Hey Guys,
I think I broke my camera irreparably. Is there anyway to replace it without replacing the phone?
Sure! No problem. On Youtube you'll find some nice disassembly videos to follow. You find a cheap cam on eBay, e.g. this one
I exchanged the front facing cam on my O2x a while ago... please don't ask how I broke it.....
Good luck!

You must take the same camera o2x has. If you install a different camera sensor, your phone is unable to use it because you'll need a new kernel with new drivers implemented into it.

How did you break a front facing cam?!
Yeah, well. After being a little careless to my phone I had to change my LCD (it got some distorion). While I was opening the phone up I accidentally poked to much around the edges and somehow reached to far in and snapped the flex-cable connecting the front facing cam.
It is Really needed to be very gentle while opening it and use the right tools. In my case I should have had a large beer in my tool-kit....
Btw, thx for asking
So, be careful and good luck!
Are you repairing you teeth also by yourself insted going to a doctor?

Hi
I dropped my phone causing the top glass part to broke. I ordered a replacement from ebay and now I need help fixing it.
Is there any video out there where it is shown how to change just the glass part?
I apparently can no post you a link as a new member so..
Search youtube for: LG P970 touch display screen replacement - Part Repair.
this is the kind of video that I think I need. Only with P880 being repaired, of course.
Thanks for your help!

Yes it is, here:

Yeah I saw that one. Do I really need to do all that?
In that video they take everything off even the smallest thigs.
When they replace other phones glasses they dont dissamble nearly as much stuff.
But if that's what I'm going to have to do..

I'm affraid that needs to be like that. There is no way to connect it back in other way, in a safe mode of course.
I don't think you have to take apart the whole thing. Do it until the "frame" is seperated from the "front" and replace the "front", leaving the PCBs in the "frame".
HI all . I need help from experienced people, please. i dont know much about lens like these. can you suggest me good ones from ebay? i want to take better macro shots , landscape and portrets. any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

If you buying external lens i recomend this one -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/3in1-Phone-...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item3cd4b304e0
Fits perfectly and it wont slip from phone like the the one mentioned in first post(i have both versions). The one from first post have magnetic ring and it need to be taped to housing, looks ugly and falls off easily.
Dsc-qx10/100
You have to wait until Sony releases DSC-QX10/100 lens on September 4 event. Check the source for pictures

From ifixit tear down;
"The display assembly cannot be replaced without removing the rear case—this will make the most common repair, a damaged screen, nearly impossible."

I am afraid that the HTC One teardown on normally great ifixit site has since been discredited, I have seen another video showing a replacement using heat oven to remove that was far more successful. Don't have a link put be diligent with Google video search and you should find it.

Interesting, thanks for the correction.
Sad to know I must now fact check internet resources :silly:
Yeah, its technically possible to replace it yourself, but i the OPs case, I would recommend giving it to a repair shop and have them do it. Every video i've seen ends up in the plastic on the side becoming all chewed up.
Sorry if this has been asked but im getting dust going beneath my screen and I need to wipe it. Is there any safe way to do this? And I can't really find any disassembly vids. Please help thanks.

Unfortunately today I also noticed small "pixels" of dust under my screen too. I do not think there is a way to clean it without opening the device. We should probably find a way to prevent that..
So still no one knows how to open the screen safely. Theres two star shaped screws on either side of the phone on the bezel, would that help to remove screen or am I going to risk breaking something? Please help.
bro if u take my advice dont do it yourself. I know how difficult it is to ignore it when u notice it.
By if u do it ur self u may put more of it then taking it out.
So if u really want it then take it to a preoffesional.
Sony repair quoted me 40 pounds. Id rather do it myself.

Do I have to disassemble the whole phone from the back just to get to the front glass or is there an easier way?
Yes and as was previously suggested don't do it yourself you will just ruin the device of you are not an electronics engineer to put it back together as you found it. Its a tough job to reverse engineer electronic devices even those who are easily accessible imagine doing the same thing to your compact phone

The only way would be to disassemble the phone. The front digitiser is not glued to the LCD on this model as it is with other phones so it's not as hard as it may seem to get the dust out. Although you will need to completely disassemble the phone to get to the dust.

I have these PDF's downloaded so let me know if you need.

PM me an email to send to.
this may sound stupid but if you have a bike pump or air compressor use it to blow the dust out trough the micro usb port it may work and no disassembly required
Does anybody know if sony can clean the dust and does it come under the warranty?

In India they clean it under warranty, I got my screen dust free once from Sony center but after few months at present dust is back and now they are charging INR 350 (6$) for cleaning.

I recently dropped my Z1 and both the glass and the display are broken. In addition, rear camera stopped working. Did the camera thing happen to anyone with cracked screen? Is it worth repairing or not?
I attached some photos.
Camera thing mine did not happen
I find the camera connector really easy to disconnect soo I think you can try to dissasemble and replug the sensor if that is the case.
And uhh on Ebay you can find glass+lcd together for like 30 usd $ (shipping included) I think it's still reasonable to fix it for that price
But if you want waterproof! Make sure to get a sort of sticker for it!! You need like 3 different ones for the screen. If you are trying to fix the camera, it's 2 kinds. They are usually blue sheets
Mine is broken right now xD I ordered the screen but it did not come yet
btw that's what I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131397630061?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Thanks, but I doubt that the LCD you posted is genuine it seems too cheap and there is no sony logo in the picture. And I am not sure if I would successfully repair it on my own...might as well buy the LCD and have it replaced at the service center.

It is nothing unusual that these connectors are popping out when phone is dropped. I saw it in a few of dropped phones.
