my dad uses the sgh-td49 model samsung galaxy tab and when trying to install an app, saw he didn't have space. he's not extremely tech savvy and went to delete all of the files listed under "my files" which unfortunately included the root files.
he has a few apps that he's paid for and doesn't want to lose through factory reset, and while i've tried to copy them to the sd, some don't have the function enabled. is there any way to restore the root files without resetting the tab altogether and losing data?
Copy any left over media files and images to External SD.
Copy your contacts and SMS through free apps available in market.[Search in Google Play]
Your Apps purchased under Google Play will remain in the same Google account.
So do a complete factory reset.
Register ur tab under same Google account and open Google Play and download ur previously bought apps.

Hi everyone,
just wondering as I did my first order (BlueEx) for my Dream machine.
What happens if I format my device (install another cooked rom)? do I lost my application? do I download it again for free as I have the same gmail account? is there any way of grabing my apk install file?
thanks for your help, sure it's just 1.4€ for the moment, but if I went for documents2go or any other more expensive app (wisepilot....), I would not format my device anymore!
paid apps can be downloaded from the market again at no cost, but yes you will have to reinstall everything.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get your paid apps. moved from original gmail account to another gmail account. (Going to delete original account) Thanks.
You can pull the app off of your device using adb pull. I believe some backup apps can also backup apk files onto sdcard. One thing to note is that if you reinstall your own backup from a file rather than the market, you will not be able to get updates from the market. Only apps installed using the market app will show up on the Downloaded list (and thus be updatable without a repurchase).
Also, if the app in question is a protected app (not all paid apps are) then you will need root to pull it out of app-protected.
I wonder if there isn't some way to transfer your Market app licenses from one gmail account to another. You might have to contact Android Market support about it.

I figured it out, first you wipe in Recovery then Reboot, log into original Gmail account (The one with your purchased Apps.) go into Market and redownload your purchased Apps., now get out of Market and go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications, scroll down till you get to Google Apps, click on that and press Clear data now Reboot and go back to Market and it'll ask you to log in again, log in with new Gmail account and all your stuff will sync, Contacts ect... and after a few minutes your purchased Apps. will show up in My downloads.

Thank you for the Tutorial - it worked for me until I wanted to install a Update of a purchased App:
they are all shown in My downloads & Market tells me that there is a Update available. When I click update it shows me the Buy button & the Price of the app?!
What can I do now? Any ideas?
Hi there
I'm switching mobile providers
I currently have an i9000
the new provider will give me an i9000T
What steps do I need to take to backup my phone as completely as possible.
My contacts are only stored on my google account so thats done
But what about settings / config,
I have a 2GB sd card and my internal memory has only used about 200mb I believe
I have the "backup my phone" option enabled in the settings though I'm not sure what that does

personally I use two seperate methods both require root and one requires a modified bootloader clockwork mod.
so the 1st
requires a rooted phone with clockwork mod bootloader installed. simply reboot to recovery mode and in clockwork mod select back up this captures EVERYTHING.
second option I use titanium backup pro (from the market)
brilliant software I use it in conjunction with the titanium media sync to auto sync with my dropbox as well to retain a copy in the cloud I have it run nightly settings and new app batch jobs.
how these will fare across two different devices I have absolutely no idea but then I have no idea what the difference between the standard and T models you mention is?
hmm not sure if i wanna root the phone,
I have to return it to avoid paying a cancellation fee
Think I'll just skip the backup process then
But hey actually how can I backup my text messages

super oneclickroot (I use version 1.6.5) will allow you to root and unroot and will delete all traces titanium back up can be used without paying for it but will be massively slower.
if you dont want to root I am guessing you'd feel even more nervous about flashing but falshing a stock rom with an sd format will effectively factory rest your phone before sending it back
hmmm
well to reset the phone before sending it back I was just going to go to the Privacy setting and doing the factory reset
Or is that not enough?
Furthermore when I get the new phone and link my google account back, it'll automatically download all the contacts / other available data wont it

if your contacts are linked to your gmail then yes it will, there are also free back up solutions that sync to your gmail for things like sms etc
if your phone isnt rooted now which it isnt all your apps will be redownloadable from the market. you would lose their settings things like game progress etc which would would not with titanium.
Where are the market purchased files locate on the SGS? I've a rooted Gingerbread 2.3.3
If I do a factory reset, will all the files be deleted?
APK located for all in
DATA/APP .
jje
Also, those files WILL be deleted, unless you copy them somewhere else (e.g. /mnt/sdcard). Your purchased apps, however, are registered in your google account, so they will be there in the market waiting for you to download them again for no extra cost, even if you deleted them via wipe/factory reset.
I have a brand new Mi A2, which I updated to Android 9, I unlocked the bootloader, and installed Magisk.
I let Google take all my Apps and settings from backup (from an old phone; RedMi 3).
All looks fine but loads of problems with (I guess) storage!?
I cannot download anything, I cannot make a new folder, I cannot use the camera (!) because it says it needs an SD (which A2 doesnt support!), I cannot install a lot of Apps (some do, some dont, with error 190), I cannot open/download pics in WhatsApp, WhatsApp cannot recover the chat backups etc. etc. etc.
Seems almost nothing can write to my device!?
Tried all the Play Store stuff (clear data of Play Store, Play Services, Framework etc., and removed my account and re-added).
Also tried putting all security settings on allow to use storage etc.
I did all settings etc so please dont tell me to do a factory reset
Is it because of settings it copied from my old device!? So I cant?!
UPDATE 1: Tried everything I guess, and I went crazy. Now did a factory reset and did NOT restore all apps from cloud (backup from old phone) but only the settings. Fixed. Strange and annoying (to manually install all apps now etc)!
Hello,
Is there a way to root galaxy note 9 north american model with latest updates installed without resetting the phone and without oem unlocking?
I am trying to recover accidently deleted photos from camera folder which I didnt sync anywhere, they are not in trash folder. I tried many data recovery apps but I couldnt recover deleted photos from camera folder.
Now I am trying to root the phone so I can give root access data recovery apps for deeper recovery.
Any help would be really appreciated. I hope I can recover those photoes.
the way of digital storage works, yes it's true, files are never really deleted, it's only marked for deleted.
but when it's marked as deleted, that space could easily be replaced with other files.
i think, if you use your phone more than hours after that specific photo gets deleted, your activities using smartphone (chats, browsing, video call) is downloading / creating caches and files into your phone, and it could replacing your deleted file in that specific space.
even rooting your phone is considered as some activities that could replacing that deleted file with other things.
