Hello, I worked in the past with The OG Droid, HTC Incredible, HTC Thunderbolt in a Team environment and solo. I began my work with Kernels and later moved on to work with JRummy and N8Dyddy in Lithuimmod. That was back in the day "ha". Altough the last kernel work I did publicly was with the HTC Thunderbolt I have continued to follow the world of Android very closely.
Today I am inviting all Kernel and Theme developers to post their work in my new app that will soon be released to the Market. The app will be a centralized location for just Themes and Kernels to be downloaded and brief info about the work. I know time is valuable, my intent is to cut down the time to find the latest and greatest, offering these hard working developers another channel for their work to shine, not taking away from this wonderful forum of course. I enjoy the forums and only truly enjoy them when I am home from work with a drink and can take in all the info.
I look forward to hearing from all .Thank you and it feels good to be back.

I am not sure xda-developers forum is the place to discuss about but now I am almost sure that our N1 will never be getting a real ICS.
I understand now that N1 hardware does not support API mapping and all we get from the developers's effort like dk_zero-cool, texasice and zyr3x is very lag rom.
Unfortunately I don't see any future on ICS here and I believe that we will stay on GB. hope that the developers will go on and develop new and better CM or sense

1) This is for general (also, there's already threads about this).
2) This forum is for development, not for opinions.
3) N1 hardware DOES support API mapping, that's not the actual problem with ICS in N1.
4) There's already good ICS roms from developers here. If you're in a hurry to get Google's ICS (its kinda useless to need this imho, since ICS for n1 is quite good enough). Just because google doesn't give ICS to N1, doesn't mean we can't get a stable one. Sense ROMs (all of them) are a good example of this.
try to thing of this. google provided us open source android. so it mean, it is possible to run on any them. look at hp touchpad. now with CM. look at nokia n9 and samsung bada fone. all of them have ported versions of android. If you are just trying to give your opinion then be sure to post it on the right section.
If all these ICS ROMs are laggy, then you're cleary doing something wrong. You should try other setups (kernel, a2sd, developer settings). BCM has been running rock solid and smooth for like 2 months now for me (and many others).

Real quick fellas, I've been following the BCM ICS thread and, judging from his posts in there (on top of this thread), please realize Mexus is a pure and unadulterated troll.
He has repeatedly disparaged the efforts of a lot of prominent developers (as well as members) here on XDA in a manner I find to be tremendously disrespectful and ungrateful.
Out of respect for all the hard-working devs here, especially the ICS ones who are giving up so much of their time, I'd like to ask you not to post any more responses in this thread and to not respond to any other rude posts of his you may come across.
Mexus, I hope you'll learn that your attitude does nothing to benefit this community, and that you should work to improve said attitude so that the things you say don't end up being disrespectful, unhelpful, and, ultimately, 100% unnecessary.
@mexus88: You just joined the XDA in April 2012 and already stir the trouble. We would appreciate if you don't post negative comments.

BCM ist enough fast and almost stable in the newest version.
This is my real ICS, good enough as daily driver.
Guys don't blame mexus88 he is new to this forum..but be + ..ics is almost perfect...one of the ics roms is in alpha..but I see a light in that

