My phone is not connecting to 3g anymore. I have tried flashing different radios from flipz. I also tried flashing different roms. Also, when I dial *#*#4636#*#* and change the thing to evdo only it still says 1x. I tried all of the options it has. Can anyone help please.
Does it say you are roaming in "about phone"?
What is your prl version?
What is your signal strength (average dB)?
It says not roaming, the signal strength right now is -88 dbm, the mobile network type is CMDA- 1xRTT,the PRL version is 60670. I got an app called Real Signal and sometimes the CMDA signal is full while the EvDO is always empty
If I download the 2.1 update from htc.com/us/support/hero-sprint/downloads/ will that fix it? And will I be able to root it and flash a custom rom

Yes, the 2.1 RUU from Sprint/HTC can be rooted. It's worth a shot to see if it fixes your error. Many people run this RUU from time to time when errors happen that can't seem to be fixed/solved. It will often fix the errors, and then they can re-root and go back to custom roms.
Alright, I'll give it a shot!
Is there a .zip file instead of an .exe or do I have to update it following their instructions to maxmize my chances of fixing the error?
...well......just like the tittle says....is it possible to flash the radio on the bionic under stock ICS???
Reason I ask, is because it might be the reason I cannot for the life of me get the bionic working on another CDMA carrier and have it up and running on 3G.
I believe maybe the radio has a part in that.....!?!?!?
I am trying to get it up and running on a non US CDMA carrier. I actually had the razr working with out problems and would only pick up 3G on CDMA if the verizon sim card was in the phone, otherwise voice but no 3G. I had a droidx running untill the last update that got a new radio and my 3G died. I also have done a razr , a photon, and a droid x2.....not saying I am a guru, but just saying I have had my share of getting phones up and running, and never had any headaches like I have had with his one.....I only get voice but no 3G. I even go to *#*#4636... and will pick up both 1X and 3G strong signals but will NOT connect.
So figured the radio could be the culprit...
Any input will be welcomed.
P.S. I have followed several guides for other carriers and same result on all, voice ad no 3G.
Have you been entering the proper APN's for the other CDMA carrier? The symptoms you're describing are a classic symptom of the device not having the APN's set correctly. ##PROGRAM in the dialer should help you.
If you believe the radio is corrupted for some reason, you can reflash it to make sure there aren't any issues. Just grab the FXZ file for ICS, and make sure you have fastboot.exe available from the Android SDK. Reboot the Bionic into fastboot mode. Make sure that the radio file is in the same folder as fastboot.exe. Then just type in 'fastboot flash radio radio.img' and then you'll have a brand new reflashed radio to start tinkering with.

APN???? in CDMA??? Could you please explain a little??? I believed apn's where only used for gsm. But then again, I could be wrong....
Since I did not find any posts regarding radio flashing, do you know where I could find older radio files for the bionic, as I have not seen anything.
I am on ICS and would like to flash the GB radio if possible......(if possible)
Thanks!

Hello,
Did you got it working ?
Many people in Austria have since mid of July problems with the Droid 4 GSM.
I used the Original JB ROM with Mentor, but since mid of July it didnt found any GSM signal anymore.
Now I have installed CM11, GSM and Internet works,
but the GSM works only with 2G and the Internet only with EDGE mode anymore.
Did you found maybe already a solution to get it fully working again ?
We cant find any solution...if you know something, let me know please.
regards
I can try to helping you but you should answer to these questions:
Did you do some change before to not having anymore gsm signal?
What is your stock rom version?
With the original stock rom without any modification what is the situation?
Could you try the original stock rom without my gsm rom but with my latest gsm patch?

I'm in Austria too (provider yesss) and i'm facing the same issue. I already did an full wipe, went back to stock, rooted, installed safestrap again und finally slimkat 7.0 with the gsm patch. Still i just get an edge connection but whenever the droid tries to connect to umts, the signal gets lost totally (no service).

