Is it me or when I charge my G1, it only takes only an hour to get full battery. And it dies in like 2 or 3 hours later? Btw, I'm using an extended battery.
probably need a new battery, is this something new when you flashed froyobylaszlo?

FBL trashing battery
I`m having the same experience.
I started with stock ROM and than used CM4, CM5, briefly CM6 and ended up with FBL 5.2
With all CM mods, charging my (stock) battery was always a pain - it took up to 5-6 hours to charge it from 5% to 100%.
After installing FBL and clearing battery stats it took under 2 hours to charge my G1 to full. I was amazed and really happy with overall FBL performance... until few months ago...
I noticed that battery endurance started to drop rapidly, and my G1 went from 3 days without charging few months ago (I'm not a heavy user + I use min brightness and 2g all the time) to 12 hours 1 month ago.
In its last days it was unable some times to sustain power when talking or watching videoclips and phone would then shut off (as if battery was pulled out, not software shutdown). Also charging time started to grow slowly again to 3-4 hours.
I bought new battery (extended capacity, 1600mAh) under a month ago and cleared stats and all. It charges to full under an hour and I`m afraid that FBL will trash it the same way it did with the previous one in half a year.
BTW. FBL creator - Laszlo - stopped developing for G1 after his battery mysteriously died.
Could it be that FBL Kernel somehow mistreats G1s battery?
No every few months you need to recalibrate your battery
Kill it...charge it fully (plus extra)...wipe battery stats....kill it

Exactly what happened to me. So, I switched to Ezgingerbread, my battery lasted longer than it did on FbL.
That's because when you install a new rom it deletes battery stats calibrating the battery
Heh I really like this rom

I think there is a problem with my 3500 mah battery from sedio. I have had it for a few months now and it really wasnt what i expected. I had heard people who have had 2-3 days + battery life from one charge when i cant even get 24 hours on a single charge with out playing a game or using gps. Im running sky raiders 3.5 right now.
Is that bad? Should i try and get in contact with sedio? Any other tips.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
For example today:
13hrs since unplugged. 29%
awake 4.5 hours
That sucks right?

That is pretty bad. I'm at 12 hrs 50 mins since unplugged, 3 hrs 15 mins screen on, on stock battery. What kernel do you have?

I have to admit i am pretty new to all this stuff, just a couple of months in so i wouldnt know how to change my kernal but im sure i could figure it out if i had to.
Heres what i got:
There are all kinds of things you can do to extend your battery life but by far the simplest is to turn your screen down to quarter brightness and turn off the auto adjustment.
You need to reset your battery.
Step 1
charge the phone while turned off till the light turns green. Unplug but do not turn on then after about twenty or so seconds plug it back in and the light will be Orange again wait till its green.
Step 2
Once the charge light is green for a second time boot the phone into cwm and clear battery status. Make sure phone is still plugged in
Step 3
After you clear the batter status reboot the phone making sure that you do not unplug it . as soon as you're able to open up your app drawer once the phone has rebooted then unplug it.
Step 4
Do not charge your phone again until the battery dies and the phone shuts off.
After this you are done

