[Q] Internet Calls - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Have just come from a Desire HD to a Velocity 4G.
I noticed (and was surprised with a Telstra Stock Rom) that internet calling is available. However it is WiFi only on the Velocity.
Is this the same on the OS roms? Anyone know of a custom rom with it on there or should I just be looking for some good sip software?

Question for Motorola Milestone users on Vodafone New Zealand....

Hi guys, just a quick question for you Motorola Milestone users that use Vodafone's network in New Zealand.
First off, I know that Vodafone NZ does not support Milestone. Only Telecom XT supports it. However, Vodafone does support and sell Milestone 2, so I don't see why this couldn't be possible.
Anyway, I'm currently using Android v2.1 (Eclair). I flashed the New Zealand v2.1 SBF on it, and it works fine and all except it's obviously for Telecom XT, therefore I can't get my Vodafone SIM card to work properly. If I change the network from 2G to 3G, then it works. I don't get full signal bars (4 bars), but I get 3 bars most of the time which is pretty stable so it's not bad. However, if I switch to 2G (to save battery) then I get no bars at all, completely empty. It doesn't seem to be able to detect any network at all when I switch to 2G. Whereas switching to 3G the phone is able to detect all 3 networks in New Zealand (Vodafone, Telecom, 2Degree).
Now the reason why I'm on Android v2.1 is because when I was on v2.2 (Froyo), it has all sorts of problems with the WIFI. It's probably because of the kernel or something, and it seems A LOT of people have the same problem with me on v2.2 as well. If you do a quick Google search on wifi problems on Milestone then you'll understand why. A lot of people have suggested to flash back to v2.1 to fix this, and so I tried and it did indeed work for me. But since the only available SBF for v2.1 for New Zealand is for Telecom XT, now I have this new problem to deal with. It's not a big deal, I can stay on 3G. But if possible, I'd rather not because it seems v2.1 uses up battery more qiuckly, and the fact that using 3G uses more battery means I have to charge often and that's something I hate doing.
Now here's an important note. When I received my Milestone which came with v2.2 (Froyo) pre-installed, it was using Europe/UK I believe. It doesn't have problems with Vodafone's network on 2G at all, however like I mentioned it does have problems with the wifi. But the point is, the 2G network for Vodafone works fine on it.
So ya I'm just wondering, are there any Milestone users out there that flashed a different SBF, say Europe for example, and able to get the Vodafone network to work fine on 2G, while also making wifi work fine as well?
Or, are there any basebands for New Zealand that I can flash? There doesn't seem to be any from what I found.
Oh and here's where I found the SBF files in case you're wondering, here's the link for v2.1 (Eclair):

and here's the link for v2.2 (Froyo):

VJRaider ROM for HTC Raider/Vivid/Holiday Issue

Hey guys I just got my new Raider LTE from bell yesterday, and decided to flash this rom "VJRaider ROM for HTC Raider/Vivid/Holiday"
I was just wondering if anyone else on the bell or any other network using this rom and the required kernel are having issues with connection speeds? I notice too that it jumps alot between 3g and hspa alot too, most I have gotten is 1.5 mbps on a speedtest.
Tested my Atrix and I got 14 mpbs same area and coverage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I guess the first question would be did you flash through fastboot on PC or using a different method?
Which of cache/dalvik/data did you wipe prior to installing the ROM?
Did you make sure the APN info in the Raider is consistent with the Atrix?

The 3G/H flicker thing is a know bug, even stock ROM has it, the difference is that stock ROM only shows 4G icon for every type of network, no matter if you are on a 3G, HSPA, HSPA+ or 4G network, it will always show the 4G icon.
For the speed you can check your APNs, it must be a different one from the one you are using on your Atrix. Try to delete every APN and create new ones based on the Atrix ones.
Awesome thanks guys, I had flashed back to stock to try and fix it, I also changed the apn settings and it seemed to make no difference, Bell uses some hybrid network so that could possibly have had am effect. Flashing back to custom Rom now that I know its a known issue.
Cheers
You could also try changing MTU through ifconfig, but this could cause reliability issues. So far, I've only changed MTU on the 802.11 radio for this phone.

[Q] Radio favours 2G...

My phone will not use 4G (HSPA+ or 3G) at my work indoors and favours 2G. My HTC Sensation could be made to use 3G by cycling the radio off/on - but this HTC One is not able to get any 3G plus. I assume this is not a ROM issue as it behaved exactly the same on the original US T-mobile ROM build. Just outside the building (and always at home) I get 4G (not LTE but T-mobile HSPA) speeds (slow here at around 4-6Mbps).
I know that settings can be changed to make the radio favour 3g/4G etc (even if a poor signal) but can anyone help here. I can sit the HTC One right next to the Sensation and the Sensation will show 3G with 1-2 bars and the One will show 4-5 bars with 2G! (and very poor data rates on the HTC One as you'd expect).
I am on a US T-Mobile model on 10.1 ROM with new radio (4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03.zip) - VERY impressed.

Hey Mate,
I was also facing same kind of wiered issue, I am on Developer edition and In India and initially Was not not able to connect to any 2G network. I tried everything from Custom ROM to STOCK ROM, Radio, SIM card change, orperator change etc.... but mothing worked. I was only able to connect to 3G networks.
Today finally I S-OFF'ed my ONE and after that it's connecting to 2G and 3G both networks. I think there is something related with security.
Try to S-OFF !!

Thanks - but I can get 3G and 2G signals now. It is just that the phone seems to significantly favour the stronger 2G (more stable) connection even though a low signal strength 3G connection can be achieved (as shown on my Sensation). I do not want to try S-off just yet as that should really only allow the changing of H-boot and radio firmware etc. I have never read anything that indicates that S-Off can improve a given (un-changed) radio. It is this method I want to try first - I am already on the .24 radio but that made no changes.
I do know that it is possible to access a hidden (HTC Engineer?) radio menu by typing a series of numbers and hash (#) symbols into the phone dialler - that reveals a menu in which (I believe) you can change the priority of network selection.
It could, of course, just be that the HTC sensation radio hardware is better than the HTC One - I hope not.

[Q] rom with wifi calling on t-mobile?

Hi,
I'd like to put a good, solid, rooted rom that still includes t-mobile wi-fi calling. It's important for me because I travel often to places with no service but with wi-fi. Anyone know if there is a good rom that I could use? If not, I'll have to stick with stock.
Thanks a lot

[Q] T-Mobile Wi-fi calling on 4.4 Roms (GE and Sense based)

Checked around, searched but couldn't come up with anything conclusive. I live a bit out in the sticks so I need wi-fi calling to keep getting texts/calls. I'm jumping from at&t to t-mobile.
From what I've gathered, tmo wi-fi calling won't work on GE based roms, only Sense. Yet I've read that changing the radio will work. Is this true? Has anyone accomplished that?
