My HTC Incredible S behaivor really strange ( dont let different ICS Roms Boot with a Virtous kernel ) and so i have a question: Are there another with a HTC Incredible S S710e ? My first HTC Incredoble S was definitly a HTC Incredible S S710a.
You can see it under Settings -> About ->Phone identity ->Model number
Thanks to everyone.
Edit: There is also a HTC Incredible S S710f, its just a clone with dual Sim
I think they have different frequency radios in them?
Could a Radio be the answer why the phone dont boots several roms and get very unstable to overclock?
me heave HTC Incredible S S710e
okay, another Question, are ICS Roms with Sense4/ MIUIv4 or Virtouse Quattro working for you with the stock kernel?

Stock Kernel in the Rom package.
For me is quattro also not working. Sense 4 just work with the icecoldkernel. Which recovery and hboot are you using?

What is the problem exactly. Give an example of the rom and the issue you face.
Edit: would also like the source of your info regarding a/b/c/d/f

Every Rom from Virtous isn't booting up for me, and for few other too.
And also every Rom with a Virtous kernel.
Virtous Affinity /wICS, Virtous Quattro, Virtous Primadonna and Also Nik'sAuraSense(has a Virtous Kernel)
I got self one S710a(From first Relase of the Phone in Europe) but because Mic problems give it to service and they gave me a S710e
S710b has got a friend of me - for he is everything working fine and can stable OC the latest klquicksall Kernel to 1.6Ghz, and Virtous too.
For c and d i haven't a source but i added them if someone has one.
And with Google i fond some S710f Devices but the are just a clone with dual Sim function.
I also opend a Thread for my Issues but nothing helped.
Have you tried contacting the devs? Maybe your downloads are corrupt.

Kinda new to the android os, coming from windows 7 and windows mobile before. First, i have a HTC Vivid.....I am currently still running the vivd stock rom...I have rooted it with S-off, and have flashed a few different Kernels. Doesnt matter witch kernel i use, if i try to set the CPU to a higher MHz it seams to only show 1188 as the max. A couple of the kernels are suppose to run little bit higher than that, like for one, the KangBang kernel is rated at 2.0 with S-off, but i still only get 1188 option as the max. Now, with these apps like SetCPU really able to change and or adjust the CPU frequency?
Thanks!!

Before flashing a custom kernel you have to first flash an insecure boot.IMG. if you want oc. Go to my kernel thread and down load the stockish kernel. Extract the holiday.IMG from the zip and flash it in fastboot.
It may be flashable in recovery selecting the holiday option when the installer asks. After doing this you should be able to flash any oc kernel of your choosing. You only have yo flash the insecure boot.IMG once. Afterwards you shouldn't ever need to do it again.

Thank you! Didn't see anywhere about having to do that, will try that when I get home today. I'm guessing that after I flash that .IMG I need to reflash the kernel too? The kernels work really good without oc but just wanted to tinker...boy I tell ya, I'm really liking android over windows that's for sure

Yes sir that is correct....i went ahead and wiped my data after i couldnt get it boot. So i guess i got to start over now.. I downloaded your pegasus rom, but not to sure how to install rom yet but am working on figuring that out. Do you have instructions to install your rom?
All the other stuff , unlocking bootloader, perm root, and s-off was pretty simple...

You just flash my ROM in recovery. I'd advise selecting stockish kernel when asked as the installer can be picky about what recovery you use for kozmikkernel.

I'm on the Icy Glitch V14 Kernel at the moment with AOKP ICS Milestone 6.
My current plan is to install the first Milestone release of AOKP JB.
Does anyone know the best kernel to use with JB? I'd like to know the person opinions of a few people, thanks.
Basically I want the most stable possible, with good speed. I don't really want any overclocking though,
Then just use aokp stock kernel that come with it I don't think there any over clocking in it

How do I flash the stock kernel? It's not when just flashing a zip file in the recovery because I had this Icy Glitch kernel BEFORE I ever flashed AOKP and I still have it after AOKP.
Do I just extract the boot.img out of the rom zip and flash it with fastboot?
OK what you need to find out is what is jb stock kernel on jb aokp then you find that kernel they should have a flash zip then go in to recovery and flash it I think they are using cm 10 stock kernel am not for sure tho

Still confused where I'd get that.

That's because glitch was the kernel for aokp. I think you'd be fine staying with the stock kernel. Also, this device doesn't have fastboot.

Oh lol my bad I knew that. I was super tired yesterday haha. I use Odin right?
And wow I didn't realize glitch was the kernel for AOKP. Knowing that makes a lot of sense now.
Just to be sure though... Just flashing the new AOKP will install the new kernel with it correct?

Well no, you probably won't need Odin, only CWM. But yeah, roms always come with their own kernel.

this maybe a dumb question, but i'm still learning. I'm running the CM10 nightly roms and i've noticed that the max clock speed is 1188, is there no way to overclock the vivid?
Can you overclock with the Pac-man rom?

Has to do with the Kernel... if you use the kernel that Homeslice made than you can over clock on CM10, in other words it is not rom specific it is kernel specific.
Should be able to find the Homeslice kernel in the PAC-Man thread.

Thank you, another dumb question though. Do you just flash the kernel the same way you flash gapps with the Rom in recovery? And this can be done at any time?
Depends on if your device is s-off or not. S-off = same as gapps. S-on there are about three different ways to do it.

Use the all-in-one toolkit in the development section

Or since your rooted download the flashimage GUI.apk (free in our themes and app section) and use that app
Here's a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20926830
We should look into seeing if we can somehow make a script and add it in a Rom that would do this while flashing...I'm sure its possible, just gotta add the files then add the commands to the updater script -this would eliminate the difficulty for s-on users
Tomorrow ill look into it since I get out of school early (10 am ) and have no work tomorrow

I don't think that they'll be able to push a full boot.img through recovery while s-on, however they may be able to push the zImage, which should be all that's necessary for kernel changes anyway. So the script would have to disassemble the boot.img and flash the zImage. I don't know for sure if s-on can flash zImages through recovery or not though. At the least, we could force it to reboot to bootloader after flashing so it's waiting for fastboot flash, or we could pack the boot.img in a ph39img.zip that would flash in bootloader? That wouldn't be too bad (or would that need s-off too????).
Idk..I'm gonna decompile the app and see how it actually works after school

Has anyone used the HTC vivid S-OFF tool kit from the same guy who made the all in one tool kit?
What's the process for making my device s-off? Do I have to reflash recovery and my rom again after or can I just do the s-off process and reboot?

I have an Incredible S. I have flashed the official rom 4.0.4 with kernel version 3.0.16 g2271fd09. I was able to go over 1Ghz. Even though i think that 1Ghz CPU is more than enough on Android 4.0.4, it is very laggy and the situation is terrible. I need to go over 1Ghz like I did on other custom roms. I do not want to install a custom ROM because I do not know what they contain and I dont trust them. I just need to flash a custom kernel, and boot up the phone with the ability to go over 1Ghz (overclock). Any custom kernels (not ROMS) that you have tried and work with Android 4.0.4 ??
