Emulators for testing roms - LG Optimus 2x

hi, any buddy knows any emulators for roms, i just want to test roms like cm7, miui before flashing to phone, plz help me.

I shouldn't imagine so as emulators like youwave are generic and roms are specific to a certain device.

make a nandroid backup
flash the rom
test
restore your backup if you're not satisfied
repeat
It doesn't take that much time

Okay....how do I make this work

After browsing through most the mods, hacks and updates.....I have know idea which Custom ROM works the best and had a few ideas....
at first i wanted to run these mods....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655
then I visited the ROM page and felt like all of them were good upgrades from the stock wing...
so heres my question....If i want to get a ROM do they come with the mods in the link above meaning I'm good
I realize the risk of flashing, should I do it on my refurbished (factory) phone?
And which ROM is the sleekest and stable of all of them
thanks for looking
-Paul
well.. to cook your own ROM, there are some utils and post... use the SEARCH button and the correct words to get your task done
- You can flash your device safe, but you have to read advices to avoid bricked devices (for example, you cant flash anything in a 1.xx.xxxx device)
- stable and sleek ROM, you'll have to try by yourself

Overclocking on normal 2.1?

Okay. As you can see by my post count I'm a newb to ALL of this, so please be patient.
I just recently, within the last week maybe, got a HTC Hero. I immediately updated to 2.1. (No custom rom or anything, my device is not even rooted.)
I honestly do not want a custom rom. To me they almost all look ugly and I have a feeling they're not as stable. Either way, I don't want one.
I do, however, want to overclock my phone. Is there a way to do this without getting a custom rom that removes/adds stuff?
Thank you.
To overclock, you have to root.
I think Jus10o has posted a flashable kernel that allows overclocking on any Sprint-based 2.1 ROM, including stock, but I am not sure. I imagine he'll chime in if he has.
Just out of curiosity, what is that you don't like about custom ROMs? Fresh ROM (not FreshToast) is basically the official ROM made more stable. A lot of people have a lot more problems with the official ROM than they do with custom ROMs, or so my experience has gone. Sprint and HTC fix problems once a year (it seems..) where as the devs here hop on problems with their ROMs instantly. Most get things fixed the same week they're noticed.

Okay. Thank you. I suppose my next step is to look at how to root my phone and finding that kernel..
As far as custom ROMs go, I don't see a need for one. The ONLY issue I have with my phone is the occasional lag, which I would hope to fix with an overclock. Not even sure that would help it, but I want to try it anyway.
Thanks for the help.

[Q] Some questions about Surpressed ROM 5.0

Hello there,
I have been looking around on the forums for some few weeks looking for an answer and since I didn't found one yet I decided to make an account.
Apart from that, I got three questions:
-Could anyone post some pictures of the standard 5.0 surpressed ROM? I'm wondering if it is possible to customize the menu buttons and others to something more stylish, like the homescreen and look I got now on my CM7 (in the attachment). Without having to use a launcher, to save battery.
-Is there any guide on how to go from CM7 to 5.0 without losing apps and texts (I know it is with SMSbackup and Titanium Backup) but I just want to be sure.
-Are there any huge problems on the 5.0 ROM? I'm fine with CM7, only thing making me very annoyed is that I can't have my WIFI on and doing nothing for half an hour my telephone just locks up without there being anything to do then a hard reset.
Thanks a lot already!
Hi, i will try to answer your questions.
firstly welcome to forum.
- surpressd rom is based on lg stock rom. so, you can not change any icons from system if you dont know what you do. you must use iconchangers or change icons from system folder...
you wanted screenshots but there is a video by koila33
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663940
- you can take your apps back ups with titanium or stg else. but it sometimes gives errors. and your data can be lost. but mostly it success.
i can give you an advice... if you happy with your cm, take a nandroid backup with cwm. so you can return this system if there will be a problem...
-if you fine with your cm, i said before, take a nandroid backup and try surpressed. it is stock rom mod. smooth and fast. but not more customizable.
which cm7 version are you using. i have no issue expect camera. no stucks, no reboots, no wifi issues...
i think we can fix your cm

Would be amazing if it could be fixed !
Added a picture of my phone in the attachment.
Also need some help on fixing my CPU-'on demand' mode, the stock one downclocking to 300MHz rarely downclocks (although nothing is running), using other programs like setCPU make my phone lagg very hard.
Edit: Seems like version 62 from the nightlies.
heyyy it is nightly and very old build. 8.02.2012...
there are a lot of releases of nightly after this...
try to use fixed versions

Updating goes like this:
Put it on my phone on the SD card as update.zip and just run it, or should I wipe stuff first?

Custom roms?

I require some help to choose a custom rom for my phone, so I wanted ask anybody about your experiences with roms.
The reason is that I really lost oversight over the amount of roms. I currently installed arragis cusmoized vanir rom and while it has more features than I can remeber to make use of, I wonder what other roms offer.
I mean it would be awesome to know whether other roms are stable and useful for everyday use. So far, I can confirm that with vanir rom, everything runs good and smooth, the phone sleeps good enough and much longer sleep time than on Stable CM release 10.2, the Voice search also works and the camera is from 4.3 and there is transparency for status bar.(Finally! I always wanted that).
I really want to know if there are roms out there better than my current one. However,I am reluctant to try them all out because I am weary of flashing and reflashing 500x times and risking losing my IMEI, which then would cause me to spend even more time. So please, any successful rom user out there, please tell me your experience.

If none of the current data ia needed, then a nice clean full format to the New bootloader would be a good choice.
Use the AIO tool in the Developers section to format the phone to default new bootloader. you can follow the choices to install recovery, and download your choice of Rom.
The most stable and fully featured out of the newer roms are only the CM 10.1 roms. anything made later have camera and bluetooth issues.
Pengus has his own, Look ma no hands. its an excellent rom. along with his M1 kernel. its the latest you'll get to fully stable.
If you'd like more features, Tonyp made a T-build version 5 currently. use the same kernel from pengus again M1. and give that a go if you like customizing a bit more.
there are later roms. and they are all great, but they are still in development, with many bugs still to really work out.
you can also go Stock and try out the few very well made custom stock roms i believe there are 3 different dev's that have done work on ICS and did an excellent job of it.
Or you can stay on the old boot loader, and stick with GB if you really want to stretch out the battery life, and have every feature working.
the first few pages of the dev section would have everything I've just mentioned. but you could also use the Search for anything your having trouble with.
PM me also if you need more detailed assistance.

New battery can do miracles. LG stock battery is highly recommended.
