ics vs ics. Which is the best and better? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guy pls help me this. Which is the best and better to use??? Team ICSSGS RC 4.1 or teamhacksung (BUILD 15) plssss helppplp???
send by DickyLikeToCrazyOnPhone
I using teamhacksung (BUILD 15)

For what i'm understand, icsgs is more vanila than team hacksung... teamhacksung is for cyanogen mod, so more customizeable...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

Whatever anyone suggests as the 'answer' to this, surely you could just flash them both and work it out for yourself?
For what it's worth, I've been using OneCosmic's and it's excellent (RC3.1). Totally usable as a "daily" ROM. Though the lastest RC4.1, I cannot install it without Wifi issues - however, ymmv.

They are both the best and simultaneously the absolute worst!!!
Why don't you try both out, and let me know which one is best???
Why are we using so much punctuation!?!?!?!?

Teamhacksung
I am finding myself going back to teamhacksung build. For some reason it is given me the best battery life. Flashed it on my wife's phone and she got 3 days out of her phone.

Also I think teamhacksung (currently Bild 15) has the best overall performance

using "teamhacksung (BUILD 15)" for 2 days and everything ok.

somewhat biased view and never looked back after teamhacksung ics build 15.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium

I'm currently using Team rc4.1 and I've been using all the previous versions for everyday purposes, the only problem I've been having is my lockscreen and it has already been resolved.
It's working more fluidly than Gingerbread ever did before the ICS roms.
So I strongly recommend it.

Most important fixed in ICSSGS is from CM9 (by teamhacksung), most fixed to get ICS working was done by onecosmic and pawtip (pawtip is from teamhacksung).
So what? CM9 is the original source of their success, but they're targeting to a more vanilla AOSP (but with custom kernel) so....you just choose one, CM9 with many CM custom or a vanilla AOSP with some CM backport

Hey
I was using onecosmics v3.1 until they releasd v 4 IT had a wifi issue so i thought i will try teamhacksungs and i have to say that The battery life is much better but both Roms are for daily use i think
This for those who dont know wich Rom they should take

Team ICSSGS RC 4.1..........Its the best ROM you could ever expect

I've used both and have ICSSGS installed right now with Apex Launcher. Working awesome!
Hacksung was okay but I gave up at Build 11 or 12. Too many random reboots.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

Off the bat, I'll admit to never having installed one of Teamhacksung's roms, so my opinion will be very much biased.
Having said that, I've been using the TeamSGS (formerly onecosmic) as my daily rom since RC 2.1. 2.1 worked very well, and many issues were resolved in 3.0 and 3.1 (although I never actually flashed 3.1 because I had solved those issues myself). Then came RC 4, which had some serious WiFi/data issues which have been resolved in 4.1.
I've been on 4.1 with Devil kernel for a three days now, and it is a very usable rom. I find it to be quite smooth and fast (though a touch laggier than 3.0 but not enough to make the experience less pleasing). I can very much recommend this rom for daily use.

.
..im using drZMIUIv4_beta-8.1 in im loving it very fast , multilanguage , MIUI i love miui and all advantages from ics and miui honestly the best , and i tested all xda posted ics roms for I9000

I think the build of teamhacksuns´s is better than the Team ICSSGS. Perfomance is much better and has more costumizacion.
Sorry for my bad english!

Both are worth to try, try both and you will see the difference which one suits your preferences sometimes other's preferences might not be the same with yours..
so, lastly just try it, no harm at all

[QUESTION]Best ICS from for Galaxy S

I've been away from the forum for a while now and my Galaxy S has been on TeamHacksungs Build 17 for far too long and I recently came to notice now its not only TH with an ICS from and since they stopped producing I just want to ask which ICS from is currently topping now? According to my lifestyle I love using my phone to play online games texting a lot of wifi tethering etc... which one would suit me best? And proposals will be much appreciated.

Either Slim ICS v3.4 or Infinitum v2.2
In my opinion Slim ICS and AOKP are the best. But maybe you can compare it with this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
Team hacksungs builds are now cm9 nightlies....if you're from any team hacksung build just download the latest nightly from cyanogen mods website... i cant post the link here for some reason....you can just flash the latest nightly on your hacksung build...
Elite 10.1 beta + Semaphore 1.0.0 s kernel! I've tried them all, and this is surely the best one out there.
Hi, i'm currently using INFITUM 2.1 with animations that i pulled from V2.0 since i like Rubik Twisted Animations.
it is a very good ROM, a lot of ram.
I think AOKP and the ROMs that based on their are the best ICS rom.
if you don't like AOKP i would suggest you to use Tirimisu+ICE whice is based on CNA and very fast.
im pretty sure that "best rom" questions are banned
thanks for all the replies and apologies if this question of mine was redundant or banned hence my less informity is due to me being absent from this forum for quite a while
Thanks a lot to all who replied

Most stable ICS rom?

