Flashed virtuous quattro rc3 on my incredible s and after a reboot, lost backlights on my softkey buttons. Look in forums but couln't find a solution.
I tried the gscript fix and a few apps for brightness control with no success.
Does anyone have a solution as I love the rom but find it inconvinient with buttons I can't see.

Just adjust the brightness a little bit then they should come back. It will happen every now and again but I remember a new kernel helping the issue
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA

Enable Auto-Brightness and they will stay on.

Thank you guys wokrs every time

Duttys HD Sense 2.1 Holy Grail R0 - BACKLIGHT PROBLEMS!

Hey all.
ive found a little problem with this ROM.
when backlight goes to power save mode, it never goes to its regular mode again, when i press the screen, it keeps on working but stays dark.
it only works if i turn the screen of from the power button, and turn it on again.
how do i work this out?
and another problem with IE6 - it wont show me websites, somehow it get stuck while using it...anyone knows?
thank you all..!
Are you using the screen lock facility to lock on dim? This is a common problem with the wm 6.5 lock if you set it to lock on dim. If you are you need to use HD Tweak to disable the lock on dim feature and install AutoLock Screen v.17E.
As to the problem with IE, I haven't encountered it. Have you tried Opera?
Dude
I am using this ROM for really long time....I can say that it is the best ROM so far....I didnt even flash a new one ever since.
for the backlight try this aplication: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450318
At first I didnt want to try it out...but it is sooooo good...it really works - you can clearly see how the backlight goes darker and brighter...it is awesome...
And as for the browser..I really recommend the new Opera 10....it is the best looking app I ever had on my blackstone and it also works like charm.

Nexus one screen gets really dim

Please, any input is useful. ):
I just bought a nexus one the other day, and i think I was scammed. THe power button works fine, but occasionally, the screen would get super dim. It doesn't black out because I can faintly see all of the icons and menus, and I can tap them. ALso, its not automatic brightness, because its horribly horribly hard to see. Pulling the battery (sometimes) fixes this problem.
I'm currently running Kang-o-rama with SP2.
Has this ever happened to anyone? If so, how did you fix it?
It does sound its the auto brightness. If you're outside and its dims it is very hard to see. You the default android power widget to test it. It has brightness toggle on it. Full /auto/dim/ and basically the middle.
I'll take a picture of it once my dad comes home, but I tested it last night if it was autobrightness.
I waited for it to dim, then went into settings, disabled autobrightness, and put the brightness all the way up. It was still super dim, and didn't return to normal until I pulled the battery.
I would look for support in the thread for that rom. Or flash another rom. Sounds like it is just a bug in your rom.
I just installed a Miui rom hoping it'll fix it (cause I was using cm7 based roms) and it worked for a while.
Now it began to Flicker and finally turned off. It'll ring when phones call it but nothing will show on the screen. I'll pull the battery but this time nothing shows up (though it vibrates indicating it turns on).
I know this is a hardware problem now, do you guys know what part it is?
Please, any input is appreciated.

Brightness issue

Hi all,
For some reason, my Hero's screen would not go pass the lowest brightness setting. At first I thought that the original screen was the issue, but I've replaced that and it's still happening. If I increase the brightness slightly, it would start flickering, and if I increase it a lot it would flickers and then goes out (but everything still works, I just have to blind slide the bar down to the lowest brightness setting). Also I can not see the boot screen/recovery/anything before the lockscreen, which means I can't flash a ROM without using ROM manager.
Has anyone ever had a problem like this or know what's causing the problem and how I can fix it? I appreciate all the help. Thank you!