For those of you that have been around these parts for a while, you may remember the State of Development updates that good ol' Gsleon3 used to update us with. These came for us at a time when development for the Vivid seemed to be at a standstill, and for those of you that were here, you remember why. For those of you who don't, let me catch you up a little (and I apologize for the bad feelings that this may drum up, but I don't want anything to get out of control again). So grab a beer and a snack, this may be a long one
It was about April, and development for the Holiday was still in its infancy. There were a few good ROMs being released, and generally, it was a good place to be. Then accusations of stealing other's work, accusations of corrupt moderators, and all around child-like behavior started, and it became the downfall of the Holiday forum at XDA. ROM threads started closing. Then came the bickering. Then the Devs left. Then the users began to play the blame game, and the "let me try to whine my way to what I want" game. All the best devs left and opened up shop in their own little corners of the internet (and I can't blame them one bit), and development for the device was no longer centralized. There were/are still AWESOME ROMs available for this device, just not on XDA. This always made me a little sad. As painful of a place as XDA (or any internet forum for that matter) can be at times, there's sooooo much good information crammed into one site that it has always been my one-stop shop, but that wasn't true any longer. I settled in, I found a home, but I kept a close eye on what else was happening across the interweb's Holiday community. I liked to keep my eye on one project specifically, synergy's CM10 project, because who wouldn't want JellyBean, right?
Now, a little more information for those of you who weren't around.. The original CM10 thread was opened at another site in July, where the project started. Syn put a lot of time and effort into it, but in the end, found it to be not worth his time to continue on a project he didn't see possible to ever be finished (mainly due to the ATT in-call mic issue and video issues), and again, who can blame him? He abandoned the project at the beginning of August. This is where mg picked the project up, and continued it with a few fixes himself, before somehow we caught the attention of h8rift. h8 has been awesome - cleaning up our trees, getting things in their proper home, and powering through anything that gets in his way It's so great to have him around.
Myself, up until October, had only ever had experience with things like making boot animations, icons, editing .xmls in .apks, and some slight .smali edits. Thanks to mg's excellent guide and a crapton of Googling, I learned out how to compile/build cm from source. Then I thought, "I wonder if I could do the same for other JB flavors?" So guess what? I tried, and it worked. Every single question I had along the way (with the exception of a few Ubuntu and git specific questions), were answered by a thread here at XDA. Cool, right?
I am very excited to see new ROMage out for this device...as I'm sure anyone who was here through the "Great Holiday Wars of 2012" would agree, I was pretty sure what we had was all we were ever going to see. Which again, would have been OK, cause there are some great ROMs out there, but I've never been the kind of dude to settle in on the same ROM for too long - that's why I came to XDA in the first place. Now as I'm sure everyone can see, through collaboration, this project is making HUGE progress! I cannot thank mg and h8 enough for keeping it going. This brings me to my last point...
I encourage everyone to participate, and offer suggestions, and share information - that is, after all, what a developer's forum should be about. The wealth of knowledge that's available at XDA is out of this world, but sometimes hiding deep within the threads, filled by off-topic chatter and users who have way to huge a sense of entitlement. Please always keep in mind that the things you're getting here are free. Hours upon hours upon hours of work go into these projects, just to be shared for very little asked in return. Wait, we ask for something in return? Yes - READ, SEARCH, and SEARCH AGAIN before posting. Like I said, there's already a wealth of knowledge here that's incomparable to other Android forums on the web, but yes, sometimes it can be trying to find that information. But it's not impossible. Also - keep an eye on the issues list. There are bugs. There will probably always be bugs. And as long as there are, they will continue to be squished to the best of our ability (though h8's ability is far beyond mine, so let's especially be nice to him )
In closing - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not let this place become what it was before. So far I feel like the atmosphere around here has been a lot better, but I know how easy it can be for it to slip back to where it was. So be respectful, don't ask for ETAs, and be thankful for what we have - cause what we now have is a TON more options that we had before.

Right before that...I got my vivid in late may I think and that was when the blame game was going around lol...wasn't pretty

Well said homeslice. Although I haven't been as active in my participation I got the Vivid on day 1 and am really happy to see development where it is today. There were many points I thought the device was basically dead and time and time again it was revived with new life. Hopefully the few left can make sure not to repeat drama mistakes of the past.
And great job on going from a reader to a developer, very well done.

