Well so Opera sucks really bad most websites i go to the fonts too damn small to see is there a fix for this or another browser i can download?
Wow Scott,
Welcome to the forum. What a pleasant post from such a new member.
Well let's see... perhaps you would prefer the new IE in 6.5. You could give that a try. There is Skyfire. Several seem to like that. Oh, you might also try to do a search. Amoung the issues you are searching for, you might also notice, perhaps, a slightly elevated degree of decorum as measured against your intial entries.
Happy hunting.
Doug M.

it's the other way around for me, IE8 is getting to my nerves.
what is your Opera version anyway? I believe you can use 'one column' view to eliminate too small fonts.
wondering when will Google/Mozilla make their browser avails for mobile devices.

When I zoom in I lose word-wrap so there is a lot of horizontal scrolling to be done which is a pain so I would rather see the font larger than to zoom.
I get really fed up with it sometimes.

Fish Bowl
Huge fan of Fish Bowl. I'm a photographer so I end up with thousands of pictures (it's nice to have a portable portfolio when meeting new clients) and Fishbowl has an interface that basically just makes one big image card for each of my galleries so I can swipe through hundreds of pics fast and click on the one I am looking for.
Only downside is it's not multitouch but doesn't affect use really, just trips me up sometimes when comming from other apps. The last time I sent an email off to the Dev he had my suggestion in the next build a few days later so I feel guilty asking for multitouch now when it's already a really good app.

I'm a photographer too and use my Nook often to show proofs and sell shots. Thanks for the tip on Fish bowl, I'll give it wirl. Do you find it can reproduce decent quality jpegs fast? I do resize my shots appropriately for the Nook, but of course I want the best resolution possible. I have found Quick decent and I prefer the 3D Gallery's interface but not the speed or quality.
Thanks again for the tip on Fish Bowl, I'll give it a shot.
Edit: Photo Gallery (fish bowl beta) is sweat! Just about knocked my socks off, a great recommendation.
Yeah I had the same reaction when I saw Fish Bowl the first time too. I was pretty sure I was going to have to buy an iPad just to get a presentation system that looked polished and ran silky smooth but this app just does what I need it to. Now I'm thinking I'll pick up a Asus Transformer with the larger, higher resolution and great viewing angle screen and be able to show even bigger pictures without having to shovel money into Apples coffers.
wow thanks for the suggestions i tried just pictures, and quick pic last night they seemed to work well. im very interested in fishbowl now.
Fishbowl is awesome. Thanks guys
I have my Galaxy Note now for a couple of months, and I realy like it. Never want to go back to a smaller phone again.
But using it for while now I only pull out the S-Pen when showing of my phone, telling everyone that it's a great feature to have.
So, maybe you guys want to share how you use your S-Pen in daily use?
I mostly use it at home, i guess about 70% of the time. Why don't you use it?
on the go i hardly use it...

And what do you do when you are using it at home?
Actually everything. Browsing, texting... I like the feel of it in my hand and when its sliding over the screen. long time ago i owned a PDA and now i noticed that i missed a stylus.
Maybe you just give it a try and get used to it - if u want to.
I used it couple of times.. When I actually wanted to write something on a paper but did not find it. Then I realized s-pen importance.
It can be very useful while travelling (when you have no piece of paper and want to write/remember something).
Sketching with Sketchbook Mobile
Games like World of Goo
At lunch times or at meetings when there is no paper or pen available to illustrate an idea or to help explain something
As way to talk/pass messages to friends in concerts or nightclubs. It's simpler than physical keyboard and quicker than onscreen one. Especially when a bit tipsy
So yeah, I use it few times a day and its really handy
I hate finger prints on my screen so i use it all the time other than when gaming.
I find it keeps the screen clean when im cooking if im using it for recipes, i also had a PDA back in the day an missed using a stylis.
I can't belive how well it fits in the phone body even though the s-pen so big, the only thing i dont like about it is the name. lol
I do not sketch, but I use it for drawing technical diagrams instead of doing the same on paper. I also use a flowchart type drawing app, and the pen is much better with that. That is for work.
I rarely write text, mainly because my writing is so awful even I cannot easily read it (I should have been a doctor). I do sometimes make quick notes with it rather than typing, and it is good for adding a note to the calendar instead of dicking with the entry for an event. I find that much quicker, like "drinks 4pm" instead of a couple of dozen clicks.
At home, I often fiddle with my launcher screen (ssLauncher - you can really fine-tune where everything is to 5 pixels), and the pen makes that much easier. I then typically just keep using the pen anyway, because it seems to glide over the glass more easily than my finder. I have very oily skin, and the peen keeps those prints off the screen.
I use it very often for shopping lists, and for other situations where I'd use a pen and paper. Last week for example I was out with one of my gfs friends, and she asked me. To remind my gf to give her a call about something. Perfect for the spen.

