Well then it should be a server problem from Google end. Error 940 is due to an internal Adaptive Server problem. But it should have been rectified by now. Guess i too will have to look for more info on it....as i haven't faced the problem but your problem is unique !! Will get back once i have more info on it....or wait for some other member or dev to post and have more info on this!!
You have uninstalled it, so i assume you have root access
If you have made Titanium backup, restore it
otherwise find maps.apk and put it under system/app

That's what I did. It's just annoying that it says that I need to update maps in google play although I have the latest version of google maps (6.4). I just reflashed my phone and did a complete wipe. Now it shows that google maps is not available in my region. Weird. All this started happening after the last google play update.

Here's what i'm showing right now. I tried to search maps in google play but i can't find it so i tried searching through my browser. So i click the link that i got from my browser which opens up google play just to show that maps is not available in my region. Still managed to update my maps after i reflashed right before google play auto updated. Now that i have the latest google play. The screen shot above is what i'm getting.

That's what I did after I've reflashed my phone. I was able to update the 6.0 version of maps that came with the stock LC1 rom using the prior version of google play. But after google play updated automatically I can no longer search for maps unless I do it via the browser. And when I go that route, it says that google maps in not available in my country. I know I can just manually install using an apk that I can download from somewhere if ever an update comes out. It just sucks that I'd have to do that when It should just automatically update in the first place. I'm guessing it's a google play bug or they probably pulled out maps from our country for whatever reasons.
I get the same error code when trying to update Google Voice.
/Söder
i have the same problem, error 940 tring to install or update some app not al, for example maps and voice search
I guess this may be country or network related... For me here in Canada, I can update Google Maps without any issues but when I try to update Google Voice I got error 940. I already tried to clear the cache and application data but I get same error.

Temporary solution is market unlocker.
I think this ahould work to install missing application.

I was able to install the Google Voice application from market (Google Play now) after I used a proxy server from US. This prove that issue is actually country related.

Me too. Error code 940 when trying update Voice Search and Street View. I also can not intall Google Maps and some Google core apps from Market (aka Google Play now) too. I think this due to the region restriction, that mean you can not install or update (if the app is already installed in the rom) apps which is not supported by google in your region.
Solution!

You can use the app "App Backup & Restore" to do it !
Thanks a lot :good:
The App Link >>> play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.barclays.android.barclaysmobilebanking&hl=en
I have a uk google play apk.
Edit: if archers zip does not work, try my apk
Installation procedure is in archers post.
I installed it but it's a zip not an apk. I've found it to be hit & miss as to whether you can side-install zips. Some work, some don't. Copy it into /data/apps - might need a reboot.

It doesn't show up in that app, probably because it's a zip not an apk.
Looks like you're stuck with rooting and using Market Enabler. Any reason you don't want to do that? You could unroot immediately after.
Because i just need the .apk and that so easy to have it with application
So if you can give me the .APK it will be okay and i will not need to root / unroot my phone

It isn't an apk, so it doesn't matter what app I use. I did try the app, just so I can say "yes, I tried it", despite knowing it would not work. Even renaming the zip to an apk file doesn't work, which is another hit-and-miss method to get zip files to install.
If you really don't want to root your phone then you may need to forget about having this app.
Stupid question: Can't you just change the exstension to .apk? Wouldn't that work?

All that application does is copy the apk file from /data/apps or /system/apps. If there is no apk file then it won't work. I've come across a few apps that when installed from google play are installed as zip files, but you can't install them on any other device. Rooting or forgetting about it are your two options.
There might well be a second problem anyway. Even if you do, somehow, manage to get the .apk file in original format and install it on your device, you may well find that Barclays block your access based on location. If that is the case then rooting would be your only option anyway.
I don't understand - you've been a member on this site for 4 years, this is the first time you have felt the need to post anything and you are too scared to root your phone! Why are you on a phone developers site?

Hi all,
My phone just started to show that I have a "low memory" I cannot for example install GNow for ICS (this one e.g. says I have only 3 megabytes available in my /sys/ directory).
does anyone know what the problem is? I didn't have such a problem before on a stock rom even with twice as much applications installed.
The problem is more interesting that I have more than 1,5GB of space available on both memories.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for the suggestion. Will try.
That is very annoying because the phone has a lot of free space to use and now the ROM just downgrades your otherwise high specs phone to a low-end model without any memory.
The annoying thing is that this was a very popular problem with many solutions but you didn't search.

This is correct. You are probably on 430 now but when you upgrade past v8 of Google Play Services you want to go down to 230.

My Google Play app says I am up to date. Wonder what triggers it to update?
It's pushed to your device by Google or you can get updates from APK Mirror, like in the link you quoted. As of my post, this is the most current. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ices-8-1-14-2244331-230-android-apk-download/

I keep getting a "app not installed" message when I try to install the apk download.

It's probably the incorrect one. Need some device details. What version of Android are you on? What's the current version of Google Services on your device?

OK I finally got it. I was having a hard time disabling the version of GPS that i had installed but was finally able to do it by deactivating android device manager as a device administrator. Thanks!
Glad you got it sorted!
I was using 430/230 for a while, but got a huge error and did a FDR. Now my Turbo defaulted to 438. Do I have been using 238 since with no issues.
Do you recall what the error was?
I was getting a constant google play service has failed.
Huh. I've been using x30 for as long as I can remember and I don't think I've had that error. Now you have me wondering what the correct version is, though I'm not willing to do a factory reset to find out.?
I thought I was always been very careful too. So, don't doubt the x30, just stick with what is working. And just use my x38 as a reference for an alternative.
Was on -030 when using 7.5.71 GPS. In case you still sought references.