i think is not fair to close a wip thread to bring a sense 4 rom to the vivid all i wanted to do is help this device users to be on the latest software as i said in the post that was closed i wasn't going to share it to everybody i want it to share it to developers to bring this rom to all users but it got closed for "kanging" which i think is not true since venom team never released a vivid rom even thou the did for rezound which is pretty similar device but cdma and korean's make their work on the rom also to make the radio work which no body here in xda could do after many tries all i want is to help the community and specific this device owners which expect more from this device and we know is capable of running this system and much more please let the development continue we are stuck right know on sense only because someone doesn't want to share their work on other devices which is ok if you are the developer of something and you don't want to share but why stop someone who is trying to help on a device you haven't released a rom I bet that many of the vivid users would like to flash a sense 4.1 rom on their devices

Sorry but we don't approve of the use of our work by non-team members and do not condone the porting of any of our roms to other devices for various reasons. One of those reasons is these roms will never meet the same level of quality and support our users have become accustomed to as such, these roms will never be allowed on xda and will also be refused Venom Hub access.

Btw, we're not trying to be the bad guys here... We're simply trying to protect our property. Perhaps the best way for you to achieve your objective is to reach out to the kangers to find out how they managed to port it over to your device...

That's exactly what I want but there is a language barrier, instead of releasing could you try to make it legit here with your team? Please I know there are really good developers and they can find how to make it legit is all I ask I do not want to make an issue out of trying to help others with this device, this device is capable of running this Rom flawless just like the one x or rezound which in fact is is the same device but cdma could you help us or assign this port to one of your team members?
Or if none of you has the vivid let a vivid developer take care of it please we have really good developers here to!!

Let's just drop it. The villec2 should get its jellybean sense+ update soon, and maybe we can port it. Or maybe we can get the Koreans to share their secret. In the meantime, it appears to be elsewhere, so get it there if you must

So, the options are:
1. We remove all of our tweaks from the framework files of a kanged port of one of our roms so that you can use it as a base
2. You find a Korean translator to ask the one who got data working how he did it.
Let's not start more xda drama the vivid forum has already been thru this. Either find someone who speaks Korean to ask to translate or have them remove all of their tweaks like they ask. The vivid has come to far now to start drama over a sense 4 ROM

I'm not been sarcastic please help the vivid users to get a sense 4 Rom up and running if you can remove your framework from it that would be awesome to use it as a base I know you and your team are great developers I'm using your viper Rom on my wifes phone and I am really impressed with what you guys have done, I never wanted to start a war here or elsewhere all I want to do is give the sense 4 option to vivid owners like me!! I'm really sorry I have caused any issues.

You don't understand the work effort in removing our tweaks from the framework so you'll need to follow up with the Koreans.
And I honestly hope we don't see any more links to this kang roms, either here or on rootzwiki.

I know this phone is discontinued and its not the most popular phone. But overall still a good phone. With having stock android under Facebook home shouldn't there be alot of stock android roms? Are there any devs out there still working on this? Would glad to see more progress on this device

You hit your own nail on the head.
If a phone does not sell a lot and is discontinued and is not popular, it well not get development. It's kind of a natural law of the universe, right up there with gravity and the three laws of thermodynamics.
Why not learn Android development yourself? You can visit the XDA University forum and learn all about developing your very own custom ROMs

Lmao "natural law of the universe" its a cell phone for crying out loud. I never said I wanted to learn on android development. There is 1 ROM for this device so obviously it had a start of development. But when someone takes things way to seriously over a simple answer can fix then you have issues. It went from asking if there will be more development to gravity,laws,and universe.. lmao wow
Don't be so hostile, I am a avid HTC owner. And my girl has the HTC first. Just because there is a stock android interface doesn't mean it's easily changed to different versions. I started out a year ago modding on my HTC one x, and now I'm modifying stock roms into my cleanstrip Rom. It's a stock clean Rom with build prop tweaks and maybe doodads here and there. It's not hard to do some changes to Roms. Just takes a good mind and attention to read.
There are lots of guides to make roms, it shouldn't be to hard to follow most of them to cook up what you want.
What are you looking for in a Rom ? I'm wanting a sense 5 HTC one x newest 4.2.2 based Rom, for the first but I have no means or know how on porting sense.