@Mentor.37
i did not any changes - it didnt worked anymore from one minute to the other
i used the Original JB ROM with the Mentor ROM (i cant remember the exactly ROM Version, but it was the official Stock from Verizon/Motorola)
With the original Stock ROM i dont get any connection (no telephony and no internet) - also not any 2G connection...
With the Original Stock ROM and Mentor ROM its the same....no connection (no telephony and no internet).
I flashed CM11 and there i got a connection, but the connection is only 2G (telephony and the internet works only with 2G mode) - no 3G mode.
I also flashed the "Original Motorola Image" back, but there i didnt got also any connection
I used some "Moto XT894 Utility" which i found here in the forum - but always the same - no connection. The "Moto XT894 Utility" contained the Original JB ROM.
@magikstar which Tool you exactly used for flashing back the Original Image ? Can you send me maybe the download links ?
Maybe you have used another tool for flashing back than i.
As Provider i use: A1 (Telekom Austria)
many other people in Austria have the same problem....
@lzmichael
My provider is YESS!!, which belongs to A1 and therefore I'm in the A1 network too. Seems like an A1 issue, because a friend of mine (he has a droid4 too) has Drei, and does not have a problem with 3G.

go to http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=11 and download the latest firmware Android 4.1.2 Blur_Version.98.72.188.XT894.Verizon.en.US
then unzip it and boot your phone into bootloader
flash via fastboot the boot.img,emstorage.img,preinstall.img,radio.img,re covery.img,system.img

You could try installing the stock 18-9 version, if i'm not in error in it there has been some little update in the radio for gsm users in the canada and that could help every gsm user.

I dont have installed a GSM Patch (i never had that installed before), but i can try.
Today i have installed:
VRZ_XT894_9.8.2O-72_VZW-18-8_CFC.xml.zip
and the MentorRom (Version from March 2014).
With that i have 2G connection. 3G didnt work.
The same problem was with the CM11 - only 2G worked
Where i can get the 18.9 Version from the Stock-ROM?
If you are using my rom you do not have to install the gsm patch but if you are using any other aosp rom you have to install my gsm patch.
Now for testing you can try installing my latest gsm patch, in it i made some change that i have not yet merged in my gsm rom, if no luck you can try updating to 18-9 in this way:
- install the 18-2 version, here the download
- from ota you should update to 18-9
- now you can try the stock rom without any mod and with my patch
if these things will not help we will try in another way.

I have installed now the latest GSM Patch (v3.2.2), but it still doesnt work with 3G mode (no internet connection and no telephony with 3G)
...if i switch to 2G it works
(for example: with a Drei Austria sim card the phone works fine - and with T-Mobile Austria is the same problem as with A1).
I will try to install that 18-2 Update later, when i have a fast WLAN connection to get the OTA update (to 18-9) quickly...

im wondering that that problem only appears in austria. since mid of july...much people have problems
There is something that your provider changed and that that caused this, I hope that we will solve the problem but with our locked bootloader this will be really hard.
Have you tried contacting your providers to knowing what's happening?
Anyway if after updating to 18-9 the problem will be yet present you can attach here your logcats when you are in 3g with no service.

Yes, i have contacted the provider in July and have asked what i can do. i have then asked if they had changed something - like APNs or so, and the provider said, that they didnt changed anything. they replaced then my simcard - they thought maybe is the simcard defect, but the simcard was ok, anyway i have now a new simcard.
but the phone-support from the provider didnt know if something "internal" got changed at the provider...thats what i think.
After flashing the stockrom (with mentor addon), i got a 3G signal for 30-50 seconds, then the signal was away.
the same thing was end of july, after flashing the stockrom (there i had some older version flashed), i got a 3G signal for few seconds - then never again.
no 3G signal after rebooting and so again - it worked only short after installing the new rom.
How its possible to get that "logcats" ? I never did that before. In which directory or so on the phone are the logs ?.
Pretty interesting the output of the log.
I'm writing from my droid so a full log may be diffult now.
08-11 07:57:11.326 D/MobileDataStateTracker(237): cbs: Broadcast received: android.intent.action.ANY_DATA_STATE apnType=cbs
08-11 07:57:11.334 D/MobileDataStateTracker(237): cbs: Received state=DISCONNECTED, old=DISCONNECTED, reason=dataDetached
08-11 07:57:11.396 D/Nat464Xlat(237): requiresClat: netType=0, hasIPv4Address=true
After the last line appears, the cell connection drops.
When i am on gsm only, netType equals to 5.

