I bought 2 galaxy nexus from amazon on tuesday but they didnt seel it directly they used saxx mobile as a merchant , out of curiosity i googled them and i came up with these sites
http://saxxmobilescam.com/
http://community.kabam.com/forums/s...lbert-Mita-Scammer-–-Saxx-Mobile-Scam-Exposed
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aag/detail...PDKIKX0DER&isCBA=&asin=&seller=A2JCK7Q5C98FMU
They say saxx mobile is a scam and that they used and returned phones as new, i also checked their reputation on amazon and they just have 13 reviews, and 3 of them say they didnt get the item , now i'm paranoid and thinking the reviews are fake or the people didnt realize they got used phones, they provided me with a tracking number which i checked but it only weighs 1 lb, which sounds like very few weight for 2 phones, have any of you bought from them? to make things worse i'm forwarding the package to my country so i cannot know for sure until the phone gets here and amazon doesnt make itself responsible when you forward their items
One thing that gives me relief is that they mention this site
http://www.negrielectronics-scam.com/1/post/2012/03/first-post.html#comments and say that negri is a scam too but ive read about people buying from them with no troubles whatsoever so maybe the trouble with saxx mobile was just an angry costumer?
One word - homework.
Hope it turns out ok.
Seems like there's a feud between saxx mobile and negrielectronics, both sites fake claims on the internet to give bad rep to the other store classy!
I found this online

The person has 100% feedback so it might not be a con anyone bought one from the seller
Thanks
Edit-Western Union payment is prefered beware
just because the subject is xdaII, doesnt mean thats wut they are selling u. If u looked @ the picture, you would have noticed that it is the same device that u currently say u have.
The person does not have 100% feedback, I noticed there feedback is also private. Even if the feedback is perfect do not assume that the person placing the ad is the real person, there have been many hijacked accounts on ebay.
beware of xda IIs on ebay
I am not saying that there are no lagit deals on ebay but I have been watching them closely and have all but given up. There are a number of scams running:
One of them is posting links to sites running pyramid schemes (some of them tell you it is a site, others bury a disclosure deep in the tech specs in hopes of quick bucks thru paypal)
The second one advertizes XDA IIs but the pictures are carefully taken so that only one shows the antenna making it clearly and xda I.
The worst ones are hijacked live ebay accounts. I e-mailed asking a question of one seller and he told me not to bid as his hotmail and ebay accounts had been stolen. The item description later read 'do not bid! let me know if you have sent money so police and ebay reports can be filed.'
Check to see how long the auction runs for. If it is short and there is no reserve and bidding starts at $.99 you can BET it is a scam.
Feedback helps but it is not foolproof. I saw some that read 'Delivered what was promised' that was feedback from someone who paid $495 for a url to a site where they could get a $45 XDA II.
The problem with ebay accounts is the fact that the first part of your log in details is visible to everybody as your ebay account nickname, all thats needed is the password, it isnt rocket science to try put the most obvious passwords and get a hit. Ebay should change it so that no part of your log in details is available.
hey guys,
Just wanted to write a quick note to get everyone's help in reporting the people who are ripping off ITJE and the other cooks hard work and selling them on EBAY.

I reported him as well and if anybody gets a chance to get his ip ill packet his ass to hell ...
Hypothetically Speaking
Is there a way to win an auction on Ebay and email the seller -- sending him a nasty Virus that totally destroys his computer???
Just a Hypothetic Question.

Wait wait there my good friend .... A virus isn't hard to e-mail a person all we need to do is hide it well .... Like once we get his e-mail have a sexy girl e-mail him saying she likes him and sends him viral attached pictures... Or just some other method but we have to catch this jerk off guard. Or not even a virus but a trojan or bot to gain access to his machine .. Thus we can then have even more fun than 1 messed up computer
Another Line of thinking
How bout we beat him at his own game.
How bout we offer the same thing as he does at only .10 over Ebay costs to list it???
Should put the ************out of business.
What do you think Simon?
we can also e-mail the bidders on ebay and tell them that they can get the roms here for free. I will do my part and do this whenever I come across one of those auctions.

Thats wonderful except you cant do that on ebay with out worrying what issues they feel they may have with it. The person with that 10cent deal will more than likely get banned as ebay sucks and they look at that as some type of break of their policy. That much I do know as I made a 10 cent auction for a phone call and got banned .... So don't do anything to get anyone banned as my account is still down even tho i complain to them everyday after they allowed someone to fraud me.

No bidders as its a buy now sale not an auction. But if someone was to monitor it and catch the person who clicks it before they pay then yes an e-mail will be effective.
Okay -- Last Ditched Attempt at a Solution
What if .....................
We create a website.... win his auction...... link the website in his feedback
Website exposes what he is.
Where he got it from.
How they got ripped off...................
How about just making a fake ebay account and bidding on all his auctions then don't pay? Get banned, repeat process. He'd have to give up eventually.

