So... I got an email regarding a soak test upcoming for the Droid 4. No idea exactly when it will begin, or what update it entails, but I can cross my fingers for ICS!
I cannot get the image attachment, nor can I post a link, so unless I get this privilege, you will just have to take my word

We got our soak test E-mail almost two months ago... still no word from Moto.

Sounds like this was in regard to the .219 update.
I was able to get root back finally after not having it post update. Basically, I was able to delete the old superuser.apk and su binary off my phone after trying to manually root through adb followed by a data/cache wipe. Once they were deleted, I was able to obtain root again.

well i've been searching around n found no answer. is there any way to get involved in this beta? or is it like a closed press only type of beta? i have seen many videos on it n i just wanna get my hands on it! of course since its probably against the rules to post the direct apk, anyone know how to get in on this or is it strictly closed? also....if you have the actual beta, no harm in DMing me the apk
bitbop beta
Hi, letting you know that the beta is associated with specific accounts so even if you have the apk file you will not be able to use the app without a valid Bitbop account. Please follow us on twitter twitter.com/bitbop and contact me at beta at bitbop dot com and we can get you set up. Thanks Paula
Paula,
I signed up for the BitBop service now that it is released but saw that there is no tablet support. I have sent customer service an email about it but have not heard back. I was able to load the app for my phone (Droid X) but would really prefer to use the app on my tablet (Viewsonic G Tablet - running VEGAn 1.0 beta 5.1 - froyo) since it has a much bigger screen. I see this is an old thread but was hoping you would still get this post.
Hi sjmoreno, I am sorry, at this time we do not support your Viewsonic G Tablet. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, thanks Paula
Thanks Paula for the response. Can you tell me if your company is planning on supporting tablets in the future and if so what type of timeline and devices?
I am aware of the online petitions and countless emails many a Milestone user have sent to Motorola regarding the unlocking of the bootloader. I am pasting a email i was about to send, hoping I could geet some possible input from the great android community. Thank you. All feedback/suggestions are appreciated.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
On behalf of myself and the multitudes of other Motorola Milestone owners, we would like to request the unlocking of the bootloader. As this phone is getting older and will eventually be considered end of life and discontinued, odds of continued support by Motorola would be unlikely. With the bootloader locked, it means that all of us owners of this wonderful device would not be able to continue its growth through the wonderful support of Android enthusiasts. I am aware as are others that having the bootloader unlocked would mean no support from Motorola for any damage or harm that may or may not happen. That I am more then willing to accept. All we ask is to have the freedom that owners of the U.S. variant, the Motorola Droid, have been able to experience, as their handsets have unlocked bootloaders. I kindly implore you to please give the fans what we want. To continue to support our devices in any way that we see fit, completely by ourselves leaving whatever happens to our responsibility. Please pass this to someone who would be able direct this email to those that would best be able make our hope come true, which would be the unlocking of the bootloader. I want to thank you for your time as I realize this is a long email. I simply wish that this email is sent to the appropriate individuals, rather then deleted and or ignored. Thank you.

UPDATE (14th June 2011):
We are now over the 10,000 mark.
I have now spoken with Motorola and gotten confirmation that Motorola plan to unlock every device that will get an update in the second half of this year. This will include maintenance & firmware updates, but is still subject to Carrier approval.
The promising sign is that Verizon has already allowed Motorola to unlock a device on their network, the Xoom, which utilizes the unlockable/re-lockable model that Motorola intends on using across their devices.
I'm still looking to work with Motorola in the coming months to help see if we can make this a smooth process for Motorola and the community.
You can read the article here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/06/14/an-u...witter&utm_campaign=Feed:+ausdroid+(Ausdroid)
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
UPDATE (26th April 2011):
We are now at ~8,700 mark.
Motorola has now responded to me, stating that they are looking at unlocking bootloaders across their devices late 2011.
The article for the story can be found here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/04/26/the-little-aussie-taking-on-motorola-u-s/#more-8184
We're still seeking clarity around whether this will be for current devices or only future devices.
I couldn't have gotten this far without the support of everyone here. You guys and girls have been a huge support and help me turn this snowball into a wrecking ball.
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
Previous Update (4th April 2011):
We are now at ~7600 mark.
We're starting to slow down from our initial boom, so I have now set up a Facebook page to see if we can wrangle in some supporters that don't use Twitter or XDA.
I will need your help getting this out there. So share the facebook page where you can.
I'm also looking to see if anyone is interested in helping me Moderate the page. Please PM if you are.
Original Post:
Hi All,
I have created a Groubal (online petition) to get a response from Motorola on it's bootloader policy.
>>This petition started for the Atrix, but I made sure that it was for Motorola's overall Bootloader Policy. I have reached 200 signatures in 2 weeks, but now believe it's time to expand this out of the Atrix space and into the larger Motorola Dev community.
Ok guys, we now have nearly 800 signatures, nearly 500 in one night alone.
Keep up the great work everyone, this wouldn't be going anywhere without your support.