hardly ever used it, only for doodling, i dont see the need for the pen for my uses of the phone
The only thing I use the S-Pen for is annotating pictures and screen-shots. I think my handwriting is incompatible with this device

I use the pen all the time. I much prefer it to using fingers unless I'm on the move or writing messages. Then I use dual thumbs.
I actually feel like I get more precision with the s-pen, and I like not getting finger prints all over the screen.

I don't use the S Pen much as it is too thin for my large hands however I use my Wacom pen regularly with it to take hand written notes as it is like using a real pen. Cannot work without it now.
As a side note for those of you with messy handwriting, try an app in the market called 7Notes, you will seriously be surprised with its accuracy in recognising your handwriting and converting it to digital text. Once you use it, you will find there's no going back!!! Currently its only in Beta, cannot wait for the full version.

Wow, this Is amazing. I've never used a handwriting tool that's actually worked before. my handwriting Is awful, and this works perfectly. I used it to write this post!
Edit: I've been playing with it for 5 minutes and I've gone back to swiftkey x. It works great, it's just that even the best handwriting recognition is still a bit awkward. Especially when it comes to editing your posts.

i love being able to annotate screenshots, and do so several times per day. this is the main feature that tipped the scales for me away from getting a Nexus.
otherwise, my handwriting is recognized quite well by the software, but i hardly ever bother with that
I don't use it much for writing, I find typing is far quicker and easier. My had writing isn't that bad on paper, but it looks like a child's scribblings on the Note.
I do use it for drawing though, which I'm getting quite good at. And often just for normal usage instead of my finger... no real reason for that, I just sometimes notice myself doing it.
I use it mainly for taking screenshots and to give my fingers a break. Installed this app called Freenote today which seems to be better than S Memo feature-wise. Will be using S Pen more with it from now on.
Also the pen is mightier than the finger when playing games like Fruit ninja.

Hello everyone ?
Sorry for my English with translator
Wear some time thinking about getting a tablet for reading comics. Some recommend the Nook hd + comparing the quality of the screens with the ipad. Some body had occasion compare physically? All I could see so far was through videos where difference is valued, especially in cold tones ipad (I think most of the Chinese tablet I take a similar ipad, graphic processor?) and very warm in nook. For I intend to use, this is a far more important aspect for example whether or not camera.
Although this tablet have a time you think is still currently better option than the offers that come from China, such as Cube u39gt , FNF iFive x2, Pipo M7 or last Ramos i9, who have the same screen size and some like processor graph?
Think this would be an appropriate 4:3. Also weighs less than a 9.7 " almost having the same screen size?
I hope you can understand, and
i hope your answers,
Thank you in advance!

I don't know how it compares with the iPad in terms of color reproduction, gamut, temperature etc. but the resolution is quite comparable.
Resolution: iPad = 2048x1536 HD+ = 1920x1280.
Aspect Ratio: iPad = 4:3 HD+ = 4.5:3 (1.5:1)
Pixel density: iPad = 264 HD+ = 257
The portrait orientation of the HD+ allows me to read magazines and comics very nicely (IMO).
The best thing to do is to go to a store and check it out in person.
And of course you can't the beat the price: $179 vs. $500.
You could buy three HD+ for the price of one iPad.
And I would definitely recommend the HD+ over any generic chinese tablet; the price difference would be negligible.
You would have 1 year warranty and a cheap extended warranty if you wanted.
Plus the HD+ has CM11 support.
I agree with hirent if you can get to the store definitely try it out. I use mine for comics, magazines, and books on a daily basis and I love it.

