I bought a LG optimus 2X few days back. Everything works fine except one, whenever i am trying to open a webpage using 2g or 3g its saying no internet connection where as all the other apps like android market, gtalk, gmail, facebook, skype etc.. which uses internet woking fine.
But i could able to open all webpages in wifi. Hence it may be a case that some settings are blocking the internet use by browser while in 2g or 3g which i don't know.
I have tried with default browser and opera mobile browser as well but no luck.
Can someone please help me to fix this issue???
Can you post your apn settings?

how do we get MMS without the t-mobile g1 data plan?
I dont think its possible. I guess you can get Chomp SMS and pay for it there which could be cheaper but i dont know if it supports MMS...
i cant really help you . but i can say that its worth the 20 or 30 bucks for the internet plan
Agreed with G-Fetus. Plus you can always tell people to e-mail it to your gmail and you can download the attachment from there.
ok this worked for me...
Goto
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> T-Mobile US
Make sure you go into T-mobile US and not any other settings.
Change the settings to the following:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: wap.voicestream.com
proxy: 216.155.165.050
port: 8080
Username: not set (delete everything in this field)
Password: not set (delete all here too)
Server: not set (delete the *)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: not set
Restart your phone. Now your MMS should work.
*Troubleshooting*
1. If you’re having trouble still, go into mobile networks and enable ‘data roaming’ and ‘use only 2G’
- I've tried this and it seems to be working for me.. this is the only solution i know..

does this still work? i heard t-mobile blocked G1s from using this
it still works on mine..
I tried that on my phone because I am having the same problem. Doesn't work for me. Although I didn't edit the T-Mobile US APN, I made a new one, if that somehow matters.
If anyone has figured out anything on how to get mms messages to work without a data plan please let me know. Everything else on my phone works perfectly.
I figured my new friend [girl] had sent the picture to my gmail instead of text. I'd like this to.
everything works great when i'm on Wifi, but when i'm not, almost every time I try to load an https address in the Browser, I get a blank screen instead of the content I was expecting. I don't live in a 3G market, so I cannot test that.
I don't see any strange errors server-side (Apache httpd is what i've tested).
nothing jumps out at me in logcat...
I'm currently using CyanogenMod 3.9.2, but have experienced this for a while under many different builds.
I have tried a wipe as well as blowing away /data/data/com.android.browser and it doesn't make a difference.
has anyone else experienced this or overcome?
Coming from a web-developer background, I might have your solution
Https sites have enhanced security codecs (hence the "s") that basically encrypt anything being sent in/out, to ensure web browsing security. Sites like Amazon, online banking sites, and so on use Https.
In order to succesfully use it, your browser has to confirm it as a secure website and then adapt its encryption (after all, what good is a secure website when it fails client side?). My guess is, EDGE networks don't send all that data, because it is a good amount of data depending on the site. WiFi can send it fine though because it can handle greater amounts of traffic.
Try your alternate browsers on the market, like Opera Mini or Steel...see if anything changes. What sites are you trying to access? Smaller time websites that haven't adapted Android will see the special Android browser marker and not be able to send security data because it doesn't know how to, but your WiFi comes up when you use that instead, and it'll show up as a regular computer address.
Now that I think about it, the latter reason is probably the cause XD.
ya... Opera mini works ok for the most part. but that makes sense -- all the work is done on Opera's servers and then sent back to the client on the phone. this isn't really a solution for me as opera doesn't offer much of the native functionality (cut/paste, etc)
Steel doesn't work w/ https even over wifi -- it redirects to a google search for the address.
i'm thinking the issue has something to do with the OpenSSL session hitting a memory full message and some background gets killed, but it doesn't make sense that it works consistently over wifi.
I've tried on many different servers (some of which I manage) and can't see anything in the error logs server side -- only the request in the access logs.
just an update to this...
I finally got 3g in my market and the symptoms are identical. the only difference is it times out faster, so I don't think it has to do with SSL overhead being too much for the network to bear. something else is going on.
frustrating!
I was having this problem for a while too and I think I figured out the cause.
At some point back in the Cyanogen unstable rom threads there was a post advising how to set the APN settings for TMO US, which included setting an IP address and port number for the Proxy and MMS Proxy.
You should clear the Proxy and Port fields, if you happened to set those. Once I cleared those (I left the MMS settings as advised), SSL seemed to work on EDGE/3G again.
So what I have now is:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>

Yo gang, im pretty new with the nexus, im coming from a sprint hero. I recently switched to TMO. I just broke root into my nexus for the first time last night as i had it only a week. I played around and finally decided to root it. My first rom is the evil desire port. Ive been searching all morning about what settings go in the phone to make my tmobile data service work but i cant seem to find anything. I check the informative threads but they only say how to root and what not. Can anyone point me to a link that will show me what data or settings i have to input to make this rom turn my internet back on. It would be greatly appreciated.
I would assume that you have to add the APN for T-Mobile.
Do a Google search for "t-mobile usa apn settings" and follow the first link to go to a T-Mobile support forum.
Taken from another forum...
After updating to these ADP(Android Dev Phone) roms;
JFv1.51_CRB43-ADP.zip
cyanogen_JFv1.51_CM3-ADP.zip
update-cm-3.6.7.1-signed.zip
I found I could not login in to my tmoblie us data account, and after verification failed, by clicking Menu and checking my default APN Access Point settings, I was able to sign in again.

hey thanks alot man i appreciate it
Hi, I noticed that I dont have a 3G sign on top of my phone so I'm wondering how I can get it. I bought my Galaxy in Canada from Bell and unlocked it to be able use it with Rogers network. I have done nothing on my phone such as flashing or installing roms. Thank you
You have to add your carriers apn on settings under mobile settings. It took me a while to figure that one out.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I also have an i9000M on rogers. Go to Setting > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names and then create a new APN. I used these settings:
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: <not set>
MMSC: hxxp://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302 (retrieved from SIM)
MNC: 720 (retrieved from SIM).
Authentication type: <not set>
APN type: Internet + MMS
These work for me and allow MMS text messages as well. Just change the 'hxxp' to 'http' under MMSC. I had to put the xx to get around ban on link posting.
thank you, for the name of the APN do I just name it Rogers? or does it matter?
Yeah, I just named it Rogers. I dont think it matters what it is.
if you are still having trouble you should read this