It would be even better if we could get XDA to post it as an announcement across all the forums, but unfortunately I don't know any of the administrators well enough to do it.
If you want to champion that for us, that would be greatly appreciate. I'm starting to find myself spread to thin on this one.
Groubal has been attacked again!
Hello Irwin,
Yes indeed...Groubal was hacked once again. We have our technical team and our hosting enterprise working feverishly on this to remedy the problem.
Clearly your petition and all your supporters have touched off serious nerves; and your message has created amazing awareness around the world now.
We will fix the problem and move forward. Please take the time to let everyone know on all the forums what has happened to Groubal.
Thanks in advance,

Just sent this tip to Engadget.com
Please shed some light on the petition by the Android user community requesting that Motorola to unlock the bootloaders on their Droid phones. Smartphones are not just phones that can browse the web, they are mobile computing devices that can make phone calls.
We pay a large sum of money to own these mobile computing devices but we are not able to modify the operating system like any other personal computer that each of us own.

moto and other manufactures need to stop this!! if we buy a device...we have the right to do what we want with it...its our money!!!
Signed. I'm rocking a Thunderbolt right now, but I still play with my Droid X from time to time.
Ok, so here's the skinny. I'm not an active member, but have been around longer than most. I have experience with a lot of what most of us (xda community) attempt with our devices. I recently acquired a bionic and lapdock which works beautifully with my MoPho. However, I have this Bionic just sitting here, and I cannot do anything with it (yet). I'm offering support to those who are working on a bootloader unlock, or will even take on this task myself if those who are/were working on it will catch me up to speed. Contact me, let's share notes, compare ideas, etc.
I think there may have been one or more efforts/projects to attempt this.
Here's a thread mentioning a bounty/donate and details checking ota servers, and ended a little silly.

Thank you for responding. I aware of the Cheesecake attempts and the bounty. That's why I made a new thread requesting those who were once part of or actively working on this project to contact me. TBH members, Hash, etc. anyone who knows the full scoop on it. There is more than one way to skin a cat, and I may know of a better approach.
You came here, and I immediately disappoint you because I'm personally unable to assist you in this task. I sincerely apologise for that. But you'll find other members here who are glad to be able to assits you in getting your SIM-locked device unlocked FOR FREE!
That brings me to my two requests, recommendations, suggestions or how you want to call it; however, it all depends on YOUR personal choice:
To SIM-unlock your device will make it necessary that you provide personal information like your last name or your phone number. Please do NEVER post these data publicly in a thread! If you decide to want this kind of support, please provide this information ONLY BY PERSONAL MESSAGES (PM)!
Those reputable XDA members who live the spirit of XDA do offer their service and support for free and will never ask you for a donation during any step of the process. Although, if you satisfied with the final result you're certainly free to donate whatever you believe is desired.
If any member asks you to donate etc. before the support is provided, please use the report function that is also available for PM's and report such a request immediately without a further reply or reaction to the PM. Same applies to any suspicious post in a thread.
Thanks very much for listening - and we hope that you got your devices soon unlocked without any problems.
Hello, I'm a little unsure of how to go about this. Do I just comment and wait for a PM or should I be the one sending a PM?
