When you select fastboot you need to be connected through USB to your computer. The HTC Dev site gives you step by step instructions to unlock the bootloader. Are you going through that site to unlock the bootloader?

yes. That's exactly what i did. however when I tried to select the fastboot the phone won't do anything at all

Make sure you have the correct drivers installed on your computer too.

It doesn't do much. It changes to a similar looking screen and should say fastboot usb. I agree with the poster above me. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed.

Lol I noticed, but from what I understand it isn't that big of a deal at this point. The devs have already gotten dumps from s off devices and it hasn't done much.

Yeah, but that's because they have no access to the device because those are engineering prototypes. This is a user with an s-off device. If we can get the hboot I think it might help with s-off for the rest of us

Wasn't this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449706) a user with s-off?
OP - make sure you're navigated in command prompt to the directory where fastboot is (platform-tools in the sdk) and that the Unlock_code.bin is in the same directory (navigate to the directory, shift+right click, open command window here) then enter your fastboot commands. However, if when after you select Fastboot in hboot and you plug your usb in it doesn't change to Fastboot USB, it's probably a driver issue (Windows drivers can be found in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450105 thread)

[HOW-TO] Return Your Device to S-ON after S-OFF

PLEASE READ: This will only work on a stock, signed S-OFF HBOOT. Do not try this on a patched or ENG HBOOT or the result will be a permanent hard brick.
1. Boot into fastboot on your device
2. Open a terminal or command prompt and navigate to where your fastboot binary is.
3. Type the following commands:
Code:
fastboot devices
Ensure your device is listed

Code:
fastboot oem readsecureflag
The output should read something like: secure_flag: 0

Code:

It will, just as long as you chose the non-patched hboot without fastboot commands.
Just had to use this method.
Used the PH39IMG to get back to a stock hboot and ran the commands. Confirmed that it does display locked in hboot.

So for all intents and purposes, it will look like it was never HTC Unlocked then? My g/f has a Vivid, and she's very picky about going to the darkside of rooting, because she doesn't want her warranty voided. If it can look like it's been returned to stock, that would help.

Previous poster mentioned you will have to RUU.
It really depends on on your knowledge of Fastboot. Its possible you could wipe and push a working ROM for the HTC One via fastboot (search on how to accomplish this if you dont know already).
If your not comfortable with that you will have to re-lock, push the RUU rom and then you have have to go through the unlocking process again.
Hope that helps and good luck!
You can go here as it seems someone else flashed this ROM as well and has already gone through the same issues you are having.

Okay well now my phone is saying there is no OS installed i am using TWRP and i know i need to flash a rom but the issue now is my pc wont recognize my device i have the latest HTC sync installed and still wont recognize the device.
Did you relock? I know it's frustrating but trust me you didn't brick your phone and you can get out of this. If you look in OMJ's thread with the RUU it will help you relock and push the RUU. It's saying you have no OS cause you flashed a Rom not configured for this phone. Your pc won't recognize the device for the same reason so once you relock the phone it should recognize the device just make sure you do a full wipe.

Went through this exact problem. You're past the point of even being able to push with adb because you're OS won't detect the wiped phone. Find the link to the latest RUU in this forum and dl it. Relock your phone and then run the RUU, will take about 15 minutes and your phone will be perfectly stock again. From there, reunlock and then choose one of the sprint variants. Personally I use ViperRom but there are plenty of good choices. Good luck.

boot into fastboot USB after downloading the RUU and placing it in the same folder as fastboot, and do:
Fastboot oem lock
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Fastboot flash <RUUfileName> .zip,
You might get an error that says flush again immediately. If you do, no big deal, just press the up arrow on the keyboard (this inserts the previous command line again) and enter the command again. Wait for it to finish, and you should be good to go.
After that, re unlock and re flash a Rom, such as Viper Rom.

Revone + Engineered Hboot

So something with revone has messed up my getvar all and won't let me ruu.
I've tried ruu from fastboot and using the setup.exe.
I keep getting this error...
'FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)'
So since I can't ruu and ubuntu won't recognize my phone at all (moonshine out of the picture) my question is..
Where can I find an eng hboot that will work with the revone s-off method?
I want to be able to flash splash screens and be able to remove red development text. Then eventually supercid.
Any help is appreciated!

Yea we also could not get my phone to ruu. We think it has something to do with the revone method changing something.
We think it's my getvar all. But the android-info is hidden in the ruu so I wouldn't be able to figure out what had been changed to make it not work.

So I ended up getting moonshine to work on Windows. Supercid worked. I also flashed a splash screen.

Thank you for the clarification. I was assuming that I have to start from the "bottom", first bootloader, then S-OFF, then recovery, then root. This is what I did for my Desire Z and Sensation XE.
Based on your comment, I followed this path:
HTC Unlock
Recovery (CWM)
Flash SuperSU via recovery
S-OFF via rumrunner
Now to wait till mike1986 releases an ARHD for my phone

Which hboot do you have? (you can check it in bootloader longpressing power and vol- when the phone is off).
If you have 1.44 hboot, i advice you to use the revone tool!
I believe I do have 1.44. I tried running sujo(?) Again and this time my phone rebooted to bootloader then to my phone's main screen and I had no data and couldn't unlock my phone. The OTA depends about your cid.
However, you can upgrade to the ViperOne, just flash it in recovery.
p.s. I advice to flash the 3.62 firmware, so you will have a phone like the stock but with the Viper