Hello!
Thanks for the replies ! :victory:
What happens is that I live in a country where there is no physical stores to test the device . I assure you it is really hard to take a decision in this case. Just thank you for recommending me to try it in the store because it makes me feel sure of its quality .
For that reason trying to hear your opinions and see if I could so decide.
I've been looking for weeks and comparing and my final choice is almost Nook hd +
1) screen sizes : between 7.9 " ( a little small) , 9.7" ( does the tablet too heavy) 8.9 " (almost as large as 9.7" but rather lighter )
2) Screen quality : I could indeed observe differences in the screens in photography and video "nook -hd -and -ipad -3 -video -comparison " web " GoodReader " (10:11 minutes and 13:34 ) you can see the differences clearly . The colors are much more warm Nook probably closest to reality. But I can not be completely sure if maybe this is an effect of actual recording or so wondering if anyone had a chance to really compare .
3) Also I would ask if they know if the picture quality is concerned only with the PowerVR SGX 544 graphics processor or the screen also has some special treatment . And if it is all thanks to the processor , then other devices with the same processor would have a similar quality.
4) Somebody weight the device to determine if it matches the manufacturer says 515g ?
Sorry for so many questions, but these are my doubts, before making a choice.
5) The last question is if they know how could do to buy me a new one and send it to Spain , where I live , because I fear that Barnes and Noble besides having no shops here , not doing deliveries . The option that I know would be to find a seller on ebay that makes deliveries to this country.
Thank you so much for your answers,
Greetings !
Ipad air has 9.7" screen size and weights only ~465g. But I wouldn't spend 500$ on it.
Thanks for the suggestion extrem0 currently think is the lightest device with that screen size, but I do not like the price
Hello again
still in doubt
1) think in my case being an international shipment, the total price would be $ 200. It would still be interesting Similar rates versus tablets purchased through aliexpresss? As Ramos Cube u39gt or i9?
2) In my case these would be $ 200 for a tablet Certified Pre-Owned. Think it would be a good choice for that price?
I remain very interested in this tablet but I would like to hear the opinion of people who have tried some Certified Pre-Owned.
I hope your answers
thanks
I had an iPad 3 and have an HD+, and the comic reading experience is very similar. A single page view of a comic fits the HD+ screen almost perfectly whereas on the iPad's 4x3 screen it had borders. The dimensions of the presented page are almost exactly the same, and as has already been mentioned, the pixel density is also almost identical between the two as well. I've used the official Marvel app, Marvel Unlimited (which is actually finally a decent app with the most recent updates!), and ComicRack HD, and they all look wonderful on the HD+'s screen. For the price it's probably the best comic reader tablet out there IMO.
Hello,
thank you very much for the reply. Sorry for the question but what is the meaning of the acronym IMO?
You also have a Certified Pre-Owned? Or know someone to compare?
In this forum say that no differences were seen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515800
But elsewhere say that all depends on what I had before. The useful life of the battery, ports, etc ...
Obvious, but thought I would have some quality control, because the price is very similar to a new one.
Some questions and doubts:
How long it takes to discharge the battery? And how long it takes to load? Think the weight is 515g posted real? The can weigh?
Sorry for so many questions!
Thank you very much again!

IMO = in my opinion
Certificate-like new has the same quality as new one. Done discussion here. Nobody could be 100% sure about a device. Theoretically they are the same.
I have both and both of my devices are good, if this is what you want to listen.
battery usage all depends on your usage. I usually charge mine once every two or three days.
Let is be the end of story. Except for not having a camera, nook hd/ hd+ is the best 9 inch tablet you could get for the price.
Don't compare it to ipad, unless you want to pay $300 more.If so, don't ask for nook
The end.
I have both iPad Air (got as a gift) and Nook HD+. iPad Air looks good, is fast and lighter compared to Nook. However when you start using the devices I like Nook HD+ below are the reasons.
1. Screen is good when reading a long webpage or a book or magazine.
2. It has a SD card option so that I can store all the PDF, Movies.
3. No need to install the crap iTunes on my laptop.
4. I can side load apps by downloading apk.
5. We can run custom ROM. I am currently running CM 11, which is amazing.
6. Price
up, for reading comics The nook HD+ is probably the best cheap choice. The battery is very good. and it has SD card. Altho I do prefer a 10 inch screen since some comics the words are really small.
Hello!
Thank you very much for all the answers!
laofan:
I guess Certificate like-new is the same as Certified Pre-Owned? Or what you mean is that they are different things. Sorry for my confusion. Remember that my English is with translator
sanyaing:
I agree with everything!
I do not include an iPad in my options for price. But if any tablet china, despite the difference in quality.
The B&N warranty 'm not sure I will be useful, for shipping costs if you were to send from Spain.
rookiegenius:
I think it always would use the tablet horizontally, so that the font size is larger. I think a lot of comics have too small letters in vertical format.
For that reason, I think perhaps it would be better, in my case, the horizontal 16:10. In both cases 3:2 and 16:10 horizontal, the page would be cut. 16:10 screen would be a little wider and therefore the letter would be a bit bigger. I'm talking between sizes: 9 " 3:2 ratio Nook hd+ and some other 8.9" ratio 16:10.
Maybe screen sizes 9.8" - 4:3 ratio and 8.9 - 16:10 ratio would be similar?
I doubt too if using the Nook hd+ horizontal, logo, would be annoying.
Sorry for the length of the message and my english with translator