I cleared the log before I captured the radio log. At the beginning I had an established 2G (GSM only) connection. Then I switched to "GSM auto(PRL)" - the connection dropped and finally I went back to "GSM only" again. Just fyi what I was doing when the log was captured.
Greetings. I've got a sprint har/kar m8 s-off (sunshine) latest bad boyz 2.1. Thanks to OMJ I got sim working in europe, but the only working mode is GSM/UMTS and automatic which is choosing the same. Therefore I don't have internet trough my operator ( wifi is working ofc )
I guess it because we have different band frequencies or something like that but is it possible to fix this, because this is starting to annoying me a lot!
As using it in Europe I wish to have nothing in common with SPrint, Is it possible to put a ROM not for sprint or edited one without any sprint stuff? I am paranoic type when it comes to phones , are there kinda "anonymous" rom which fit my M8? I think I am ready to turn back Google Play and all these stuff...... They are really annoying when it comes to access.
Thank you!

Thank you for your answer! I tried it several times with no luck.
Please note I have sim unlocked my phone while a go (thank you) using these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52145162&postcount=2 . My phone is having signal and I can talk but no internet at all.
When i turn on mobile data under it is shown
Code:
Disconnected because service is unavailable
. Inside the Menu on the first option
Code:
4G settings
under network provider i see mine. On
Code:
Access point names
are shown 2 APNs - wap-gprs.MyProvider. and mms-gprs.Myprovider. Manual search for networks is also working (shows me all operators here and a yellow star for mine)
In your guide you have to change a system .apk file which is otherwise patched automatically if you use the guide I have done myself before. Which only says me mine has been already patched when I followed your guide. Anyway I have replaced it and done everything but still no connection.
I saw @Cashreedhar (first guide I used author) says its Permanent and until now after several formats and rom changes ( tried venom 2.4 but went back) I haven't got gsm signal problems so far. I really doesn't understand why the magic is not breaking after reinstall (changing rom) (does the patched .apk stays or no) but its also gives me a clue I may be have already messed up something.
Excuse me for my confusing language but I am also confused and that's how it looks like
My noobish logic ends here, waiting for lolipop 5 and try again : )))))))))
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey if you followed the procedures, everything should be fine in there. Try adding apn manually for your network and force HSDPA. If you get 3g signal, you should also be getting the internet.
I spent the last few days on my phone learning all about flashing Cyanogenmod, the differences between SPH-L720/SPH-L720T and wanted to put everything I learned about my experience in one thread as it is pulled from countless sites.
I have the Boost Mobile Galaxy S4 SPH-L720T, rooted, flashed CM13(unofficial) with LTE Triband aka "Spark" working, confirmed.
Here is what I know:
1) Sprint Mobile and Boost Mobile are all on the same frequency's.
2) jfltespr Rom for the SPH-L720 also works on SPH-L720T. It's only a Rom, zero difference between the "T" version and regular in terms of the OS, the "T" is hardware.
3) The difference between SPH-L720 and SPH-L720T hardware wise is that the SPH-L720T can receive multiple channels for downloading on the LTE network and the SPH-L720 can only do one, This is the "Enhanced LTE" or "Spark" you hear about.
4) For Boost Mobile, Installing the jfltespr Sprint build for the SPH-L720 or SPH-L720T will not work out of the box. You need to flash the Universal_Boost_APN_Fix-R2.2.zip. After loading in the CM Zip, zip this as well. If you forget, no biggie go back and do it after. This will fix your APN's, label your carrier correctly, which in turn allow you to use LTE, MMS, Triband aka "Spark" (You will not see the spark spiny thing, but it will work, keep reading). Also, side note you may need to wait and/or restart your phone a few times after you are set up with CM. Basically your phone needs to send info to the carrier tower and it all needs to sync up. Mine was fully working in under 20 mins. It's like when you activate a phone for the first time is all.
5) To verify the Triband or "Spark" is working download LTE Discovery App. The Triband or "Spark" Network runs on 800mhz Band 26 for voice, 1900mhz Band: 25 for Up/Down Data, and 2500mhz Band 41 for Down Data but at a higher DL rate. See these articles for more details, Sprint Network Explained, Frequency Faq's
UPDATE: I changed a setting in the MMS, turns out Boost Mobile requires a Username for mobile data to work correctly. This is now Ver. 2.2.

