No, it is not the same. Samsung introduced with SGS II / Note a new "feature":
After flashing a non signed kernel, a yellow triangle is shown in the boot process.
In addition a counter you can see in download mode counts the number of unsigned kernels flashed.
Looks like http://cdn-static.cnet.co.uk/i/c/blg/cat/mobiles/rootingsgs2/rootingsgs5.jpg on the Note also.

Used the KIES to upgrade the firmware (they say have a new firmware anyway)
Something went wrong after the upgrade, i cant on my Tab and after the Galaxy firmware update. I can only see the Samsung logo after the on button being pushed.
The i tried the Heimdall, trying to install other rom but it got worst. It has no android logo now or samsung logo. It only has a phone & computer logo with "!" on it.
Any expert here? Attached is the picture of my tab now...
You are still in download mode. You can flash a kernel with heimdal, or with odin (my favorite method).
It's not really this firmware can be updated by Odin... when the bootloader has been blocked.
FYI
Have you solve your problem? I have the same with you!

Check your binary counter, go to download mode, you can read it on Lt upper corner, if it raised you need a JIG.
If only yellow triangle then just go with link above given by Richy
I want to reset binary counter on samsung galaxy note n7000 and I flash bootloader of galaxy s2 by odin to my galaxy note n7000. Now my galaxy note can not boot. How can I do for repairing?
Thank for help me.

Man what were you trying to achieve by flashing the bootloader of S2 ?
Not sure if jig will help you. Try that.
If it does not help then you got a brick. Send it to samsung service center and get a motherboard replacement done at your cost m afraid!

Did you use JIG to reset your binary counter? How did you do it?
Edit: I have solved the issue. I was able to remove the triangle and the binary counter as mentioned in this thread in post #13 of this thread. Please read the all the 13 posts for proper context.
Galaxy Note Boot Repair Without JTAG / RIFF box ??
I have to ask the originaltor of this thread - how did you fix your 'bricked' Samsung phone?
As I have made the same mistake...
I used odin on the pc and flashed (by mistake) the wrong bootloader into the phone (as part of flashing fresh rom procedure)!
So now....
Basically when I press power on the phone, nothing happens.
When I put the 'jig' into it - nothing happens - no download mode
when I press the recovery key / download key modes - nothing happens
When I plug the charger in - there is no battery charge icon
When I plug the usb cable into the laptop - nothing happens
Basically the phone is bricked and having read a similar thread on how to revive a Samsung without the phone having to be turned on, or the battery in, well I thought to ask.
Many thanks for any replies.

Basically JTAG / RIFF box will repair the boot loader....but are there other ways??
..
Can you help me?

I am in the same situation as you, could you tell me if you had to buy the jig thing to make your phone work? Which specific steps from the post did you have to follow? Thanks! Daniel.

Hey Guys,
I'am just really wondering and confused why the Triangle Away won't work on my Device.
I have a (Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 DUOS [SM-J320F]) Phone.
And i want reset my Flash counter, because i want to Unroot my device to have a normally unrooted and unflashed Phone, like a Phone that was bought shortly.
Yes i know that this Firmware isn't supported, but i'am wondering why is it not supported ??? That's massive unfair for the other peoples and i really need to reset my Flash counter.
I Hope anyone can answer me
Hello,
I think my phone is hard bricked but I do not know why. Although I did not do anything that could damage it. I'll tell you the details yesterday morning, after charging the phone I wanted to make a call so i found out that it turned off and when I tried to turn it back on again, it was stuck on "Galaxy Note N-7000 ". So, I decided to use the recovery mode and after a wipe data, it showed "failed" and stuck on it. I waited a few minutes and the result !! a black screen total. Now I don't have access to the recovery mode nor to the download.I can not even charge the phone again.Guys please help me, I do not know what to do and I have already tried to press the buttons, to take the battery ... but nothing has changed.
And what phone do you have?
Lol why are you on here asking about a totally different phone