For the longest time I was convinced the eBay-generic 3500mAH that came with the phone when I bought it online was faulty because it seemed I was getting identical results from my stock battery even after wiping battery stats. But now after running the battery for a week or so continuously and not swapping out to the stock battery it seems to yield much better life now that I calibrated the phone to this battery and left it in for a while.
Alright, so the biggest complain to this phone is the battery life as we all know. Trying everything to stabilize the battery life, i have used many apps but no luck. One thing I have noted after trying to fix the battery with a calibrator (root required), I read my phone using 4.1V. This is strange because for a simple Watt calculation, you do w= amps x voltage. If the battery can only manage 1.5 x 3.7 or 5.55 Watts and my phone specifically is taking about 1.5 x 4.1 or 6.15 Watts, this means faster battery drain.
What I want to know if there is some sort of voltage control app or modification to the power management for the phone to remain within the V3.7 specified by the battery.
I will also say that randomly my phone decided to run no more than V3.7 on Feb 14 and this is what happened. I unplugged at 7:22 a.m and by the time 9:30 a.m Came, I was at 70%, but then my phone lasted until 6:15 p.m or 18:15 after that. And noted that i did regular texts (sent and received about 200) had a 15 minute phone call and about 1 hour and 15 minutes of bluetooth music playback (I use Bluetooth headsets **Jaybird SB2**) and some internet usage. Not 12 hours but better than the 4 hours most of us get.
What are your thoughts as well?
Juice Defender and/or Gingerbread
I use both gingerbread 2.3.5 and juice defender, still no luck. Just going to buy 3 batteries.
I wiped my internal SD and factory reset my phone, that did wonders. If you have GB and Juice Defender and your still having poor battery life there must be a problem that hopefully should be fixed with a clean slate, unless you have unrealistic expectations out of your battery.
I'll try what you have done and then ill let you know. But my battery is crazy bad. how many hours do you get? the percent drop is insane. its a little frustrating because my mind is always on battery percentage and my eyes are stuck to the notification bar looking at the battery instead of "enjoying" the phone.
I charge my battery every day.
I'm running 20C with Andida's 1980mah battery.
how often do you use it during the day? i have read that andida's 1980 only gives an extra hour
I used to get 18 or more with froyo and juice defender. Now I get similar on GB without Juice Defender that's with mild use like calls, texts, web surf. As soon as I fire up a game especially 3D ones ill charge immediately after just to be safe.
I play GTA 3 about an hour-two every day,and my wi-fi is never off
I flashed the Lestatious Biohazard Kitchen Rom after flashing the GB 21a baseband and my battery life is better than it's ever been.
buy a better battery
i brought an hyperion battery from ebay.... sure the battery is a little over double the thickness of a typical battery (it comes with a new back cover too) but the life of it is amazing!! i now can leave the phone (fully charged) for 6-8 hours while sleeping and wake up with the phone @ 97% and that's on the default rom.... best $18 ever spent
Hi,
So I bought an Anker 1800mah battery about two months ago, thought that would improve battery life.
Thing is, even though I own the I9000 a very long time, I don't know how battery life should be.
So my question is...
For example, if I have data and GPS on and screen on, is it normal that I get 1% drain every 1.5-2 minutes?
Using ICS CM9.

Turn gps off and set brightness to around 20%. You should then lose 1% roughly every 3:30 - 4:00 minutes.
Weird I lose 1% every 10 min sometimes more

Hi all,
First, from what I remember, my old battery acted somewhat the same. Also, I used it for a year and a half, and have totally destroyed it because of all the calibrations. By a calibration I mean draining the battery to 0%, charging to 100%, doing it about 3-4 times... Only later I have learned that it is not healthy to the battery to do that so many times. That's why I only did this 3 times with my new battery (Manufacturer instructions).
Now, thing is, I gave the example with the data and GPS on and screen on because I used GPS for navigations a lot of times. So, I can't turn off GPS. About the brightness, its set to automatic all the time, so I see no reason to modify it myself.
I'm currently using CM9 Blueberry edition but I'm planning to change to JB in a few days. Even though I doubt it, any chance battery life will improve with JB?
Latrop, with the same settings? Having data + GPS + screen on all the time (10 min)? Are you sure?
Mine did not sure bout yours

Using ROCKET ROM reloaded
I've got very good battery life when not using phone - 3g/wifi and draing at less than 2% an hour and will last over 2 days on stand-by. If I do anything that involves having the screen on though then the battery can be flat in not much more than an hour. If i try and examine whats draining battery I can't get past screen time/android as culprits.
I have factory reset and reinstalled ROM twice to check. Phone is 12 months old - Is it likely just in need of a new battery?

yes try a new battery first as it is old.
I bought SGSA 2 months before and updated it to JB with Kies (Unrooted). I had around 30-40 apps installed along with 2x battery saver. The battery used to remain for 2 days on phone calls, texts, minimal wifi and games usage. When I fully charge my phone at night , lock it and wake up in the morning, it would have dropped to 99% or 98% I was quite happy with the performance.
But over a period of time, it started lagging a lot and touch became unresponsive. So I factory reset my phone 2 days back. and installed 25 apps again. But now the battery drains like dam. I charge my smartphone to 100% at around 11 pm and when I wake up around 6 am. The battery percent would be about 54%-52%. I dunno what to do ? Even tried the same 2x battery saver but it didn't work.. Please help !!

Depends what apps you instaled. If you have good amount of ones that use autosync, it can cause battery drain. Also turn off internet overnight.
