.
You'll sure hear some people advise you to downgrade to GB :silly:
You can download 404 with Check Fus Downlaoder.
Is that kernal safe???

A: Whatever floats your boat.
Q: Whats the major differences between the ics versions?

No ICS Kernel is 100% safe.
When performing a Full wipe (Data/Cache), always flash the Abyss 4.2 Kernel first And reboot back into recovery!!!, and then wipe.
and what's the relevance between you going away and the urgent itch to upgrade?
No reason to upgrade lol....i just a flashaholic

Regarding CF Root 5.6 kernels. Samsung has released new sources but we still do not know if brick bug is fixed.
Better safe than sorry - always use GB kernels to be 102% sure and safe.

I do not know if CF Root is compatible with MIUI.
Flash CFR 5.6 with mobile odin.
use only the kernel that came with the firmware, i doubt also that other kernels will work with MIUI.

Search in Google :"Upgrade Galaxy Mini to Gingerbread"
Follow the instruction, after you done you will be in 2.3.6 or 2.3.4, but it's still stock.
just read dev threads and flash something with good battery backup (cm7 by mebitek or kittenlinux most likely, with moderate use i had 3, sometimes 4 days without charging on it. in cm9 i have 2 days tops, but i'm happy with it)

I think you won't find any member here who can give you an advice for a better modem for old GB (I still use it).
And more: normally you would change the modem to get better connections.
I do not believe that different modem bins would have significant differences in consuming your battery.
So more interesting here: What problem do you have? Why do you want to change?
I have changed my modem when i was on GB And it did helped me by less battary consumtion
And when i changed my rom to ICS i have tried this method but it dosent work and i dont wont to change my kernal
So finally i really need an offical rom with a root off course and offiall kernal
Btw i am now on the GB 2.3.6 as mentioned above
Thnx any way

Hello everyone i have Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 and i update android version from 2.2 to 2.3.3. I want to install 2.2 version because i have troubles with version 2.3.3. I looked on the internet but do not know which version to download.
Umm why would you want to go back to 2.2? Not many apps quite support froyo nowadays. You could go to www.samfirmware.com and find the latest 2.3.6 gb over there. Best one yet is the Hong Kong one.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
The smallest problem is the applications on Froyo.Tab works slowly and therefore I want to go back to an older version because less RAM is occupied and tab works better.
In Linux/android, RAM unused is ram wasted.
Not like Windows.

A few days ago he worked with a small deceleration and today is too slow if you can not send me version 2.2. Tell me which version i install that tab will function normally.
The version in my signature. Overcome Series 7.
It is a GB 2.3.6 Samsung based but tweaked to run faster.
Follow the link in my signature and download the guide.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Is there any possibility that I install this rom on version 2.3.3 and what will change as I install it?
You need to completely wipe.
Overcome feels like stock ROM, especially with stock theme patch.
But under the hood it is much more.

All stock ROMs at samfirmware are to be flashed using Odin by putting the tar.md5 in the PDA field.
