I just bought my Droid 4 today.
I came from a Droid 2.
I was rooted on my Droid 2 and backed up apps via Titanium Backup.
I copied my entire sd card onto my computer and formatted the card via Windows and through my phone (Droid 4).
I successfully rooted my Droid 4.
I then inserted the card into the Droid 4 and tried to restore my apps via Titanium Backup.
I couldn't get it to work.
I installed ES File Explore (because it's awesome!) and checked out my sd card.
A bunch of files appear to be missing, however the space is taken.
I then check the sd card with the stock Blur file explorer and everything shows up!
The stock Blur music app shows and plays my music, but Power Amp doesn't show any music.
Anybody have any suggestions or experience anything similar?
Thanks in advance.
(I tried searching Google.)
UPDATE: Apparently the Droid 4 by default points at the sd card (internal)
So whatever app that looks into the sd card needs the folder location changed to sd card (ext.)
Any suggestions as to how to use ext sd card as default?

I'm at my wit's end trying to get my Cappy to mount on either my personal MB Pro or my work PC laptop via USB. AT&T store I went to yesterday suggested a warranty replacement, but I want everything in order first.
Is there any way to do a Titanium Backup (have the Pro version) & save that folder w/o being able to mount the phone to my computer? If they master clear to fix it I wanna be able to restore easily.
Are you on a custom rom, how are you trying to mount?
You can buy an external sd, and move the titanium backup to it
Running stock JH7 rooted. Tried Dropbox with Root Explorer but couldn't get it to work with multi select. Then zipped without realizing Dropbox didn't support that haha.
Edit: How do I move to an external SD card without being able to mount?

Put an SD card in the phone, run TIBU, use MyFiles to move or copy the TIBU folder to the external SD on the phone, remove the sd card from the phone, stick sd into computer of your choice and copy to computer.
There's no need to connect the phone to the computer directly as long as you have a computer that reads an sd card. For that matter there is no real need to copy them to the computer. When you get the new phone stick the sd card in the phone, copy TIBU folder back to internal sd card and restore.

Worked perfectly. Hadn't even ventured into My Files because I was always using Astro/Root Explorer. Ironically, My Files made it much easier to differentiate external SD b/c of a different icon...knowledge for next time. Everything's backed up, unrooted & ready for a warranty replacement conversation (2nd so far).
Moved sd chip from Verizon DroidX to Bionic after backing up with Titainum to dropbox. New phone rooted (old one too) but Titainum wouldn't restore on new device. Noted sd card now has over 800 "duplicate/cloned" files. Not much space left. What to do?
Good day,
I have a question about replacing my external microSD card on my GNote:
1) Can I simply swap out the SD card with a new one and reboot the phone?
Other than copying off my photos and music folders on the current external SD card, what else should I be looking to move over onto the new SD card once I insert it?
I am rooted on XLA1 ROM
I have not moved any downloaded Apps to the ext. SD card
I use the built in email and messaging Apps, I do not even know if\how to tell the mail app to store mail on the external card or if it does this automatically if it detects the presence of one. (Kind of a sub question I guess)
I use Dialer one (I do not think it matters but....)
I have CWM backups to external SD as well as Titanium Pro scheduled batch backups. have not looked yet to see where these are stored and what the folders are named/
The current SD card came out of my HTC HD2 where I had done a few android builds running off SD and therefore see plenty of android created folders that I am sure are as a result of my attempts to try out Android when I was a Windows Mobile user on the HD 2.
Thanks in advance for any answers giving to this matter.

You shouldn't have to do anything. Most programs, if they don't find the file structure they're looking for in the place they're looking, will recreate it.
Thanks for the answer.
Hello I am new to this site and new to android in general. First, some info on my phone.
_ Unlocked bootloader
-Rooted
-ICS 4.0.3
-32gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card with 2 primary partitions
I am having trouble moving anything to my SD card via the phone. When I go to the app menu and try to move an app I only get the option to "Move to Phone Storage." I have searched on google and everyone just makes mention to use a program like link2sd. I've tried using that, and even after creating symbiotic link the apps still only move to phone storage. The program says they are on SD card, but my SD card data usage says otherwise.
My phone does acknowledge the presence of an SD card in the Settings > Storage menu. I am unable to view the contents of the SD card on any of the file explorers either, when I click the SD card all I see are the contents of phone storage. I am able to view and open contents of the SD card by using root explorer under the sdcard2 directory. If I transfer music and photos to the SD card from my PC I can access them with the appropriate widgets on my phone.
So to simplify my post: Is there any way to move an app to the SD card with this device / ICS? The actual external SD card, not the internal phone storage.
Thank you.
I'm not 100% but... In wcx recovery... I think there is an option to switch internal/external storage...
Maybe someone has tried it?

I actually moved an app to ext.sd using root explorer it basically just copied it.the app I moved was app monster when I used the app it showed internal .when I selected scan sdcard it brought up everything from internal and external .
HTC vivid
Titanium Backup does this really well. You can do a batch operation to move all user apps to external SD.

Doesn't Astro File Manager do basically the same thing?
ok, so my microsd card is a samsung 64gb hc/hx? Computer says HX, microsd card says HC... class 10.
I've been putting music on it etc, then when reboot my phone, it like restores to an older stage, files will delete themselves, folders i deleted reappear and the new music is gone etc.. I do it again, same thing happens. Its extremely frustrating.
I notice ill put an apk on there, the icon changes, and it wont open the apk also.
Ive formatted my sd card on both computer and on the phone but the problem remains...
Here an image of a zip when trying to open, it was recently put on the sd and opened fine before rebooting.

Same problem here. Any solution?
Are you doing this from the phone? Are you on KK?
If so you need to Google "third party write to sd card restrictions on KitKat "
The solution is to root and apply the write to sd card fix

Root and fix done. The same thing happens if I copy files from pc to micro sd. When I put micro sd in the phone, directory and files above 8/10gb disappear.
You have a broken or dodgy sd card then.
I bought a 64 gig card of eBay write cheap but it was really a 4 gig card formatted to look like a 64 gig one...

Tried with 3 different micro sd. The result was the same.
