You can either download it from the internet or you can get market unlocker from the market. maps probably isn't supported in your country or carrier.

GPS Tuner is good with google map, few days ago I used in HK. I am using it in Canada now.
Else try GPSViewer; think it's free (or more cheap than GPS Tuner)...

To remind you that Google maps require internet access when operate, the phone will automatically connect via GPRS/EDGE/WiFi/HSDPA from your network provider.
I couldn't quite find the answer I'm looking for, but I plan on importing a device from Roger and unlocking it for use on At&t in the US.
My concern is that I won't have access to the US market or Google Maps Navigation without hacking. Does anyone know if this is the case or should I have no issues?
How does Google Market or Google Maps Navigation determine where you are?
If you look under settings>privacy, you can see that there is an option for "Use My Location", which is used for google search results and other google services.
I'm guessing the other google services include the market.
as for google maps, the phone will use its GPS to locate you in the map, so no worries on that one.

I know about that thanks. I would like to know from someone who actually knows though, no disrespect, rather than guessing.
it should work after you install the maps app from the android market since the phone is in the us and if it doesnt work you can used the modified one which doesnt need root

So I'm told the Market identifies your location by your SIM card and carrier IP address.
Anyone have the latest World Mate app? When I log in to the Market place it says this item is not available on my carrier.

I found a way to get it...I used market enabler and set it to Rogers in Canada and there it was on the market. just wish I had the apk for future use
I have been wondering that after using cyanogenmod for some time now I and my wifes N1s could not download or update google map from the market unless we use market enabler..
So what I do is go to freewarelovers.com and dl latest map there, any idea how this can be fixed guys? ta
Probably the downloaded Maps is not compatibile with market (some differente version or sign).
Try to complete uninstall it and re-install from market.
It could be that google ran into licensing restrictions in your country and that is why it was removed from your market. The gmail app cannot be downloaded in Germany without using Market Enabler since google doesn't own the gmail name. All gmail addresses in Germany will show as @googlemail.com.
Recently Google Play add the Books Section for italian people. Do you know which is the criteria to have an access to this section? Is it an IP matter or what? There is a solution to buy some italian books living outside from Italy? THX ;-)
You can use an app who is called "Market Unlocker". In this app there is codes who define your market according to your country and it's allows you to choose the country what you want.