A quick check around finds.
Very little onthe web about a company that is supposed to have been in business since 1996.
Not registered at Companies House.
Web Site was created in August this year.
And this is their trading address.
NEW-TOPICS STORE
45 Gardner Rd
Lancaster, Lancashire
Which looks like this.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=45+...=J6hLmT1PwSEAVVM18tIQSg&cbp=12,313.75,,0,6.87
So. Make up your own mind.
Ciao.com does have some customer reviews but I have not read them yet apart from one who said he could not complete the transaction as their PayPal would not take payment
Just like I suspected. Clearly there's no STORE around that corner .
I found similar fooling techniques being applied on eBay, ebay.fr to be exact.
eBay remove some of them and notified by email too. I guess all those 100% positive feedback are f**kers trying to pull money easy. Btw. can anyone explain me if the Buyer Protection works for these cases on eBay ?
I sent them a email too and i seen where the address took me in the uk, also i looked everywhere for this site cant find anything on it, i couldnt find the address in italy where it is being run from.
The website is part of prostores, where you can set up your own website and sell stuff, and its run by ebay, soo ummm i dont no, i dont really want to pay that money to find out to be honest.
also had a look on ciao, it dont look good the guys payment was cancelled but this was a while ago, they have updated since then.
anyone willing to give it a try???
Scam.there are lots of "web stores" that offer such low prices.most of them in china.

Yes, but the stores in Chine offer their models, China made, for that reason they're cheap.
So i remember when I got my Note 5, Note 7, and LG V20 there were plenty of threads that offered items such as cases, screen protectors, etc all for free if the user posted a review.. Are things like that no longer allowed here? I have a vendor friend from China who still does this, but it's via Amazon.. Just checking to see if XDA disallowed this type of stuff and seeing if maybe that's why none of those posts pop up here anymore..
Thanks!
Your a bit late. There was about 3 of them right before the phone released.

It's highly unlikely to be an unbiased and therefore helpful review. It's getting silly on Amazon now too. Take a look at some of the tempered glass screen protectors for this phone. Quite a few are highly rated, but are from obvious shill reviews and NOT verified purchases. And the fwe verified purchases? All 1 or 2 star reviews from unhappy people suckered by the 5 star reviews. Filter by verified purchase always!

I agree. I've made a few negative reviews on Amazon. Then the seller emails me to remove review via bribe with a refund ? WTF hence why some shoddy items seem to get high star review counts.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
For Amazon reviews, I highly recommend Review Meta. They have a couple of Extensions and Add-Ons for browsers that can help you sift out inflated/fake reviews and give you a more realistic rating of items, and it explains why certain reviews are shady too. Of course, it doesn't help for some of the less reviewed items, but their site has very helpful info about how to spot paid and fake reviews. Highly Recommend!!
Companies would give out free items to most people who posted in the thread, now, it seems like they make you fill out a form and they add you to their email list and don't send anything out.
About a year ago, Amazon did away with all of the free for honest review things that they could. They probably still exist, but they get rid of sellers who do it whenever they can. There used to be entire sites that did nothing but hook people up with free or discounted stuff for honest reviews. I got burned a few times by products that are rated 4.8 stars but are absolute crap. I'm glad to see it go. There is no way that you're going to get a pile of unbiased reviews when you're just giving people stuff.
So, have you been honest on your reviews of free products?
Care to link the class to some of your online reviews for critique?

Amazon made a “for show” effort to remove those reviews, but biased/shill reviews still exist there and all over the internet.
Disagree that all 4 star and up reviews are biased. Disagree that the review system bears no fruit and is uselesss.
When I had the HTC one m8 a phone case company contacted me on xda. They sent me a phone case and it was pure garbage. Taking the phone in and out a few times it lost its shape and would say around the phone. I told the company of my findings and he said many had said the same thing. If the fixed it or not I don't kn now but last I heard from them. Asked if I should return it and they said do what ya want with it. So I through it in the trash.
I don't mind being contacted but I don't expect to see free stuff for honest reviews.
Like with my zero lemon extended battery for the v20. Got a 90% discount from them. So I reviwed it on Amazon and zero was upset that I got a discount. Told them I wasn't lying on my review and if they wanted the battery back I would be more than happy to return it to them. I won't lie. I gave them a 4 star because they cheaper out on the cover and made a rubber case to go on the back. To me would allow all sort of dust and other contaminant easy access in to the phone

XDA blocks the companies from doing that because it violate their terms, and they want those companies to pay for the advertising not get it from xda users.
Yeah I got chargers, phone cases, cables, Bluetooth speakers, etc all free for review in the past, but it seems those programs have gone astray. I do see how they could be used in a negative way though, kinda crappy.. I'd be totally honest too lol, like if the thing didn't even turn on I'd make sure to mention that in the reviews lol..

Hey, Hey XDA World!!!
As some of you who utilize Amazon may know, there has been a huge problem with companies who pay for fake reviews to elevate their sales. IMHO, Amazon has been fully aware of the problem. My main concern is that when ANY sort of discussion comes up about this on the Seller Forums, they shut it down with the claim that 'they're looking into it' or 'we forwarded your concerns to the appropriate team'. This is my reason for opening the thread here on XDA-Dev, so people may discuss it without being censored by the Corporate Overlords who, by the way, took away Seller's ability to call Amazon for immediate support. They make us rely on ONLY the forums.
Another big problem Amazon Seller Support uses this response with is the old "A-Z Refund Scam" where someone will purchase a high-dollar item, claim it arrived broken and return something not resembling the originally purchased product, which in one case a scammer bought a top-end gaming laptop, made an a-z refund claim saying it was broken and proceeded to box up and send dog s**t to the seller.
One pissed off seller made a topic post yesterday and Amazon closed it just 7 hours ago.. "It was a lively discussion".. :good: Here's the topic post: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/fo...ent-to-gain-traction-to-this-issue/560288/128
As an Amazon Seller, it is frightening to see Amazon allowing this and other worse types of abuse to continue. What are your thoughts on this?