Hi there. What do you mean by "zip this as well"? Do you mean upon fresh installing CM we should also add the "Universal Boost APN" zip at the same time (in TWRP for example)?
I am guessing my issue is totally different, but thought I would ask anyways. I have a Samsung S4 on RingPlus (not Boost, but still an MNVO on Sprint). I have CM12 installed. everything works great except MMS. I can send normal text but cannot send (or receive) photos/multimedia. It complains about APN settings. I have a fresh CM installed so I'm willing to try anything to trial and error this thing.
Thanks for any ideas.

You can flash at the time you install the rom to save the APNs as default, or you can zip any time. However, if you flash after the install your default will be whatever CM's where.
This zip may not fully work for you then, but I did do some googling for you and found this below, if those apn settings work, let me know and I'll try to make a zip for you for future roms and quick flashing

Flash the latest from http://www.sammobile.com and after a few minutes MobileID will run and it will pull and install Boost specific stuff for you.
Sent from my SPH-A120

I had to unzip this in Linux for some reason, but after that I got the MD5.

Did you clear the data, cache and delvik cache first? The only reason I ask is because I made that mistake trying to "test a flash" before I lost all my stuff. Remember, you'll only have the space for the micro Gapps without re-partitioning.
Also, the Boost APN fix didn't work for me, nor the other 9 or so that I tried. Then I came across an old thread where I made a fix for the APN on my old Cyanogenmod setup with my L720 piggybacked off the work of mopedryder. , and I'll be damned. Still works even on my replacement L720T.
Not sure why, but this isn't working with the "Official" build.... Looking into this..
Yea, I was having a bear of a time with the MMS and APN stuff. It looks like they pushed some changes that messed with the "Boost APN fix R2 and also my old fix. What I found works now was hand editing the apns-conf.xml file to just the basics. Nothing but a boost apn and a very cdma apns just in case. Flash rom, flash gapps. After it booted, I copied that in to the /system/etc folder over the old one with file explorer, fixed permissions to match the old file and boom... MMS and LTE after reboot. You can give it a try if you want. Just unzip and copy/paste where I said. Let me know what you get if you try it. Also, let me know if you can edit APN settings while on wifi with this. Just curious. If it works, we can throw it in a flashable zip to flash after gapps.
MMS and LTE working!
I used the flash link provided in this thread Universal_Boost_APN_Fix-R2-2.zip This got me LTE, but still no MMS.
I followed the instructions in the last post, but they didn't work. I kept trying, and had no luck...this was before trying the flash file above.
After getting LTE, I decided to see what I could find inside of the apns-conf file. I checked out the settings and then did some searches for APN settings and found that the line for APN type was potentially misconfigured, so I edited it manually in the apns-conf file, because I REALLY didn't want to flash my phone for the umpteenth time. I also changed the bearer number to "0"
The previous type was: "default,supl,mms,dun,fota"
The type I found through apn.gishan.net was: "default, admin, fota, mms, supl, hipri"
Once I changed that in both lines that the type appeared in and changed the bearer numbers to "0" my MMS started working, as well.
Hope this helps someone out there so they don't have to search as long as I did.
Sprint Samsung Galaxy s4 moved to Boost Mobile
Icky Samsung system, I will not miss you.
Hi everyone, kinda new to the S4 forums. (not Android dev) my current daily driver is a SPARK on boost (running cm13) and my wife has the L720 also on boost. So given that I have the rare opportunity to dig into both activated devices and collect all the radio/modem/APN data from them in order to help this thread and maybe actually contribute something instead of just lurking and reading
