Fyi this has changed from gingerbread (used to be power + home) to power + volume down. It took me a while to figure this out.

Same here,This didn't change on my vivid.
Maybe it's different for me because I'm using rum float beta 3?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Nope, it's exactly the same for Rum Float Beta 3, Home + Power.

Are you using sense or nonsense?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Both combos work. The only difference is that power+voldown shows a preview.
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using XDA Premium App
Lol. Power + Home is the Sense cap. Power + Vol is the ICS screencap (that I feel looks better and shows a preview)
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
The power plus volume seems to be disabled in the official AT&T OTA release.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk
Yeah, the power and volume down doesn't work for me either. I have the at&t ota update as well. Stock, locked, and unrooted. Power and home still works though.

Just a heads up there is an article on engadget that the roll out for the vivid will start march 2012....

Wow, only three months. Then again it is HTC......
To be clear... ICS is being scheduled for the Raider on Bell in Canada. While the Raider h/w is the same, the s/w is different in minor ways. Minor enough for AT&T to take its sweet time getting it out.

Agreed. It won't be released for AT&T until likely May or so, I'm guessing. By that time ill likely have already sold the Vivid and bought the AT&T Galaxy Nexus anyways. I need me some ICS! Lol

Just download SuperOneClick and root the phone while in Debugging mode. That's all.
Ye I get that. But way should I look for as far as roms? Do I lose the 3d effects?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
You lose 3d on all roms as far as I know. LG uses proprietary software for that.

Why didn't you just get an EVO 3D? It launched with GB and as far as I know HTC has some of the best support among branded phones.

Hold Volume Down+ 3D button. Then, while keeping hold of them, hold power and once the LG splash screen shows let go of power and keep holding the Vol down+ 3d. It should work.

ok. I wasn't avare of that. I always thought light screens would use more juice, rather than black. But anyway, its still very fast. I actually find it faster than the 'original' one.

Specifically a kernel that allows us to use the HTC logo as a capacative button. Similar to something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244620
Nice would like the logo as menu part

Ah I didn't know the Kernel for the sprint phone hadn't been released yet. I thought I saw that one of the custom roms had an altered kernel so I just thought it was released. I still think I would prefer to have the top of the HTC "button" working as a menu button than the onscreen menu button.
Yeah. He explained it to me. Apparently it's not like a legit custom kernel, but one portion of the kernel package is edited.