I wanna ask my fellow Zenfone MPM1 users, what they think about current development on our device. With so many Roms indeed there are different options and it may seem ( Few devs have done a tremendous job on this device ) that development is going in the right direction. But really it is enough?
Before sharing my views on development direction I like to thanks for all those authors for big/little mods and those who invested time in this device and generous enough to share their work to our community.
I am a really old Xda user registered in 2009 with this id and but following Xda even before ( when it was famous for windows device), so keep this in mind before becoming judgmental on my thoughts ( Take me as an old guy) I totally respect all the work shared on this platform.
In old time (When Android developers started to share their work on this forum ), we in that time had few primary goals for development like having a properly supported CWM Recovery (obsolete now), having fully working AOSP and of-course having fully working, officially supported CyanogenMod( CM7 is still my best Rom I have ever used on any device at the given time ).
Things changed CWM replaced by TWRP as recovery of choice, Cyanogen becomes dead and LineageOS born... BOOM Today.
So why I am sharing this?
Because I want to highlight a few missing things( take it as a pinch of salt ) in current development equation, not a long list so stay with me.
OFFICIAL TWRP: Current latest TWRP which is working almost, but it still has few issues like sideloading didn't work and no decryption support. A fully working custom recovery is a necessity for any Rom development. We have an UNOFFICIAL TWRP thread which is dead right now, so I don't know what are the hopes for official TWRP.
PURE AOSP: Not tested Pure AOSP love yet on this device, I know everybody wants feature filled Rom with hundreds of features, but a pure working AOSP is really important. It is helpful for beginners devs who can create their own spin of custom roms with (few or more)cherry-pick features on top of AOSP. I am not saying that gives me AOSP right now but I miss the thing that a developer is constantly working on an AOSP base to fix small and big issues in device tree and framework.
ESSENTIAL ROMS: We have so many custom roms and I love to see that, we also have an OFFICIAL LineageOS 15.1 ROM but no major rom of next cycle ( Android Pie) LineageOS 16 or OMNI ROM in development ( unofficial or official doesn't matter as long as it is in development). These are the basic roms with a distinctive set of features and everyone knows that almost every other rom use source of these roms. So stable essential roms are necessary for a bugless custom spinoff of these roms. I don't see any of this in current time, as devs started projects and abandon them quickly either to work on another rom or their schedule doesn't allow to work on that rom anymore. There are few instances that few users spam those threads for the unnecessary feature request, ETA, improper language and this may have discouraged devs to work on those roms anymore.
BUGS Handling: There is nothing perfect and everyone knows that but I really miss that major bugs are not mentioned on many ROM's intro post, they all seem copy pasted that everything works but in reality, not everything works. I understand that features availability do differ on a different device, few common features may never work, every device has bugs common in every rom and can never be fixed. I understand that there is no point to mention those things, but there are issues which are constantly discussed in threads but have no mention on the original post. I am not saying that everyone should do it right now or it is really necessary, but I am sure will certainly help for many folks.
That's it folk those are things I have in my mind. But I really want to know others take on this, What you have to say on my points. You can also throw the above points in the trash if you want and share yours.

Need support for Official TWRP. need adb sideload feature.
Please developers and maintainers, consider lineage 16.0 and omni rom, these two are major famous os distro, but not maintained for our device.
All the points are true and devs should at least try to fix the recovery. I remember once my old device had a problem with Cwm when reboot to recovery was performed the phone bootlooped so a stable recovery is a basic need for development.
Also now a days devs seem to make telegram groups and post their work there by giving reason that xda has a lot of rules, the rules are for everyone's good and if you find a rule which should be changed or modified ask the community they'll help.
On xda devs get to show their skills in front of an open audience instead of a closed group. It's like driving on a empty track vs driving in a formula league. The league has more rules than no rules empty track but one can outshine only in a league.
So try to support the xda community and also have great time. Happy developing.