Hello
I am trying to flash an stable ICS rom for my brothers phone but I really can't find anyone without major bugs. CM9 = to much bugs, Nyx RC 5.0 is just pure ****, Slim ICS (what the **** is wrong with the font?) So can someone recommend me a nice and clean ICS rom that is stable enough for daily use?
I just installed CM9 today and it works pretty good despite the camera and the radio (and now there are alternatives to avoid those bugs too).

CM9 is sluggish as hell so I wouldn't recommend that either. However I don't really understand your font issue with Slim ICS. It does only have 5 system languages but you can install additional fonts to display languages via the "Updater" app included.
In your case as you've eliminated Slim ICS, I guess ICS333 (Team 3xtr3m3) is probably the best one out there. AOSP based with toggles from AOKP and offers a good balance between performance and battery life, with no bugs I can really tell.
Team-Nyx (RC5) yet the most stable rom for me on ics and its pure AOSP

Actually I find cm9 to be the fastest. I've gotten the highest benchmarks compared to slim ics, aokp, etc. Plus I have a bit more trust on cyanogenmod than aokp. Team nyx is pure ics stock but its really slow. Cm9 all the way for me always.

Hi !
Unfortunately, though ICS is extremely good the Custom ICS has it's quirks !
This is because they are developed without source codes from Samsung and no matter how good they are, at a certain point they show their lack of support which they never received from the manufacturer in the first place and therefore after a few days ( or if lucky, weeks) things don't work properly and needs reboots frequently.
Having ICS is like having a short love affair.
Use Gingerbread or change phones.
Sad fact, but true.
Look at the custom ICS camera and look at the original ICS camera. Do you think that we are going to get all the goodies in the SGS ?
Similarly, there are many great features of ICS which the developers cannot give us.
Time to move on.
Take care.

Hello the most stable ROM was RC4.2 with semaphore 1.1.1
Now I am on RC5 from Team Nyx. It's stable. The only thing that doesn't work is YouTube. Flashing another kernel from Devil (2_0.94) will help.

Hi.
Can you please stop posting these opinions as facts, when the "problems" can easily be fixed. This is a development forum, at least it used to be, and you cannot expect everything to work right out of the box like official stock firmware (even though it does most of the time). It's not like you've been scammed by a car salesman selling you a car without an engine.
No offense intended, but please stop it.

Rom: Elite RC v1.3
Kernel: midnight 202L
Launcher: Apex Launcher with sense4.0 dock
Theme:Sense 4.0 for EliteRom
I can highly recommend ICS333 2.0.1 with Semaphore kernel. Perfectly stable, not one reboot so far. It's fast, simple and works well in every way.
It's all just opinions, try them out

Everybody has his own taste, some people like AOSP, some people like AOKP, some people like CM9 while some people like slim ROM regardless with few bugs ... also there are people here in this forum (like you) who install ROMs incorrectly n find it **** (yes i am pointing to Team Nyx's ROM). When you have tried some of the ROMs, why don't you try all of the ROMs?
p.s. Team Nyx's AOSP is the only ICS ROM I found stable and less battery consuming after slim, this is only my point of view.

[Q] what rom for day to day use?

Hi, I'm quite new here and I'm overwhelmed by the quantity of roms in the developers section. Though I'd like to, I don't have time to try them all out... The only rom I tried and the one I'm currently using is a nightly build of some weeks ago of official CM7, I like it but there are some minor annoyances/bugs, so I'm waiting for first stable release to come out... but I'd like to know, what roms are you currently using that are most stable and appropriate for day to day use?
For example, is the CM9 unofficial faster/more stable than the one I'm using?
I'm also wandering, why not set up a monthly poll where you can vote which rom you're using? This way one could at least see the most popular roms and if he doesn't have a lot of time like me try out only those... Or something similar allready exists and I missed it?
Stock ROM. Install CF root kernel and use smartassv2 governor. It's stable and fast.

You should either use Adrenaline ROM XWKT7 by imbawind, which I must say is really fast and has lot of spacr to install apps as he removed alot. Based on stock ROM
Or
Use Apocalypse ROM by itasoulas which is based in CM 7.2 RC3 by vo-1.
It might have a few bugs, but you prob won't notice it. Is also really fast

i'm using lewa, beautiful n stable.. add the firekernel for longer battery life..
thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
as I thought, everyone has their own favorite, so I guess I'll have to choose 3 or 4 of the most popular ones and try out at least those...
what about the poll idea?
i use joyos with my modification...when i play game full can make battery dead in 6 hour..and if only listen music, social media like twitter can 2 hour (1 day = 6 hour i sleep so can 2 hour)
AFAIK
ROM's that you can consider for daily use is :
CM.7 by vo-1
LeWa
dont use any modified CM.7(LeWa is other thing) or stock based
modified CM.7 = confuse
Stock Based = lame
CM.7 official is lack some feature....well....its minor...but annoying
StockLite 7.1 and use Adrenine engine and set cpu to smartassv2 and sio

Well,it really does depend on your need.
For Eye-candy: CM9 if you don't care about camera preview and bugs
For perfomance: Any CM7/CM7 based rom
For stability and battery life: Stock rom
My preference: Stock based roms
Lewa : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506952
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360889
used both for more than a month, Lewa i think is a bit better!
The myth Or Apocalypse . Personally , i prefer apocalypse . Both roms are great though
So, I tried Lewa, and it seems nice, but not really my thing... Stocklite is amazingly responsive! That definitely seems good for everyday use, though I like some things of CM7 better (the app drawer and more customization in general). Will have to try out apocalypse.
BTW should I try a CM9 or ICS based rom, are there problems then going back to a CM7 or stock based one? I'm using Titanium Backup to restore apps
I would recomend apocalypse rom, very fast andy stable.
Good battery life due firekernel, and gets always updated by his dev., so it has very good support also.