So after about 3 weeks of digging and testing and comparing, also trying the edits suggested above on what works for them I have found the proper network settings in the apn-conf.xml. my attempt was to get them as close to the stock ok3 apns as possible and they are very close. MMS works great, LTE shows up right after boot. I also found that after flashing Unerversal_Boost_APN_fix.zip, sometimes mobile data (LTE) would not come back after WiFi was on and then disconnected like when l left the house for work. Toggling airplane mode did no good. Only a reboot would get LTE back. That problem seems to be solved too.
I also took apart the Universal_Boost_APN_fix.zip provided in the op, studied and compared it to stock files and my ok3 modem logs.
In the fixprop.sh, the
sed -i 's/ro.telephony.default_network=.*$/ro.telephony.default_network=8/' /system/build.prop
Command sets the build.prop ro.telephony.default_network to =8
But in both L720 and SPARK, stock boost ok3 the network is =10 so I edited that.
Also I found that
sed -i 's/gsm.operator.numeric.*$/gsm.operator.numeric=311870/' /system/build.prop
Makes the build.prop call for the apns with the numeric tag =311870. but in the apn_conf.xml the apn numeric tag was = 310120 so I just changed the apn to =311870 so now the build.prop will set the right apns on boot.
Something else I found when reading modem logs from both the L720 and the spark is that in the spark, the modem actually calls for
ro.product.name=jflterefreshspr and ro.build.product=jflterefreshspr from the build.prop
I never could find out why it would need that ( and I tried) but my deductive reasoning tells me that it must have to do with initiating tri-band traffic somehow on the network. It only happens on boot but never after that. The L720 ok3 modem does not call for a name from the build.prop at all. So I added commands to the fixprop.sh to change some of the values to the =jflterefreshspr SPARK name and =L720T in the build.prop as well.
Of course, that makes the install.zip proprietary and not unerversal anymore and L720 users would need there own version so here's what I have guys.
All credits go to the original creators of these scripts. All I did was make a few changes.
Flash cm13, gapps(or not), then the APN.zip and reboot.
Note: You might notice after a reboot that the carrier will display as "sprint" but toggling airplane mode then displays "boost mobile" don't worry, it's just a display issue. network and mobile data work with no issues. I think it's something in cm13. started happening around 07/09 nightly
Sorry for the long drawn out post!! :silly:

Will this work with other ROMs as well, or only CM?
I want to flash Wicked X, but I'm on boost.
The apn.zips should work on any AOSP ROM.
Not for TouchWiz ROMs
You don't need it for WickedX.
WickedX will install BoostID and set your apn settings right after it boots the first time just like stock boost ROM. After all, it is just the stock Samsung firmware with a bunch of mods added to it.
AOSP(CyanogenMod) is NOT Samsung firmware. It is compiled completely from a different source which is why the .zips are needed
If you're running CM13 stock, CM doesn't use muppets, with my build I did, so might be tempted to do a build soon, might not, truth be told I kinda gave up because of how much of a pain in the ass CDMA and MVNO's are becoming.

I totaly agree
UPDATED
These have been tested extensively on both models.
Cell network, MMS, and switching between wifi & cell 3G and LTE work flawlessly.
I've edited them so they can be dirty flashed with ROM updates. They actually seem to work better after a dirty flash now.
Instructions:
In recovery,
Wipe: system, data, cache
Install/flash cm13 nightly.zip
Install/flash Gapps
Install/flash Boost_APNs_(your device).zip
Reboot
Boost_APNs_L720T.zip
Boost_APNs_L720.zip
