[Q] Bricked during ics root - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I originally updated my phone to ICS using the ATT HTC ruu and i tried rooting with
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003
Then I got stuck on the htc startup screen with the green htc letters and white background. Ran the RUU from ATT HTC again and got stuck at 34% while updating system. I pulled out the usb cord and pulled out the battery and replaced it. Now there's an error with htc black background and 4 triangles. whenever I pull out the usb cord, the phone goes into a hardboot menu with only RUU option. I can't unlock my phone. it is currently relocked.
Please help :'(
thanks!

Just run the RUU again without removing the USB cord this time.

If you pull the battery, replace the battery, hold Vol- and PWR, does it take you to Bootloader, or to that "RUU" screen? If it takes you to bootloader, select Fastboot, plug in your phone, and run the RUU again. Looks like you have ICS Hboot, so make sure you're using an ICS RUU, and the correct one. You may want to redownload the RUU in case you got a bad download. If it doesn't boot to bootloader, try running the redownloaded RUU from that "RUU" Hboot screen

Thanks for the replies. When I try going into hardboot it has the black htc screen with the four triangles. When I try running the ruu it updates until 34% and gets stuck there

Like they said, re-download the ruu. if you want another option, try using another pc, or a powered USB hub.

All good suggestions...also make sure you're using the cable that came with the phone. A ton of strange going-ons are being reported with 3rd party cables..

I'm still stuck at the 34% mark even though i re-downloaded the RUU. Should I download another RUU version?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564776
Did you download the ruu from here? If not try it and see if it works. Maybe the one before was a bad download.

yea that's the one I used :/. I ran the RUU at least 8 times and it would always get stuck at 34% or the updating system stage. could the issue lie with the system?
thanks for the replies

Have you tried a different computer? Grasping at straws here.

yea I have tried running RUU on my laptop and it still gets stuck at 34%

Try restore to gb ,cubed has a post here with the zip and how to , then after try the ruu again

I want to do that except my device is relocked and whenever I try hardbooting it, it goes straight into the htc black screen with the four triangles.

is my emmc fried?

Do you have google talk where i can chat with you i wanna help as much as i can

yea my gmail is [email protected]

Could the issue lie with the gold card?

Un brick my Vivid
My Vivid is currently bricked. Not enough reading first or rather the problem is some people create blogs that show up in Google and then post incomplete procedures... Oh well
My problem is I was trying to upgrade to ICS. I did not get the unlock keys from the HTC site. I copied PH39IMG.zip to the sd card and booted. Now it will not complete boot. If I remove the SD card and the battery and then power up with Power and Volume Down, I get to this screen

did you RUU.exe yet or RUU.zip? Go to my links thread, read jasonmaloneys RUU method, and use darkknights zip, also try RUU.exe. If you didn't flash a GSM radio you *should* be fine. The RUU's contain radios, so you should ba able to get back to stock and reroot, etc.

RUU is supposed to take away root. When you boot into the bootloader and plug in the usb does it say "fastboot usb" in the upper right? If so, you should try the exe again, if it fails, try jasonmaloneys method with tehdarkknights RUU.zip
EDIT: saw you edit, IIRC volume up/power is what you want = fastboot.
EDIT EDIT: if you REALLY cannot at all get into the bootloader AT ALL, and you still have warranty, bring it to sprint = new phone?

The problem is you are S-OFF with Revolutionary and the 3.09 RUU you flashed the Android 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 ROM which needs to have HBOOT 2.00 installed in order to boot and run.
The Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT is preventing the RUU from installing HBOOT 2.00, thus the reason you are now in this state.
Checkout the FAQ sticky post in this forum on how you should proceed.

Ok then you need to extract the ROM.zip file from that RUUand then copy it to our SDcard and rename it PG32IMG.zip and then reboot into hboot and see if it will flash that way.
How do I extract the zip file from an exe? Is there a zip file of the same RUU?

[Q] Stuck in HBoot

My battery died overnight one day and (long story short) now all I'm able to get into is hBoot. I wasn't trying to flash a new ROM or update to ICS, nothing. Every time I try and boot up, it gets stuck on the boot logo. Every time I try and get into recovery, I see a glimpse of the recovery and then it reboots and again gets stuck on the boot logo.
I've tried factory resetting... nothing. I've tried pushing boot and recovery files thru adb... nothing. Just stuck on hBoot.

The phone is a Rogers Raider (Canada) and has the bootloader unlocked and is rooted (for some time now). I have no clue where to go from here and have exhausted all my resources searching thru XDA for answers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading,
Ok, don't panic, you can still get into HBOOT so as far as I know, its fixable. Have you read the superguide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
[SUPERGUIDE] ICS-Root-Flash-Stock
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using xda premium from my HTC Velocity 4G using xda premium
I have... gone thru it many times, downloaded Wild Childs root pack and numerous PH39IMG's to see if I can try push the boot.img or recovery.img from them. Tried updating the HBoot but again, when it reboots, it gets stuck on the HTC Logo. I don't want to try to S-off in case I end up sending it in to HTC but at this point I'll try anything. Also found the original Rogers RUU to try and extract the boot.img from there but not sure how to extract it from a .exe file.
What recovery are you using ???
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
And that's the problem. I've been trying a bunch of PH39IMG files, but most (if not all) are to update the HBOOT in preparation for ICS builds. I've tried loading the file onto my SD card and extracting the files to push thru fastboot but neither worked. I was finally able to find an original Rogers RUU named:
RUU_Holiday_Rogers_WWE_1.65.631.1_Radio_1.11.1020.03_30.77.551061.02L_release_219561_signed.exe
but when I try run it while my phone is connected in fastboot, it won't complete the process. I've even tried to use a universal extractor to see if I could pull the recovery from the .exe file, but to no avail. I think I've exhausted my options...
You may want to try s-off, haven't done so myself, and not really sure if that would solve anything as you're having trouble flashing a recovery, but the procedure seems easy enough, and there are heaps of people who have s-off'd. Plenty of info on xda about it, and from vague memory I think that it gives you the option to flash a recovery after you've s-off'd. Not sure, do some reading into it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576668 Hope it works out for ya
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G using xda premium
I think I'll try sending it in to see what they say about it. Then when they give me some BS excuse and try and charge me an arm and a leg to fix it, I'll tell them where to shove it and then try to do the S-off procedure. Thanks though,
Lol, ok, fair enough. Hope it works out for you