If you're looking for a good reader for android, I would HIGHLY recommend ComittoN. I've found it to be one of the best readers, and it supports network shares so you don't have to keep transferring to your MicroSD or syncing to dropbox or some other method.

if you mean the n logo, its actually 'dead' space, and the n is the home button. I actually find it comfortable to hold that side in horizontal mode to prevent accidentally hitting the screen.

My local IP address is 192.168.1.101 and I have my comics for shared as /Comics/
So the network location/host would be 192.168.1.101/Comics
Do you have a password on your windows user account?
If you do, you will use that Info to log in, if not leave it blank.
To share the folder, right click it and go to properties, click the Sharing tab and press Share to open a new window.
If you have a user/pass for windows, click Share, otherwise click the down arrow and select Everybody and click Add, then Share.
Click the Apply button to close out of the windows.
If You DON'T have a user/pass and you're on Vista/7/8, you have to disable password password protected sharing.
Right click the network icon and Open Network and Sharing Center, then click Change Advanced Sharing Settings on the left.

To read files from your computer, you would have to open ports in the router and connect via your (non-local) ip. For on-the-go reading, I'd suggest grabbing a few from the network, or copying to microsd. It is, unfortunately, the easiest way to go.
I tried in a mall the samsung note 8 and was disappointed by how the pages of a paper book where not clearly taken.
I do not know if is the autofocus or the small distance. I basically use a lot this feature and find annoying while I maintain the page open with one hand to make a photo if the zoom does not work properly. Usually I block the book and click on the screen so to take a photo. Does someone has recommendations? I wrote here because on the internet cannot find nothing, and for me is an important use case
I take lots of photos of documents and pages of books and magazines, and they are ok
well no actually, I bought it, best device ever, and the pics are spectacular, but still if i maintain with one hand the book, and make pics with the other hand some are great others like that
maybe I move my hand while I am doing the picture, maybe I should find a way to stay with the phone immobile

Dumb question, why do you take pics of books and how does this work with Samsung, ?

a bit of a low light enviroment for auto mode and text but just tap the screen once where the text is and then take a picture.
In pro mode there are tons of other adjustments. try to use the software to adjust the focus functionality and lightning to take photos on the go. once you find the right mix, use that mode from now on for those particular tasks.
try AF area multi in pro mode

for personal use. I have thousands of books (paper) and thousands of ebooks. Once in a while I need to bring some pages with me, as you would do some photocopies in the old times

you were right, the problem was my hand that was moving. If I remain with the arm locked, the pictures are perfect, far better than the dozens of devices i had so far.

to press the screen is something i cannot afford, because with one hand I maintain the book. Anyway the pictures are perfect without touching any pro setting. The problem was I did not maintain my arm immobile when I was shooting.
just did one hundred pages really clear, book with 8 and also 7 fonts size, big format, every pic two pages. Amazing

Ok, do you also use the optical character recognition ? Never used this myself but just curious.

I used optical character recognition just to play and works quite well, independently by the language
But I do not need it, just want to read something that for various reasons I do not have as digital.
its a shame that the camera voice control option cant also do other actions:
"zoom"
"focus"
"flash"
etc

true good intuition, would make perfectly sense considering one hand use