[Q] Wake up for power button stopped working - Nameless ROM v7.2 Build 5 - 806Mhz

Hi All,
I've just rooted my phone (my first root) and installed Nameless ROM v7.2 Build 5 with the 806Mhz image. Right after that everything seemed to be fine. But later on the wake up function for pressing the power button stopped working.
The symptoms: Phone goes to sleep mode for pressing the power button (screen goes blank), but when I press the power button again nothing happens, the screen remains blank. If I press it twice in fast succession, the lock screen appears for a fraction of a second then again it goes blank. The only way I can get to the lock screen is if I start charging it, then I remove the USB cable, and press the power button. (but it only works right after that) Pressing the power button also works the very first time after automatic timeout.
I'd appreciate any ideas on how this could be fixed as besides that Nameless and the OC image seems to be rather awsome.
Hi, Well there could be many reasons why your phone won't wake, to rule out one does the power button defiantly work?
If it does it could be that your cpu goes too low in clock speed to sustain waking the phone, I think you should try to get an app called setcpu which is found on xda for free and higher the lowest clock speed like so:
806mhz-806mhz
806mhz-4xxmhz
806mhz-xxmhz
then 806mhz and the lowest one
Doing this will let you figure out if it is infct the cpu causing this, post back with your results.
Good luck.

I've tried setcpu with the four settings listed above and the scaling parameter set to default (ondemand). The problem persists.
To answer your question: the power button definitely works, I can lock the screen with it, initiate shutdown/reboot, it only doesn't function properly when I try to wake up the phone with it. I've also noticed one thing: the 'charging via USB'-'unplug'-'press power' unlock method only works if I don't wait too much after unplugging.
I've tried insalling a different locker (Holo locker) and I wasn't even able to unlock the phone anymore.
Can the htc locker itself be corrupted? Can it be somehow reinstalled?
FYI: I have Autokiller installed but it's currently set to system defaults. Also my battery isn't calibrated yet (I'm not sure if that's relevant). And I have Llama installed and running in the background.
Can it be related to the System off and lock app? It is installed but it doesn't have root access.
Thanks in advance for your help!
This might not be related , but could you tell me what display brightness level you are currently using? If you are not using auto brightness try using that option and retry locking and unlocking the device.
Might be also due to the screenoff app.Try uninstalling it.

Thanks for that nikhil, you've just saved my phone . The issue seems to be solved now. I've also tried with all the brightness settings you can set up with the Power widget - all of them works fine. But if I tweak brightness in the Notification bar - Quick settings, the problem appears again. I guess I'll avoid that slider in the future.
Thanks again!

I had a similar problem when i was on stock rom and after a lot of searching found out that it was related to the brightness level we set (Dont know why this problem arises though)
So...Happy to help
The problem is linked to the brightness level
As pointed out by a member 2, this issue is related to the brightness level we set on this phone. I used to have the same problem when i changed the brightness level to the minimum but eversince i increased the brightness just a fraction the problem seems to have dissappeared.
I still dont why it happens
Just a question...
Did anyone having this problem commit a "dirty" flash or any other ROM flashing that didn't involve a full wipe? This may explain this conundrum.

Screen stays BLACK when trying to wake the device (Only on AOSP ROMS)

Hi
I am having a problem with AOSP roms. Everything else works smoothly but when I lock the screen, upon trying to wake the device only the buttons lit up and I can see nothing on the screen. The phone keeps working but screen remains black.
I have tried XenonHD and Tesla OS, same problem on both. Sense based roms work fine.
Please Help
I am using HTC ONE M7 International version S-On Bootloader unlocked
This problem is for all HTC phones .
I have full stock M7 running sense 6 and 5.0+ android i noticed that problem. Then i installed a custom ROM Cyanogenmod 12.1 and that problem still persist .
I found the root cause of that problem when you put your brightness to the lowest setting , then you lock the screen.
You wont see anything when you try to unlock it, good thing about the cyanogenmod 12.1 rom is that i can adjust the brightness by sliding through the status bar even though im not seeing it .
To avoid this black screen , never put your brightness to the lowest setting, or never set it to automatic.
When you set it to automatic and the light sensor cant detect any light , the brightness it will give is the same level as the lowest setting and you will also be stucked in black screen.