I had say,No,but thats my opinion CM9 should be a bit more stable before a new user like you tries it out.
I think CM9 is the best, I use it
Well I'm using APOCALYPSE rom. Its fast and really stable. I'm a power user and I've gotten about 12hrs out this rom with slightly heavy use.
I've tried others but I've always returned to this rom. I love it. Tried CM9 but its too buggy still. Camera, GPS, battery issues keep it from being a daily driver. Well at least for the time being.

Hmmmmm, asking people on forum can help you, but you should try every ROM you want (every ROM works different on every phone)
U can try too MIUI v4 2.10.19 from @rtfpessoa. (just my small recomendation)
As at the moment, i using stock gingerbread rom as it is most stable. But you could try cm10 jb rom or slim bean, they are quite ok for daily use.

Most posters in this thread probably won't see this because they're too busy swallowing the bait
Why do people keep asking this impossible "... BEST" question?
Answers is at best biased contribution to pi$$ing competition.
The most chaired rom doesn't mean it's THE Best. Actually reveals more about the chairer...
User pattern, preferences, even hardware differences make it impossible to give usable advice.
Every rom is good, every rom is bad.
TS get away with it being a rookie, but the contributors should know better. There is a reason you don't find threads like this - they're closed.
I tested today more for i9000. I think the most stable is 4.0.4 from AOKP and currently a stay here
cyanogen 10 or slim bean are excellent compromises in terms of performance and stability.
Cm10 is the best solution for our phone.
X-Bean 3.0 + Semaphore 2.4.4s running smooth & stable here. Never had reboots, lag etc. Good for daily use.

I used to have stock Gingerbread on my SGS I9000. Then I switched to DarkyROM ICS, which was okay. After a while I came across the SlimRoms website, which was still developing Slim ICS at the time, so I flashed ICS, which was brilliant. Shortly after the Slim team started working on SlimBean, and after reaching a stable version I tried it for myself, a decision I am glad I made.
SlimBean is by far the lightest, fastest ROM I've used so far. Give it a try for yourself and you'll see how amazing, lag-free it is. I'm using version 3.1 with the Semaphore kernel version 2.6.2s.
Hi,
I've flashed many roms on my i9000 : Miui, cyanogen 7, Cyanogen 9, Jelly Bean, ICs..... but for me the best one is the JW8 SAUROM.
Stable, fast, GS3 Theme and a very good battery life !!
Since i am on this rom i don't want to flash another one !
Slim 3.1 with semaphore 2.6
If someone help me i definitely HIT THANKS....
Your question must be more specific, and I'll try to explain...
In my opininon the are only 2 developers team which should be considered, first CyanogeneMod which leads because of it's bigger number of devs (so more supported devices). 2nd is AOKP, which I personally prefer because it's more designale and more good looking, but also very stable. I've tested hardly both, but 5th build from AOKP has best battery life, so I'm never going back to CM, only for new tests, making new statistics etc.
Hope I helped, greetings

The idea of two developers was what I was thinking as well when I was making a decision either to stay on stock 2.3.6 or flash something new. CM9 is more "readable" for me in terms of numbering and Stable/Nightly/Experimental. Even tough I do not understand how come there is a stable version followed by nightly builds.
When watching some videos and screens of AOKP I felt it might be even better but I got confused in the numbering (which of the builds is the most stable as I need a working phone not a phone to be flashed twice a week).
For me the best ROM is SlimBean with Semaphore Kernel!:good:

C-Rom Mix V9 here - it's a near perfect ROM. Stable, everything is where it supposed to be. Very smooth operating. My last phone - XPERIA ARC S was destroyed (and its hardware is superior to that of i9000) - Galaxy - being slower by half is faster when speaking about this system operation. There are some hiccups with number recognition sometimes (like 1/10 phone calls and only till i pick up - so no showstopper for sure ). The camera is limited to just basic functions - but is working perfectly fine. The calendar is more basic than in ICS modded ROM for ARC S. The battery last for a day or less - but here i cannot say if the battery in my phone is just old or is this ROM (i got the phone used and the battery is 2,5 yo). And these are my only complaints - not much I have MUUUUUUUCH more complaints on every other stock/modded rom for Galaxy & ARC S
It's my daily ROM more than a week now.
kisses
