In my brand new HTC Vivid my 802.11n wireless network is not showing up. Did anyone else run into such problem by any chance?
Thank you
AT&T advised to return the phone.
The voice quality of the calls was awful as well. HTC Vivid sounded very ringy/digital and on the other end person sounded muffled. Will be switching to Skyrocket.
sounds like you had a faulty handset

i've looked through the htc forums and found other people with this same issue (the Unlocked HTC Diamond thread, http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1458316/Ulocked+HTC+Diamond ) but haven't been able to figure out a solution, nor has anyone had much response. I have tried calling the US HTC support number, but since it hasn't been released in the US, the guy just said try hard resetting (which I'm trying now), or call back when the RMA dept is open in the morning (@()#*&[email protected])(#$&!!!!!).
All my out going calls, people say my voice is very raspy, or sounds like it's "digitized" or that I was a heavy smoker -- I recorded my self on a spare phone I had and I agree -- the voice is all messed up.
Is this a known problem? Is it something that needs to be fixed by getting a replacement under warranty? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm having the same problem, I'm trying now withthis, manually set the gsm freq. to 850/1900. Last 5 calls have been succesful. Still testing.
HTC Voice Problem
Yes, I have the same voice quality problem. i spoke to the HTC Costumer Service. They said some Bullcrap about the Frequencies being different cuz its not released in USA yet. I bought enough Phones that wernt released in US and i never had this problem.
THIS IS A VERY MAJOR PROBLEM for $650 phone. and HTC is being no HELP.
yah... i'm going to see how it goes w/the RMA dept tomorrow... ugh, what a pos (phone wise)
same problem here. I am disappointed but yet glad I am not the only with this problem. Maybe we can get it resolved.
what carrier are ya'll using w/the diamond? I'm using ATT... perhaps it is a carrier frequency issue?
tmobile USA, only gsm 850/1900 works here.

My captivate is always fluctuating between the edge and 3g network. My iPhone never had these fluctuating issues like this phone and ive tested both in the same area's. Is there an explanation or possible fix to have a stronger signal while on AT&T's 3g network?
Short answer, no.
If before you had a solid 3G connection in the area you're having trouble with now, then chances are it will return. Data connections are typically like that and although it may have something to do with the Captivate itself, there's nothing you can do there either. As far as I know, there haven't been any major connection issues with the Captivate. Nothing like Antennagate (The iPhone 4 hassle), at least. AT&T will release updated software and radios in the future, these typically come with better connections. Best recommendation I can give you would be to buy a Wi-Fi router, if you can.

Thanks for the info I already talked to AT&T and they said it should be replaced. So i contacted Amazon wireless, who i upgraded through and they are sending out a new one. I hope this fixes the issue cause this phone is sweet and setting everything up all over again always sucks. Thanks again

Yes you most probably have a defective unit, it happens don't worry, the new one, will not have 3g issues i assure you.
Does anybody else with this phone get a hissing sound during calls.
When I am on a call and the other person talks there is a slight hiss sound in the background when they speak. As soon as they stop speaking the sound completly disappears and there is complete silence. Is this normal? As coming from an iPhone I do not remember this. I think the complete silence after they have spoke probably makes it more noticeable.
Thanks.

Anybody?
I'm not sure hissing is the right description. Maybe a slight interference sound will be more apt, but only when the other person speaks.
It might be the network perhaps. I'm with Three UK.
Another user reported this issue last week. I forgot who he/she is and I'm not sure if he/she got it solved. Try replacing the device it's under warranty anyways.
Someone else reported this but the problem went away for them after first few calls

Seems to be the case with me as well.
After my post I have received several calls and have not noticed the sound so fingers crossed.
I do not get this sound when in a phonecall.

I've only had the phone since Tuesday and had this yesterday on two calls. Today its gone?.. The hiss was only when someone spoke the other end. As soon as they stopped so too did the hiss. Sounds like some sort of duplex mechanic.
I have also noticed this. However I believe that this is a network issue rather than a phone issue as I was experiencing the exact same thing when using my iPhone 5 last week. I have only noticed this though since switching from Vodafone to EE.
Hisseling noise during calls

I have a same problem but the problem is noticeable on UMTS, 3G or LTE network. GPRS or GSM networks fine and no sound. Phone replacement did not bring anything but now less bright display

Hi Herzlich and jovep
Are your phones brand new and what network you on.
I am on 3 and have the same problem. The hissing is only on outgoing calls. Incoming are completely clear. I think this makes people think that its intermittent or gone.
Would be interesting to know your software versions too. I am on 1.28.771.10
Thanx

Hi,
I have changed 4 set so far and all having same problem. It is on 3G , LTE network and especially if your provider (vodafone) has HD Voice enables. I and many others experiencing the same problem. I am going to replace my HTC one with S4.
If you can switch to GSM then its better. Then you will not notice any Hiss sound.