Because I want to highlight a few missing things( take it as a pinch of salt ) in current development equation, not a long list so stay with me.
OFFICIAL TWRP: Current latest TWRP which is working almost, but it still has few issues like sideloading didn't work and no decryption support. A fully working custom recovery is a necessity for any Rom development. We have an UNOFFICIAL TWRP thread which is dead right now, so I don't know what are the hopes for official TWRP.

Oh and the spammers - next level entitlement for free stuff.
Note - Same as OP and with all due to respect to devs/contributors.
Can we request the developer community to focus on quality and not on quantity, found more than 20 roms, but not one which can maybe support OTA and be used as a daily driver for non flashoholic community?
Ie flash once (or dirty flash forever) and forget type of use cases, we had during resurrection remix days.

Due to the insane quantity we find similar bugs on different roms, that's kinda futile..
Not one is working on lineage 16 i absolutely don't understand why.
I just bought a new ZF MPM1 and roaming around the forms ,i feel like you are absolutely right!

bro...devs are also humen, they also have life...
they are doing what u cant do..
building a rom take about 10-12 hrs ( if not using gclouds), with gclouds 3-4 hrs(if less error occurred).
they are developing when they get free time.
give them time, not a big thread to read.
And it will be great if you provide them LOGCATS, so that they can look and fix those bugs.

first of all i thank my dear X00TD's ROM developers for the quick and active development.,

we are not pesking developers to add this thing and that thing. we are requesting necessary thing that needed for stable development. every month we are getting new rom project or port rom. but nothing is different.
I am custom rom user since samsung galaxy pop( galaxy mini). previously every community build the cwm recovery (project closed) and make it stable and make it compatible with all the roms. and parallely start developing CyanogenMod (now lineage). then otherr rom developers are uses cyanogenmods sources to build their own custom rom.
firstly,
stable recovery needed. our twrp is still in beta stage.
and still in unofficial release. the following problems i faced, adb sideload, otg support not stable, aroma also not working.
secondly,
lineage os is traditional one and best aftermarket os. and the root for the many custom roms. but we are not concentrating on this os.
nxp amplifier not yet fully supported for current release of pie custom roms. i dont know what is the problem behind this issue. but none of the thread mentioned about it. may be asus not released source for it(idk).
anyone can build rom and fix bugs and release here. sorry to say, most of us don't know this android custom rom development.
and telegram groups are not worth. mostly some guys talking off topics. and i mostly ignore if unread msg is more than 500( mostly it goes above 1000 per day). so i miss what developers told and published news.

please make a index thread for list roms and kernel and about their present bugs, last release, current development status.
please make a single thread for noob guide/new user, and mention all the common problems and its solutions,
please make a thread for common bugs in roms and kernels and talk there for what we need to do solve this bugs.
if possible, update possible reason for the bugs

What else can you expect? Phone has been marketed as a mid-to lower middle tier device (price <$200/€180) i.e. it will not attract big (known / reputed) devs. phone was released in few countries so lower economic tier ppl in these countries will flock to this phone....natural to expect slovenly behaviour, rude attitudes in the community and lack of stability and direction of growth for the phone's rom development, since these ppl (students, mostly) have little knowledge of ethics, professionalism, and are likely to throw the device away for the next shiny fondleslab in the same price range within a year. Some devs are there, but the general populace they pander to is reckless, raging, mercurial youth with little respect for their work and little concern/care for whom they offend, so they can't stick to these guidelines as you speak of....after all they too hold some other work/profession as their main job and rom development is just an after-work thing....

I've been longing for a stable Pie LineageOS or stable AOSP for months. But so far it's been no news.

My actual plan was to just use the stock rom (since it was pure aosp, kinda), but since the pie version still buggy I have to use the custom version, which is pretty meh than my previous devices (xiaomi)
