Hi there!
I finally decided that I want to use the stock deodexed ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
(According to *#1234# I need the PDA/PHONE/CSC XXJPY/XXJPY/OXAJPY version)
But I want to use the speedmod kernel. For speedmod installation toturial I have this http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-how-to-install.html
However I have no idea how to install the stock deodexed ROM. I suppose I can use the ODIN packages but I'm not sure if I have the 512.pit right now (I'm running stock 2.2.1 then I guess yes, but I would like to confirm this).
As well Im not sure if I need to flash the ROM first and then the speedmod kernel or the opposite.
I really would like some help here. Thanks!
Someone please?
Do I flash the ROM first via odin and then flash the speedmod kernel?
yes, rom first. then kernel.
at least that's what i always do.
Thanks!
Also what about the .pit file? The thread about stock roms says that I need the 512.pit, how do I know that I have 512.pit right now and I dont need to flash it (Im running stock 2.2.1 from samsung right now)?
Someone please?
Thanks!

Not exactly what I need but thanks!
Hello,
I hope it's not the wrong section, but the others are I9000.
I want to flash an I9001. The phone is on 2.3.3 I though.
I've root the phone, now I can go to 2.3.6 by flashing a rom in recovery or do i need to go to 2.3.6 first?

You need to flash (for example) KQ7 with Odin, this updates the whole base of the rom, most new roms are build on KQ7 base so I think that's the right one for you
btw this is the wrong section, i9000 Q&A is the right section
I think we go for broodrom.
But it's important to get first to 2.3.6 stock? Or can we flash the rom directly by odin?
As an ODIN stock ROM also includes modem binaries that we cannot flash over recovery, it is a good idea to get to the latest stock ROM with ODIN and then start with custom ROMs over FeaMod recovery (it's basically CWM). If you have already the latest stock ROM on your 9001, you can use whatever method you prefer.
I think recovery is quicker and easier to use as you don't need a pc near you.
And which last stock 2.3.6 we can flash the best? We live in Holland..., don't know it is important?

Best way is to flash a stock rom via Odin say kk9 then root via Odin kk9 then flash ics repack lp1 then factory reset and flash stunner rom that way you shouldn't have any trouble with full working root
Check on stunners op in 4th post that will guide you to install fresh
Also once done use triangle away to reset counter

Check the link in my signature. Follow the steps on the dot to get rooted and then the steps given in the Stunner thread to install Stunner. Try reading first. If not then get back here....and will help you. Unless you have got yourself the hang of the things you wont be able to handle ICS as its still beta and might pose some bugs.
Cheers!!
If I install teh new LPF ics rom along with its associted bootloader following instructions given by many. Would be able to overwrite/uninstall/reverse it (or what ever it akes) in order to go back to stock GB rom?

Using PC Odin you'll be able to flash a gb rom if you like. You'll have to go into download mode and flash from there.

you can revert to stock GB via ODIN (the safest way)
if I were you I wouldn't install LPF ROM yet! It's not confirmed safe, it could damage your emmc storage if you do wipe in recovery!

So if revert back to stock gb, would that overwrite this lpf bootloader with the orig stock gb bootloader or would it leave the lpf booloader?
Thanks

you will have to flash new bootloader via ODIN!
and if you revert to GB it won't really bother your device!
please, read this!

I've previously read this and this!
And obvious you did not understand my previous post!
I didn't ask how to flash it (obvious i have to use odin) and about whether or not it bothered my device!
I asked whether or not my orig gb bootloader would be put back after reflashing stock gb rom from ics lpf rom!
As for the !'s, you seem to like them!
Thanks!

yes! it is contained in the .tar.md5 file when you flash it! (PDA one)
Hi
I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to flashing roms on my gnote and would really appreciate some advice. I installed a pre-rooted rom N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1 Open Europe (02/03/2012) (from bodivas's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1535025) a couple of weeks ago, all worked fine .
However, I would now like to UNROOT my galaxy note, and install the latest stock ICS rom for CPW region. I would be grateful if you could tell me how I can do this. The CPW ICS rom I downloaded only has an ODIN 'PDA' file, but there is no 'PHONE' or a 'CSC' to overwrite the files I flashed when I original flashed the pre-rooted rom.
Do I need to overwrite the 'PHONE' and 'CSC' files as well as the 'PDA' file in order to unroot?
Really appreciate any help,
Many thanks
No. Jusy flash the PDA file.

So the csc and the phone files that came with the pre rooted rom file do not need to be overwritten with replacements? why is that? Will flashing the new stock ics file result in a new phone and csc file being created? And also my gnote being unrooted? I would ideally like to have the corresponding csc and phone files that should go with the new stock ics rom.
Thanks
Yes you will get the corresponding csc of the rom you are flashing. Sometimes a rom is built with several files and sometimes with only one.
And it will be unrooted.
Thanks for your help man. Really appreciate it.
Just to confirm - I updated with a complete stock Open EU GB rom, and then downloaded the new ICS update via OTA.
So I should now be all unrooted and completely back to stock?
I'm not sure if you will know, but now that my phone is unrooted, and stock, should I be safe from the eMMC bug associated with ICS?
Many thanks for your help man.
Noone is completely safe from the ICS bug. But if you dont do a factory reset, nothing should happen to your device.