I am wondering if its a software issue. If 3 would release the 1.29 update that might help. Failing that I might have to S-OFF and install international update.
How do I switch to GSM manually. It regularly changes to 2G when it loses the 3 signal and piggy backs onto another carrier (i think Orange).
Regards
AM3100
I have finally again rooted my phone and installed international version but no success. On 3G and 4G same hissing sound. Then I installed Google Version and guess what.... Its gone.
But Google version seems so ugly that I preferred back to Hissing
Its software issue but HTC is denying it as a problem.

Hi Herzlich
When you installed the google version did you install a new radio too or was it just the rom.
Can you describe the rooting process in detail please?

Would you mind sharing how you did the rooting?
Which website did you use for your procedure?
I rooted my HTC Desire a few years back but that with V3 one click rooting. Is there a similar process for the HTC One?
Thanx in advance

Its realtive easy. In Android Development thread, there is a sticky thread about this. Download Easy Root , One Click Method and follow the procedure. you have to register at HTC Website to get your boot unlock code and then its simple.
I had a good success with REVONE as well. Quite easy and handy but I will recommend you to go with Easier one. If you have any questions, ask
But believe me, custom ROMS will not solve the issue as not all users are having this problems. THat Problem is arising with some certain conditions. Like VODAFONE and 3G network. With other network no hissing.
Google Edition is really looks orphan compared to this one.
So even after having 4.2.2 update... from HTC ... Hissing is still there.
Only on outgoing call and only on 3G or LTE network and only on Vodafone Germany.

Hi Herzlich
So you have even tried 4.2.2, the latest version of Android released by HTC and it still hisses. I didnt realise that you had attempted 4.2.2. Its only just been released. I doubt that 3 will release it here in the UK anytime soon.
What have HTC done that makes breaks Vanilla Android and causes the hissing. Is it called optimisation
Maybe some dev could compare the code and identify the mod?
By the way, is the Easy Root thread the one started by Doomlord back in 2011? If not would you mind posting a link.
I was also looking at the rooting kit by Hasoon2001but I wasnt sure which version I should dowload as they seem to be for the USA (ie, AT&T etc).

Hi All,
Well I recently purchased the HTC One and have been playing around with it for weeks now. I had the HTC EVO 4G LTE before. Well I am very disappointed. I know Sprint is a terrible network but it just doesn't make sense so I wanted to see if anyone else in my area or just in general is having the same terrible reception. I live up in the Northwest of Vegas and with my EVO I had perfect 4G reception with around 12-20Mb a sec. Now, the HTC One in the same area barely gets one bar. When I travel around town it usually is only on 3G and hardly ever on 4G. I have updated the PRL and Profile several times through the days and still nothing.
I am currently running the Viper One ROM and another issue that drives me crazy is when I use the built in hotspot (part of the ViperOne ROM), I can't get any internet when I am on 4G, I have to go in and set the network to only CDMA to actually have it work which then is slow as hell.
I really like this phone but this has gotten to the point where I want to throw it against the wall. I know they both have different radios and it seems the radio in the One can barely penetrate walls as well. Once I enter a store, my reception drops or I get no data at all.
I have tried a bunch of ROMs and have also reset the phone a million times, it is now unlocked and rooted.
Any advice or thoughts would be great.
Thanks!

With the evo the reception that the status bar displayed was the voice signal and the HTC one with the 4.3 upgrade they switched it to data as far as I know so that would explain the drastic differences in reception. As far as LTE connecting automaticly my phone seems to pick it up everywhere where my friend with his gs4 picks it up

I just upgraded the firmware and the bars display correctly. I just installed the hotspot hack and now my bars only display around 1 bar at my house. Strange.
I also just tested the hotspot on speedtest.net and only get around 2Mb on 4G. Before I installed it I had the Wifi Tether app by Treve and I was getting 6Mb. The only problem is I had to use it as an Ad-Hoc which my tablet and PS3 does not connect to.
Hi I'm in a Nexus 6 on Verizon my cabin is in weird signal area 4G is here but spotty. 3G is on an extended network using US Cell towers. Problem is I can't talk back to people I can hear them but they can't hear me. Previous to this I had a Droid Maxx HD when Volte came out I gave it a try not only was there no one to talk to but it did the same exact same thing the nexus is doing. I couldn't just turn it off I had to remove it from my phone. Then it worked fine. Point is doesn't the Nexus come already capable and if Verizon offers it will be activated on the Nexus. I believe this is the problem is anyone on an extended network having this problem? If I am correct there is no way to fix it at least until Verizon gets the Nexus and even then they probably won't admit it especially since I bought my phone from Moto. Thanks.