"stock" HTC incredible S stuck on HTC Screen

Hi,
Both my Girlfriend and myself have "stock" (never flashed not roms installed) HTC incredible S handsets.
In the last week hers has suddenly started hanging on the HTC boot screen.
Earlier in the week I used the boot menu and managed to run factory reset which worked succesfully. This morning phone has asked to do an OTA update from Optus. (same upgrade she had installed before the last "hang")
Ran the update and it rebooted.. it is now hanging on the HTC screen. When trying to run factory reset it either shows a red triangle with an exclamation mark or reboots and hangs on the HTC screen.
I have not rooted it (these are 100% stock phones) and have searched through the forums but most of the posts Ive seen related to taking modded phones back to stock and not fixing a stock boot problem.
As I have the exact same model is there any way I can copy critical files from my handset to hers to resolve this issue?
Is there a stock Image file I can download and install?
Warranty is out of the question so I need to try and resolve this by myself..

Warranty is out of the question so I need to try and resolve this by myself..
details from boot screen:
vivo pvt ship s-on RL
HBOOT-2.00.0000
Radio-3822.10.08.28_M
eMMC-boot

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Mark, here's the Optus Sense 3 RUU http://d-h.st/cGj
Download and run that on your PC following the prompts. You may need to be in bootloader mode but looks like you can access that already.
Be aware that this will return the phone to a completely out of the box, factory condition.
Thanks...

[Q] HTC Incredible S Stuck on HTC Logo

Hey guys, so this is my first post here on XDA, and being totally honest I am a complete noob who has no idea what technical terms mean. Terms like S-Off and H-Boot are all Greek to me. :/
Ok so I have an Incredible S which came with a custom ICS Rom. But since there's an official rom from HTC Dev I downloaded that, connected my phone to HTC Sync and ran the exe file. Everything went fine, the progress bar went on, but after the setup on my pc said that it was completed the phone just seems to be stuck on the HTC white screen. It was that was for over an hour and I knew something had gone wrong.
The rom that I downloaded was the NAM one.
I know how to get into the bootloader screen (power and volume down) and these are what I see there:
VIVO PVT **** S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.13.1002
RADIO-3831.19.00.19_M
eMMC-boot

I thought I got a corrupted rom or something so I downloaded the WWE rom from HTC Dev as well, but when I extracted the rar file it's a whole load of folders and files I don't even know how to use, unlike the earlier NAM file which was a simple exe. What worries me more is that I have no idea how to even connect the phone to my USB and get a rom inside the SD card so I could flash it through the bootloader.
I went through so many threads on this forum but like I said, I don't really understand all the techy terms. :/
Many apologies, but I'd really appreciate a walkthrough on how I can get my phone to work again.
Present status with the phone is that it won't get past the HTC logo screen and won't connect to the computer.
Please help!
Thank you!
Wrong forum, post in Incredible S Q/A
First post on a nice website... AND YOU BLEW IT! Lol. But yeah, wrong phone forum.

Your phone has the Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT which is preventing the WWE RUU from running successfully. At this point, you have the new ROM installed, but it requires the stock HTC ICS HBOOT be in place to boot and run, thus the reason the phone gets hung at the HTC screen.
I suggest you reinstall a custom recovery such as 4EXT and then install mike1986's ARHD ROM. This is based on the latest HTC ICS ROM that you have attempted to install, but has a number of performance tweaks.

Will you not need Blackrose HBOOT as well?

Possibly. Although mike1986 has listed it on previous versions as being a requirement, it has run perfectly fine on Revolutionary HBOOT 6.13.
Follow Up: Reinstall Recovery

Hi tpbklake,
So I am new to this as well so bare with me. I have the exact same problem (WWE RUU not running because of Revolutionary S-OFF HBOOT) however I'm not sure how to go about implementing your solution. You see, I can open the bootloader however I can't get past it. Fastboot doesn't do anything for me. What can I do to get past this problem?

Do you have HTC Sync and the associated drivers installed on your PC? What OS are you running? It sounds like a driver issue to me.

I do have HTC Sync and I do have the HTC drivers installed. I'm running Windows 7. The problem is that HTC Sync nor my computer cant locate the device because the phone doesn't go past the bootloader screen. If I try to start the phone normally or in recovery mode it just freezes at the white htc screen.

OK, remove HTC Sync, but leave the HTC drivers installed.
Boot the phone into bootloader and then then select FASTBOOT from the HBOOT menu.
Then connect your phone with the USB cable and the phone menu should change to FASTBOOT USB.
Once you get that far, you should be able to flash a custom recovery using the command
fastboot flash recovery [name of the recovery.img file]
You should download the recovery.img file to your PC and put it in the same directory where you have the adb.exe and fastboot.exe.
THANK YOU
