Hello!
First real problem EVER with this phone. Am running Cyanogen's latest 4.1.999 build which has been running fine for the last 2 weeks. Nothing moved or changed recently besides un-installing the iMusic App earlier today. At any rate I had it plugged into my PC via USB, pulled cord out (never had an issue doing this before)... knew I had a couple txts waiting so tried to wake screen... lights came on but black screen (has delayed like this before... wasn't worried yet). Waited, tried pressing menu again then opening keyboard and pressing menu... nuthin. Suddenly a quick buzz and it reboots and I see the T-Mobile G1 screen (STILL not worried at this point since I know Cyanogen 4.1.999 is experimental and to not begrudge a random reboot here and there... HOWEVER... after sitting at G1 screen for a bit it simply fades out and SITS.... doing NOTHING. Black screen... no android logo... but button lights are on. Hit power button I get G1 screen again. What I've tried so far:
1. Removed/replaced battery and reboot - No change.
2. Removed/replaced SIM Card and reboot - No change.
3. Removed SD card and reboot - No change.
4. Wasnt able to at first, but now after leaving battery out for a bit I can boot into Recovery, did a wipe, tried rebooting... it just shuts off and doesnt reboot. Recovery again, tried restoring latest nandroid backup... it said it did, reboot, same thing. Finally tried recovery, then flashing latest HTC recovery build needed for Cyanogen's latest... it started, then screen went dark during the process. Almost like a bum power supply! RANDOM!!
Don't have ADB installed unfortunately... was going to but then I realized since I can't even boot into the OS to enable USB debugging what's the point?
Reasonably saavy here but by no means a coder... ideas?? Help?? Sympathy?? LOL
since you have tried a lot of things already, you may need to flash the rc29 image in bootloader and re-root your phone, if it still will not work after the rc29 flash, then it is hardware related altogether.
RC29?? Couldn'ty I just flash to 1.5 if it came to that?

to unroot you flash the DREAIMG.nbh file because it will overwrite everything.

Try adb, USB debugging is usually on with these modded ROMs. See if you can get a logcat to someone who is much more knowledgeable.
Hold on...not to call you out, but im pretty sure cm 4.1.999 HAS NOT been out for 2 weeks...please clarify...did you flash the newest update THEN had problems?

I am having the EXACT same problem with CM4.2.4. I certainly hope its not hardware, but it sure "feels" like it. Especially when my G1 is even shutting down from the Recovery Menu. I'll try to unroot and see if that resuscitates it.
Another one....
Have a look at my current issue on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582576. Check to see in bootloader mode what your board type is (it states it at the top for those who don't know).
Mine is currently showing an EVT board, which doesn't exist. I've pulled the battery out and am leaving it for a while. It could be a hardware issue, but I'm not sure. I was having the "fading screen" issue and eventually got back to RC7 (when I could get into recovery).
Which recovery are you using?
I'm on a Sprint Hero. I used the universal one-click to root. Titanium Backup to restore my apps after flash. Clockwork's ROM manager for the rest.
Two days ago I decided to flash my first ROM, CM6. When I flashed I got a little carried away, flashed the ROM, gaaps, sprints vvm, the mms fix, and a stable uncapped kernel all at once. Bottom line, it wasn't running quite like I had hoped and I was running out of spare time. Flashed my nandroid backup and was good to go. Everything restored like it was before I started.
Yesterday I found some time and decided to try flasing CM6 again. This time starting slower, with just the cm6 and gapps. Then everything else as needed.
Here's the problem; I can't get to recovery mode. I've tried the "Reboot into Recovery" from the ROM manager. I've tried the power down, power up w/ home key held down. I've tried power up with volume down key then choose recovery mode. I've tried installing rom from sd (this gets me to the point that says it is sending me to recovery to finish installing).
I get three different results, and they seem to apply themselves randomly to my reboots. First, I get hung on the white HTC screen. Second, I get the white HTC screen, the phone gives a vibrate and the screen goes off. Third, I get the white HTC screen, the phone gives a vibrate, it reboots back through the HTC screen and starts up like nothing happened. For the first two, the only way to get the phone back is a battery pull.
I have rerooted with the one-click. Still no luck.
I can restore my original nandroid backup through ROM manager.
I can flash clockworkmod recovery. It is current at 2.5.0.1
Could someone please help me find my recovery mode.
Thank you.
Peace.
Have u just tried holding down power and home it takes like 20 seconds just keep holding them it should pop up and if you hold power down and volume down wen the screen pops up just hit home button and wait it should popup hope this helps good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I have tried both. I have also tried getting to recovery through Clockwork's ROM manager.
Every time my phone tries to get into recovery mode it gets stuck. When I say it gets stuck, I mean one of three things happen. First, the phone hangs on the white HTC screen. Two, the phone gets past the HTC screen, the screen shuts off, and the phone becomes completely unresponsive (when this happens I need to pull the battery to get it back on). Three, the phone gets past the HTC screen, reboots itself and boots right up to the stock sprint ROM(it ignores my request to get to recovery mode).
This morning I tried something new, but still failed. I uninstalled Clockwork's ROM manager. Erased the clockwork folder from my SD card. Reinstalled the ROM manager. Flashed the ClockworkMod recovery. Was successful with getting a recovery, 2.5.0.1 Tried to backup my current ROM. The phone rebooted, gave me the HTC screen, then shutdown and I need to battery pull. After that I tried the Home Key recovery reboot and got the same shutdown.
Does anybody see anything that I have done wrong here? Anywhere. I just want to find my recovery mode. Is there another way to get there?
Please help.
Thanks.
Peace.
Try flashing a different recovery I recommend Darch Star RA 1.7 If you search XDA /hero cdma/ android development you will find a thread called Darch Droid 2.8 go there and on the first page u will find it along with instructions on flashing the recovery if you need help with that just respond here and if I can help I will but hopefully that helps good luck

