[Q] How to enable voip settings on GB settings? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everybody,
Does anybody know how to enable Gingerbread voip settings? ie. to have voip settings listed under Settings > Call settings?
I have I9001, so if there is need to change framework-res.apk please let me know.
Once I managed to to edit those settings but I can't remember how or from where...
Thank you.

1) get root
2) put android.software.sip.voip.xml to /system/etc/permissions to enable SIP settings (SIP will work only via Wi-Fi)
3) update framework-res.apk if you want to use SIP over GSM/3G:
framework-res.apk:
res/values/bools.xml
config_sip_wifi_only - change value of this from "true" to "false"

I got runnymedemod007 and the xml file is definitely at the right position, but voip doesn't appear. Is there anything that's I'm still missing?

[NEW] Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v3.0 & Using Provisional XML Settings

Just posting it here for those who didn't see Schap's thread in the diamond section here:
To download Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v3.0 go here:
http://www.touchxperience.com/
There are several notable improvement, the greatest of which is that you can export your settings as a provisional xml file. Check it out, and don't forget to donate if you like
Update:
Guess it was posted in development and hacking as well, just not updated in the title. Here's the link for that too:

How to use the provisioning XML feature of Schaps Advanced Config 3.0
By request of JimmyMcGee, our newest moderator here in the Kaiser forum, here are the steps to adding your advanced config settings to your UC for even easier flashing:
1) Open Advanced Config 3.0 and make all of your customizations.
2) Hit done, soft reset, then open Advanced Config again. Click "Menu", and "Export Provisioning XML"
3) Select the location you want your xml file to sent to by clicking the 3 dots next to the detail of the current location.
4) You will have 4 options, name (choose whatever you want), folder (i recommend selecting none), type (select xml), and location (i recommend the SD card). then click "Save" and then "okay"
5) Close Advanced Config, and navigate to wherever you have exported your file to verify that it is there.
6) Open your sdconfig.txt file, and add following line to your UC settings:
XML: \Storage Card\AdvancedConfigSettings.xml
7) Now you will have to flash your next rom it should automatically provision your settings while running the UC.
How To Use XML To Automatically Setup Email
You can follow the the same procedure for provisioning gmail, pop3, imap, & mail2web email accounts. The instructions can been seen here:

You are welcome, i strongly encourage you to look into the feature of exporting a provisional xml file. You can then use this file to customize your settings automatically whenever you flash using UC.

Jimmy asks and he shall receive. I have outlined the steps as best that i can for you. If any of it is unclear i will make corrections in the future to simplify it, feel free to make suggestions. (some steps could probably be skipped, but i will include them anyway):
Note: I would appreciate it if someone would verify this as i haven't had the chance to flash again to test it, and as such haven't been able to verify it. Additionally i already have a cab which configures many of these settings anyway. I have however followed the same procedure for provisioning my gmail, pop3, imap, & mail2web email accounts. The instructions can been seen here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2532214&postcount=1015
I will update the first post of this thread as well to help out those who would like to take advantage of this very simple and helpful procedure for us chronic flashers.

[Q] build.prop question

What command is to set default messaging tone in build.prop if anybody knows?
Thank you in advance
You can't set a ringtone on build.prop. If you can't set on your phone, try an app to do.
e.g. market.android.com/details?id=com.herman.ringtone&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5oZXJtYW4ucmluZ3RvbmUiXQ.
You can choose from your music files and trim it with this app..
you did not understand me, i know how to set message tone, i just want to make default it before i even install my rom in build.prop, like it is for notification
e.g.
ro.config.notification_sound=Notification.ogg
That's what you can pre-define in build.prop
Code:
ro.config.ringtone=ringtone.ogg
ro.config.notification_sound=notification.ogg
ro.config.alarm_alert=alarm.ogg
ro.config.cal_notification=missedcall.ogg
ro.config.msg_notification=sms.ogg
Instead of OGG files you can also use MP3 - of course the file you define has to exist in the corresponding sub directories under /media
B.Jay that is what i was looking for, thank you button pressed

[MOD] Enabling Hidden Features like Hide NFC and Call Recording [MOD]

This is absolutely not my work. I pulled and tested the following edits from here. I've been looking for this information for a while now and only came across it by chance. Big thanks to tiboric for putting the information together!
I have also tried some of the CSC apps out there that try to help. I didn't find any that worked if anyone knows of some that work post and let me know. I'll edit this OP but for now if you want something that works, this is the way to go!
This is not my work, just sharing.
To enable these you will need root, a root explorer and text editor.
Simply navigate to system/csc/Features.xml and add the corresponding line to the end of the file but before the very last few lines that say </feature> and </Samsung>
(if this file does not exist, create the csc folder in system and a txt file within it then change the name to features.xml and add the correct lines and save) if this does not work you can try the same method with Others.XML in the same folder
*Make sure you make backups of the stock files in case there are issues.*
