Hello,
I installed Dark Knight 3 ICS for Galaxy S today, and I think it's very fast and looks very nice. But I can't restore my apps with Titanium Backup. I installed XXJVU 2.3.6, rooted and installed the rom. When I restore all the apps, it says completed but there are no apps added. When I pick one app and select restore App+Data, it says that it failed, when I pick restore App only, it says completed but still I can't find the app. When I try to install an app from te market, I get, translated from Dutch so I don't know what it says in English, 'Whatsapp Messenger' can not be downloaded because of an error. (-101). Can somebody please help me?

Hello All,
I used to be on RoDrIgUeZsTyLe MUIU rom and bunch of other custom roms. Every rom has its ones pros and cons but were not very stable. So, I thought I will go back to stock. So, I flash stock rom and stock recovery and received OTA update and installed the updates. Now my phone is on the below version.
Android Version 2.2.1
Build Number - FRG83D
Market Version - 2.12
Baseband Version - 32.26.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
I was able to successfully download and install many apps but whenever I try to download YouTube I always get "Installation of Youtube unsuccessfull" message. Also, I researched and saw that some people in Europe on Vodafone rom are having this issue. How do I know if my android version is totally stock?
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can successfully install this app without having to root my phone again? I would like to stay stock and unrooted if possible.
Thanks.
use titanium or manually uninstall the current youtube app, reboot then try to install again. Its because its a system app currently. youll probably have to do the same for car home, street view and a few others
I am un rooted, so I won't be able to use titanium. how do I uninstall manually though? I didn't have any issues installing other apps like street view etc.
Make sure the app is installed on your phone, and unmount the SD before updating...

I tried un mounting SD card and installing and still that didn't work. Thanks for trying to help though.
Try uninstalling the old version of YouTube first.

....if you do not have root access how were you flashing an miui rom?
I was getting the exact same thing as you were, all you need to do is remove the old youtube app
good luck
Thanks for the responses. Like I said in my post I was rooted before but un rooted and went to complete stock 2.2.1. I know uninstalling youtube would resolve this issue but I am trying to find a way to uninstall the app without being rooted.

Hey folks,
I finally got around to root my stock german 2.1u1 milestone with universal androot (z4 and superoneclick wouldn't work).
i don't really have use for root, i just wanted to backup my system as it is now (using titanium backup, for the settings etc).
later that day i ran into unrelated wifi-problems, so i rebooted my phone, only to find that the market shows no apps installed
( except for titanium backup), but all apps are there and working just fine. does the market think this is a new phone?
i tried reinstalling some apps via .apk, which changed nothing and via market, which helped, so i guess i could just reinstall everything via the market.
i guess i also could just get update notifications from appbrain, but i don't really like the inconsistency.
so i guess my questions are basically these: is this a common occurrence? can anyone enlighten me? did i hurt my system?
thanks in advance
so no one ever had the same happen to him?
Same for me
Did you try to recreate my problem(with the same steps)? Or did this happen on an unrelated occasion? Have you found a fix?

So, i've tried to restore my market apps after a factory rest and flashign a new rom, it never works, no matter if i use a custom or a stock rom, when i enter the market, i can't restore the apps i had, having hundreds of apps installed, manually doing them all, is a pain...
does anyone know of any app that can do this? or if there is some way to confgure the phone or market to do it?
Use titanium, available in the market. Thank me!
Edit...by pro version for batch reinstall,pps...u shouldn't be flashing roms if you don't know about backing up and restoring!

Titanium Backup is the app you want. It will store all your apps and app data in a folder on your SD...so that when you reinstall a new ROM, or factory reset, it pulls all the info back out of that folder.
While it will save and restore all your apps, the free version requires you to click "Yes" and "Done" to install each app, where the paid version will let you do it as a batch....yes to all, done.
And if you haven't rooted, AppMonster is a good alternative..

I know how to backup and restore, and i know titanium and it's not what i want...
i want a market restore, if install from titanium (which doesn't work across different OS versions) the apps are local isntalls and the market won't pass me updates from them, what i want is to have an app that reinstalls everything from the market so i can get update notifications, and so the restore will work regardless of what OS version i happen to flash into the phone.

Android comes with an option that when you sign into your Google account on your phone that all you market apps restore on their own but Samsung removed this option, so TIBU is your only hope, or appmonster

If your Market app does not detect re-installed apps, you can clear the Market app data at "Manage Applications" menu. This will trigger the Market app to rescan your apps..
Happened to me before and that did the trick.
Titanium backup has allowed me over the years to go from 1.5 -> 1.6 -> 2.0 -> 2.1 -> 2.2 -> 2.3 while changing handsets quite happily, so not sure why the OP thinks it cannot.
I did have to purge market cache and data once or twice, but as long as I remembered to run market access first its never failed to reattach or relearn what was installed post restoration.
Also found Joel (the author) to be helpful and responsive the once or twice I had a problem via emails ...

You have to enable backup data. Go to Settings>Privacy. After fresh installation ROM, you have to sign in Google account. After a while, your apps will appear.

Same happens to me. Have done several FR and even switched phone, but it has never worked (the standard from Google). Any suggestions?
As far as I observed:
The google way only works on AOSP-ROMs (Cyanogen).
Samsung disabled the option (just not in UI *fail*).
Restoring data across OS-versions does not work 100%. System-settings often work, system apps hardly ever work, Other apps sometimes make problems (Angry Birds never works for me).
With Titanium restoring completely breaks when switching from CM7 to a Samsung-ROM or vice versa
Successfully rooted on official stockROM (318D) using snakebitzz instructions (thanks)
I want to know how to remove the official stockrom Bloatwares (blueberry messenger etc.) from my rooted device. I have read that you can use Titanium Backup. I tried but it only reboots to official stock rom recovery logo (Small android logo next to a triangle with exclamation mark in it), stays on & on and nothing else happens.
Thanks

I used Root Uninstaller PRO and another program called Root Uninstall, I was able to delete most of the bloatwares except CSL Fun Club and Blueberry Store. These give an error Cannot Uninstall. Any Ideas.
Did root explorer clean this up ? Can you give me a download link to this root explorer ?
Was able to successfully Delete (Not Uninstall) the APK files of CSL fun Club and Blueberry store using Root Explorer ! Hope this is the right way ! Now I do not have any of the 'extra fittings' from GB update. Hope somebody can post a list or point to a link in the forum of these Extra Fitting to be removed !
cheers

Observed something today, I installed Rom Toolbox, it asked for Superuser persmission and when I clicked on allowed, it popped a message saying that busybox is not installed.
What is this and why is it coming. I did not see this problem with any other root applications.
I am on CWM and using used su-2.3.6.3-efgh zip file to root.
Also font change via ROM toolbox is not getting effected, I had no problems while on RC2 update.

I use ROM Toolbox to change system fonts. I am presently on Stock 2.3 rooted. While running Rom Toolbox for the first time this error popped up. I have not seen this before on RC2 / CM7 updates.
I also tried installing the Busybox Installer from market and the latest Busy box update, however it makes the phone hang at boot logo.