Trip, I think I love you!
This got me back to where I need to be. I've got my recovery mode back! I'm running a nandroid as I type and I'm on my back to CM6!
Thank you for suggesting something that hadn't been suggested yet.
Peace.

Hey guys,
I have a rooted Nook Color, that was running CM7 (very smoothly to say the least), and now it won't boot. Last time it actually turned on was a few days ago and I turned it off, at that point, and now it won't turn back on.
The really weird part is that if i put in my recovery sd card, it'll boot into recovery just fine. From there I've tried to flash pretty much every rom, take out my recovery sd card and boot.. with no avail (on the booting part).
If anyone knows how to get my nook to power on, i would be the happiest guy ever.
P.S. I've tried the whole 'hold power for 10 secs and plug in to have it turn on' deal, and even that doesn't work.
[EDIT] I found THIS xda page that helps you re-format boot. So if you have the same problem go here.

How is that possible if you can't get it to power back? I burned the clock recovery on it and the rootkit and it won't power on at all to even pick up the files.

Just because the backlight isn't coming on doesn't mean it's not powering on
To the OP: sounds like you broke something in the boot partition. Follow the link japzone sent and see if that fixes it.
A couple weeks ago, I upgraded the ClockworkMod Recovery on my Thrill. A few hours ago, I attempted booting into recovery mode. My phone is now stuck attempting to boot into recovery. It's stuck at the LG boot logo and will not progress to recovery or even into the boot animation for a normal boot. I have tried holding the VolDown+3D to manually boot into recovery, I have tried turning it off and back on, I have tried removing the battery for a few minutes, I've tried removing the battery and SIM card for several minutes and there is no change in status.
I'm using an LG Thrill on a stock GB ROM and the latest ClockworkMod Recovery, installed by latest version of ROM Manager (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en)
If any more info is needed, let me know. The computer I'm using is a Macbook Pro.

Try this. Take out the battery, while the battery is out hold down the 3d button, the volume down button and power button. "While" these 3 buttons are pressed insert the battery. You should see the lg logo flash on for a second or two than off. From this point leave the battery in and try to boot into recovery with the three buttons. (It may boot into recovery right away after you reinsert the battery)

I tried this several times to no avail. No change. The LG logo flashed on and off, but when I tried to boot back into recovery, it didn't boot into recovery. I tried doing it again, then booting normally and still no change.
You may want to try and use the lg flash tool. I had a lot of trouble with the new recovery. Had to revert to on older version.

Sorry never mind i see now u can not get it to boot. You may just have to use the lg flash tool and go back to stock gb. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540163
I had this issue one time also. Go to terminal emulator and type su. See if super user ask to grant permission. If no you may have lost your root. Try and re-root the thing with the Megatron root and reinstall cwm from ROM manger.

Finally got my phone working again. I had to borrow someone else's computer to do it, but hey, at least I have my phone back. I'd rather not reinstall CWM from ROM Manager, because it installs only the latest version which is exactly what bricked my phone to begin with.
Long story short, all's good, everything works. Thanks.
i have the same problem

which kdz is best for my p925 mine originally had froyo v20 something, i only glanced at it the other day before it crashed. thank you in advance
On my droid 4, updated to cyanogenmod 10.x RC2. Glad the screen rotate is working but for the last few days i've noticed I cannot update the phone. It will download the file, start to reboot the phone, but safestrap never loads so the new update doesn't load. I have to hold the power button until it shuts down so I can power it back up into rc 2
If turn off the phone and try and opt myself to go into safestrap, it'll give me the splash screen to hit the button or menu button to go into recovery or contiune but if i hit either option to go into recovery the screen just goes black. It is still on, but doesn't ever load anything and i have to force the thing down.
Is this an issue with safestrap or cyanogen?
*EDIT*
since cyanogen 10/droid 4 has had issues with my addon memory card from the start i figured i'd just try without it in the phone. I was able to get into safestrap. is there maybe an issue with the droid 4 and using addon sd lot, maybe cause it is a class 10 card, only 8GB though? used the card without any issue on htc desire with os, apps, everything running off card.

That's strange. I've never had any issues using safestrap with my sdcard installed. You could always try reformatting the card and see if that fixes it. Just make sure you copy any data off of it that you need before formatting.
